I made a VIP reservation 2 months ago for my little sister's bachelorette party, and I confirmed it a week ago with the same person, Jason. I was told to come to the front of the line with the party, they would usher us right in, and we hammered out all of the details twice. We arrived, and security staff, though they were fairly polite about it, acted like we were mistaken out of the gate about the reservation. They had us stand there waiting for confirmation instead of inviting us in to wait, came back out saying both owners didn't know anything about it, and nobody could find Jason, though they all seemed to know exactly who we were referring to, and people were “seemingly” calling and trying to get ahold of him. They made us move out of the line onto the sidewalk, and we stood there another few minutes waiting for them to figure their confusion out before we decided to give our business to another venue. We went to CC Slaughters and had an amazing time, and the drinks were reasonable. We had no VIP, but we had super short waits for drinks, the bartender was amazing, and the shows were so awesome. We saved at least $200 NOT going to Dixie's. I do not recommend booking with this venue for any events you care about. They will disappoint you. The owner has responded to the husband of a bridesmaid, who has also posted a review, stating that we were turned away, because we were visibly intoxicated, stating that our memory of the event and the way things played out is compromised due to our level of inebriation. He also stated that they do not offer private VIP access, which is untrue. I called them from the number I pulled from the website where it advertised their VIP area. You can check the website yourself. We were not turned away. We left of our own accord because of the unprofessional way in which our reservation was being handled, and because we were tired of waiting. We watched hordes of super young, scantily clad people enter while we waited. If you want to discriminate against older people, fine, but don’t let someone book a once in a lifetime experience with you, and then drop that on them the night of the event. State up front that you cater to a specific, barely legal clientele, and don’t try to save face by pretending we are drunks. I feel as my sister does; I’m not interested in a response from you, Dan. I do feel other people deserve to know how you treat people who have planned to do business with you in good faith, who you do not follow through and take care of. I wish you good health, and to have exactly the level of business success that you are deserving of in your caliber as a business owner. Be at peace knowing we will never visit your establishment going forward.

Last night was my first bar crawling experience for Santacon 2023 and I had a blast. We started here at the Dixie Tavern for check in and ordered a couple of drinks and some food after we got our bracelets. I got the raspberry cheesecake specialty cocktail along with their Dixie lemonade and they were both delicious and only about $8-11 each. My friend, wife, and I all also shared a couple of Jell-O shots which were only $3 each and they were absolutely delicious, they gave us a nice little buzz to start our night. We ordered 1lb of waffle fries which comes with 3 dipping sauces for only $10, unfortunately since it is SO LOUD in this bar the bartender misunderstood me and gave us regular cut fries. The fries were still delicious though and it was so loud I didn’t want to bother with a replacement and we enjoyed them anyways. Aside from the excessively loud music (and honestly that could just be personal preference, but the two people I was with complained as well) we had such a blast and we can not wait for Santacon 2024!!! LGBT FRIENDLY!! SAFE BATHROOMS AND SAFE/CALM ENVIRONMENT. STREET PARKING AND IT IS PAID PARKING. NO ENTRY FEE.

I was bride that was turned away with my bridal party at Dixie that has been referred to in the previous post. My sister made reservations 2 months prior to last night and confirmed reservations a week ago. We were not “visibly intoxicated” as the owner has previously claimed to save face. When we arrived there was no one in line. When we let the staff know we had a reservation they had to go in and check. In the mean time we were asked to stand where the line would start to get into the club. I had assumed so we were not taking up the sidewalk. Though yes the staff was polite they never once even asked if we wanted to go wait in the bar or if we wanted to come in without the VIP reservation they claim we didn’t make. When the line started to grow we were asked to step back out of line where we were previously standing. Weird right? Then they continued to let everyone in that was behind us. They let us stand there for an additional 10-15 while we waited for them to “find out” about our reservation. We told them the reservation was made with Jason. I could not help but feel like we were not allowed in because we were all more mature women that are 30-60 years old and not the clientele that they wanted to attract. We were embarrassed and left hanging with no answer or invite into the club. So we did decide to move on. To the owner: I do not want a response from you. I am so disappointed in your previous response to my friend and how your club turned us away when we were there to celebrate a once in a lifetime event in your establishment. I hope this is not standard practice.

