EVHS has honestly been an out of this world experience. As a freshman, I was very intimidated to go to a new school with a new environment and a new approach to education. But the warm welcome I received along with my class made me feel like I'd been a student there since it was first constructed. My teachers were super helpful, supported me, and gave me advice on how to go through high school. And let me tell you this, it’s been super helpful in the decisions I’ve had to make. I loved trying out sports for the first time and meeting so many new people. The best part was making new friends and getting more involved with the school. I truly felt like I was becoming a more positive individual. As a current Sophomore, I now face the challenge of AP’s. But joining Leadership has made it so much easier. I don’t consider myself a super social guy but honestly, joining Leadership has changed my outlook on that and life so much already. I now want to get more involved with the school, make more friends, and give back to the school just like it has given so much to me already. Being bullied at a little age made me so constricted in my social life, but EV’s positive environment and fun activities that Leadership has had to offer has turned my frown upside down. I can say without a doubt that I am a different person than I was three years ago. Change is never-ending and I feel with the positive community of the upper-classmen and staff, my change will be a positive one. Thank you EV for giving me so much and I can't wait to continue returning the favor! “To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.” - Winston Churchill

EVHS is full of pride and loving teenagers who care a whole lot about their community. The leadership class themselves try to improve participation and school involvement in all of our peers and wil go to great lengths to achieve those goals. This school as any other school is not perfect. I am a current student attending Evergreen Valley high school and I've got to say we have done really great so far. Just recently our school raise $4137 for Bill Wilson shelter for teens. We did this with in a week and received great recognition from the organization and the leader of the campaign because I said I would. As a whole we've achieved one of the highest SAT scores and hold many accomplished student athletes in our athletic department. Yes some teachers may be very hard or not very great what they're doing but that is only the minority of our staff. This campus is very fun and full of wonderful students eager to learn and be successful in life. Within three years our PTSA raised $16,000 on their own just to provide for school. our school made a huge community improvement just by the donations we receive. The students continue to try their best and always always try to make our school better place. I'm not saying were perfect but we try very hard to improve each and every year every second of the day every day of the school year just to make our school and our community a better place for well-rounded young adults.

EVHS is an outstanding school. To begin with, EVHS has amazing teachers who facilitate the process of educating the bright young leaders of tomorrow. They all follow a vigorous curriculum. Albeit the lesson plans might be challenging, it will better prepare us for the future. And if any students do struggle, there are always opportunities provided by teachers and students, who tutor those in need of academic assistance. From preliminary Foreign Language and Math to AP World History and Literature, EVHS has a wide range of courses. With so much to choose from, all students are bound to find their academic passion. However, academic success is not the only aspect of a well-rounded school. Evergreen Valley High School also has a plethora of extracurricular activities. We have over eighty active clubs. In addition, there are many opportunities to stay active and fit by trying out for the numerous sports teams and clubs. None of the clubs and extracurricular activities would exist without the help of Leadership. All of the events, dances, rallies, spirit days, and activities were all meticulously planned out by dedicated Leadership students. EVHS is a better place because of the amazing leaders of our school. To conclude, because of the curriculum, extracurricular activities, and Leadership organization, EVHS is an amazing school.

EVHS is a great campus, and like all great campuses it has its pros and its cons. Granted we only have two counselors to help a population of over 2700 students, and have some teachers that dont have the best relationships with their students, but this is to be expected with such a high population. Yes the library is not opened as much as we would like it to be, and yea the bathrooms may be a tad dirty, but when compared with all other aspects of the school, all these cons are flushed away. From the moment i walked into this school freshmen year, I felt welcomed and embraced in the EVHS culture. The spirit here is skyrocketing with each coming year and despite the huge number of people at this school i actually feel connected with my peers. With events like Homecoming and Battle you really get to develop a close bond with your classmates. Also with our vast amount of AP's and courses, there is something for every person to partake in and further progress their academic career. We offer more than 100 clubs and after school activities so there is something for every type of student. EVHS is one of the top 100 public high schools in our nation and it is shown through our academics, spirit, vast clubs, and activities. Just take a moment and breath in that minty fresh EV air. ;) -Jesse Kullar 2016 Treasurer

