Very disappointed on my last visit. Walked in to get my FGTS (a type of governamental "tax return") process started. First of all, there wasnt a single soul giving people information or directing people to the right "waiting line". There were several computers and front desk spots... but just 2 people calling people from the waiting room (every once in while somebody would come from the back of the office to do something on computers of from desk ... but none would ask if people on the waiting room needed some assistance or help). So, I walked in and, since nobody gave me instructions of where to go or what to do (and the only 2 people that were working on the front desk were assisting somebody else) I decided to seat down and wait for my turn. Waited for 45min before somebody asked me what I was there for. I informed him and he said: please check on the "desk #1". There wasnt a person working on "desk #1". So I waited for another 10min or so before somebody come from the back of the office to help me. She finally explained what I needed... I told her that I didn't have the copies of the documents with me (my bad!). Only have the originals. She informed me that they only could get the process started with the copies (Fair enough!). I asked if she knew where I could get the copies done (somewhere around the office) and her answer was: we are closed! It's passed 1:00pm and we close at 1:00pm! I mean, I was seating on the waiting room for the last 45min (walked in at 12:15pm). Nobody checked on me till 1:10pm. And when they came check on me was to tell me that they close at 1:00pm? Come on! Luck me that, furtunite, I live in Houston. Imagine if that was somebody that live 7h/10h away...? Hopefully they can get things organized, be more helpful... put themselves on other people's shoes. I will need too go back there next week to try to get my paperwork running (this time with the copies on hand). Hope it works. Have a great weekend, folks!

Fantastic service! Just fantastic! I gave them my Visa Application, a photocopy of my State Issued I.D., and my roundtrip tickets to Sao Paulo for my trip there in July and without hesitation the very nice woman behind the counter working that day at the Consulate on April 25th gave me and another woman who was originally from Sao Paulo but lived in Houston with her husband and 4 children our Tourist Visas within as little as 15 to 20 minutes! The woman from Sao Paulo was getting her husband's Visa and the same woman behind the counter called us both to the counter 15 or 20 minutes after looking at our applications accepting them immediately and gave us both our Visas! She was so nice in fact she told us both to look at our Visas to make sure our Passport numbers were the same saying that if they weren't she could run them through the machine again to correct them. Super super nice woman! I had an absolutely great experience with everyone who worked there at the Consulate. They were so happy the day I got my Visa dancing to Samba music, cracking jokes with each other in Portugese etc. Very fantastic, wonderful and extremely professional people working here. Look forward to coming back here in 10 years if need be or whenever my Passport runs out of Visa pages! haha. Obrigado and keep up the great work! ^^ I am very grateful

Mr. Paulo, Mr. Alvaro, and Mr. Celso. Keep these names in mind! They are a few of the most helpful and willing people my mom and I ever met. Brazil has a bad reputation for providing bad service. However, this trio beats the odds! My mom and I arrived at the Consulate on Tuesday, June 16, at 9 am CST. For reasons beyond my control or the consulate, we were unable to schedule an appointment. Upon arrival at the consulate, not even 5 minutes later, we were greeted by Mr. Alvaro asking how he could assist. Once we presented our questions, he immediately contacted the other two gentlemen to do everything in their power to address and act on the documents we needed. Mr. Paulo and Mr. Alvaro answered a thousand questions with so much patience and a smile (sorry for keeping you during your lunch time). They checked on us often while the documents were being worked on. We are grateful beyond words. Not once did we intend to take advantage of their willingness to prompt assistance, but we were sure gladly surprised and appreciative of the amazing service provided! You guys are AMAZING! Thank you for assisting us every year with a smile on your face and making us feel that we did accomplish our goals since arriving at the Consulate!

