Had excellent lunch previously, so decided to try dinner. Appetizers and dessert were fine, but the mains were verging on cold. Restaurant was busy, and did not complain at the time. Wrote to management to advise them. The kitchen staff and servers have a joint responsibility to ensure the food they are serving is hot, which obviously was not done. In response to my memo I received attitude, with final words "do not contact me again". Great customer relations...they screwed up, and blame the customer for not saying anything at the time, and tell the customer not to contact them again! If they had done their job, they would have received compliments, but of course in their mind they did their job, so it was my fault. I definitely will not contact them again. (Bad news travels fast)

I've been shopping at this pottery since it opened 50 years ago….. for gifts, for myself and sometimes just to enjoy the beauty of Donn's creations. Over the years, he's added many different designs and glazes to keep old customers interested and attract a newer generation. In the past, I’ve added 6 gorgeous custom made mugs to my collection, which he graciously agreed to make according to my specifications. Not only functional, they are works of art and a pleasure to hold and behold! It's definitely worth the drive to Troy, a charming tiny town, and spend some time at the pottery. Donn’s kindness and generosity, especially when it comes to contributing to both local and worldwide causes, are well known and appreciated. Shopping here is truly a delight!

February 14 2018: We made dinner reservations at cafe troy with my wife for valentines day -- what a disappointment! We ordered our meal, and the bread and salad came first, then we received the main course. The chicken was poached with a mushroom gravy that had absolutely no flavour. The mashed potatoes still needed to be mashed as they were still lumpy, and the meal also came with half a baked tomato and two pieces of asparagus, lightly herbed and with a small amount of mozzarella dried cheese. I have never been to a restaurant in my life that poaches meat, unless you are boiling to make soup. It was by far the worst meal I have eaten, and was a disappointment for the cost.

What an amazing talent. I am always in such awe every time I watch Don throw pottery. It was always on my bucket list to take pottery classes once I retired, and had the ability to attend classes. I feel honoured to have been taught by the best. All the teachers at the pottery school are so kind, patient, and caring. It is such a beautiful studio, so inspiring. I have learned so much, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to actually create some useful pieces of pottery LOL! They will become presents from the heart ❤, for family and friends. Everyone should try pottery at least once in their lifetime. It is good for the soul and the mind.

We were introduced to this wonderful spot by friends. It is delightfully set in the greenery of the South Ontario countryside and surrounded by a beautiful garden. The lunch menu is top class. At our table we hugely enjoyed: carrot and ginger soup, salmon quiche, chicken phyllo and the berry salad special. We sampled carrot cake for dessert. Another excellent dish and not overly filling. The set price was excellent value. Service was friendly and very good. Later we browsed the Pottery shop and marvelled at the array of wares on display. We came home with a couple of items and a lot of good impressions. We will certainly go back.

What a great little place that I wish I knew about a long time ago. Had to wait a little while as reservation times got mixed up but the staff were more than accommodating. Went through the pottery store while we waited. Some superb work to be seen there. Outstanding actually! I am going back soon to buy a few things there for sure. We got seated quite promptly under the circumstances. The whole table experience was excellent. Had some Detour craft beer and some whiskey. Enjoyed the prime rib and cheese cake immensely. The Cesar salad was exceptional also. A must check out! We will be back, no doubt whatsoever.

Server, "John" did not exhibit good/nice intrapersonal skills. Much non-verbal communication and it wasn't pleasant. Actually, he seemed angry. Had shaved prime rib X2. Like deli meat and quite fatty. Came with 2 halved Brussell's sprouts. Mashed potatoes cold. Disappointing. Yes, we know about the new cook. Never asked how lunch was. Would give it 4 out of 10. John asked: Are you guys having coffee? Do you need the machine? It really seemed as if we were a bother to him. Very disappointing. Have been here several times before and it was OK. Don't know what happened today but NO desire to return. Ever.

I had the prime rib dinner tonight which is always nice. The stars of the meal where the wild mushroom bruschetta with brie, the potato leek soup, the mashed potatoes which unlike just about any I've ever had before. For dessert we took home our raspberry cheesecake which was awesome. The carrots were beautifully cooked evenly throughout with a very subtle flavor of maple perhaps? Only the green beans were a bit hard to handle with my less than perfect denture. Lovely setting with attention service If you are near Troy Ontario when the cafe is open give it a try. I always make reservations.

The food was incredible! I got the mushroom penne with beef tips and it was to die for! Hands down the best pasta I ever had! (Sorry grandma) and the homemade tomatoe soup was incredible as well. I love how each dish and cup is unique and different! Also the waiter that served us was incredibly nice and friendly and served up well, even with out decently large party of 15. The pottery store attached was nice as well. Even though pottery isnt my thing I can still appreciate it. They also have like 4 cats in the pottery store which is really cute and nice as long as your arnt allergic.

