I visited Dundas Ontario for the Art Tour and the museum hosted some with the local artist under the roof . The museums history is written about early settlers to the area and from their perspective and not from the prospective off the First Nations tribes . This l find very concerning then mentioned it to the staff as the history dated back to the 1700 and prior confederation in 1867 Canada the nation was formed and this land was stolen from the various First Nations tribes some of those are extinct as a result of being murdered and the cultural genocide continues 151 years later. There's no representation from the First Nations people , there's no representation of their stories , their history and I as we know treaty agreements doesn't mean that the land was sold I stated on the information posted and the museum . Until the cultural genocide stop then until the stories are being told by the First Nations we will never know the truth and their extinction continues daily . Confederation laws are still being used against First Nations communities yet this is not their land it belongs to the First Nations therefore only their rights and their laws apply . Prime minister Justin Trudeau said I'm sorry for the residential schools but his actions prove but he isn't sorry in the still enforcing The Crown versus the Indigenous just as those who enforced residential schools , Confederation , the falsified purchase agreement and documentation stating ownership and property when it is only the First Nations land. #Canadian History, #indigenous, #First Nations.

My husband and I had our wedding rehearsal dinner here in December 2021. We had a wonderful experience. It accommodated our 30-person party perfectly. Intimate enough that we could hang out with each one of our guests but safe enough that we could physically distance throughout the room. Plus, guests were able to tour the museum throughout the evening! It was also accessible for guests with mobility issues. The sound system allowed for video/photo slideshows and a mic set-up. (We did, however, require a Lightning Digital AV Adapter but thankfully one of our guests had one on hand but something to note to check with them on what A/V elements are available to you -- also that you'll have to take your garbage with you which we didn't confirm beforehand but thankfully some of our guests were able to take it with them.) We had food delivered from a local catering company and then set up the food as a buffet style in the dining room which worked out really well. Highly recommend the Dundas Museum and Archives!

My 1st time at the Dundas museum. Really enjoyed it. This special "Winter Blooms" show is over now. Museum artifacts with unusual creative fresh flower arrangements! - -- great for a gray January day. We had the extra bonus deluxe feature of Austin, a museum staff historian coming by. And answering questions about the particular topic of the Indigenous interactions with the 1st settlers. Austin was very generous with his time, knowledge and enthusiasm.! Thank you Austin. Very much! I hope you'll be around when I come back to see the dolls. The next show coming up looks really interesting "Valley of the Dolls." FEB. 4TH --MAY 6TH. Antique Toys and Dolls from Dundas history. Donations welcomed but these exhibits are for free.

Hosted a baby shower for 30 guests in the Pirie House space. It is a lovely space, great size for 30 - 50 people! The dining room area is a great spot for the food and the kitchen is helpful! Only things to be aware of ahead of time is that there is only street parking (although we didn't have too much of an issue with guests finding a spot), and that you must take your own garbage back with you as they are zoned as residential and have limited garbage bags allowed at the curb each week. I didn't realize this until I was getting ready to leave so it was tough to fit 4 large full garbage bags in my already packed car. Staff was very friendly and very helpful! I would rent this space again!

I took my boys 20 and 13 and I was worried that they may find it boring! However to my surprise they were reading and talking together. While I of course was enjoying reading and looking at all the incredible artifacts by myself. I really enjoyed the afternoon especially witnessing my boys discussing and encouraging one another to come read this or take a look at this. Talk about a memorable afternoon. Highly recommend this Museum to anyone who enjoys History and appreciates Dundas and it interesting past!

What a great little museum with free admission. Don't forget to donate once you're there! The local artifacts are enchanting, and the periodic exhibitions are well curated and always beautiful and fascinating. The staff members are knowledgeable and welcoming. The current exhibition of art inspired by Dundas is simply gorgeous. I will definitely bring friends to see it. I visit this museum often, and I'm so grateful we have this treasure in Dundas.

Dundas Community museum is a nice charming place to get familiar with the history of Dundas town, its community and its role in regional development. The Museum includes a few rooms of the exhibition related to Dundas history and an art gallery which both take about an hour to look through. There is no cafe in the museum, but there is the main downtown street with cafes and restaurants five minutes away from there.

Again another museum which is integrated into the heart of the community. Kevin and his team do a wonderful job of not only creating and rotating new exhibits. There is always a new event around the corner. Not to mention that Dundas itself is nestled in the escarpment - I recommend a leisurely bike ride or car drive. We visit the museum regularly as our 6 year old granddaughter loves to see the displays and stop to play at the dollhouse. Thank you very much for opening the Doctor's House for her today and giving such an informative your. She said it was awesome!

When in Dundas town, it’s a must see attraction. Best of all, it’s a free attraction. Donations are welcomed but not pressed upon. The museums gives a detailed history of Dundas town. Very well maintained and managed. There is no parking on site but you can park on the streets.

I went to research my building and the archivist pulled the documents for me. I’ve never been to the museum but I will have to go and check out the exhibits as it looked very interesting.

My friend and I visited the museum and thoroughly enjoyed the eclectic local collection. Maps, artifacts, photos and pieces of equipment made be Bertrams, all of it guaranteed to fascinate adults and children alike. The staff is courteous, helpful and knowledgeable.

Went for a school trip. It was pretty cool to see all the different kinds of dolls and read their stories. Other cool stuff in the museum too. You just have to go to see !!

I had a good time visiting this museum. It displays the history of Dundas area. Although it is small museum but it's fun to spend the time here. They have different exhibition from time to time. The staff in front desk also very friendly.

Accepted to be guest speaker here. Wonderful reception and assistance. They advertized the event and had overflow attendance. DVHS was well repared for the overfow and used external monitor and sound system to accomodate the extra guest.

Very cute. Exhibits were interesting and informative, staff was helpful. If you've in Dundas and curious about the history, it's worth the time.

Wonderful exhibits - there's a ton of information packed into their space. We could have spent hours there! Staff were extremely welcoming and the free admission is a great way to make history more accessible to the community.

I was there for a summer course run by the Dundas Valley School of Art, so I didn't have much time to look at the exhibits. However, it's a lovely space and the staff are helpful. Definitely going back to take a closer look!

A very lovely museum. It tells you the story and the past of this beautiful and authentic Canadian town vividly. The exhibits telling the story of a Chinese restaurant which was opened many decades ago is my favorite.

I stumbled upon this museum and could not be happier about it. The staff are knowledgeable and personable and PASSIONATE. It was a brief visit but definitely a pleasure. I look forward to the next time I can stop by.

The glass negatives photo display is terrific. It's on until mid-January, 2023. Also an interesting little museum displaying the industrial history of Dundas.

The displays are always so great and we've been loving the activities during the pandemic that you can do in town or at home. Staff is wonderful.

I have been at 2 private events one for work and one personal. Staff is great and the space is great for a small group (20-40).