What makes an interesting bar? Interesting people and variety make an interesting bar and when I returned from a 10 day Ibogaine Treatment at Casa Santa Isabel in Mexico, I dipped in for one drink at the Dixie Tavern. My flight landed in PDX and the MAX transported me downtown Portland in old town. The Dixie tavern had a nice Atmosphere of important features. They have a long bar for those who need to interface with a cocktail server and thankfully she was young and attractive. They had Michael Jackson on the Dj's playlist which provided the 5 to7 dancers a chance to exercise on the area of the spacious flooring that was for the "dance here if you want to"- which pleased those of us who peppered the perimeter of the area as onlookers. Before I finished my one drink they passed the microphone to a Karaoke client (a regular who could sing). They have state controlled video poker for those of us who support our Schools. Then there is the stage.......The place has mutually inclusive components mentioned with space and variety.... 4.5

UNSAFE PLACE FOR TRANS PEOPLE!!!!!! I am a trans man & was reported to security for using the men’s restroom. I was confronted by a security guard, asking me to speak to him outside. I said no. Whatever it was he needed to say to me he needs to say it in an open space. I was told that I cannot use the men’s restroom. (If it matters, I was wearing masculine clothing, with a slight amount of makeup on, but overall masc presenting). Once I explained that I am a man, a trans man, he says “DOESN’T MATTER. YOU ARE A FEMALE, YOU USE THE GIRLS RESTROOM. IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE COME SPEAK TO OUR MANAGER.” I refused to speak to him any further and ended up leaving at my own will. Oregon has anti-discrimination laws that allow people to use the restroom that corresponds with their gender identity. It is my legal right. He needs to be fired. If you’re LGBTQ please protect yourself & do not come here.

PDX THIS IS NOT A SAFE SPACE. I used to come here all the time until I found out they were complicit in a woman going missing. They continue to block people and delete comments that question what the staff knows about the night this woman went missing. It was stated that the missing woman asked for a job application at the bar and was told to wait until after closing. Already that is extremely weird and unprofessional. And now she’s missing and the last known place was this bar. On top of all of that, this bar has CC footage that should be able to prove she left on her own if that was true and yet they refuse to release it. Dixie is NOT A SAFE SPACE. There’s also been a previous review stating that unfairly targeted a trans person. Please think twice before giving them your business. Seems like they care more about money than the community they serve.

I had a blast at this downtown restaurant/bar/nightclub. Don't let the name "tavern" fool you, this place is a full-blown party. Kinda has a Coyote Ugly feel to it. My wife and I met friends for a couple of drinks. We had the entire upper loft and bar to ourselves, while a hundred+ others danced and mingled on the floor below. The crowd was attractive and fun, there are three bars (one that the ladies can dance on at times), and the menu has delicious offerings, including most bar food classics. There's good, stiff drinks served by vibrant, sexy bartenders and cool security staff that maintain a nice vibe. It's a good time!

  • Jordan Howell

Gotta be one of if not the best bar in Portland! Staff is generally very friendly even when they’re busy, especially the blonde bartender that works the main bar on the weekends. Super accommodating and nice. Drinks are pretty typical and fairly priced. Usually a very friendly and energetic crowd. Layout is great, you can chill upstairs, dance to the great music they have playing, or socialize at one of the tables downstairs, not to mention it’s just a really cool building with a great vibe. The bar never feels too packed and the layout is great, you’re never more than a few feet from one of the 3 bars.

I have worked at Dixie for 12 years now and this is because of many reasons. We are pushed to be the best we can possibly be in every aspect. We deliver great customer service, have scrumptious food, play all kinds of hits from all different genres, and we bring the energy and start the party! Always something exciting going on under this roof and we strive for it to be a safe environment for all Also! Cleanest bar/restaurant/club you will find yourself in Definitely worth checking out! And I bet you’ll keep coming back

Melissa was one the sweetest bartenders who served us and was very generous and always smiling loved how hard she was working with everything happening in the bar Well it was karaoke night and so people get drunk on a Sunday and sing songs they can't sing lol. It could use a pool table or darts I had the smash burger and it was definitely smashing I highly recommend it ! Go try it you won't be disappointed.. It was my final stop before I left Portland and I was sooooo satisfied

Honestly very disappointing experience and I didn’t even get inside. Stood outside in the for 30 min and watched as the bouncers let multiple groups bribe their way in and not have to stand line. I used to go to Dixie all the time, but after that experience I don’t think I will be. Security that takes bribes, doesn’t seem very “secure” to me. Brought it up to the short bouncer with long black hair and the taller guy with a short pony and all they had to say was “thanks bro”. Terrible customer service.

