I needed a visa for a short trip to Switzerland. First, they need quite a bit of documents for the visa and second, their site is quite complicated so finding information is not easy. Sure, being a consulate you can work on your terms but appointments on phone only between 11 AM & 12 PM during weekdays and visa related questions only between 1 PM and 2 PM doesnt make life any easy. Anyhow, I got an appointment and headed there at 9 AM in the morning. Once I signed in and headed up, the elevator opened right in the consulate. The lady at the visa desk was very nice and helpful. She went through the documents and guided me on the document that I would still need. She also engaged in small talk which is a bit unusual for consulate people. I was in and out in about 15 minutes with all the information that I needed. The visa was also processed as soon as I emailed them the document. Overall a pretty good experience other than the issue with taking an appointment over the phone which took about 70-100 tries between 11 PM and noon on a weekday.

Had great experience. Walked-in on day / time of appointment. There is check-in counter and person there will check you name and let you in. You will be called in order of your appointment time (even if you come early, other folks with appt. ahead of you will be asked to show - up at window before you). At window they did a very thorough job, asked many detailed question, and were helpful. Make sure you have 100% itinerary for every night stay and travel arrangements within schengen area. If there is anything missing, you will be given opportunity to provide those bookings or additional docs via email. The emails were replied and acknowledged promptly. If you have family with you, they only kept one return envelope and all passports were sent back in one envelope. We received passports in 10 business days after our appointment. Make sure you have all supporting docs as requested from swiss sfo website. Overall: Very efficient, organized and smooth system. Musste hier einen provisorischen Pass machen lassen. Das Konsulat ist vom Standort her gut gelegen und einfach zu erreichen. Das Personal habe ich jedoch als unfreundlich und wenig hilfsbereit empfunden. Antworten auf Fragen wurden nur unzureichend gegeben und die Unterstützung war fast bei Null. Von einer Schweizervertretung erwarte ich definitiv mehr. Had to get a temporary passport made here. The consulate is well located and easy to reach. However, I found the staff unfriendly and unhelpful. Answers to questions were given only insufficiently and the support was nearly zero. I definitely expect more from a Swiss representation.

True to the Swiss spirit, this is by far the best and most efficient embassy/consulate I’ve ever communicated with. Had a few questions which I sent over email at night, the visa officer replied back by 9:30 the next morning. They were kind enough to even validate our previous Schengen visas whether biometrics are still valid and were extremely quick to get back. It certainly saved me a lot of time and booking last minute flight tickets to SF as I could plan the application appointment in advance. Having dealt with so many embassies/consulates and VFS, this has to be the Gold Standard.

Best visa experience of my life. I almost had a ruined trip because I couldn't get an appointment at any other European embassy. The Swiss embassy was so courteous and efficient (also what I found while visiting Switzerland). My husband had visited a few years ago so they were able to fast track his application because they had his bio data on file. I believe if you have visited May 2014 or later they still have your data. We got the visa in 2 days, he didn't have to take time off to pick it up, I dropped by and had it in 5 minutes. Thank you!

They can work very efficiently, and they got me my visa within a day, when I needed it for urgent business purposes. However, I cannot give a five star rating, since the first time I showed up at their door was one of the worst experience of my life. They asked their security guard to show me out without even meeting me in person. Even if they did not want to accept my application packet from me and insisted on using UPS to send it (a pointless cost and waste of time), there are more humane ways to say that.

Il est impossible de ne pas localiser immédiatement le consulat suisse lorsqu'on voit l'horloge dont je joins la photo. En fait quand on voit cette horloge, on se demande bien comment elle est arrivée là et on cherche ce qu'il peut justifier sa présence à cet endroit ! On trouve donc facilement le consulat suisse lorsque la surprise permet de lire les indications qui figurent sur le mât.

I received exemplary service when i visited this consulate for my Schengen visa application. The lady at the counter let us know that our finger print scans are good to go for 5 years, and we can apply for future renewals via mail. This would be my fourth Schengen visa, the service I received at the Swiss Consulate was the best of the fourth.

Be careful!! the visa officer doesn't seem to know what they are doing. They might ask you to book an appointment. After you've taken a flight and attended the appointment, they tell you on-site that they shouldn't have taken the case in the beginning, and you shouldn't have needed to fly there. Sorry for wasting your time and money.

They seem to be slacking off these days. Asked for a buttload of more documents that weren't listed in their checklist and I had to wait nearly 90 minutes to collect my passport. New: Got another visa after a year. Got it in 3 days, very efficient! This is a much better experience than having to deal with VFS, that's for sure.

1/ There is a confusion since this is the detailed information for the Switzerland consulat, when it is labelled as the French consulat... 2/ No one is answering the phone at the french consulat even at the limited hours they are supposed to be opened 3/ and of course the voicemail is saturated => la classe!

The previous reviewers already mentioned tough meeting hours, only 1 hour for phone calls, and a need to schedule an appointment month in advance. So I will not dwell on that. Instead, this 5 starts goes to great staff who understands urgency and are willing to help a person with tight deadlines. Thank you!

Polite, efficient and very clean. If your going know you will be in and out quickly. I have always had no problems with metered parking on Green St. If your driving into the city you should bring the family and visit the Exploratorium...if it's open. The exploritorium is fun for all ages.

My Schengen visa application process couldn’t be smoother! The officers and staff are really professional, responsive and helpful. The appointment system is also very intelligent and user friendly. Definitely the best experience I’ve ever had in visa application.

Came to renew my passport, very friendly staff, only about 10 minutes to complete everything. If it's your first time here, the entrance is on the right side of the building (if you're facing the building), most of the way down the pier towards the water.

The consulate of Switzerland of San Francisco represents their country very well. Efficient and courteous service! They went out of their way to research my situation and provided me guidance and direction on how to move forward with my consular needs.

I had a pleasant experience at Swiss Consulate in SF. I went there 15mins before my appointment and I was done before my actual appointment time. I also received my passport 1 day in advance. This was my best experience at any consulate.

The people are really nice here. I got my visa in literally 3 days. Don't forget to take all the documents from the required documents list found on the website. Also, to reach the consulate follow the red line on the side of the pier.

The only remaining public consulate in the state of California is open a total of 15 hours a week. This is not a reflection on the individuals in the consulate and their competence. But it is a reflection on Switzerland.