6 months Update & Experience follow-up since my 2017 trip. I got to go to even another consulate and deal with a handful of Brazilians consulate employees assisting me with my VISA challenges. I want to stress, if it weren’t for the Houston Brazilian Consulate... I would of missed my trip to Brazil, lost all my money for the trip and would of crushed my mental state and the feeling of being able to accomplish that same travel I use to do walking but this time from the ♿️. I have ideas for the Brazilian consulate & Brazilain Travel Marketing team on how to make things more efficient and inviting to travel to Brazil for folks with and without disabilities if someone reaches out to me after reading this. Original: I’ve been to 3 Brazilian Consulates in my life. By far this location has the best service, friendly staff, responsive via email and most important fast turn arounds. Big thanks to the staff for helping me in a bind as I flew from Seattle to resolve some things. Treat them well they will treat you well, I wonder if the negative reviews on here have ever been to another Brazilian consulate. Thanks for the support!!!

Just visited the CG's office this past Friday and it was a good experience, if you have properly scheduled an appointment and have the appropriate documentation then the process is very smooth. I was there to get a visa and I was there roughly an hour and that was just because they system they used was having problems that day. Other than that I was in and out in a respectable amount of time considering the amount of people in the office. There was even a couple there who showed up without an appointment because they were stranded in Houston, but the woman at the desk helped them anyway. Although I would strongly recommend against showing up without an appointment because unless it's an extreme case like I saw, they are not going to assist you(but in fairness on the website they do tell you not to show up without an appointment so don't be surprised if you get turned away). The building is very clean and nice and there is a cafe downstairs.

  • Lila Costa

Very good experience. They were helpful, polite and fast. I needed to get a new passport, which usually takes up to 6 business days to be ready and I ended up leaving the consulate with my new passport in my hands. The consulate officer was very pleasant. Fabiana even asked if I liked the picture that she took or if I wanted to take another one. She also helped me to transfer my voting card from Brazil to the USA and even though I filled out the form asking to vote in Houston (where the consulate is located) she pointed out that since I live in Dallas, I could actually vote there. She corrected the information herself and helped me to save time and money avoiding a trip to Houston next Brazilian election cycle. I've dealt with embassies/ consulates in New York City and Santiago, Chile and I must say that the Houston team is by far the best one so far. NOTE: I visited the consulate on a Wednesday morning with no holidays coming up.

  • Jacqueline M

I needed two different types of services: passport for the whole family and my baby's birth certificate. I scheduled an appointment to come in and for my surprise we were the only ones at this place. Due to Covid-19 they schedule one by one. Odila took care of us helping in every way possible. She new we had to drive from Dallas and even though her regular job duties relate only to one of the things we needed, she did everything, saving us time . She also gave us very good advice on how to proceed once we got in Brazil with our new documents, a bonus that saved us time as well. She was pleasant and efficient.

  • Dustin Carter

How awful could you be to never respond to voicemails, or emails? I've been contacting these guys for over 2 weeks, on an urgent need, and they are simply CARELESS! I lived in Brazil for a few years, and this is NOT how Brazilian people act, so why they are so rude is beyond me. I need to find out if I can fly to Houston from Utah to get my visa application done, but don't want to pay for the flights and waste money for my wife and I if I am to get there and be rejected service due to my state address. All I want is a lousy response so I can continue on with planning my honey moon! Seus Diabos!

  • George Frey

Organized and expedient. Read the instructions on the website and you are in and out. Treat the attendants how you would like to be treated and they will speed you along. I have heard of many US citizens complain about delays at this office but think it comes down to following the instructions properly and trying to rush folks. It will not happen overnight but usually only takes a few days. My visa's have only taken a few days. My wife who is a brazilian national actually got a temporary passport in 15minutes when she realized her old one expired and she had a flight that night to sao paulo.

  • Renan Brandao

They are always very helpful! But what brought me here today, was that I needed help from them recently. I booked a last minute emergency trip to Brasil and found out that my passport was expired. I was lucky to find Odila. She was very quick to answer me, went out of her way to help me out and made sure I had my passport on time for my trip. My family and I were already a bit out of hope but she and her team at this office made it happen. THANK YOU EVERYONE for all you do for us. It is really nice and comforting to know that we have our people here and that you care. Obrigadaoooo!!!!!

