Greeted at the door, hostess tells me we may not come in until our exact reservation time. Okay fine, you’re a popular place so it’s busy. When we actually went to our table it was quite clear there was no reason we should’ve been made to wait, there was plenty of room. We sat at our table for 10 minutes without being acknowledged, and decided to leave. It wasn’t the 10 minutes so much but instead watching the ladies behind the bar on their cell phones. Perhaps this is why they’re scheduled on Monday nights. There was no obvious management presence, otherwise they would’ve been aware that we hadn’t been greeted and that their staff wasn’t actually making drinks. Such a let down. Place came highly recommended and we were looking forward to it. They have the exclusive arrogance of a popular speakeasy perfected, but they’ve missed almost everything else. Place wasn’t really that nice inside, bathroom was filthy and again the service was non existent. A shameful performance to say the least. The following is an edit in response to managements reply: If your staff was moving tables when I arrived, you could never convince me of that. We sat down (contrary to your comments) at a dirty table without menus or water. We received water from someone who breezed 5 minutes after we sat and we never saw them again. The lady behind the bar was in no way on the bar phone w a guest. It was two ladies behind the bar w their iPhones pointing and laughing at pictures. They weren’t speaking to anyone. I did drink some water, and after 15 minutes of waiting for a server to take my order I left. I had.no intention of saying anything, however your hostess asked me what was wrong, so I explained to her very politely that I simply don’t have time to wait 15 minutes while the staff is socializing and playing on their phones. Your bartender overhead this and became very defensive, I was not interested in having a conversation with someone who was so obviously wrong, however she persisted. So to finish my evening I absolutely confronted her with the facts and she was unable to handle a direct and honest assessment of her performance. It was only after she cursed me that I made the decision to share my experience with you. Lastly, if your staff checks the bathrooms every 30 minutes that’s wonderful, they should also clean them if there is urine all over the floor and toilet seats. The bathrooms were vile, filthy and smells like a sewer. Shame on you for attempting to defend this. There is a time to defend your staff, this isn’t one of them. These young ladies were entitled, rude and clearly ineffective at their jobs. Defending this type of behavior will only allow them to think they can get away with this again in the future, maybe they can with you in charge? Clearly you’ll never see me again, a decision I’m sure we’re both happy with, but how many other people are you losing because of this type of service? Best of luck, I hope things get better and you don’t have to waste your time defending mediocrity.

Came here as part of a trip for my husband's birthday. I was so excited to come here, based off all of the glowing reviews! It was hugely disappointing, so much so in fact we stayed for 1 drink only. We couldn't even find the place first of all as it is an unmarked door - which we get its a speakeasy and thought it was quite funny, although I was bursting for the toilet. We were early for our reservation and were told we can either sit basically in the window sill and they would move us when our table became free or we could sit at the bar. We chose the windowsill booth. It is so dark in the bar it was hard to read the menu but, again, we found this quite funny and quirky. Service was slow. Our waitress came over and I was asking questions about the drinks, which she was unable to answer. If you're working in a bar like this, at least have some product knowledge. Ordered a drink each and when they came they tasted alright but nothing special. Each had the biggest ice cube I've ever seen in and, I don't know what came over me, but I lifted my husband's ice cube out of his drink (a short whiskey looking glass) and no word of a lie the cocktail was the size of a shot. So cheeky considering how expensive they are!! It's just a huge con and you end up feeling cheated. So you end up paying over €30 for effectively 2 shots. I don't understand how the reviews are so good?! Would not recommend and would definitely not come again!

I hate writing bad reviews and I won’t bore everyone with a lengthy account of what happened but we were excited to go to Door 74, we were recommended it by our bar tender at the restaurant we had dinner at. We arrived, rang the bell a couple of times and waited. The lady who answered the door was frosty, something I really don’t like, I think the concept of being rude to customers to make a venue seem cool or exclusive is very dated and it’s something I always hate. Inside we sat down and were looking though the menu when the same lady came over to our table, and insisted “ I heard you don’t like the place?”, we said we didn’t know yet, we thought she was joking because it was so rude and unprofessional it couldn’t have been real. But she said it again. We left. Service is such a big part of going out for dinner and drinks (for me). The place is fine, I will say it doesn’t look a lot like the photos (credit to the photographer) a lot more basic and less opulent looking in real life, not a place locals go, full of groups of tourists which also we were, but, you know what I mean. I really want to have something nice to say but what we experienced wasn’t ok, the rude lady was super beautiful and it was quite busy on a Sunday evening. That’s all I’ve got. Maybe it was an off night, other reviews of the cocktails sound great, I want to be fair, but I should have listened to my gut instinct when we arrived.

