I used to like shopping here until they changed all of the registers to self serve - I really dislike going through an entire store and not being acknowledged by a single person. There have been plenty of times when I've gotten to the register and needed help and no one was there, I've looked over at an 'attendant' and they've ignored me or I've been directed to a checkout where someone will help and then there's just no one there. One time I even walked up with my trolley and the guy working asked if I'd like some help to which I said yes, and he just ignored my response and walked away. He then reappeared 5 minutes or so later while I was still scanning and I showed him a pizza box I had that had opened so asked for another one, he scanned the item and told me to just go back through the store when I was done to get another one. So unhelpful! Yesterday there was only 2 sets of the 2 self serve registers open and everyone there was elderly apart from myself. You can see people are confused and not really sure what's going on. There definitely should have been more registers open because all of them had queues and not enough space for all of the trolleys, an elderly lady even bumped me with her trolley. Shopping here is becoming seriously annoying. I'm only giving my review two stars because there is one girl that works here with purple hair who is always helpful and she deserves to be acknowledged. I only shop here because it's the supermarket closest to my house however I am seriously considering trying out other shops because of how much I dislike going here now.

This coles used to be one I frequented due to the fact that it’s open 24 hours but I will no longer be shopping here due to the horrible experience I just had. I had purchased a few times i later changed my mind on at Coles Knox (lovely service) and had come here to return those items. I went to the customer service desk at roughly 11:30pm 18/8/23 and was “greeted” by a lady I believe is named Carol. Carol did not flash a single smile, but showed more of an attitude which seemed like a horrible impression for someone that is supposed to be “SERVING CUSTOMERS” as a representative of coles. She gave me an immense amount of attitude and was reluctant to refund the items even after I had given her the receipt and shown the proof of purchase on my bank app. As someone who also works in a customer facing role, I would have expected nothing less than a cheery tone or even a smile. Perhaps it’s the lack of training or just her attitude towards her role, but because of this experience I will never be coming back to this location unless urgent. 0/10 service from this lady and this is something that definitely needs to be looked into if Coles Burwood would like to keep its loyal customers.

I've had two negative experiences with the staff here which I think is too many considering I don't even come here regularly. First time, the lady at the service desk was attending to me at the same time talking to what I assumed was another colleague on the intercom, I asked her for loose change (for laundry, parking etc) and she gave me paper, I asked her again, assuming she hadn't heard the first time and she roared back at me she 'don't have'. She realised what she'd done and asked me to wait, no apologies. Second time today 6/4/22, they're upgrading their checkout system so the signs are new & not so obvious and instead of *politely* correcting/explaining to me what was happening to go to the appropriate checkout, the staff thought repeating his instructions in a raised voice would do. I really dislike the customer service here and thank God it's not my local.

Great store with lots of items and open 24/7 so convenient. Bad thing is that sometimes some items such as meat, herbs etc. are out of stock and if there are some specials, someone would buy all of it and there wont be stock available. I also went on checkout and had an issue with the machine not recognizing the weights of the items, and the old lady was busy chatting to another guy instead of coming and doing her job to scan her override ID. It infuriated me so much that I wanted to smash the machine or something. For such as busy store, there should be more than 1 staff at the self checkouts OR get the them to do their job instead of chatting. Better to have two OK customers then one happy customer who is being talked to at a self checkout and have one annoyed customer like me who could go elsewhere.

