"What a delightful surprise for a first timer! Museum and botanical garden combo definitely was the best way to spend a Saturday afternoon while visiting Jacksonville for the week!!! The museum art was impressive and unique! Most of the art was captivating and displayed with taste! The grounds were beautifully kept and each gallery room was one surprise after another! Truly enjoyed that aspect of the museum experience! The botanical gardens were my absolute favorite!!! Exquisitely kept and photo perfect! Their luscious gardens were a dream to walk through and offered a magical experience"

I LOVE the garden. There are new blooms monthly and plenty of seating to stop and enjoy your surroundings. Tuesdays they are open later and the garden has lighting throughout the walk ways. I definitely recommend seeing it during dusk and night time hours Beautiful view of the river. The museum always has great new exhibits every few months. The permanent collection is lovely. Even though I’ve seen it several times I still notice new things about the pieces. Plenty of restrooms. There is a cafe has indoor and outdoor seating. I have not tried the cafe yet but menu looks great. There is an artist that will perform music and/or singing in the cafe and you can still hear them quietly throughout the art rooms. Plenty of free parking. Don’t forget to walk around the outside of the building. To the right there is more parking with painted murals and access to the river. To the left where the large red double rings are there are a few bronze statues along the walkway next the the cafes outdoor seating

We as a group went to lunch at River and Post to celebrate grandmas birthday and decided to go across the street to tour the gardens. We didnt realize there is a strict absolutely NO posing photo policy. Even with out an assigned photographer, you are not even allowed to take pictures of each other in the gardens. We were not specifically dressed up (other than how you would to go out to celebrate a birthday lunch) yet We were followed the whole time we were there to make sure we didn’t take pictures. It was very uncomfortable to be scrutinized the whole time we were there. All that not say the new photo policy is very rigid and monitored by employees in the gardens. We used to love coming to the gardens to hang out , look at the river, and make memories. So sad to see it be monopolized.

Beautiful gardens on the river...plenty of sunny & shade spots, lots of great photo spots & an opportunity to picnic in the gardens. The huge live oak trees are breathtaking...winding limbs that touch down to the ground & continue growing back up. Pictures don't do them justice. You need to be immersed in them to genuinely appreciate their enormity. We spent all of our time enjoying the gardens. Next time, we'll explore the artwork inside. Thanks to Bank of America for free admission on the 1st Sunday of each month.

Absolute must-see museum! Gorgeously curated, so much variety, and fabulous rotating exhibits. The gardens are stunning and vibrant. I already can't wait to come back!! They have a kid-friendly area with interactive features, tons of accommodations available for the disabled and the neurodivergent. Staff are friendly, restrooms were clean, every space was immaculately kept. They are also home to what I've now decided is my current favorite piece of art (the Rooted Fungi set by Jill Hotchkiss)

Wow. Great local museum & gardens in a spectacular setting on the mighty St Johns River but lousy management. 11/30/23 beginning of the holiday season. Per website, no special exhibits despite extensive collections in storage, no concerts, no lectures, and docent tours start at $250. No free volunteer led tours like most other museums? Interesting classes but what a price tag. The “big event “ is shopping & champagne? Where is the creative community outreach? Wonderful local resource. So much opportunity squandered.

This is a must if you're visiting Jacksonville. The plants outside are well manicured and the art displays are very diverse inside the museum. Some of the art work goes as far back as 2100 BC. The art displays are grouped together based on art style and time periods in which they were created. Entry is $20, which I think is fair. There's also a list of people (students, etc.) who could qualify for a discount on a ticket.

Beautiful museum. Clean, well organized, employees are great and knowledgeable. The garden is fun for kids (don't climb the trees, we found out the hard way) there is a cafe by the kids area. I do wish there was a little more for the kids to do to get involved with the art. Stencil drawings, finger paint with water colors, build the pyramids or something more. Kids had fun regardless. Exhibits were fascinating. I do wish we had more Egyptian and Asian art.

We went on a Friday afternoon. The museum is actually free from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Fridays. Lovely place filled with interesting exhibits. I love the variability of the exhibits. From the beautiful gardens, to sculpture, art, they even had live music outside of the Asian Art Exhibit. I love the quiet peace and the mediums were Feast for the eyes. This is great for families, date night, or the individual. Definitely check this out!

The quality of this place is enviable. A true mix of an art gallery and an art museum. The cleanliness, size and variety of exhibits in the place are impeccable. The visit lasts around 3 hours, as the photos come out wonderfully, due to their paradisiacal scenes. One downside were some gardens that needed repairs, but all in all, it was well worth the visit. It has a kids area for children to play.

We love the discounts with Museums For All, allowing SNAP card holders to visit the museum for free. The gardens are gorgeous and the galleries are full of beautiful and interesting things. Great for all ages. There's lots of seating around and the outdoors seating is plentiful too. Not too crowded and very quiet and peaceful. didn't go to the museum cafe this time but would try it some other time.

I loved this museum! Lots of run art to look at with a super fun interactive section and the gardens were pretty given I came in October! I would say the only annoying part is if you want to take almost any pictures you have to have a permit for it which in a way I understand but the extent of the sheet that explains everything was a little much but over all an amazing museum and highly recommend

This was my first visit to the Cummer Museum of Art. It was much nicer and larger than I anticipated. Many, many exhibits of beautiful paintings, sculptures, and ancient artifacts spanning thousands of years. Unfortunately, on the day of our visit, the garden was closed due to weather. I highly recommend a visit if you're an art lover and even if not, do it once for the experience.

I’m a yes on this one. Although I felt that the gardens could have used a bit more TLC, all in all, the place was great. There was a very broad collection of artworks in the galleries and of course, the gardens were lovely. I was pleasantly surprised to find works by Lucas Cranach the elder, Thomas Moran, Thomas Cole, Winslow Homer, and even Norman Rockwell. Whatever your taste, I’m confident that you could find some gems here.

This is a beautiful place. My first time here, and I hope to come back. The gift shop has exquisite items and I succumbed to a beautiful silk wrap that I couldn’t resist. So much to see here. On this day, the flamingo topiaries were spectacular. Conversed for a prettier Experience. The grounds are wonderful.

This was my first time going to a museum and it was beautiful, all the exhibitions are so interesting specially The Age of Armor. The gardens are also beautiful but I took away 1 star because some of the plants could be better taken care of or maybe they were dead because of this time of year

This is a beautiful museum on the St. John’s River that has something for all ages. Featuring gorgeous gardens outside in a curated space the outdoors are a highlight for everyone. Inside are excellent art and sculpture displays. At the far end is a kids area recently updated and a great spot to let the kids play. Plus, a cafe is located inside with outdoor patio seating. A must visit when in Jacksonville.

Great museum. We stopped by during our quick visit to Jacksonville before we headed back home to Tampa. We loved the garden area the most even though it was super hot like it always is in Florida during summer . Nonetheless a great time for all ages and art enthusiasts alike.

This is an absolute treasure in Jacksonville. The differing exhibits and art work speak to the culture and creativity of humanity past and present. The garden is breathtaking. I saw a few plants that I have at home that I will be pruning. I was able to view the Deborah Roberts collection. Collages were very creative and quite exquisite.

One of my favorite arts museums in the Country. Why, because it is so easy to get to, never overcrowded, and the museum isn't so large that you feel overwhelmed by the size. The garden in the back is so peaceful, a nice place to walk, and take in the St. Johns River and Jax skyline.

What a nice little surprise. My husband even really liked the variety and "wow" of several things. And then in the garden, the fabulous old old oak that just kept going. You definitely have an hour to work this into your day. Your head and soul will thank you.