  • Sueli Mello

The BEST staff ever! They are polite, kind and professional. I had to get my boys passports renewed and also get a power of attorney which needs to be in person. Since we live in Dallas, they were extremely kind accommodating our personal needs making an appointment at the same day to get all done at the same time which I very much appreciated. It has been like that every time we need to come here. No words to express our appreciation for their professionalism and kindness. We definitely need that level of service at every consulate located all over the world.

  • Michael Guerrero

This place is terrible. The people that work at that office are all stuck up snobbs and they are not friendly what so ever. They talk down to you because they know you need them to get a visa. The lady that help me was very rude and when I asked a question she would shut me down and inturrep when I was talking. Will never go back to this place . I rather deal with a visa agency then to deal with these people. FYI Brazilians are very friendly . I have been to Brazil 2 times but these people that work here are like Nazi's. Beware of the Visa issuing lady!!!

  • Olu O

I applied for my Brazil visa the first of March...the lady that received it told me it takes 4-10 business days...Going for my brother’s wedding and I already got my ticket and my visa is not out.The man I spoke with said I come get my passport if I cannot wait and if I don’t get it by my travel date which is 26 of March that means I cannot go.First of all I am not excited going to Brazil if not for the wedding and I have the bride’s outfit.i am so sad and confused.Spent a lot of money on the wedding and it’s still pending

  • Bob Sr

I have had to go to this consulate many times over the years. They have just moved into a new office and I met new people. I had another good experience with this office. I was there to help my sister who lives in another state. Odila was absolutely wonderful. Very helpful, respectful, efficient and sweet. It is obvious she really cares about the people she is serving. She went out of her way to carefully explain and guide me through the process. It is so nice to deal with people who really care about doing a good job. She gets a 10!

  • Stephen Foyt

The staff of the consulate has been very helpful to me on two different matters, of marriage and CPF. They are very polite, friendly, easy to work with, and both times helped me with quick service. They are very knowledgeable, and it is obvious that they really care about helping the client. The environment of the office is nice, too. I have been incredibly pleased with my experiences there. In particular, Mr. Paulo Salvador has been very helpful, exceeding my expectations. I look forward to more excellent dealings in the future!

  • Popy Pissas

I used USPS as instructed on their website. Except that the directions are wrong, because all I needed was a very specific poa. The second step threw me off. I keep getting a message that the address is incorrect, but it’s not, because I did the 1st step using the address. There is no number to call, no one to help out and my power of attorney is somewhere between Houston and Austin. It’s always an issue having to deal with Brazilian institutions. Can somebody give me a tip on how to get my POA back? Thanks

  • Geralda Botnick-Corretora

I had an appointment and still had to wait for 3 because there was only 1 window open. One of the staff asked to assist me and I said that was to renew passport, than she pointed the that only window opened and said she can help you... making a long story short turned out that was on another location. We all know that the waiting area is small.. The staff are exceptional EXCEPT MARGARENE, she is the reason for 2 stars, she is rude/arrogante and tried to cover her mistakes by blaming others.

  • Daniel Accorsi Miranda

Probably the most excellent public service I had the chance to use ever, US or Brazilian. For several years visiting the consulate for many passport renewals, birth certificates, marriage certificates, they always were able to help me in a cordial and timely manner. Lately I had to do several visits for "Procurações" and "Autentificações" and they go above and beyond to help. They also have a kids play area which is certainly very useful for when you need to bring the children.

  • Erika

I felt like a deer in the headlights when I first arrived. I was asked different times by different team members if I had done my check-in and reassured that I would be called promptly. Mr. Alvaro - team member and the Vice Consul Mr. do Santos went above and beyond to assist me. In addition, I was also able to drop-off my passport documentation all in the same day. I can't wait to go back home, considering that now I am able to do so. Thanks y'all!!!

  • Blair Jackson

The people there made the transaction amazingly easy! I was seen immediately and the lady made me feel super excited about my trip! I also saw how willing they were to help people that didn't quite have everything they needed. I drove 3 hours to get my visa and I was expecting to have to wait and run into red tape but I didn't! The only problem I had was finding where to park because the building is being renovated. THANK YOU!!!