2⭐ one for 24hrs opening hours & another for ease of parking. Appreciate Coles for this effort! -3⭐ customer service, stock availability & overall experiences. I've made many calls to different Coles stores for checking stocks availability or gift cards on sales. This particular store have me calling couple of times before picking up & the person sound rushed, tones are rude, same time judgemental & cutting me off before I could finish asking the question. The stocks that's on sale easily run out earlier compare to Tooronga Coles (which is another big store, could be better if they open 24hrs). Coles Tooronga or Coles local are doing better in overall, please send your stuff here. I will only go to this late store if I'm shopping at 24hrs Kmart or if I'm desperate.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Practically had to plead a customer service staff to 'assist'. This store has gpne downhill rapidly. All the aisles nearly empty, asking for assistance was seen as such a trial by 'Alicia'. Just wanted to know abput stock at another local store. Both Alicia & her friend were just 'chatting' and i disturbed them talking. Emilia also very rude when needing groceries & buying cigarettes. Needed to suspend my groceries. The way this store is now set up, is ridiculous. Dont come if you need store assistance. You won't get it. DEFINITELY NOT RETURNING HERE, even though i have just moved to the area. If i could rate this a ZERO i would. Other family members agree and now go elsewhere. Deli sausages. Yesterday If i could give ZERO stars i would.

Today, one of the employee was very rude and didn't want to help us, who said she was the supervisor and manager of the day when we asked if we could talk to someone else as her attitude was so rude. Her name is Bridget. We had problem with a mobile phone, we bought one month ago, and she said they don't do refund or offer any guarantee of the phone, that as soon as you buy the phone, "Coles" don't take any responsibility of the product which it doesn't make any sense. So, we checked the website, their policy is clear that they will help you if you have the receipt and all things of the product. We decide to call the head office to clarify the situation and the lady was so helpful and kind. Thankfully, she sorted out the problem.

  • Orphan “ClïnkerMüncher”

Conveniently open 24 hours at Burwood One with a good range of primary produce and supermarket products. I find the customers in this store are usually pretty polite, as are the staff, especially when you need assistance finding a product. They have a lovely range of flowers out the front, too. You can park in the open where there are an inclusive range of allocations, or in the two level sheltered parking to avoid occasional extreme weather conditions. Just remember, these are both below G level with the lifts/escalators, as you drive to the lowest level first then up to the mid level (which is still below G). The surrounding shops are definitely worth a browse, too, such as Kaisercraft, Vogue Express and cafés and eateries.

I used to shop @ this Coles quite a lot but in the recent past it has transformed not for better. There are quite a number of 'sample shoppers' pushing their big trolleys shopping around on most weekends which is quite an inconvenience to the customers. Further, they have converted all 'assisted checkout points' to 'self checkout points' and whenever I questioned about it the staff said 'we can assist if you want'. I don't shop at Aldi mainly due to the staff not helping customers packing their shopping but this Coles outlet is even worse. It seems like Coles is using this outlet to experiment new initiatives and we, customers are their guinea pigs. So disappointing.

  • SARQ Sid

Close to home is a plus point. Luckily when I went the shelves were being stocked, so no trouble getting produce, meat etc. The only negative is when you have a full trolley it's hard to empty the trolley, scan the items and bag all at the same time. Time consuming and bad customer service. Luckily for me a young lad assisted me. If one has only a basket of items, self checked out is fine. Not when you are doing your weekly shopping. @coles you need to bring back some checkouts with staff. Unfortunately when I went there was only one counter with assisted staff needless to say the line was long!!!

  • Cycy88

Very bad experience with night workers! We come for the Ultimate home gift card special. Staff said $100 Home Card is not participating the special deal. I checked the catalog and showed to them “ it said this ultimate card excluding the variable amount cards, this card should have the bonus.” They were just unfriendly and no patience said “ this is Flybuys special, we don’t get trained!” I tried to ask, is there any seniors know about this? I came to Coles to shopping, this is Coles weekly special.Should Coles staff be helpful and supportive for customers? Very bad experience!

  • Michael Alemhoca

Shockingly good for Australian standards, felt like I was in the states or Canada! Wide aisles, open 24/7, amazing selection of food+drinks and even at 3am there are no staff blocking any items with palettes, trolleys or their own oblivious bodies like you'd see back when Ashwood Woolworths was 24 hours, so you can access anything you want anywhere in the store. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that unlike Ashwood Woolworths when they were 24/7, there's no checkout staff, you need to do self-check out which isn't ideal if you want to do a big shop.

