When I went to buy popcorn, I smiled at their team member and said "Happy New Year". He turned his face to the till and said it back with a robotic face and looking at the till. I felt disgusted, because I know how hard is to work on New Year's Day and how nice it's to be treated like a human by customers. he obviously didn't appreciate and took it on me the fact that he had to work on New Year's Day. I then asked for my popcorn and noticed cards asking for feedback. I took one of them and asked him "Would you write your name here, please?". He said "What?". I repeated the question not looking at him again. He said "Only if you give me a good review". I didn't say a word back. He then wrote a name "Luigi" on the card, but I very much doubt his name I'd Luigi. He has a very strong Eastern European accent. I'm half Italian, I lived in Italy and there's no way that guy was Italian. He's tall with strawberry blonde hair. The popcorn was cold. Screen (I don't know which one, but I was watching 'One Life' on 1st Jan 2024): - The chairs have numbers, but the rows have no letters, or at least very hard to find. You have to guess your row and I ended up having a discussion with an elderly lady because I sat in the wrong row by mistake. I noticed other people also looking for the letters, not finding them, getting confused and helped by people that were already sat there (as there were no members of staff on the premises); - Chair rows very near one another and people having difficulty to pass through people already sat down without hurting them; - We could hear the movie from the other screen when our movie didn't have much noise. - No ticket control at all, I guess being the reason why the screen venue was so full. I used to love yor cinema years ago, but I'm not coming back, I'm afraid.
Will not come here again. I ordered my ticket and some food and prepared to pay with cash…because I had cash not card…and the millennial behind the counter, whilst sweet, proceeded to tell me they had “cashed up for the day”!! So it’s only card. And please understand this as 5pm on a Monday. When the cinema would have only started to get busy! Then thru discussion and convo there seemed to be a switch in the reason for not taking cash. The first reason actually…was “oh the system is down so card only”. Say what? Hahahahahaha. You need a system? To take cash? Seriously - which is it?! In the end she very “kindly” like she’s doing me a favour….took my cash and paid on her personal card. There were not signs saying they’re cashless. But I’m assuming they are? I do NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE for that reason. That’s the deal breaker for me and it ought to be a deal breaker for all of us…to keep us free. The next issue was the tiny cinema room had its door wedged open…no one came to close the door when the film start time came. And there was light and hustle and bustle of the counters just outside. I ended up getting off my fat backside and closing it for all of us. And we had a happy evening. :D. As much as one can watching napoleon and all the scary fighting.
Piss poor standard Cinema which I associate as being significantly worse than Odeon and EveryMan. Firstly, there barely was enough food when we went for our 7pm showing. We were told most of the snacks were out of stock. To make things worse, the elevator at Curzon wasn’t working, and they clearly couldn’t be bothered to inform patrons who may be disabled or unwell. This is ableist, considering I’ve suffered a health condition (Sepsis) which makes me unable to walk up stairs in the meantime. Secondly, the portion sizes for drinks were absolutely pathetic. I ordered an Oreo milkshake which costs £6, and was only given a small jug. How the hell does the British public even think Curzon is an upscale cinema? At least Odeon offers a wide variety of other food and drink options such as Nacho crisps and soft drinks.
Was informed just before going in that there was no air conditioning which, whilst they had apologised, it made it extremely uncomfortable the whole way through - felt duped that we were informed at such short notice, Would have thought they would offer a discount given the discomfort. Also, there were unclean toilets and poor sound quality (music was loud but actors speaking wasn’t loud enough). Really want to support this cinema but hope it can improve on these!
This cinema is fabulous! It has a really decent bar and cafe. Comfortable waiting area. Clean toilets. Seating is great and very comfortable. Lovely staff. It shows lots of mainstream as well as different kinds of films including foreign language ones. It has a great membership package too. It seems to be attended by the more discerning customer too, noone talked or used their mobile during any of the films I saw, which was a very pleasant suprise..
Love love love this gem of a cinema! Cosy comfortable seating, friendly helpful staff, and a good selection of snacks and drinks too- even some nice whiskies, which you get to drink from a glass tumbler!! There’s a bar to chill& chat with friends before or after the movie. Membership is very reasonable- and you get free tickets so feels like a win win. We especially love it because this feels like a grown up cinema club!
One of my worst movie experiences when I went for the first time for Barbie with family. Way more expensive than the Odeon with a budget sound system (we were at the back and couldn’t hear parts of the movie - too quiet), and the AC didn’t work in the summertime so everyone left soaked in their own sweat by the end of the movie. Awful experience, rip off and would not visit again.
Nice cinema but has gone downhill of late. Had to leave recently as the sound was faulty and the staff never even checked after my complaint. I have also been and lights have been left on in the screen and it's just become a bit poo. So sad. Would rather travel into central London for a better branch like Soho or the wonderful Bloomsbury. Wimbledon can burn. It's toilet.
The worst cinema experience we've ever had because the air con was broken, and they didn't tell us beforehand. I informed them and they did nothing and let us sit through 3 hours of Oppenheimer in a sauna. Also a lesser point, the toilets were pretty dirty and most had no toilet roll etc. Really wanted to like the cinema but will be avoiding from now on!
Small cinema with only a few screens. Seating is quite compact, no recliner function or headrests. Sound not as loud as other cinemas. Comprehensive drinks menu. Coffee milkshake and large red wine was just under £16. Drinks holders on seats not very suitable for milkshake cup it was in. Might struggle with cocktail glass also.
Lovely little cinema. Great for locals to see less mainstream films on the big screen. Really friendly staff, the cafe area is great for meetings during the day or to work as it’s usually nice and quiet and they make a decent coffee too …
Nice little cinema in theory. Not sure if it was just last Friday or it’s always like that but it was so unbelievably stuffy in the room even though it was only about 20°C outside. Some air con and ventilation would be great.
Went to cinema last night. Air conditioning not working. Staff didn’t offer other options of rebooking or refund or even beverages to keep us cool. It was a sauna, I developed a migraine and felt unwell after attending.
best night EVER watching taylor swift the eras tour film!!!! had the whole screen to ourselves so could sing and dance the night away. great drinks and snacks, lovely staff, can’t wait to go again!!!!! …
Love Curzon for watching films, really lovely people use Curzon. No mess on the floor, just brilliant. Watched The Great Escaper, what a beautiful film with Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson.
The food, staff and drinks are awesome and don't even get me started on those cocktails. The vibes... immaculate. But for the love of god please get some air conditioning in your screens.
What a great cinema and venue - it is a privilege to have in the neighbourhood and really contributes to the local community.
Great independent cinema in the heart of Wimbledon with a nice bar and cafe.
Love the atmosphere in this place, so much different than multiplex cinemas
