I don’t shop at express often but after visiting the Express located in Barton Creek Square here in a Austin, TX on Thursday around Noon I’m less likely to ever return. I received terrible customer service from Jose. About a month ago I made a purchase at a different location and went to make an exchange and additional purchase. When I approached the counter Jose immediately appeared bothered. He did not speak first so I initiated the conversation. I told him I’d like to make a return and purchase additional items. I took the items out of the bag and the first thing Jose says is “why are the tags off,” in such a chastising and condescending tone. I didn’t think I needed to explain why the tags were off since I’d never been asked this question before. He continues to tell me that “all retailers require the tags to be on the merchandise if making a return.” I refuted this argument and told him that was incorrect and I’d never heard of such a policy nor was I aware that this was the policy of Express. After he continues this tirade he then says, “Ill make an exception this time.” At this point I asked him why was he castigating me over a pair of jeans and during the course of this exchange he never changed his tone nor apologized. Jose’s attitude was so poor that I should not have made an additional purchase. I should have returned it all and went to another competitor. However, even in spite of his petulance I continued to spend an additional $120. I have never reported someone to customer service but as a paying customer I deserve more respect than what I was given. In addition, I read the policy and it states the following. U.S. Return Policy �We’re happy to accept returns for items within 60 days of your purchase with a valid receipt. If you do not have a valid receipt or if we cannot confirm your purchase in our system, you may exchange the item in-store for another item of equal value, but no refund or credit will be issued. • Shipping and handling fees are not refundable. • Items with “Do Not Remove” tags must be attached in order to be returned. Make sure you’re completely satisfied with your item before removing this tag. I confirmed with customer service that this only relates to items marked with tags that say “do not remove” which none of my items contained. So not only was Jose disrespectful but he was also incorrect. Express I expect you to make this right.

Yesterday, Sept 1st, 2020, I went to the store to exchange some clothes I bought online. I arrived at 7:30 pm and the doors of the store were semi-closed, before I drove there I checked on the express website and Google maps, and both places said they close at 8 pm during week hours. I had to drive from Kyle to the mall because that is the nearest store they do online exchanges. Since the door was semi-closed I started "knocking" and two girls just waived and one of them shouted that it was already closed and that they usually close at 7 pm. I was frustrated and I told her that the regular hours were till 8 pm. She just ignored me. After 3-5 minutes of waiting the two girls decided to walk out of the store and leave, I told them again why they were closing so early and one of them, a blond, white girl, responded that she was the manager and she could close at any time she wanted. I kept arguing with her and I asked for their names and employee ids because I wanted to put a claim and she started yelling that I WAS STALKING THEM!! THAT SHE WAS GOING TO CALL THE COPS! I became the bad guy by just asking them to do their job. I started walking towards the mall exit and left, not sure if she did call them or not. What a horrible customer service experience. Express should update their hours to Managers own the shop and can close at the time they want.

The lady manager that was working at the Barton Creek Mall In Austin TX between the hours of 3-5 on Sunday October 8th, made an elderly Mexican lady who spoke no English cry at the checkout stand. The customer wanted to use an expired birthday coupon from September and she asked for my help to translate. The manager never once looked at me but asked me to stay out of the conversation she told me she understood the customer and didn’t need my help but I told her the customer asked me to translate the manager then said she (the customer) just doesn’t get it and I said well if you turn your frown upside down and smile that’s the universal language in customer service for “I’m sorry, but I understand your frustration.” She then told me to leave her store and I said I will as soon as I pay $309 then I’ll exit gladly. The poor customer left in tears and I couldn’t wait to walk out. Now my only regret is having paid that much money and that adds to her success. If she could have simply smiled she could have made the customer felt heard. You can say “no sorry that coupon has expired” by exuding graciousness. That’s what makes a manager awesome. This truly ruined my day- being rude because a person doesn’t speak English isn’t okay… it’s RACIST.

Look at the reviews at this store, either 1 star or 5, not really any inbetween. Oddly all the 5 stars give names, either friends of worker or something, yet all the 1 stars are like my experience, where we just walk out from the rude employees. Example, they had signs up for both 50% off & B1G1 on the same rack. Thought it was too good to be true, so I broke up their chit chat group and asked them if that was right, they said "no it's not". So why are the signs both there? "Because they can be".... Not that they were accidently left up or anything, just "Because they can be". Doesn't even make sense, so I just walked out... no names no nothing like the fake 5 star named friend reviews, this store is ran by rude employees and their friends. Bait and switch pricing like the other reviewers said too. Called 1800CS as the owner/replier to these reviews said, the 1800CS was nice and tried to offer me the listed prices to a credit on my account, but just told the 1800CS agent that it was just rude employees not putting up and taking down sales signs. Go to the Lakeline store instead, there you can see a fair mix of 1/2/3/4/5 reviews, not the fake 50% 5star and real 50% 1 star like this location.

