I was 45 minutes early. After 45 minutes the bus was 15 minutes late. There is no signs for what busses will stop where so when the bus arrived it stopped behind the station not in front and therefore I missed my bus. Which in my opinion is unfortunate but acceptable. I went to Eldo Coach offices for help as I was instructed to do so by the call centre I phoned. I was met with a lady that was calling someone on her personal phone and did not want to help me even tho I was frantically and desperately asking her to call the bus back or even tell me where the next stop is so I can try and catch it there. She muted the call and shouted "The bus is gone" as if I did not already know that. She then returned back to her call and laughed about what I assume my situation was about. Besides the awful service inside, the outside smells of urine and there is some homeless people walking around. I would not say that it's a very safe place to be.

How can a bus station not have bathroom facilities for their customers?!! Me and my sister were at the bus station for 8 hours and we had no bathroom facilities for that time! For 8 hours! I tried to go to the bathroom, but then I was told to pay and there were other ladies as well and they didn't pay to use the bathroom but I must. And to put the cherry on the cake is that it is a male in the female bathrooms demanding money only from certain people. And when I pointed out that why must I pay and others don't, the man wanted to come with his threats and stories. This bus station doesn't care about the customer and it is very clear.

Last time I took a bus here was 6 years ago. The station is a time capsule of disaster. Toilets are unspeakably disgusting and dilapidated. Dusty windows like they haven't been touched in years.Absolutely no dignity is given to passengers. No simple clean kiosk. Passengers sitting on bags no decent benches for people to sit and wait with dignity for their bus. Hallways smelling of urine. We are not doing anyone a favour by being there we are paying customers. If a bus station was a squatter camp it would be Durban bus station. I'm fairly sure everyone working there could do better. If you have another travel option don't come here.

Durban bus Station has a lot of traffic through here and I think making an effort to keep it constantly clean and it being a Hub deserves an upgrade or refurbish. It's smelly Looks doggy Feels shaddy But your actually safe, the meter taxi guys are like the guardians of the passengers coming off buses. The toilets - rather hold yourself until you arrive where you are going. It's always messy ALWAYS One place you want to arrive and leave as soon as you land. Intercape Eldo Intercity Kalamazoo Have offices here they close when the last bus leaves during covid. The taxi /Uber drivers are helpful and fast.

  • Alison Diamond

The place is not as neat as it could be. Bolt and Uber drop offs are allowed within the property however pick ups they not allowed in to pick you up which makes the security guards effectively useless as you have to leave the premises to get your taxi. This is a shame. The other thing is that the bathrooms are not in good order to use. Guess too many people flow through there for them to keep it neat and tidy. Aside from that just take the usual precaution when in a public place.

Should have a departure and arrivals board for ease of reference. The fact that you have to pay for parking even if you just came for a drop off is a huge downside. There is a bad stench around the area and no shops for travellers is a huge inconvenience. Even a taxi rank in YMCA has much better facilities for long distance travel compared to the bus station.

Not as it used to be InterCape has lost its Spark.... service has dropped rock bottom, these days if you get a blue refuse little bag on the bus its a bonus, you hardly see those little bag's, empty packets all kinds of wrappers and empty bottles flying around imagine what the floor of the bus look like after so many hours of travelling overnight on the bus.

  • hayden gaines

I believe that overland bus travel in SA is now classed under 'adventure tourism' Not much security visible, so pretty scary... No signs for directions where to go, some bus operators don't even have offices in the building... Feels like typical government efficiency and professionalIsm... Do not book and travel by bus unless absolutely necessary...

  • GOOD NEWS OF CHRIST

Good experience from the station, it's safe and secured by security and policeman. I love the fact that you can easily access the office of your Bus and make inquiries where applicable. It's advisable that you arrive 30 minutes before your bus to avoid panicking and might forget your belongings. Durban Station is good hasn't changed much.

  • Maitseo Tlhareseng

The station has one bathroom with few toilets in and the lady who cleans there does a great job but wow she can bully clients using those bathrooms. The station itself i don't even want to begin. There was just no order and the staff was not friendly at all. It's as if you are bothering them when you have to ask them for assistance.

  • Ada

Been here a number of time. Depending on when you are there it can get really busy. Not the cleanest place to be. It's advisable to arrange your own transportation to and fro from the station as the taxi drivers there can sometimes overcharge. On the whole it serves it purpose as a place to take your bus for travel or for arrival.