Gisteren na lang wachten eindelijk naar de Speakeasy Door 74. Vooraleerst wil ik zeggen. Geweldige bar, helemaal in het plaatje en uitnodigend concept. Ik heb in Europa al veel Speakeasy's bezocht (Little Red Door, Nightjar, Red Frog, Hemingway bar, ...) met steeds een wow factor. Maar, helaas teleurgesteld van mijn bezoek aan de Door 74. Bij binnenkomst kregen we een tafeltje dat nog vuil was en wat we later op de avond ook nog moesten sharen met andere mensen. Toppunt: de personen voor ons hadden niet gereserveerd en kregen wel een aangename plek zonder extra individuen. Verder waren de wc's smerig en was er ook nog geen toiletpapier?! Nu daarvoor kwamen we ook niet naar deze cocktailbar maar toch een afknapper. Dan maar hopen dat de cocktails zelf wel de "wow-catcher" brachten. Helaas ook dat bleef uit. Geen uitleg bij smaken en keuze van cocktails alsook niet toen ze deze brachten. Cocktail zelf was simpel, wel afgewerkt maar geen wow effect. Vb: De typische old fashioned walnoot die je ook zeker in een semi-cocktailbar terugvindt. Een andere cocktail was dan ook niet wat we besteld hadden. De hospitality die men zou verwachten was ondermaats. Tip: get a new housekeeper and make the cocktails a real experience.

A great, traditional Speakeasy! Speakeasy's are my go-to bar, I love them. Anywhere I go on holiday, or to visit I will try to find a Speakeasy. Door 74 hits all the buttons. No signage, just a black door with a bell to get in. This is how a Speakeasy should be designed. Entry is through a dark hallway, with curtains and plants and keeps the bar well hidden. A typical nod to the prohibition era. Service here is awesome! Was never left without a drink, or water. Cocktails are great, very tasty and quite reasonable in price compared to some I had while visiting. The only gripe I have, is the shared table arrangement - don't get me wrong, I know the place is small and they need to get people in but as an introvert and someone who wanted a nice date night with my wife - I wasn't a fan. We dealt with it, and the two ladies at our table kept to themselves and it was alright! 100% will return again when back in Amsterdam. Keep up the great work!

We were very excited to try this place out. We made a reservation because this place gets very busy. But it was so underwhelming when we got there. The drinks were pricey which is typical for cocktail bars but the drinks were so watered down. We were a group of 5 and only 2 of the 5 drinks we ordered were pretty good. The rest of them were so bad. My husband ordered one of their cocktails and it tasted like it was whiskey mixed with water. He said he would of rather they have just served him a glass of whiskey. Anyways the atmosphere of the space was dark and cozy. Restrooms were extremely tight. Waiters were very rude and didn’t really care about you. Honestly, if your in Amsterdam for a limited time, I feel it’s worth it to skip this place and go elsewhere.

Great place, I wouldnt call it a speakeasy is all... Service was fantastic. They use the word speakeasy to describe this place, but if that is what they are trying for I would say it left a bit to be desired. It was very loud for a place that tried to be a 'speakeasy' I could not hear the people I was with, had a hard time hearing the bar tender. It's a bit more casual than a traditional speak easy. The menu was fantastically curated. The bar tenders were wonderful, the execution of the drinks was decent. But they were bartenders more than mixologists, I think they lacked a bit of their own personality and expression in the drinks which you tend to see with someone who is a bit more passionate about it.

One of the cocktail bars you need to try in Amsterdam, it’s a bit hidden so be on the lookout. The hostess was so kind and seated us in even if we didn’t have a reservation, thank you Talita! Their menu is quite large and contains bits and pieces for everything you could wish and is really well structured. The staff is also really nice and ready to give you a recommandation if needed, also you can ask for their list of recommendations in Amsterdam, i found some cool spots there. Thank you for the experience Pro tip: try to make a reservation and ask to be seated at the bar, so you get to have the whole experience.

Door 74 was on my wife's must-visit list, and I'm thrilled we went. From the moment we arrived, the host was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were seated in a lovely booth, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Our waiter was exceptionally nice and provided us with fantastic cocktail recommendations. What made our experience even more memorable was the waiter's advice on places to visit in Italy, which we greatly appreciated. Door 74 is a lovely venue with a great staff and an amazing cocktail selection. We would definitely recommend it to others.

Reading through all the comments i see that i am not the only one who thinks that door staff is rude and very cold. Maybe thinking that it will bring some character to this place but in fact it only brings bad experience. You reply to everybody that you pride yourself with an exceptional service but nothing really changes, does it ? Place for hipster kids I would say. Nothing interesting. Drinks- can't taste any alcohol. Not even gonna go into the fact of place being half empty and they still squeeze people at the same tables. Won't be coming back.