What comes to mind when I hear the words “high school”? Before EV I would have said tests, intolerable teachers, and stress. But going into my last year here I can honestly say that none of this affects me. While there will always be tests and stress, EV acts as an outlet. There are so many activities to do and people to meet. It’s true that the standards are set high, due to the fact that the staff genuinely believes in all of our abilities to pass our classes and graduate high school. Through all my years here, I have seen people come and go, but one thing never leaves, our school spirit. Cougar Pride as we call it stays with you after you leave; it becomes a permanent part of you. I know this school has the ability to do great things, because I have seen it. I have seen us fund raise, I have seen us act in plays, I have seen us dance and laugh, I got to experience high school not just in the form of books and learning, but through the happiness it has brought me and many others. So, what do I think when I hear the words “high school”? I think of all of the smiles I see walking through our beautiful campus, I think of the activities I've participated in, but most of all I think of the pride I hold now and will continue to hold as my last year here comes to an end. Love you Cougars!!

EVHS is a wonderful school to be at. As of right now, 2014, I am a junior and I have spent 3 years at this school and have lived my entire life in this community. The day I first entered high school was so much different. I remember dropping off my sister on her first day of high school - she looked so small and scared. I was scared that I would not fit in at first, but after the 1st week, all my fears dissipated. The students and upperclassmen especially, were so welcoming and open to weirdness and whatever opinions you had to express. These students were really the ones that set the example for all the incoming students. We know that when it is our time, we need to give back to those incoming students as well. Activities at EVHS can be rowdy and crazy but that's what is so amazing. Students of this school have the support from the staff to be able to pull it off. The recent administration has been wonderful - attending school/student events, conversing with students, participating in spirit weeks, etc. Although some students may complain of the teachers, I believe that at every school there are bad and good teachers. If you get a "bad" teacher, you can go find a teacher that you connect with and build a relationship with them. There are plenty of great people at EVHS.

  • Michael Lichauco

I'll be honest with you, I didn't expect a more perfect high school. Yeah the teachers can be somewhat uptight and food can be alright at times, but this school is more than I expected. From a spirited student body with a leadership family giving their all, to a kind staff of teachers(mostly all of them) that go above and beyond in teaching and create bonds with their students, and most importantly, an exuberant vibe that can't be reproduced in any other school is what makes this school absolutely unbelievable. Yeah, sure Evergreen isn't as depicted as perfectly as in TV shows and there are unpleasing students and staff, but we can't label a whole community because of a few bad apples. But we sure are damn-well one of the most spirited and generous high school in the state and maybe in the world. I've been in this high school for 3 years as I start my senior year. But we've made progress in cleaning up or campus, hyping up our spirit/event weeks, and putting so much time in raising money and volunteering for our community with our drives and clubs. Can't ask for a more perfect high school.

Most people say they hate high school and that it's the worst 4 years of their lives, and while that may be true for some, I feel like EV goes out of its way to ensure that all of its students have the best possible time they can. If you ask other students from other schools what they think of EV students, they will say things like "stuck up" but that is completely untrue. The students at EV have got to be the most genuinely kind people. In fact, the students here at EV raised over $4000 dollars in 5 days to give to a shelter for homeless teens in their community! We students don't just come to school to learn, we come to school to make a difference. Each day when we sit in our classes, we improve ourselves, but when we partake in activities like Homecoming or Battle, we support every single person out there, whether they be playing football or dancing, everyone receives the same amount of support and love. And that's what I love best about Evergreen;that it's a tight-knit community where all students support one another and everyone does their best to make a difference.

This school year at Evergreen Valley has been really amazing, and it's only just begun. We've had great new ideas and programs that are creating a community in the school, such as a school-wide Because I Said I Would pledge to help the homeless teens at the Bill Wilson Center throughout this year (we raised more than $4,000!) and a Link Crew program to help freshmen integrate into the high school lifestyle efficiently and as easily as possible. The school is doing amazing things, especially the students. Students here not only excel at studies but they also participate in the numerous sports, clubs, and other activities that we have here at EV. Everyone is so hard-working, supportive, and friendly, and you can always find people that share your interests. We just had a spirit day where many students dressed up in their 1920s dresses and suits, even though it was raining; that's dedication. The students at EV are definitely going places and EVHS just keeps getting better and better from my experience.