  • Jim Bruce

I used to love this coles, unfortunately due to recent changes- I don’t think I ever want to visit again. There is not one normal checkout anymore, 70% of the store is “self serve” and the rest “assisted” checkouts where you still got to scan your own items but get someone to pack your bags. How terrible is that, no face to face contact and no real assistance. So coles Burwood one has less employees due to no “checkouts”, we have to do our own checkout but we still pay increased groceries anyways. Terrible terrible terrible

  • S Matt

Today was the first time I went to the reception desk to ask for the gift card, the lady whose name is Machelle is really really rude, at the beginning she asked me “where did you get the card? No one can get it as they all sold out? Go and get a Catalogue at the front door!” She said twice to me really impatient, I showed her the phone with the discount information, she said “look at this, these cards have discount, not these you have!” This is what I got in this store, the worst reception I have seen ever!!!!!!!!!

  • Mary Rowe

SERVICE DOES NOT EXIST no one available to serve. I hope one of your staff visit the dentist I work at THEY CAN SERVE THEMSELVES and do there own filling or extraction see how they feel. I was told to go down to end of store to get service by a woman in self serve isle. There was no one serving in the two isles. When someone did help me I was told they did not take cash. I used to spend about $100 a week at Coles a small sum in there eyes but this is one customer who will NEVER shop in coles again

  • Fat Nut

The customer service here was appalling. I was lightly stabbed by an employee while trying to purchase a 1kg bag of rice to feed my Asian family. I told the employee that I did not appreciate this action and I proceeded to get shot in the forehead. On a later date I purchased 100 watermelons and they were all rotten, which made me feel quite upset. Overall I would personally not suggest shopping here ever as it is not worth the time, effort and torture.

  • khyber khattak

Store have fresh orange juice but never have bottles, if they have bottle then machine is not working, please keep bottles of all sizes and make sure that machine works fine all the time, also night staff not taking responsibility of checking bottles because staff mention that it is our fresh produce responsibility to put the bottles and they have left. I kindly request the management to please ensure that bottles are in place all the time. Thanks

  • Kai Ginger

Great place, with friendly staff and excellent customer services. Also, I just wanna send my special thanks and gratitude to Nishani and all the staff here! I lost my wallet last night 29/03/2022, Nishani helped me to retrieve it. The wallet holds great sentimental value to me, I can’t really explain how much I appreciate the staff who found it, and Nishani who returned it to me! Thanks so much to Burwood one Coles and all the lovely staff!

  • Siew Wong (Nanbutinan Quibotiqui)

Great place for late night shopping. Very spacious and efficient layout unlike most supermarkets. Operating at least one to two checkout counters would have provided better customer service instead of just the self service checkouts at night. This will provide an alternative for customers (like myself) who detest self service checkouts because they consume too much of my time as I often buy a trolley load of stuff.

  • Margaret McLAREN

This Coles is huge and is very well stocked, well laid out. However, I don't visit often unless I want to shop at other places in the centre. There is adequate parking most of the time. Some shoppers persist in 'propping' in one place, waiting for others to leave, despite there being vacant parking located further from the shops. This makes it more difficult for others to negotiate the car park.

  • Jayden “Tha Monsta” Ty

Great store overall, very wide range of products and large aisle. Always baking fresh bread and bakery products as well as fresh cuts of meat . The Mrs loves the self serve Macaroon fridge just before the checkouts , I do too but I'll never admit it to her . Staff a usually eager to help and a mostly well informed about the latest specials .Overall a very good place to shop.

  • Rohan Kulkarni

I almost always buy at Coles, Burwood East. It is open 24 hours, has large aisles, has a large selection of items and is always well stocked. Billing is easy with lots of self-checkouts. You will also find that it is well stocked with Asian and Indian standard pantry items. They also sell exotic fruits like custard apples that are not found regularly at Coles or Woolies.

  • Ashleigh Close

24 hour Coles is so convenient. Shelves are always stocked nice and neatly and the store looks very clean and presentable. Plus, I have never had an issue with an item I needed not being there in the store for me to buy. Always seems to be that there is an additional variety of products that I wouldn't even have known Coles sold or seen them in any other store.