  • kelebogile Lehoko

I am absolutely disgusted by by the taxi drivers who control the bus station at Durban bus station. They stop people from the boarding busses and out of their will place them into taxis.. What are the bus management doing about it.. They are putting people's lives in danger by forcing them to take taxis instead of busses

  • Carya Hlaks

This station has gone to the dumps, everywhere you turn it smells you near tavern or hostel their is a strong smell of urine everywhere. Whether you are in the or in the train station entrance on Umgeni road. There is poor signage and some of the securities don't know if some of the carriers are at the station or not

  • Spherh Ceboh

Unfortunately, i had missed my bus due to unforseen circumstances. When i went to the lady at the Intercape counter to find out if the bus may have delayed or if I had missed the bus so i can find another alternative. i was met with a rude lady at the counter who responded rudely with unnecessary side comments.

  • leticialevi tulomba

The bus companies are shut down the ones working wooooooh they are aggressive intercape receptionists there's this guy with a weird haircut lies just for you to buy the most expensive ticket but there are cheaper ones other then that the station is awesome and you feel safe

  • Marlin Malyon

If you are travelling by bus make sure you check in very very early and understand what is required of you prior to boarding the bus . There is a large police presence which is very good and the police station is on 1st floor near the tuck shop . Toilets cost R2 to enter .

  • Dikeledi Mnguni

The bus number 704 is unhygienic it's smells urine terribly so me with health reasons I can't even breathe my point is how are we going to arrive in Pretoria with this smelly bus.Tje drivers can't do anything we tried to complain to them.Hopefelly my full refund is needed.

  • Dineo Ntsalla

I only travel with intercape and their service is great but the bus station itself is pretty run down and not that clean. Just be aware of the taxi owners that don't let ubers/bolts come through the gates to the parking. You have to walk further to them outside the gates.

  • David Delport

Had very poor service with Eldo Coaches. Bus supposed to have departed at 10 am did not arrive by 1am. Resulting in me having to cancel my trip. Place is very dirty and smells of urine. Id advise any bus commuter to insist on busses departing from Tropicana Hotel.

  • Ntsikelelo Ntisana

The security is improved...but my challenge why have to pay for the use of toilet. It's really unfair... people have traveled a long distance...hope he will relax when the bus arrive at Dbn station...he get that have to pay and they are not that clean too...

  • prudence molefe

This place is dirty with no covid restrictions, eldos coaches is the worst , they dont keep the departure time or the embarkation time, the coach marshal was screaming at everyone , the is no covid rules. The transport department must visit this place

  • Melusi Dlamini

Horrible, poprly maintained, dirty and just not deserving to be a park station, even not deserving of my 1 star rating, if you compare it Johannesburg Park and Cape Town Park, actually Cape Town is light years ahead in terms of world-class standards.

  • Simphiwe Derick Cele

It's a very nice place, not two days go by without passing by on my way to the Workshop and it's next to the Kingsmead Cricket & Rugby Stadium. Also, cross two traffic lights and you'll get to the ICC. Durban Bus Station is beautiful. …

  • Mzwandile Sobuza

Secure location for those in transit, visibility of the security just incase there are some goons around who try to rob people. One issue though is the rooms of convenience/toilets, I think they should do a make over to give it a fresh look..

  • Harald Solberg

When i used it there were very few people around so my situation may be better than during peak periods. That day there was adequate parking and benches to sit on. I suspect that during busy periods seating and parking may become problematic

  • Fernicia Karools

Service excellent from the crew working there. Toilet facilities at Intercape station was locked for staff used only, passengers need to us the facilities outside which is not in a good state, dark and dangerous. Wifi not working.

  • Carol Walljee

If you haven't visited this place in a decade or more, you may find it scary and feel unsafe. If your bus leaves on time, which Greyhound and Eldo Coaches seldom do, your sojourn in that messy environment won't be long.

  • Nqobile Mtshali

Not safe. You have to constantly be cautious of the thieves that hang out at the station. Your luggage or stuff could easily be stolen if you are not careful. The place is dirty with an unpleasant smell. Not cool

  • Paul Bowden

The parking area needs attention, general cleaning and repair of potholes. I had parked for less than 1/2 hour and my vehicle was broken into and items stolen. This was in full view of 2 Security Personnel …

  • Sharon Mawonde

I managed to book a bus stress free though l wish there can be an improvement at the station. The long corridors upstairs can be scary, there's need for police visibility by the stairs and in the corridors

  • Chuma Chinzila

The station needs an upgrade, facilities and general outlook. It's in Durban, the tourist capital but it doesn't look the part! Local and international tourist drop off and take off from there.