EVERGREEN VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL HAS MADE MY FIRST DAYS OF HIGH SCHOOL AMAZING AND UNFORGETABLE. A few days before the first day of highschool, I was terrified thinking about all the bad things that could happen in high school. But turns out I didn't need to worry. Upon my first day of high school, I was welcomed by all the upperclass students, bombarded with all the pride that this school has, and was able to find ways to better myself not only academically but mentally and physically. I am already started to feel that Evergreen Valley High school is a second home, a place that is fun, safe, and a place where I love to be at. Recently, the entire school was able to work together and raise $4,137 for the Bill Wilson shelter for homeless teens. HOW AMAZING IS THAT! Not only is this school academically talented, but the whole evergreen valley high school community is able to work together to make our whole community a better place. I absolutely love this school, and I can't wait to experience more.

Although this is my fourth and final year at EVHS, it truly feels like just yesterday I was a freshman. Going into high school, I had pre-conceptions of how high school would be the best time of your life and you would make life-long friends and I am happy to say those pre-conceptions have lived up to their name. Evergreen is an amazing school all around with great people. The teachers are great and there are some who really go above and beyond who will leave a lasting impression on you such as Ms. Y and Mr. Boostani. The people you meet will impact you in the best way possible. The friends I've made at Evergreen are people that I care dearly about and will cherish. The spirit here is also out of this world! There are weekly spirit days, noon activities, sports, rallies, clubs, you name it. All in all, EVHS has been my home for the past four years and I will be sad when it is time to say goodbye.

  • Brian Le

Going into my senior year, I really couldn't believe that four years passed by so quickly. I think that it was mainly because of the people and all of the different activities that we have on campus that truly made my experience so unique and practically a part of my life. Whether it was marching band, theater, all of the different clubs I joined, there was always some aspect that made school much better than I thought it would be. Although some teachers and courses may be more difficult, I think that there are actually a lot of support systems that the school tries to offer, but that the student body doesn't recognize or refuses to associate with. In addition, our campus is rather new, is relatively clean, and has such a beautiful view of Silicon Valley. I really couldn't have asked for a better experience with such great people, and I think that so many miss out on this wonderful opportunity.

  • Michelle Nguyen

Once you step on the campus, you just can't help but fall in love with it. It's such a welcoming environment and the campus is just so beautiful. I believe it's a gem in San Jose. Being such a new school, it has done such a phenomal job creating school culture. When I was a freshman, I felt scared but everything turned out okay. Most of the kids here are so kind and helpful - strangers who genuinely care. We have a shortage of counselors but the upperclassmen guide the underclassmen in the right direction. The school spirit here is awesome. The teachers here are so funny and they have the best advice to give. Don't forget our stellar academics. We rank among one of the top 100 schools in America, and number one on API scores in the district. All in all, Evergreen Valley is a school that I want to send my future children to. I love it so much. #evhspride

I have to be honest; I was extremely scared on my first day at EVHS. I assumed that the upper class men would be scary and intimadating, like in the typical high school movies. Surprisingly, I was very wrong. All the upper class men were super nice and helpful. They helped me find classrooms and even offered free otterpops, on the first Friday of high school. Even though, I've only been here for a couple of weeks, I'm already in love with this school. I love how spirited our students are; so many of them dress up for spirit days. I also love how commited our are; we were able to raise $4137 to help homeless teens. I love how our teachers are so helpful and understanding. I also love how our athletic teams have such good sportsmanship. I look forward to every new day at EV and am prepared to pass the best four years of my LIFE!!!!!

  • Nathan Nguyen

EVHS is and has been my school for over three years now. I can't possibly imagine attending a different school. The memories and experiences that has came from my time here will never be able to be replicated. This year, my last year of high school, I decided to take the next step in a different direction. I joined the leadership class at our school. Honestly, it was one of my better choices in that I'm ready to make this year, again my last year, one of the best years of my life. Being more involved in the school has proved to be one of most unique experiences I've had. I never could have imagined so much work and planning behind the events that I used to take for granted. Leadership is now an hour at school I look forward to. This year I will work hard to make it as memorable for all students as I possibly can.

  • Joanna

From the first day of my freshman year, EV had immediately proved to be very different from what I was expecting. I expected there to be very obvious groups that would exclude any newcomers. But what I had experienced was a very welcoming, friendly, and fun environment. Throughout the years at EVHS, it has maintained that positive atmosphere I had discovered from the very first day. Not only is EV a beautiful campus, there are many profound examples of passionate leaders all throughout the school. Not to mention that the events are literally so much fun. Battle of the Classes, Homecoming, Dances, Prom, they all do a absolutely fantastic job of uniting the school and encouraging School & Class Pride. All of these really do make me proud and grateful to be going to Evergreen Valley High School

  • Lily Pham

Really the ONLY thing I have to complain about this school is some of the teachers, but I suppose it isn't the school's fault that I didn't like them. Otherwise, Evergreen Valley is an amazing school with an overall awesome administration, staff, and student body!! I've seen this school do so much for the sake of the community, including the recent drive which accumulated over $4000 going towards the Bill Wilson Center for the homeless youth. Not only that but the school is becoming increasingly spirited. Events like Homecoming and Battle of the Classes and spirit rallies bring everyone together to unleash their infinite amounts of school spirit!!! Being a part of this community is an experience that is definitely unforgettable and worthwhile.

