As a self represented litigant, by choice due to the specialty natures of my problems, my engagement chief components for resolution and the mystery of Mental Hygiene that is solved through my active work pro se; filing with the court initally to commence civil actions for matters that definitely need to be heard in the audience of a neutral party and moreover with interventions appropriate to optimal resolution. I regret initially not having my statements in writing; as outside if the scope of written material, areas of error can find themselves associated with processes case filings. I intend to proceed as an SRL and hope matters are resolved accordingly! This court hears small and general claims; essentially within the jurisdiction with the New York State Unified Court System, and particularly within the County or the 5 boroughs of the City of New York. I have learned that as neutral parties, the County clerks may act in ways that are inconveniencing to me however they are not only serving me!

Came here yesterday, was in 306: This place is a mess and the people working here are awful. You’ll get conflicting information and get scolded because other people gave you incorrect instructions. One of the clerks wrote my case number on my form and another clerk chastised me for having writing on it. The judge, lady with Jamaican accent, seemed like she was playing a Judge Judy character acting so hostile and dismissive toward everyone without provocation. Not a single case got resolved or reached a judgment. Nobody had a say in their case being delayed and given a later court date. Oh, and the bailiff, older white lady, was literally mocking people after they’d left the courtroom. She said she intentionally yelled ‘All rise’ extremely loudly because ‘those two wouldn’t shut up.’ She also butchered my last name and stopped saying it altogether. Great place to witness people abusing their power and the worst offenders of bureaucracy!

3 weeks ago I came in with a notarized document and presented it to the judge, and he did not even read my document or take it as evidence. That was Judge Robert Fitzpatrick, and my housing assistant Mr Francis from Bayview houses has been sleeping with the residents, I have had zero to no help with my case. I lost my job last year and went to get my rent adjusted with no help. Nycha and the court systems are both flawed and disgusting. I would never in my life want to waste my time ever again in a city or state like New York considering it only caters to those of a lighter tone. Judge Fitzpatrick is a crooked individual along with the rest of the staff. The only people you can even remotely trust in that building are the guards and that's because they have guns. And the think the ones with the Firearms of the safest people in there. Nothing but corruption and hardship.

“Your name?” “Good Morning, Your Honor, my -“ “I SAID YOUR NAME!” Very biased, extremely disrespectful, never been more humiliated in my entire life. I brought a pack of documents with proof of my mother’s rent payments (bank statements, canceled cheks), the judge did not even LOOK at them. He asked me “What is it? What are you showing me? I don’t want to look at this. You’re making me nervous.” I am making him nervous. My mother’s landlord is harassing her for nonpayments — LYING IN COURT (she DID pay, but the landlord asked her several times to start paying him in CASH and she refused) the judge did not even listen to me. He talked to me through his teeth and looked at me with so much hatred like I was his enemy number one. This is justice, people. This is the America we live in now.

Are you kidding me? This PLACE does not function as a court. They function as a very busy, very popular restaurant. Letting "VIPs" through. "Liking" or "Disliking" you. They IGNORE your trial date and time (your reservation), and if you're finally ALLOWED into a courtroom (escorted to a table), your case is adjourned because you're late (even though you'd showed up an hour early)! The "outside court" is run by people who hate their jobs and hate you. YOU are an INCONVENIENCE. The SAME attitude hits you once you FINALLY get called before a judge. MY judge considered every word I HAD to say as IRRITATING. IRRELEVANT. BESIDE THE POINT. She, oddly, ruled in my favor, but it was a multi-day, insanely frustrating experience. AARRGGHH!

If I could give zero stars regarding this courthouse would!! Pray to God or whoever else you pray to that you never have to go to this courthouse, the judges & everyone that works there are unprofessional and crooked not to mention ignorant!! The Judges are hostile and do not care at all about you or your case!! I arrived with Documentation & Proof of my case & the judge wouldn’t even look at it, his exact words were “it did not matter”!! The judge in courtroom #506 arrived with a sloppy attire, shirt was wrinkled, tie was wrinkled. He yawned throughout council speaking,. He spoke over people and did not listen!! It is the most mismanaged court of law that I have ever seen! What an absolute embarrassment on their part.

This court is horrible. The judges are always on the side of the landlord's attorney. This system is supposed to help prevent eviction and give people time to pay rent arrears. The "payment plans" that they come up with are unrealistic. Not to mention, it's ridiculously slow. You can get there at 8:30am and still not see the judge by 3:30pm. Even the housing inspectors are friends with the landlords. There needs to be some quality assurance in housing courts and the judges need to be held accountable.

This COURT IS AWFUL. I feel so sorry for anyone that has to come here I truly do. They show NO RESPECT. The judges have attitudes and belittle you like a child and the police officers act like muscle bound thugs if you try to stand your grown against rudeness and disrespect. I pray everyone going through a situation makes it out well. I gotten support from fellow people who voiced displeasure there. Remember THE PEOPLE will always be stronger then the GOVERNMENT.

Horrible place to have to be. Lawyers are rude and speak to you whatever type of way they please. If you ask to file a complaint against these individuals they judge will apologize for there behavior and give you hoops to jump threw. I've seen families bullied out of their home for a quick profit. Families paying to live in slum lord's squander took advantage of a either pay to stay without the conditions tooken care of. Great job New York in in forcing chaos...

In room 906, the front people are extremely rude. They don’t tell you all the information you need, and I have been going to the same room 3 times to change my name( going to be my fourth time next week). Everytime, they tell you to get additional stuff. I also went to the one in Queens. Both courts require something different. I wish they can standardized how they work. At least they should tell you exactly what you need during the first time.

