Let down by front of house. After going to the plant sale we had a bite to eat in the always busy restaurant. The bearded guy with glasses on front of house did not look up from his screen to acknowledge us and left us waiting for an awkward length of time. All it would take is a 'I'll just be a minute' or 'Please bear with me'. He had a very miserable and superior demeanour which continued throughout our stay (we were sat next to him). I commented 'Service with smile'. He did the same with everyone else. They arrived smiling and I could see their smile gradually fade as he looked at his screen and didn't make eye contact. The food was OK, large portion for sandwich and chips, but nothing extraordinary. It's a shame to mark down the service as the waiters were the opposite, smiling, attentive, warm. We changed our mind and decided not to buy from the shop after the experience we had. Change front of house and get someone who does customer service.

Pass this place often and today decided to call in . Pleasantly surprised by the long driveway and hedged roadside !! Saw a car park on the left and drove in . There were several disabled parking bays . I noticed too that there were cars parked nearer the buildings and due to showery on off weather ventured down the narrow track . Whilst it s true there are a further 3 disabled bays outside the building space is a bit tight . It leads to the farm so you have to turn around here and space is a little limited for a small minibus! However I got in and was able to unload out of the back of my vehicle . There has been a lot of changes since I last came here !! I saw that there was now a cafe as well as a restaurant on site . I only really wanted a tea and a look see so went into the cafe . The door is wide enough for a wheelchair but is not automatically opened .Once inside there was space down the centre for me and this led to a small annexe with glass walls with a view onto a central courtyard. There were a few tables in there and room for my chair . It’s clean modern and the cake was lovely . Great place I have found if not requiring the restaurant itself .

Split into two here really hence the 4 stars, 5 stars for the food, its amazing the breakfast there is just fantastic. It inspired me to start making proper scrambled eggs (nice and creamy) and the service is also great in the restaurant. The shop is a bit limited given the space which is understanable, there also only ever seems to be one person serving the till and the deli counter which can take some time. There's also a garden shop section, which has plenty of choice, however the plants need a bit of TLC as a lot of them are covered in spiderwebs, which I don't mind, but would put off any arachnophobes.

Popped in for a birthday treat - lunch with my friend. We went for the two courses for £12:70 each . She loved her brisket roll and I had a really nice lightly battered fish supper as they back home ! We were held up by traffic but they had let our table for us - I tried to ring /text and let them know but no phone in restaurant’

Called in for a bite to eat and a bit of shopping on a recent Saturday. The plant and seed choices were fabulous, and prices are very reasonable. We purchased food and drinks from the takeaway. Good choice, although our sandwich was very dry. The shop has a wide variety of items from food, celebration cards, scarfs. Lovely to peruse. Every member of staff we came across was delightful. We will definitely be visiting again.

This is a hidden gem of a place which I only recently found out about. In addition to the garden centre there's a lovely restaurant and a fabulous gift shop with an eclectic mix of interesting items. They also do afternoon teas and these are quickly booked and have been highly recommend by several friends who had lunch there with me recently. We had a large party for our walking group "Christmas lunch" and the staff were really friendly and welcoming and efficiently catered for the large group. This place is well worth a visit whether to the garden centre, to have Afternoon Tea or a meal or even look for little gems in the gift shop.

Great place for afternoon tea. The staff were very helpful and courteous. They asked about allergys before making our sandwich and cake selection even though we'd stated it on our booking which I thought was very helpful. The food was extremely nice even took a box home as we couldn't eat it all . Also called in the garden centre there . Only small but very healthy and cared for plants. There is also a lovely sensory garden to walk around

Went here for lunch with friends on a Monday and enjoyed a good meal in pleasant surroundings. The buildings are some distance from the road, but the route is in better condition than the public road. There is also a gift shop here and an extensive garden centre. The car park was large, though fairly rough. There was plenty of seating inside the restaurant, but it was pretty full nonetheless - mostly older adults. Not a vast choice on the menu, but good food.

