Honestly pretty bad business. Although I think the service used is good, their business practices are not. I had intentions on paying for a 12x20 rental and had this reserved, due to short term complications I was not sure when I was able to move in so I missed the cut off date I was required to pay for the space by one day. Following this I called, spoke with I believe the corporate office, and both regular support, plus on site staff. They forwarded the information to supervisors who denied my request. What was the request? They increased my rental price from $675 to $711, all I asked was to be honored the quote I was given within 24 hours ago. I was going to use this space for 2-3 years. They denied me, each one of them, so I set up a 10x10 and will probably use this for a few months and thats it. But the real kicker is they re-list the same space back for $650 now. So instead of me paying $675 which they denied, they drop it even lower to $650. Pretty comical, and extremely stupid business.

Renters please BEWARE! I first signed up for a 5x5, then upon bringing my things to storage I was told there wasn’t anymore 5x5s and I’d have to get a larger unit for a higher price, after already paying for a 5x5 online. Fine, I did that. A few months in they raised my rate from $70 to $125. Fine, I didn’t want to go through the trouble of moving to another storage. Less than 1 year in, they’re raising my rate to $149, more than double what I signed up for. Meanwhile, the same sized unit is going for $38 on their website. Are you kidding me? I got up sold, then when I was settled in they raised the rate. When I didn’t complain they raised it again. I feel like I’ve been scammed and now have to go through the trouble of moving to another place. It’s disappointing but not surprising that other reviewers have been taken advantage of in the same way. This is not the way to treat your customers.

I genuinely don't understand the positive reviews here unless they are paid. Their business model is to lock you in at a cheap price (in my case ~$60/mo) and then jack up the prices in 3-4 months knowing that you are less likely to move once everything is in storage. I am now being charged $116/mo 3 months into the contract which is insane. I was also told that the prices can and most likely will be raised 3-6mo after that as well. All they do is send you an inconspicuous letter 1 month before raising the prices. Needless to say I am moving everything out this week and would highly recommend against using this location or any other Extra Space Storage location. While I have no doubt that their ability to raise prices randomly is in the contract, the way they go about it is 0 customer centric and should be pointed out.

The staff at John streets in Brooklyn were phenomenal. Jadira Aisha, and Jules were awesome. They made the experience effortless. They were eager to help in anyway they could. I came all the way from Atl. to help my daughter move out of her dorm and truth be told, I did not know what to expect but they made the experience more pleasant than I imagined. I wished we had used them in prior years.

This location has a very knowledgeable and helpful staff. I found my experience to be very smooth and very easy to secure a rental unit from them. The representative named Mia was extremely helpful and came across as knowledgeable and courteous. I would highly recommend anyone who lives in the Dumbo area or somewhere nearby to use their services, the rates are very low and affordable also.

I had a great experience renting a unit at this facility. Jadira was extremely professional and helpful, and was especially patient explaining the different options available in terms of unit size and pricing. She provided answers for all of my questions and help me figure out what the best option was for me and my needs. Would definitely recommend this facility and its staff.

Nice staff, however the elevator has been broken the entire time I’ve had storage and they double the rate each year. No 10-20% increase, a full 200% every year so far… is upsetting extortion to have people move their things in, then offer no easy way to move out and just raise the price every month. It’s not with any warning either. Each month costs more than the last

So I’ve been renting out at this location for about almost two years now. I’ve always had a pleasant experience. Today was my final day renting a unit at this location. I wanted to give a huge thank you to Jadira O. She was extremely helpful & patient. Thank you so so much! If I ever need storage space again I’ll definitely be coming back.

While the elevators remain an ongoing issue, the customer service here reigns supreme. I was considering a move to another facility, but Assistant Manager James Hernandez worked with me to get the pricing right. He and the rest of the team consistently go above and beyond standard practice to make sure customers needs are met!

I have had multiple units here over the years, and this place is truly great. In particular, I want to call out Jadira, who did an incredible job helping with some logistics recently. She is consistently calm and helpful in what would have otherwise been stressful situations — she really goes above and beyond! Thank you!

The service provided by Jadira was amazing! I dropped in today and reserved a unit and Jadira made sure to walk me through we through all my options and provide me with an unmatched level of customer service. Highly recommend this location based on the service and the availability of parking!

I can't get to my storage unit because the 3rd floor is inaccessible since they couldn't open the floor's fire exit doors and the elevators are all inoperable. So literally locked out of my storage when I had to drop off and pick up things before my flight in a few hours. What the hell.

My experience with Extra Space was wonderful! Reserving the unit (in NY from FL) was quick and easy and the staff at the John St location were super friendly and helpful! I would absolutely recommend extra space for all storage needs, and will definitely use them again if needed!

We are experiencing long waits to be taken to our floors. The customer service elevator needs to be repaired to avoid this issue. These storage units cost to much to be inconvenienced. And since this company only wants to pay for one staff to be on site fix the elevators

the entire john street team helped me from start to finish. it started with miles and that initial phone call and it was smooth and easy. i loved every single second of it especially with mckinley. Mia helped me sign the new lease and it was so easy and accommodating

Great service and a clean, efficient facility. Renee was particularly helpful and friendly; she stayed 30 minutes past the end of her shift to make sure that my unit was properly booked and ready to go. Would highly recommend.
