Even as an avid Holocaust researcher, this centre is informative and interesting, 2.5 hours was not enough time for me to get through it comprehensively... I need to take ALL the information in. I managed about half way through the museum, my daughter was a bit faster than me... including a quick bite at the coffee shop which is a little on the expensive side, but at the same time there is no entrance fee. I will be back soon to complete the half I was unable to see. In conclusion, I had a lovely experience with warm people about. It also looks like the reconstruction is going to be a success all round. Thank you for providing this informative center!

I think it should be visited once in a life time to learn of the horrendous history of inhumanity. Learn about the history of genocides that happened in different areas of the world and still happening in the world. It shows that a government that really cares about its subjects is really needed and needed desperately so and soon. Unbelievable what intolerant humans can do their fellow humans and how some humans have been blinded to believe that they are superior and better than others.

Going back as soon as I can because I didn't manage to get round the whole place first time. It's a wonderful place telling the saddest stories. Well presented, intelligent commentary, and an atmosphere of respect and tribute to those lost in one of societies most shameful stories. The centre also mentions other cases of genocide in 20th century. There is also an Anne Frank exhibition suitable for children.

Great informative museum detailing several genocides. I was told that they are currently creating an exhibition on genocide in the former German colony of Namibia. To enter the museum, there is a high fence surrounding two buildings. Go to south entrance fence. Guard will take your name and photo. Enter site. Go to second building (museum) on east side after passing through another fenced entrance.

The team at the museum are so welcoming that you forget the heaviness of the exhibition. I was led to the museum during my spiritual walk with God. The coffee shop and garden of remembrance are a most welcome reprieve from the tour. I had the most delicious Latke and cuppacino. A life-changing experience! Thank you to the team!

The Durban holocaust and genocide museum is a must visit for anyone who is interested in humanity, society, politics and psychology. That means everyone who can think! This world class museum must be visited to learn and be reminded of man’s potential to do evil to others and the circumstances that cultivate it.

Very informative, not only about the Holocaust but also about other genocides. Also respectful in how they deliver the information and photographs of the victims and survivors. Definitely a place one should visit.

It's exceptionally insightful and educational. The museum doesn't just focus on the holocaust but also on other areas/nations affected by genocide. It was also very interesting to note the role South Africa played both positive and negative.

An Extremely emotional experience. Confronted with evidence of man's inhumanity & the need to accept that we are capable of such atrocities. Also how people can feel so hopeless & submissive to the abusers.

Exhibits clear and vivid (though a little too vivid for the 13-year old we had with us). There is a good section on Ann Frank that kids can relate to. Also a small garden and nice kosher cafe.

  • Julian Stanley

It was wonderful but hard hitting to go to this museum, excellent facilities but not very well patronised... It was wonderful to learn about South Africa's connection to the holocaust
