COLPETTY MOSQUE TOUR A GRAND SUCCESS! Posted: 28 Jan 2019 08:22 PM PST We had our 14th Open Mosque Day at Beautiful Colpetty Jumma Mosque today. There were around 800 visitors of other faiths who participated including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, Former President Mahinda Rajapakse, Sagala Rathnayake, JVP MPs ,Government Officials, Police Officers, Foreign Tourists and Journalists, among many others Besides a tour of the mosque, visitors were served traditional Muslim foods, taken around a walk-through of posters clearing misconceptions of Islam, given free souvenirs of their names in beautiful Arabic calligraphy and for the ladies a special henna corner

Kollupitiya Jumma Masjid is a mosque located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was constructed in 1908 by the Muslim community during British rule in Sri Lanka. The mosque has a distinct Egyptian-style architecture with minarets and a dome on top. It is one of the oldest and most prominent mosques in Colombo and is visited by Muslims from all around the city. The mosque has a capacity of around 2000 people and is surrounded by several halal food shops and other Muslim establishments. Today, the mosque serves as a place of worship for the local Muslim community and also attracts tourists interested in Islamic culture and history.

Spacious mosque with good prayer facilities and good (new) washroom areas. Ladies prayer facility available. Parking is a challenge . Roadside parking only, busy times during Jummah a great challenge to park.

Convenient mosque at the heart of Colombo's commercial region of Kollupitiya. Have separate ladies prayer area to the left of the mosque. Well maintained and managed. It's one of the Markaz too, with Thursday night sermons and can stay overnight for I'thikaf. Parking is a bit trickier during Fridays and prayer times.

One of the few masjids where women prayer area is in the ground floor. A huge plus for above 50, arthritis affected ladies like me. it would be so helpful if they could convert the toilet to western type too. And increase the ladies prayer area during ramadan. …

Beautiful masjid. Ground floor air conditioned. Usually the masjid is packed on Fridays for Jummah sermons. It’s located next to the Temple Trees (Prime Minister’s House). You have to park on the road only. It has two big main entrances. Very clean and calm place.

A grave is hidden behind the wall right in front of the praying area in the direction of the qibla. Not enough parking space. Toilets are not in the best condition. Police issues tickets to those who visit the mosque to pray saying parking …

This mosque is fully air conditioned and the ambience is great. They do have a counter for footwear along with a person assigned to issue tokens. Parking is a problem around the mosque area since it's a high security zone.

Place I go for prayer during weekdays as this is in walking distance to my office. Place is very crowded fod jummua prayer. Nice clean masjid at heart of Kollupitiya. Ladies prayer room also available.

Nice neat silent place to offer salah. Markaz of the area. Beforw this was the main grand Markaz. Washrooms ablution area all are very neat and tidy. Very friendly and caring people.

It's the house of Allah. Its was my first mosque to pray jummah prayers when I came to Colombo to work in Kollupitiya. Now it's very big with air conditioning. I love this mosque.

Very clean & specious. Love this as it has dedicated area for women praying. Be wary of people asking donation at the entrance. Make sure you put money in donation box yourself.