  • Aline Campbell

Every time we come to this place, we leave saying: “WOW! They’re all amazing!!”. I’ve been using their services since 2017 for passports, marriage and birth certificates and so on. The staff is perfect, they make it so easy and personal. It’s impressive how they’re truly kind and helpful. Odila is a gem. I’ve never seen anyone nicer than her. I’m beyond happy with my experience here, and it’s this remarkable every single time.

  • Jose Alves

I have been in many places in the world and can definitely tell there in no hearts and souls warmer than Brazilians. If you ever visit the Brazilian consulate in Houston, you will know what I mean. Great people, doing great services always with a smile in their faces and the genuine interest of helping you and welcoming you to Brazil. An example of what customer service should be everywhere in the word, it makes me feel proud!

  • Alberto Schirmer

My wife and I had difficult documents to be prepared. The Consulate staff, Mr. Celso, Mr. Alvaro, Mr. Paulo and Mrs. Fabiana were extremely helpful, and we were able to get the documentation much faster than we expected. The Consulate staff also accommodated my mobility needs. The Consulate facility accessibility is very good and my wife, as a teacher, enjoyed seeing the children's recreation area.

  • Sarah Bv

This consulate has the best staff ever. They are friendly, polite and efficient. I had the opportunity to be helped by Mr. Álvaro, and I’ll give him 5 stars. I couldn’t have had a better experience. Also Mrs. Odila, that helped me in the past, was also of a great help, and share the same qualities as Mr. Álvaro! Congratulations to Mr. Celso, the vice consul, for this great team. Jussara Veiga

  • stephanie sevier

Let me make your life easier (if you’re like me and you’re driving for hoursssss to get there) 1. There’s no signage there, follow the gps and get to the parking garage - it’s a lower level one 2. There are glass doors in the parking garage, go through them 3. Check in, go to the 11th floor You need an appointment to be helped as far as I know. The workers are very nice and helpful :)

  • Rosecler Marmentini

I totally agree with the previous review that says there is no heart and souls warmer than Brazilians. Today I arrived 20 minutes before the consulate opened. Pedro saw me and immediately opened the consulate and assisted me. That was extremely nice and thoughtful. The entire staff is always very kind, professional and helpful. Thank you so much Pedro!

  • Alexandre Goncalves

Wow, so very thankful to have come and be helped by Alvaro. We have travelled from Tulsa, OK. Exhausted we were welcomed! Not able to sign in electronically. Alvaro not only helped us but walked the second mile to accommodate our needs. Alvaro is definitely a person any professional business would like to have as a representative!

  • Beatrice Joseph

If I could give them more stars, I would. The Brazilian Consulate in Houston is an organized establishment filled with officers who are knowledgeable and courteous. I took my nephew in to get a document and they were very helpful. Our experience couldn't have been more pleasant. Muita obrigada Sr. Alvaro e Sr. Celso!

  • Wendell B

Beyond this world. Wonderful service provided by these folks. I was attended by Cynthia who was extremely cordial and professional. Just have all your paperwork ready, check on their website, and you won't have any issues. The staff at the building is also top class professionals. I'd rate six stars if I could.

  • ghassan sader

Very confusing. You need to make separate appointment online before you show up,if you missed anything, you have to get another appointment, wheels of bureaucracy turn very slowly especially hard if you are traveling 4 hours to get there.Cannot blame the employees, every appointment have to go through Brazil.

  • Odilton1

Great Consulate !! Available parking area and the location is easy to find it. Make sure to get everything done online before scheduling an appointment. The staff are very cordial, helpful, efficient and Professional. I left extremely satisfyied with the service. Great experience !!

  • Reginara Anholete

The building is beautiful, the room is cozy but pretty small. People are courteous and easy going. All that you have to do for a great service is follow the instructions on website before you go. Unfortunately I had to go back because I forgot my Brazilian ID. Is Not their fault.

  • Sophia Huber

The website lacks information, they don’t answer their telephone and don’t reply to emails. I sent an e-mail a year ago and never got an answer. Now I need some info and the website does not have. Besides what is written there needs update since BObama is not president anymore.

  • Camilla Bacelar de Araujo