Awesome cocktails and a cool, but simple entrance. Obviously it's pricey, but all speakeasy/cocktail bars are charging premium prices for premium cocktails. The vibe is really cool inside with really accommodating bartenders. I think our only complaint was that the bar stools are bolted into the floor and are a little too close to the bar. I couldn't directly face the bar comfortably. Would definitely recommend going here if visiting Amsterdam.

We tried lots of cocktails here. I would rate average taste&quality as above average, but nothing special/outstanding. They are pricey and portions are small/ too much ice. Lots of places on this street suffer from the issue. It doesn’t matter if you book in advance - you still may end up on the shared table or at the bar. Almost no standalone tables where you can enjoy a private conversation. But if your goal is to meet new people the place is good.

Typical of Cocktail Bars that the staff think they are the coolest kids in the world. Bartender focused, door and floor staff killed the experience. EDIT: Ownership followed up quickly, response was as expected and that’s all that can be asked. Tough to pull stars off for what one part of the unit misses or drops the ball but ownership that cares, that wants to fix the holes is why you should go. We’ll give it another go, drinks were on point.

Ok bar. Decent mixologist not one of the best I had. Service was rude. Hier wordt erg geforceerd leuk gedaan. Ik krijg hier jeuk van.... Ook vind ik het niet normaal dat je gelijk wordt aangesproken als je ook maar even op je telefoon kijkt om te weten hoe laat het is. Bellen in deze bar is niet toegestaan, maar snel kijken op je telefoon toch wel? Te dure cocktails (wel lekkere) en een belachelijk deurbeleid. Ze willen exclusief zijn, maar slaan de plank compleet mis.

Wat een geweldige bar. De cocktails zijn naar mijn mening redelijk prijzig, rond de €13, maar de service maakt dit dik goed. Super personeel dat heel goed met je mee denkt en met plezier cocktails buiten de kaart om te maken. Het is even zoeken naar de bar zelf en dit maakt de uit eindelijke ontdekking alleen maar leuker. 5 sterren van mij. Ik kom hier zeker vaker!

Lex went on a work trip to UK & Europe: drinks at @door_74 in Amsterdam, which is a Speakeasy Bar with absolutely fantastic cocktails! Lex got one drink from their menu, and one customised drink. He just told them that he wanted a drink with tea in it, and they made a super delicious version with teapot bitters and a dry gin .

Overrated. Staff threw a menu on our table when we arrived then didn’t return until 20 minutes later to take the order without any suggestions or explanation of the menu. Drinks were basic and unbalanced. Plain interior and really a forgettable experience.

The details didn't work. Everything was just a little off for a speakeasy. The bar was too high, it was too bright, yet music too quiet. The place is pretty cute though. Every drink (had 4 between the two of us) was far far too sweet. If you're expecting craft cocktail speakeasy, skip this one. Service was lovely and nice.

Friendly and attentive staff, inventive and very well crafted original cocktail recipes that are also presented in a classy way. Speakeasy style entrance is a nice touch, the people attending the door also always make sure the place isn't overcrowded so that the touch of elegance isn't lost. Highly recommended!

Verborgen bar, even aanbellen om binnen te komen. Binnen ontsnap je direct aan de drukte van de stad. Je vindt er door schotten omsloten tafels waar je met veel privacy je cocktail kunt drinken. Veel van het personeel spreekt geen Nederlands, maar is wel kundig; de cocktails zijn van goede kwaliteit.

It was fun! The cocktails were delicious and the atmosphere was great. The only thing that was unfortunate was that the toilet couldn't be locked which made using it a little scary. But everything else was great!

So this should be a speakeasy but not that underground anymore? Somehow a bit to touristic and people are really loud there which made my whole experience a bit cheesy… They do have various cocktails and are fine quality. But you’d find better speakeasy type of bar in the city.

Recommend making a reservation. We showed up around 11pm without one and got lucky after another table left. Creative cocktails and cozy interior make for a great hideout with a small group or on a date. A nice escape from the party bars in nearby Rembrandt square.

Deze speakeasy bar op de Reguliersdwarsstraat moet iedereen een keer in z'n leven bezocht hebben. Heerlijk voor een date, vooral als je een plekje aan de bar hebt veroverd. Vergeet niet te reserveren -- en om op de goede deur te kloppen.

Super leuke cocktail workshop gehad. Belangrijk is dat je lekker meedoet en er zelf ook een feestje van maakt. Dit werkt heel goed op het personeel waardoor de ervaring alleen maar beter word.

Het is niet de makkelijkste plek om te vinden, maar de moeite zeker waard Bij binnenkomst heel vriendelijk ontvangen en de cocktails zijn echt heerlijk! Thanks door 74, wij komen zeker terug!!