  • Christine

They have a new self check out, I like the design, it's a circular shape, and the bags are in the draw, yes it has a draw, the material is of wood design. Prices definitely increase, reasonable, I suppose cost went up these days. 4 stars as some staff can be rude sometimes, they having a chat with their work colleagues which makes it hard to get assistance.

  • Leah Georgia

Horrible customer service i went to exchange a product that i accidentally picked up. Young girl at counter threw my reciept at me as if exchanging was an issue i asked her if there was something wrong and she did not even speak back to me. Certainly wont be advising my family or friends who have been coming to this coles for 7 plus years to be coming back.

  • Lauren

This is a massive coles. As someone who has never shopped here before and normally shops at Woolies, I found it very difficult to find what I was after, due to what I belive to be a counter-intuitive layout and poor signage. Also, if you are visiting with your kids, make sure to dress them warmly as it is quite cold (there is a large open fridge section).

  • Zeeshan Javed

Disgraceful. Very rude staff. Went there at 1am in emergency for baby formula but they blocked the area for cleaning purpose. Ask the staff member for help as it's emergency otherwise i won't be here at this time but her attitude was so rude and unhelpful and she was like she doesn't care and ask me to come later. And yet they call it open 24 hrs.

  • Emmanuel Lambou

Self-serve check out only are very inconvenient. Thankfully for staff like Maddie I was able to get served and assisted by a staff member. Sophie was also very helpful and assisted me with navigation of the store to locate certain items I was looking for. Thank you to your staff for their service and for looking after my needs. Much appreciated

  • Ana P

8pm Saturday night I found a piece of fresh produce thats best before today and the staff I asked to please do final reduction said he's unable. when asked for a manager he said he's the "only here". How can a store this size on Saturday night not have a duty manager and this produce was missed from reductions and will end up in the bin?

  • Seiko RUI

Serious safety issue, your trolleys have security break when pushed away from supermarket. Mine locked up whilst i was walking it to my car. Still in car park. Next to dry cleaner. Someone could fall over. Older person can break hip, fall into path of car..... oh well at least trolley wont get stolen. Looking toward future lawsuits....

  • Nen Zhong

Buying a cup of coffee and run out of milk, asked staff to refill but the machine didn’t finish my coffee. Then the staff told me I have to pay again and will give me the voucher. Didn’t see anyone giving me the voucher and I’m in a hurry so I left. Didn’t feel well that I can’t get a refund only the voucher and how staff due with it.

  • Jonathan Kok

Time for an update: they've replaced all checkouts with self serve, and the only ones with dedicated assistance are at the far end of the store from the entrance. There is no signage for people with disabilities. For people with wheelchairs, this is incredibly bad, ableist and upsetting. Do not use this store if you have a disability.

  • Boon Keng Ong

Big Store in terms of space and it is quite well stocked. The aisle between the displayed items are wide thus, you can move in comfort. Assisted Service Counters are limited as you're encouraged to do your own check-out at kiosks provided..... assistance are nearby should you encounter problems while checking out!

  • Alex Choi

This Coles “was” a very great store where fresh produce was great quality. Over time the quality and availability has been deteriorating. Recent visits had more items unavailable and nearly every single checkout is now self serve. Not a problem for me however need to line up longer as people in the front struggle.

  • A.R. Thiruchchenthooran

This is our go to Coles even though this is not the closest Coles to our home. Why? Becasue this Coles is offering variety of options. Example the Coles kitchen food items, the fresh sandwiches and bakery products, Coles coffee whitener, Coles custard (Yellow box) etc.. You may not get these in a normal Coles.

  • The Robsons

Big, staff don't get to know you very well. I go almost every Tuesday late at night and the two lady's never try to small talk or anything just really mopey. I understand they're probably tired. But in my opinion customer service is important. And no matter what I feel. My customers always come first.