  • Madison Alderman

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE MISSING FROM YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY…a young lady went missing from here after inquiring about a job application and staff told her to stay until closing (sketchy as hell) and they won’t release footage that they have of her leaving “alone”. If you love your livelihood, DO NOT EVEN LOOK IN THEIR DIRECTION!!!!! SAFETY ABOVE FUN!!!! THEY. DO. NOT. VALUE. YOU. AS. A . HUMAN.❗️❗️❗️❗️

Pretty good... I had the chicken Caesar salad and my partner the house made mac and cheese. They were both larger than expected, so leftovers for lunch... hers was good; mine was surprisingly well. The chicken was tasty and had a good peppery roasted flavor, although a little dry. The salad proper was... well, it’s a Caesar, but the Romaine was crisp and fresh. The croutons were small and not exciting, but the cheese and dressing made up for that. So, better than I expected.

  • TK 5315

Terrible experience. Just wanted to go dancing with some friends. Stood in line for 30 min and never even got in. They weren’t even that busy, beside my group of 3 there was maybe 10 other people in line. We watched as multiple groups got out of line from being tired of waiting. We got to the front of the line and then proceeded to watch the 5”4 bouncer with long dark hair let over 3 groups bribe their way in before us. Used to love going to Dixie. Pretty scummy experience.

  • Valerie Haney

The place was perfectly packed. You could still move around, get drinks and dance. All the staff were great, the music was good; they mixed it up with hip hop/dance hits with a twist of country. And the lighting was perfect!! Not to dark so you could actually see everyone. They have these awesome cups that glow florescent blue which have everything a fun party vibe. And they have an outdoor patio where you can smoke. Best place I've been to in Portland so far...

  • Michael Martello

My Boyfriend and I Went there for Karaoke. A New Friend of ours decided to bring us there. All was good in the beginning until this Bartender not Sure her name charged me for 2 beers on my Tab. And gave me a Problem once my Other half and I kissed in their. We brought our friends that night. She did give me the 2nd beer but with a Moody Attitude. I would not recommend going there. I felt insulted and disrespected. I Wanted her Fired for How she treated Us.

  • Evette Gonzalez

If I could leave negative stars I would. We waited 2 hours in line near the front and never got to the door. Ended up leaving instead. Security was charging 20$ per person as “tip” to get in and then there was still a 15$ cover charger per person. Do not waist your time at this place. This place is pathetic! We went to CC Slaughters and had an amazing time, no long line, inexpensive cover charge, and the slushee drinks and Jell-O shots are amazing!

  • Nicole Danley

I love how this place has rules to keep the patrons from being overly drunk or ridiculous. I didn't like how small the bathrooms were, but that's easily overlooked. Our bartender was super awesome, I believe her name was Crystal? Long blonde hair... Anyway, even when it was completely slammed she still managed to be in top of drinks for my entire ground the whole time, even remembering our names and what we had been drinking.

  • Stacy Jones-Malik

Super loud, incredibly hot inside and it seems like I ventured in on some sort of middle-aged-divorcee themed night. There was a mix of super young drunk college aged kids and 40/50 somethings wine drunk and dancing their divorce heartache away. ADA accessible, which was cool. And once and hour(or something) the "hot" bartenders get up on the bar and drop cherries by the stem into men's mouths, I assume to be sexy. It isn't.

  • Ramón

This is my favorite bar in Portland. One time I had a little moment with another dude there and rather than kicking me out of the security guy listened and let us both stay. He totally had the right to kick us out. Great people work there both behind the bar and doing security. Also I love the dance they do, even though it's the same dance every night the girls really put their all into it.