  • Simba Nhari

No change, no face lift, same old bus station, now has potholes. So be careful when parking, there are a lot of people who just loiter around. Security is low. It's tricky after hours

  • Dineo

The place is dirty and smelling, it has. Been neglected and you can't possibly wait for your travelling time in peace without being bothered by people asking for money

  • Lyle Steele

Relatively easy collection and drop off point for bus passengers. Have free parking available too at the moment (March 2023), it used to be an expensive paid option.

  • Tapiwa Mwale

It was nice. I’d like to find silo tape and bag wrappers next time. Even people to help with carrying bags would be a plus for me. We also need more waiting chairs.

  • Eleanor Olckers

Not too bad. No waiting area. Not sure how clean the bathrooms are. Taxi services are available. No shops, only a food trailer which is still closed early morning.

  • Thulani Dlamini

The place is not well looked after for public place where buses stop and pick up passanger. Dirty, smells and there are no decent toilets. Place is just run down.

  • DIDI LARN

It was such an intimidating place and I definitely didn't feel safe but the staff inside the buildings for my specific bus were all very friendly and helpful.

  • Patson Nenzhelele

The place needs cleaning and more lighting. I was there in 2018 and came back in 2023 and not much has been done to station. Its basically decaying …

  • DM Shaba

Would recommend you arrange to be dropped by the bus terminals. The parking stairs heading from bus terminals to umgeni road exit looks for shady.

  • Sandile Hloniphani

The place needs thorough revamp. Ablution facilities are a big problem there. There's no control even with the movements outside the bus offices

  • Jacques Hoffman

Very unsafe hey. Gotta be sure to pick up your guests or clients when they arrive. Not the type of night possey you want to get caught at alone

  • Nqobile Gebe

The place seems good but the way it looks makes you not guarantee your safety, especially if you are to take night buses, it's not that clean

  • Nonhle Mhlongo

I was welcomed so well, showed where to check in. I checked in and went to the bus, the attendants were so freindly. And the bus left on time

  • Tania Matsapola

The station is very small,no place for passengers to start a proper queue to their destination,no signage to show which bus is on which line.

  • Vishan Ragnanan

visited this place to fetch a customer traveling from free state according to his experience it was not to standard his bus broke down twice

  • Simo “Yhoyhoz” Mjiwu

  • Mark Francis

The parking has terrible potholes. The entire area is filthy. There is very little to no cleaning done. This goes for trash clean up as well

  • khosi mthembu

It's not clean. The bathrooms are horrible and you have to pay R2. Men pee wherever they like. And the random homeless are always around.

  • Tim Van

This area has really become run down, and it's filthy. Someone really needs to do something and sort this area out. It looks rather seedy

  • nelly mlay

It was not well organized according to how people should wait for the bus. the information was not properly reaching the people at back.

  • Thubelihle Nxumalo

The place needs to be refurbished and maintained. Toilets are filthy, escalators do not work the waiting area needs to be updated.

  • Lydiaah

The toilets are in a bad state and extremely dirty, there's a piss stench everywhere, and safety of passengers... non-existence!

  • Mondli Mzulwini

Durban is one of the beautiful places and n Durban the Bus station doesn't reflect the city itself.. it can use renovation

  • MICHAEL PLACCA

There can be improvements in the general neatness of the place. The toilets were terrible. It needs a complete overhaul.

  • Leon Venter

Dirty. Saw many rats and cats in a short period of time. Poor if any security. Ugly unorganized entrance. Ect. Ect.

  • Slizah Gatsheni

  • Nondumiso Buthelezi

  • mo loi

Service was number 1. They make sure that you don't get lost and they are patient with passengers, God bless them.

  • Bianca Kok

Parking is very busy!! Bus patrons weigh your luggage and help load it onto bus! There are metered taxis 24hours!!

  • Anita Pandaram

Parking was free, which was a surprise. However, the parking lot was in a state of disrepair with huge potholes.

  • Limanye Mgobo

Could be cleaner and also escalators don't work anymore, and it seems it's been a while they're not operating

  • Sibu Nkambule

Place needs, restructuring or renovation, as compared to park Station in JHB or the Bus station in Cape Town

  • Zama Mpanza

The place has security that guards the parking area, but there's very few spaces...most people park outside

  • Sizwe Xaba

It bad you need to improve the standard of the building, only security guards are serious about their work

I wish they had public toilets that was my only disappointment.... They said they were closed due to covid

  • Roy Sajiwan