  • punma liyanage

Lady at the counter Name is Sue is very rude to customers. Really disappointed about her service. Maybe she thinks everyone’s like her stole good from there but no never ever. After she checked the bag said all good all good common SUE don’t judge people from their skin colour. …

  • D D

Why not close the doors if you aren’t going to let people access any of the aisles. Makes no sense to stay open but block every row off. No cleaning being performed, no spills, no wet floors. Even the staff were confused as to why it’s all blocked off as the guy went home lol Great job lol

  • Reneblacky

Checkout's there are now designed to train shoppers to become Coles employees! and the attendee staff member was non apathetic to several older shoppers in regard to this ridiculous change! I went to a designated assist checkout and was still asked if I needed assistance!! poor form!

  • Kate Ws

This Coles seems to go up and down but they’ve recently added to their available products and I’m happy to announce that they installed a mix and match dog treats section! ❤️ The only thing i would change is the price as some products do come out a bit high for treats.

  • samantha U

They have Nescafé on special ATM. Wasted my time, energy & petrol (I only shop at Coles when they gave decent specials on). I don't like giving bad reviews but the staff are more interested in defending what they scan for than solving the problem. Poor form Coles.

  • Eryl Dana

Very convenient especially that it is opened 24hours and it is next to Kmart and cash converters, aswell as a cool show shop in the mall. Where else can you go wrong? Checkout Coles Burwood on Burwood highway it's 24hours the best Coles open 24 hours ever!!!!!!

  • Lou Empson

Missed cut off time to pay $100 spend with free delivery. No free time slots left for 4 days ( didn’t look after that). Coles really know how to lose customers! Really intent on getting an extra $5. How many billions of profit are they making? What a disgrace!

  • D A

The worst coles I've ever been too. Unfortunately it's my closest one. When you on the weekend the shelves are empty! I've recently had to do a few online shops as wel and the latest one had 8 items missing/out of stock and the correct things not picked.

  • Boon Keng Ong

On entry, you'll find the fruits and vegetables section on your left and on the extreme right back, you'll find the breads. The Store is spacious and wheelchair accessible. There are more self-check counters than assisted ones but help is always nearby.

  • Louis Milkovits

Very helpful staff. Widest grocery range in surrounding neighbourhood. Always good prices. Fresh food is exactly that - fresh! And open around the clock. Good spot. Only lament is not enough attended check-outs during peak times. Otherwise 5/5.

  • Jeff DeSouza

This is our go to shop for a top up of groceries and fresh food. It almost always has whatever we are looking for especially a good quantity of fruits, veggies and seafood. And there is always someone to help at the checkout if we get stuck.

  • Hugo Yu

I am so jealous of people who live in Burwood East. This Coles store is the only one (at least that I know of at the time I am writing this review) that opens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week apart from Good Friday and Christmas Day. Apart

  • Paul Hendrick

This store is huge compared to other coles stores in the eastern side of town, and it's one of their new model stores too. Very well presented and organised store, and quite spacious too, the isles seem a little wider than other stores.

  • Mary CW

I think this is one of the best Coles stores in terms of stock range. Its popularity ensures high turnover with fr & veg therefore mostly being very fresh. Sometimes also as a consequence of being so popular stock levels aren't always

  • Joshua Xu

Bro showed me where the thing was when I asked him, I said I searched but I missed it then he said “you just gotta look” like I hadn’t already Late middle aged balding with a crown of grey and black hair slightly overweight short guy

  • Al al

Conveniencely located next to Burwood One Kmart , plenty of parking as well as Aldi is just a short walk away if you fancy for a quick bites, well, plenty are within the Complex. Always busy during weekend, and Coles is open 24/7!

  • D YUAN

wanted $500cash out. Staff asked me to buy another chocolate bar or get nothing . Told me coles is a retail store not a bank. Lol this is not what you told me when you advtise about Coles wallet and credit card. …

  • C Barrett

Massive Coles, open 24hrs. Big range of ready made meals & snacks. All new self serve checkouts & a Coles with fresh pasta, fresh orange juice machine, large mix n scoop section & weekly specials (like Aldi) section

  • Rich Lawrence

Large Coles supermarket with good variety. Inside a medium size shopping centre so can't park directly outside the store and the car park is always crowded. Loads of coffee and food venues for a quick break.