  • Terez Paredes

As a senior at Evergreen Valley High School, I know the school like the back of my hand. After spending nearly four years on the campus, I can honestly Evergreen as come a long way since my freshman year. The moment you step on to our campus you will be surprised at just how many students we have at our school. Not to brag, but I would say Evergreen has the most diverse, talented and amazing school body in the Bay Area. You can easily find over 100 school clubs at our school, we have everyone from dancers, to gamers, to athletes, to an amazing theater program- but more importantly Evergreen's student body and staff is intelligent, leaders and just out right amazing. We're more than just Evergreen Cougars, we're family.

  • Jasmine Qin

Evergreen has a lot to offer. There is no such thing as a perfect school, but EVHS has many accomplishments to share. This school is not only achieves academically, but in many other aspects as well. Our events such as Homecoming, Winterfest, and Battle of the Classes are spectacular and student organized. Every year our Battle tickets are sold out within MINUTES and students from other schools always come to watch. Our sports teams are competitive and strong and we have many CCS and state champion representatives. There is a club for everyone here at EV and the majority of students are very welcoming. The spirit at EVHS has increased tremendously within these past years and I am proud to say that I am a cougar.

  • Michelle Tran

As a freshman at EV and being new to the school and all, my first week here was completely unexpected. Not only were the upper-class friendly to me, but they made me feel welcomed. Leadership went out of their way to provide for the students and get everyone involved during spirit days. The amount of involvement from everyone is mind-blowing. EV as a whole raised $4,137 for the Bill Wilson shelter for homeless teens and those in need. That was done in a single week, and it's unbelievable. I'm only a freshman, but I love EV from the bottom of my heart, and it's the most welcoming and spirited community out there. We never fail to reach our goals, and I honestly can't wait to spend my next 4 years at EV.

  • Connie Dao

Evergreen Valley High School not only has a lovely campus, but also has a very welcoming environment. There are numerous sports, clubs, and programs you can participate in, so there's something for everyone. The amount of spirit that EV has is incredible, with countless students that take part in the spirit weeks and events such as Homecoming and Battle of the Classes. The administration, staff and students work hard in improving this school every day as well as improving the community; within just one week, we were able to raise more than $4,000 for the Bill Wilson Center for homeless teens. I can personally say that I'm proud to be a student here at EVHS.

  • Zara Hasan

I find EVHS to be an amazing school so far. My upper class man are a huge support system, and the leadership class is full of pride. If it weren't for the leadership class, i would be completely lost. They make you want to be proud of EV and are spirited about everything that we do. EV has lunch time activities set up almost every week, and they get the freshman and newer students involved, so they aren't left out. This school is not only a student friendly environment, but it also has amazing staff and teachers. My teachers are a big help and they make sure that i get my work done. I am proud to say that i attend EVHS.

  • Alexandra Larios

Evergreen Valley High School in my opinion is discredited for the wonderful things they have done. I can honestly say that EVHS has a very welcoming and supportive environment. Students go far and beyond to make high school a great experience not just for themselves but for everyone around them. The fact that EV was capable of raising awareness for Bill Wilson center was stupendous! In just one week EV raised $4,137 for the homeless teens here in San Jose. Students along with faculty work really hard to make Evergreen Valley become a stronger community through our academics, our school events, and so much more.

  • Jenny Dinh

EVHS is a marvelous school. Besides the academic achievements from the student body, there has also been extravagant accomplishments- recently, the student body gathered together to attain over $4000 to donate to a homeless teen organization. This was not just a high school trying to achieve a goal- it was clearly a community making a change. The students continuously strive to better the school and world by taking one step at a time. Also, thanks to Ms. Y and Mr. Boostani for taking on two leadership classes that have organized beyond incredible events to maximize the potential of this school.