  • Barney Burnett

Very popular with the younger crowds on weekends and night club enthusiasts. I like their menu, and patronize often for takeout that is average in affordability, but high above average in quality. I especially like the pork sliders and tater tots, not too fatty for comfort food. Also, if you eat there during happy hour, the prices are much more affordable.

  • Alexis Bradley

Extremely fun bar! Only giving it a 4, because a staff member asked my friends and I to leave stating one of us had drank too much, but we were standing at a table having a conversation when asked to leave. We were all extremely confused as to what they were talking about as we had been standing at the same table for over an hour each having only 2 drinks.

  • crystal welch

Great bar, great dance floor, awesome servers, great vibe tucked right in the middle of downtown Chinatown Portland. They block the street off this strip of bars and clubs for people to walk in the streets like a promenade. Food served inside along with many food trucks within walking distance. The famous Voodoo donuts less than a 5 minute walk away.

  • Glynn Praesel

A nice tavern that has a country ambiance. Mostly hip hop music but they will slip in a country song or two. Should be a good part of town but because of homeless issue it is all sketchy and worth keeping an eye out all the time. Do not venture to far. Some areas much worse nearby.

The beer was cold, music loud, and girls hot. They serve all drinks from a can instead of a tap, but that didn't cause them to have problems with slow service or running out. We were part of a private party upstairs, so we had a private server, game table, and bathroom. Plus, the ability to people watch from above. Good time was had there.

  • Chris Varela

Drinks seems watered down with low call alcohol. Didn't enjoy one drink there. Bartenders unfriendly. Great doorman though and awesome crowd. Music somewhat mediocre. DJ didn't play a variety of music but was packed after midnight for sure. Wouldn't want to go there again as it's in skid row and I didn't enjoy the experience

  • Rosemary Ek Juarez

Waited in line for about 30 min and they failed to tell us the entry fee was 25$. The music sound decent but come on please have a sign indicating the price upon entry. I guess downtown is a whole new vibe and price gauge so be prepared to spend lots of money just on entry fees.

This is Portland's very own Coyote Ugly and I'm grateful to have once been a long time regular here. Great bar staff, fun environment, good food and drinks, and they always try to be festive. The security is a bit pushy, but it's like that everywhere. Absolutely worth checking out if you are in Portland.

  • sarah mottershead

Fun!! The DJ is cool too, for a couple bucks hell shout out etc. They do some fun stuff here like the bartenders dancing on the bar and stuff. I really like when they open the upstairs area but overall the space is good and bathrooms are always clean. good food too if you come earlier in the evening.

  • Tish L

Okay if you want a great place to let loose look no further... The ladies are cute and nice and the bouncers are sweet as pie! I believe my favorite was Nicole she hung out up stairs during leap day. She made my birthday nights amazing! Definitely go see her and pay your respect cuz she deserves it!

  • Dylan Burke

Definitely not my scene. It's fun for what it is. At least during Fleet Week it's so loud you can't hear anything. Good for dancing, but you probably want to like country/rap. They do a sort of Coyote Ugly thing where the bartenders get on the bar and dance; in reality, this feels weird.

  • Gabriel Cordova

We are from out of town and we were very excited to come to a place that had great music and great reviews. We were immediately greeted with rude staff and unsatisfactory door staff. These individuals made us feel unwelcome as out of tonwners and we will never revisit this establishment.

  • Sara Calavera

I paid a $10 cover to get in. I left and came back at midnight - they said they were at capacity but if I paid an additional $20 I could skip the line to go in. Hustlers… I laughed and had fun at a different bar for the rest of the night where the staff was more accommodating.

  • Jaime

Three stars at best, this is NOT a country bar if that’s what you’re looking for go to Bushwhackers in Tualatin that plays plenty of good country music and has swing and line dancing classes. The Bartneders were super nice though but the atmosphere was not country.

  • SOS Magazine

Location is good, good music but the drinks suck. We ordered three long Island, which took FOREVER! and it was the most water down drink I ever had. I mean if i wanted juice I would've just ordered juice. A total let down. Don't believe every hype you hear.

The most redeeming factor of this bar was the bartender. The bar seems great for those that are into country western music and line-dancing. The nachos were good but I found it strange that they didn't have any beer on tap.