  • Rebecca Richmond

Most times the phone goes unanswered and when it does you get put through to department with no workers. 3 times this time and then person on phone just hangs up. No goodbye. NO MANNERS......

  • Umar Ansari

Loved the beef burger! Delicious and full of flavour. HSP, Wrap and Oreo shake were also really good. Also tried the sweet potato chips which were also very good. Will definitely visit again

  • LWA (Living With Access)

I feel sorry for the staff, or lack there of. Only 1 assisted check out open with a huge line? Please do not make all coles like this or like target you will lose long time loyal customers.

  • L Y

Love thie Coles store as it's big, new and has a lot of varieties. It's easy when you park downstairs for groceries shopping. Even the self checkouts are nicer than any other stores.

  • Chris Raisin

The 24 hrs service in this large, well-organised store (with plenty of parking and with a large variety of food items, often at reduced prices) makes this an exciting place to shop.

  • dimitra zafiropoulos

Bloody disgusting! Was in there early in the morning and an older lady dark short hair in the bakery actually picked her nose whilst handling the bread with gloves on …

  • Stephen Ngau

Need More Staff Assisted Check out Counters for Elderly Customers. Coles is like ALDI where ALDI has the Worst Checkout system- Rushing & Treating Customers Badly.

  • Emran Edris

One of the best Coles I have visited. Huge variety of items compared to other branches, super friendly staff and always a pleasure to do grocery shopping there

  • Ravindra Ranjit

Nice shopping centre, but sometimes the items displayed on catalogue are not available on th shelf, from day 1 onwards, and we get told they ran out of it.

  • kenji daniel salcedo restrepo

Came at midnight and was needing cleaning stuff but couldn’t get it because was all blocked off , and was told they re open until 5 am . Not good enough.

  • John Hall

Just dropped in - not a geographic regular. Love the Daley Street Nespresso pods, which are cheap, Australian owned and tasty. Only available at Coles.

  • Phu Hoang

Best for late night snack shopping as it is open 24 hours. Not the best for day shopping as parking is a nightmare and lack of stock availability.

  • Upeshala Herath

Great store and helpful staff. Previously was opened at 24 hrs, that is very helpful ,will see again that after this situation wil be controlled !

  • John Fry

I was impressed. I normally shop at glenferrie road and Camberwell stores and burwood east was more satisfying when manovering around the store .

  • Luke Felthman

One of the best and Coles I've ever been to near my area has pretty much anything you need. Also, it's open 24 hours, which really helps.

  • Norman Chia

Flagship Coles store. Lots of self-serve kiosks and conveyor belts. Huge range of goods. Self-make coffee and juice machines in store.

  • Ross Hamstead

This has to be the biggest Coles store I've been in in my life!! WOW!!! I mean it is big. Such a huge range of...well everything.

  • Warren Ferguson

Don't like the lack of checkout assistance as you have to scan everything yourself 90 percent of the time. Otherwise fine.

  • Arrow32 Green

Worst store I have ever been will never be going back the entire store is just dirty very unhealthy food still being sold.

  • what ever

Staff Piper almost clashed me with her multistories trolley, but she didn’t apologise then walked away. 1st June, 2:55pm

  • Joe Bognar

Good selection of products but they have removed ALL check out staff forcing you to self check out for the same price.

  • Jock Mc Grock

not as good no personal service all like robots this self service all profits not as good like before. get robots

  • Ray Christy

Probably the best Coles in the area. Always well-stocked and polite & helpful staff. Highly recommended.

  • Sheila Larrosa

Excellent. The best thing is that it closes at 2 or 3 am. You find everything and it gives you trouble.

  • liz whyte

The fresh food is FRESH and the store is clean, well organised, well stocked and the staff are friendly