  • Vincent Giang

EVHS is a positive environment with many welcoming individuals all around campus. The school has amazing spirit and never fails to make me smile and create new memories around it. The teachers have so much hospitality and provide support and encouragement to make sure a positive learning environment is distributed among the students. This school has not only taught me academics, but showed me spirit and a new side of myself. The homecoming rallies, BOTC and many other ASB activities held here only created new relationships and memories I will never forget. This school has much to offer.

  • Tiffany Le

EVHS provides students with a friendly, spirited and positive environment to work in. The faculty not only focuses on the academic achievements of the students but also puts effort into bringing about special events to gain student engagement and participation. There are many positive teachers that offer help far beyond academics and teach you valuable lessons, such as the importance of helping others. I have learned about the value of building friendships, relationships and memories with the people I have met here and will carry these treasures with me long after I graduate.

  • Travis Cheng

EVHS has only been in my life for a short time, but already I know that the next 4 years for me will be only of the most craziest and memorable years of my life. This school is spirited and everyone there is always so friendly. I've already met so many people and made new friendships. The school atmosphere is just plain amazing. Staff, students, everyone is just friendly, that's what's so great about this school. The school offers so many events and extracurricular activities for students which are so great. We just need to keep this good spirit going!

  • Sarina Duong

I've only been a student at Evergreen Valley HS for a month, but this was honestly one of the best months in my life. There were so many fun events to get us all involved, such as spirit weeks! This week was decades week, and it was honestly extremely fun to see all the cougars dressed up and taking pictures, and participating! Everyone looked amazing! I look forward to spending the next 4 years on this campus, and as a class officer, I will try my best to make the school even better than it already is!

  • Sun Hikari (flamingsword)

Pros about EV: 1. LOTS PEOPLE YOU CAN BE FRIENDS WITH 2. All of the clubs 3. A lot of school events 4. Most of the teachers here actually prepare you for life. Cons: 1. The Lunch line (People either really love to cut in the line or they just want to believe that they're ninjas) 2. About 30% of the students here have no academic integrity 3. Some teachers here just give you unnecessary amount of HW (Also some of them post assignments on Schoolloop at 5pm) 4. (I think that's it).

  • Shakira Rakibullah

When I was a freshman last year, I remember on the first day of school I was extremely nervous and anxious for what was coming. But I can honestly say that EVHS has been such an amazing experience for me! The spirit here is so inspiring and you feel so included here. Most of the people at this school are super friendly and I know if you can find it in yourself to open up to the school, these 4 years will be great!

  • Sharon Hoang

I have been at this school for about three years now and I see that the changes the school has been making have truly been for the better. Students are getting more involved and more spirited. The life of this school has uplifted since previous years and I'm so glad I get to be apart of such an amazing environment. If EV continues to strive in this directions, the positive possibilities are endless.

  • Denise Phan

Evergreen has honestly been my home away from home. I absolutely how what ev stands for as a school, and all the things we achieve. Leadership here work extremely hard to get events going, to help better ev for the community. We raised over 4,000 dollars for homeless teens in our area! Our students took initiative and donated! Honestly never want to leave, like ever.

  • Kristian Llanes

Evergreen Valley High School, in my opinion, one of the best high schools this district has to offer. I have attended this school for almost 4 years and I could proudly say that i enjoy every single moment at this school so far! This school has a lot to offer, excellent students and staff, along with the fun and educational classes, and splendid music programs.

  • Lian Hsiao

EVHS is the friendliest and spirited school with various enjoyable activities during lunch and after school, not to mention larger events such as homecoming and battle where students work vigorously to perform as a school/ class. GO COUGARS!!

When I went to evhs just to visit there and I ask the staff members if they have visitor pass but they don't let me and being rude towards me. I finally graduated evhs lasr year and I'm done with this goddamn ghetto high school.

  • Ghostly Bandicoot

Eh. Only some teachers help you and I wish could transfer out of this school. This school is only highly rated cuz of the grades here. Teachers expect you to know everything. I wish I could give it negative stars.

  • Jhkvhhjvuvhk Ubyuh

Everyday high school with over 9000 clubs. Weird enough, about 60% of the school is asian for some reason. There is some grading & student teacher bias like most schools but its not really a big issue for now.

  • Matt Konnick

Evergreen has been a second home to me, I'm currently a Junior and with 3 years beneath me I've spent a lot of time here taking advantage of all of the excellent extra curricular activities EV has to offer.

  • V

Is an ok school. May be a ranked school, but there are teachers there that don't know how to teach. And expectations is over and beyond.