I have been visiting The Granary at Crag House Farm for a number of years. As a charity, I respect the good work they do, and see visiting the restaurant as a good way to support their work. Although the quality of the evening meals has been a little uneven recently, the breakfasts have been consistently excellent and pretty much the best in the area. On a positive note whenever I have raised a complaint regarding the meals, the staff have always offered to rectify the situation, which is nice to know. Regardless, I have stopped visiting for evening meals now and just stick to breakfast. I'm never disappointed with those!

  • Jude Freeman

Love this place! Always book when eating as it's so popular...a few miles off the beaten track but we'll worth a visit...visit the nursery while you're there as the choice of plants is amazing and such good value

Looks nice Good service but did not like our breakfast there The poached eggs were hard non runny My wife had the 5 items breakfast we assumed 5+toast apperantly the toast needed to be one out of the 5 so she ended having the hash browns with the veg sausages and poached eggs with no bread Oh by the way the sausages were over cooked as well. I told the staff and they were polite apologised and gave us a 10% discount which is why I am giving the stars Otherwise I regret going. We were taking our daughter who had a day off school for a treat. Got ruined.

  • Ali M

Lovely afternoon tea as a birthday treat for my mum. Nice cosy ambience in the little conservatory. Staff were lovely and attentative and the food was delicious, scones were huge and we took some home. The chutney in some of the sandwiches was so good that we bought some in the shop next door and the staff working there were so friendly too. Just a lovely place to visit where it feels like the staff really enjoy working there.

Lovely gardens with children's play area and view of aircraft taking off in the distance. The café is good but you can bring a picnic and eat outside. I bought a lovely pair of earrings and they have a good selection of birthday cards. Caring for Life is a worthwhile charity to support.

Only one criticism. I had a voucher for afternoon tea but as we just all had a full breakfast was told I couldn't use my voucher. Surely as the voucher was spent in the restaurant I feel it should have been redeemable.

Just had a very pleasant afternoon here. Mum is in a wheelchair and so this is an ideal place to visit. Both the cafe and garden centre are completely wheelchair friendly. We both had a cream tea, it was delicious and remarkably good value. All spotlessly clean with a lovely ambience. We travel by wheelchair taxi and there was ample space for him to park etc. Highly recommended.

Family lunch for 7 in conservatory today. Wide variety of dishes on menu plus specials on" the board". Always good service from a motivated team. Excellent food/gift shop plus a well stocked garden centre to wander through. Weather against us lingering in the garden but a superb lunch in pleasant surroundings . Nothing to beat it.

I went with a friend for a late breakfast, the food was excellent a five piece breakfast for under 6 pounds. Very fresh produce, the waiting staff are very attentive, efficient and helpful. This is a place I will definitely be visiting again. Next time we will book a table, although we only had a 15 minute wait which was ok, we looked around their wonderful shop while waiting. I would highly recommend this place.

Stopped in at Crag House Farm today for lunch. A beautiful Garden Centre, gift shop/farm shop with fresh produce. The Granary Restaurant services delicious fresh foods. The staff were friendly and welcoming.Crag House is the Headquarters to the Christian Charity Caring For Life. The Charity seeks to support disadvantaged and vulnerable people Leeds, definitely worth stopping in.

The restaurant is very popular and has a genteel buzz of an atmosphere. Tasty and very well presented food if a tad pricey. Always an enjoyable time there be it for coffee and 'cake' or a more substantial meal. Booking is advised as it does get busy.

Wow wow wow , bit expensive but worth the price. The quality of both the service and food is second to none. No wonder you have to book. They have disabled people working for them too which is another plus for me as this group of people are rarely included or involved with other business. Recommend a visit , a sit down and have some food and a visit to the garden centre too. Xx

Very good visit for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Very friendly staff and the food was very tasty and moderately priced all things considered. Some of the waitresses serving were slightly less than attentive, but friendly when you got their attention. Well worth a visit for the restaurant, the farm shop, the cafe, and the nursery. Highly recommended.

Fantastic food with friendly and attentive staff. Had a gluten free afternoon tea and it was absolutely delicious, loads of food too! Incredibly impressed with the quality of the food and presentation, usually gluten free options are somewhat lacking in taste and effort but Crag House Farm did a cracking job. Will be going back soon no doubt.