I was impressed with the customer service I received today at Express. I am so conditioned now to receive terrible customer service as the norm that I was quite pleasantly surprised to receive very good customer service during my purchase experience. An employee on the floor helped me to find an item that I had seen on the website and even asked a manager to help. And during checkout, the lady checking me out went above and beyond. She was friendly in a proper professional manner and genuinely seemed to care about me as a customer. She helped me with my rewards and to find a missing item I was trying to locate. I was impressed. There seems to be a lot of negative reviews for this location so perhaps they're trying to implement changes. Regardless, I had a good experience.

Governor Greg Abbott, Senator Ted Cruz, Israelis, FNC, TNM: UPDATE: There has to be a reason why the hideous looking male cashier was filled with such demonic rage towards me. Maybe find out who he really is, and who he's associated with? I bet this will lead to some powerful evil people behind all this... It looks like I had a couple (two) of female stalkers. One was a tall thin ash blonde Caucasian woman (20s) and the shorter Hispanic one (20s), from what I could tell. The cashier was quite ugly to me. I wonder why... Should I post this up to the police, Governor Abbott? And maybe also to the media, as well?

The Express store at Barton Creek Mall is run down and filthy. I remember a time when store managers and employees actually cared what a store looked like. Now people just complain about not making enough money and take absolutely no pride in where they work. The changing rooms need cleaning and a coat of paint (see photo). The store needs to be swept. Dust was piled up on the store fixtures. Baseboards were filthy. Several of the mannequins had no clothing (poor things just standing there cold and naked). I could go on. Pretty bad for a place that charges $90 for a pair of jeans.

I remember when the quality of express was exceptional. I had certain items for years. I recently bought a couple shirts (mens section) and after 2 wears, the bottom button hole is unraveling on one of the button downs. It’s been several weeks so I no longer have the receipt. I called Express and unfortunately they won’t replace or fix the shirt. It’s a shame because I really like a lot of the clothes but I’m not willing to pay $60 for a shirt that unravels after wearing it 2 times. We’re long past the days of good customer service I’m afraid. Do better Express.

My new favorite place to shop! Quality and designs of material are great and the deals involved with signing up for free are AWESOME! I went in today to buy a pair of shorts, and I had a monthly perk that entitled the shorts to be 100% free! No lie i was so happy. This place wont rip you off with silly "bargains" youll actually get good deals. I like to shop online, but the staff helped me exchange somethings that didnt fit in a fast and friendly manner today. My favorite place by far!

I visited this location today to make several returns from different orders, and Nikki showed phenomenal customer service! She was patient, knowledgeable, and friendly throughout the process, and went above and beyond by reminding me to input the phone number associated with my Insider account and discussing different coupon options with me. The store was clean and well organized, but the overall standout (and my reason for submitting this review) was the customer service I received.

I love the quality of the clothing here but I HATE that this is the second time I came at least 40mins AFTER their supposed open time of 10am. I came to the mall at 10:15 and walked around for 30mins and their still not open!!! I needed to make an exchange before a work shift today but I may just make a return now, when it’s convenient for the store of course. :| Maybe a more reliable opening staff is needed here??? Just a thought.

Kait was hands down one of the nicest people I have met and gave me great recommendations on what pants I should buy. She took the time to make sure the pants fit both vertically and horizontally, and made dang sure I looked good in them. 5/5 store, 5/5 customer service, and I'll be shopping here again. Give this lady a raise and higher her an assistant so she she can keep up the great work!

I drove over to the Barton creek location after work to pick up a sweater I wanted to exchange and the store was closed during hours of operation with no sign. This would have been fine had the associate I spoke to today about canceling my order and making a price adjustment for the inconvenience (on the sweater that went on sale) had not been so incredibly rude. Seriously terrible service.

EXPENSIVE!! Lots of great clothes items, with good brand names, so maybe that's to be expected, but still I was shocked at how pricey things were. Staff was okay, manager seemed fine, but the clerks at the counter moved slower than molasses in January, with sub-par attitudes. Nice changing rooms though! No bathrooms that I saw, which is a detracting feature for me.

Everyone is very nice and tends to you. Very friendly; offers rooms when seen holding your try-ons. Even call you "sweetie" and "honey". So cute. Love their clothes. Their jeans are the best deal. Their t's and some others get those little balls after you wash once or twice. Jewelry is great but over priced. Love their purses; another deal.

We came to get some jeans and were not aware that this store closes at 7pm. We were quickly told that they close in 3 minutes and the dressing rooms were closed. Should of just told us you didn't want our business. Very poor customer service. Will not be back and I'm sure nobody will care. This is the sad world we live in.

I am mainly reviewing Iris, the manager here. What great customer service. She was super helpful, walked around with me to find the right jeans, matched my online order price and offered to cancel the online order for me! All with a sunny disposition. The express jeans and high wasted pants in pastel colors are great!

It was the only place that we actually bought anything at the mall really. They have really nice mens clothes including some good button ups and sweaters (at least in January they do) and I got a nice belt. Its not cramped, they have nice fitting rooms, and have frequent sales.

Tired of renting a tuxedo, I went in to buy. I asked a team member for help getting a measurement to decide which tuxedo I should buy. She said "we don't do that here" and walked away. What a quick way to lose a sale!