Visted a about a month ago with family for lunch on a weekday, man and woman were working together. My dish came out, 2 out of 4 of us' didnt like our dishes at all, and man waiting on us was not very accomidating, in other words arguing with us on what we did not like. I ordered something else..came out totally wrong, i said nothing as i did not want to have him more upset. Ruined what was supposed to be a really enjoyable day. Its no skin off the restaurants back to politely correct this, so why have attitude. I work in the service industry, huge turn off that day!

I love Troy Cafe and Donn Zver pottery, especially during the Christmas season when they have all the beautiful decorations both inside and outside. The food, service and ambiance is excellent and the price is very reasonable. I always allow extra time to browse the pottery studio before or after eating and hope that I will have an opportunity to bump into Donn and have a chance for a brief chat with him. He is a most interesting person who has lived his art and craft for his whole life and his warm welcoming smile and demeanour make anyone feel welcome and good.

It was our first time there. The food was amazing. We had the prime rib which was cooked perfectly! You have a choice of a soup or salad, a main and dessert. The maple creme brulee was really good. The maple syrup came from the waitresses family farm which was neat. Expect to stay a couple hours for the perfect dinner. Definitely going back. It was a nice touch that the chef also helped out serving in the dining room. Also, after dinner we wandered the pottery studio where you can pets the cats that roam in there as you look around.

Small cozy venue. We arrived a little before they opened for lunch so we checked out the pottery store. No shocker that the dinner ware were all made by the potter. Food was great. We had wild mushroom bruschetta which was delicious. We also had the squash and pear soup which was equally tasty. My entree was the pear and sausage pasta while my wife had the chicken phyllo. Both were excellent. We finished up with the creme brule and their excellent coffee from Baden and lurched back our car. Great meal and reasonable price.

Lot's of original one of a kind pottery. Everything from dinner sets to salt and pepper shakers. Bring your wallet... it's not cheap but the quality is worth it. Added bonus... there is an amazing restaurant on site (unfortunately due to Covid, the restaurant has closed) Don Zver has converted the space into a teaching studio. If you want to learn to make your own pottery, you'll have an excellent teacher. Congratulations to Don, this year marks 50 years in business!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always wonderful and the service is friendly and welcoming. You do need to make reservations for supper but it's well worth it. The supper menu is limited to three options for a three course meal. I like the limited choices, makes it easier to choose though all three options are always delicious sounding. I also like being able to browse the pottery studio afterwards and have found shine lovely gifts there.

The restaurant closed during Covid, and pottery lessons are given in that space now. But the pottery store has as many beautiful pieces (mugs, bowls of different sizes and shapes, jewellery, plates, ovenware, etc). The prices are reasonable given the high quality of the handmade pottery, all stained in hues from brown and tan to blue and deep red. Well worth visiting. The service is as friendly as ever. Good parking on site, and disabled friendly washrooms.

A great dinner of prime rib and wonderful dessert! Excellent service in a quaint and upscale setting. It is great to see the owner, Donn Zver, who is an internationally known potter and community supporter to take time from his his pottery studio to visit guests in the restaurant. It adds a special meaning to the restaurant and shows that he is invested in the restaurant and its patrons.

My Mom was raised across the street on Hunter Rd on the dairy farm. Stopping by this wonderful pottery and restaurant are always on my list of go to places when I visit from B.C. This time the owner Don Zver gifted my Mom with an amazing piece of pottery. What a touching thing to do. Thank you Don, Bless You.

Service here is really good. Menu doesn't have a lot of vegetarian or vegan options. However, when we asked about options, they told us that many of the menu items could be modified. That's the benefit of cooking everything fresh and made-to-order. Overall, a really good first experience.

Visited Cafe Troy with a friend for lunch just after the New Year. Cafe Troy is a hidden gem within driving distance from Greatee Hamilton, Cambridge and Brant County. The food was exceptional and the staff were so friendly. Great for any special occassion, lunch date or date night.

Visited Cafe Troy on the first day of their Strawberry Menu and while everyone’s lunch was delicious, you MUST save room for the strawberry crepes!! We loved getting to see Donn at work and of course couldn’t resist purchasing a beautiful piece of pottery!

Enjoyed a fabulous dinner on October 12 with six friends. Our waitress Laura even made the evening more pleasant with her mannerism. Food was excellent and we are left feeling satisfied. We will be back and would highly recommend Cafe Troy to everyone.

Local spot. Lots of offerings in many glazes. I’ve purchased their Legion lawn poppies several times as gifts. They used to be $50 but are currently $70. They contribute $25 of each poppy sale to their local legion.

We bought one of their wedding plates as a gift and they loved it! My wife and I bought a couple of mugs that had a ton of character. Oh and be sure to pet the cat.

Laura, our waitress was amazing! Food was perfect. Decor was superb. The owner was in unclean blue jeans, an untucked shirt and not wearing a mask, spoiled the day.