Just had a conversation with a woman who had express nothing, but how much she did not like her job. Sighed at the 2 questions I asked. Gave me some random info I wasn't asking for. I proceeded to explain myself hoping she would get an idea on how to guide me to the right step or information, but she rudely cut me off and asked what it is that I needed?! Robotic at best. If you gave 2 seconds to listen you would have a better day!

The staff members are horrible, 3rd Floor for the cashiers line for attorney needs to be trained in manners, even if you are standing in front of them they completely ignore the customers, they are gossiping amongst themselves. they made me wait for at least 2 hours just to get my documents while they were doing nothing, they wouldn't tell me the time for waiting. Such horrible place. Manhattan and Bronx court are so much better.

This rating is for a phone operator who helped me reach another agency that refused to pick up the phone for days. The operator stayed on the line with me through my frustration and called the agency for me. Overall, they were more helpful than I expected. When 99% of the people who call you at work are already upset, you might get uncontrollably snippy. Kudos to the phone operator for only being nice. Thank you.

  • Jacqueline Ortiz

I am going back they really helped you they really find out exactly where your complains go to and if the address that you have for your landlord and you pay rent too might not be the address that you could file a complaint but the judge finds everything out if you're landlord not responding to your calls trying to resolve the problem and you tired of Calling 311 just go to court

  • LEE I. B.

"In God we trust" Is just a quote at this discriminatory civil court/ small claims! The guilty wins while the ones with the proof lose. The wanna be female judge even granted my apartment keys to my enemy on which I have order of protection for death threats!Worst place & service ever! You get NO help at all. My hope is with the Supreme court now..Smh

  • Misha Kodirov

They carry this market or Mall don’t waste your time if the culprit doesn’t go there anyway the law doesn’t work for them I already went 10 times a person didn’t show up they say come when you show up even you won’t be able to take your money you’ll swallow saws go there nothing will help New York city judge this is not serious it's just a waste of time.

  • Jerel Leeón

I was robbed by an officer!!! Went through the metal detectors and when I arrived home my gold chain and bracket was no longer in my bag. An officer was in my bag and said she needed to see something. She proceeded to let me go through. I was literally robbed blind by an officer. Now it’s my word against hers. This is a disgrace.

  • Tiffany alvarez

They need to put changing tables in the family bathroom it was so difficult to change my 3month old how ya have gender neutral sharing family bathroom and there’s pills on the floor on 9th floor I wish I took a photo but they need to accommodate for us mothers it’s housing court like come on people do better

  • A Shafi

They state their hours at 8am-5pm but they don’t disclose that their “cashiers” are open from 9am-4pm. This means if you need to get a subpoena or file a new claim, you have to do it within the 9-4pm hours. Wish they would advertise this somewhere so someone working a 9-5 won’t waste their time.

  • Andrea Barra (RiverSong)

Listen it was very fast and organized just come on time and get a lawyer or legal aid if you qualify ot makes things work much better but of you need help the court has a room they call you to and they assess and explain your situation plain an simple .

  • Mike Shulman

Long wait for broken elevators; sent from floor to floor on wild goose chase & made to wait for hours then told I need an appointment The phone # is out of service so you call for nothing. A nightmare. Judges in cahoots with landlords & their attorneys.

  • Felix De León

This is a rating based on services and quality rather than politics and judges. This place is decent and clean, but lacks any aesthetics or art. Plain white walls and a boring vibe. The staff was friendly and assisted me with my questions.

  • Nash Williams

This place is spotless! It’s so nice to be here with small crowds and a clean environment. The staff is relaxed and friendly. It’s like everyone just got back from a vacation Now I just need to shmooz the judge …

  • Kathryn Keneipp

Regardless of decisions and cases, I want to say that the staff and security is always friendly and willing to help point you in the right direction. This is really helpful your first time visiting when things can feel overwhelming.

  • Filippo Licciardello

Apparently the lady on room 906 was to busy with her phone and nails. They should start from here for “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”, instead of persecuting people that want to change their lives! You don’t want to work, STAY HOME!

  • Wesley Smith

This place is literally the most disorganized office I have ever been to, not only did they lose my important documents, I had to repeat my entire process and a good portion of the women who work there are horribly rude.

  • Marina Manashirova

I went to this civil court last year and I didn't accomplish nothing. I never saw the judge, and I was there all day. When the judge finally made the decision she dismissed my case, and she didn't give me a court date!!

  • Angie Rodgers

I started a claim for my daughter when she was 16. I had to go to many hearings. Now it's 2 years since I started. Do you believe they made me start all over because my daughter turn 18. I don't think that is fair.

  • Sandy Matadeen

This court is a joke. The employees are rude, obnoxious and ignorant. Needs to be trained in customer service. So much for serving the public. Does not take the time to explain anything and gives the wrong forms.

  • Nikkia Daniels

For the most part the staff is friendly. I haven't ran into a rude one until today. On the 3rd floor window 5. As many tomes as I've went I to that building the staff is inviting , friendly and helpful.

  • Nicholas Feitel

I have to say though the process was long and slow it went fairly for me. The judge was equitable. I was given a free lawyer. The suit against me and my roommates was dropped. What else could I want?

  • Josephine Gabriel

The worst system ever. This system allows the guilty to game the system and prolong cases... unfair to the honest law abiding civilian. Civil Court ain't Civil....

  • Frank Muccio

The court officers are very helpful ! The judges are Extremely kind and courteous the building is kept immaculate good job well done civil court

  • Bill Wilhelm

Very biased, extremely disrespectful, never been more humiliated in my entire life. All Judges are appointed by Legal Aid Society!!

  • K J

Went for a name change. It was a very smooth process as I came prepared with all documents. No complaints.

  • Legacy Sanchez

Love it and hope that things are well and that we can make a trip to the next few days

  • SassyMiss Steward

  • Raymond Johnson (Kera-Jr.)
