Dropped by in the evening after hearing great things about this place for their hot subs. Unfortunately I was just so disappointed by the service and subs. I dropped by in the evening on my way home and there were a lot of staff on floor, 5 people in the front area alone, maybe more in the back? Anyhow, most were cleaning and despite being in line and trying to order, they just ignored me when I came in. Staff obviously noticed me but nobody bothered to get someone to help take my order. Took some time before someone finally came around. The same thing happened to this couple who came in after me and they didn't greet or say anything to them either. I'm not sure if this is because they were closing in one hour, but they weren't exactly friendly or eager to have our business. Moving onto the subs, I ordered two large subs, a steak and cheese and an Italian sub. Looking at other reviews, their Instagram where they share photos and the ones I got, I can't help but notice these were made carelessly despite them taking 20+ minutes to make and assemble them. Toppings were not evenly spread across the bun for both and they absolutely drenched/flooded my Italian sub to the point of the bottom bread being soaked in their sauce with a heavy pool of sauce on the bottom of my takeout container. This made the bread just mushy, messy and falling apart and I don't think this is normal based off other photos I saw. Overall, taste wise, they actually taste pretty good! Quality of ingredients is there, it just lacks the love. I just think it could have been so much better if the staff had better customer service and they put more care into making the sub. Especially at the elevated price point, I expected better :(

Update: I've gone 5 more times since I initially wrote my review and I love the other subs I've had. I tried two more since then, my favorite is the Smokehouse Brisket. Food is definitely a 9/10 and the staff is amazing still. To begin; from the moment you walk in you're greeted by both the staff and the very modern and attractive look of this restaurant. Once it came time to order the staff were both friendly and helpful. The foods appearance is very attractive and the taste was not bad either however the meatball sub I had wasn't anything too special, it'd probably land a 7/10 on its own. However, that being said the bread was extremely soft and light which impressed and surprised myself and my companion. My companion had ordered a smoked brisket sub and was very impressed. I tried some as well and found it to be very good as well. Thus, I feel as if other subs may have given me a better experience in that department but it still wasn't close to bad by any means. Lastly I wanted to touch on the management. The manager or supervisor can be seen walking throughout the restaurant and engaged in a conversation with us as to where their bread is made and was very kind. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable and I wouldn't mind giving it a try again.

Firehouse makes a really good sub. Fresh, soft bun, but hearty enough to keep all the sauce and meaty juices together without falling apart. The staff are generally welcoming, helpful and genuinely seem pleased to see you. We always round up our order to give to the fireman's fund. We had medium sandwiches - more than enough! We ordered Meatball and the Hero. The meatball sub can be ordered with 3 types of meatballs, we went with the standard, which is basic Italian spices and very juicy. Covered in cheese and almost too hot to eat! Delicious! The Hero seemed like it had every meat in the kitchen on it. Also hot, cheese is melty, deli mustard is great. I also noticed they have hot sauces - didn't think to ask for any (next time I will). Always get the pickle on the side, it's an amazing pickle. Still crunchy and not puckeringly sour. All in all a good excursion, we felt good about supporting local (merchant and firemen), had a great meal (with drinks and all was $30 for 2 of us). We will return for sure. Very satisfied - recommend 4 /5

I'd heard of Firehouse Subs but had never been to one until yesterday. Customers are greeted with a big hello as soon as you walk in. The restaurant is very bright, clean and some great fire station pictures & memorabilia. Not being familiar with the menu it took me a minute or two to decide what I wanted. I got the turkey, bacon ranch on the gluten free bun option. We ate there and they brought our subs to us. My sub was amazing. Everything was so fresh and tasty. The gluten free bun was one of the best I've had. They tend to be dry or crumbly or kinda weird tasting, this was none of those. I had no idea of the Firehouse fundraising and connections to the community they have. I plan on returning for the great food & experience and the bonus of supporting a business who supports their community.

Wife and I went here for the first time. We ordered the lg brisket and a medium chicken sandwich. Both were phenomenal. Quality of the food was very good. Compared to a subway sure it costs more but is nothing in comparison to taste and quality. We were also very happy with the customer service. Bryan assisted us, he was very knowledgeable about every sandwich, we did explain that we had never been here and he was more than happy to help us out. From explaining which were the most popular, what he recommends. My only complaints are quality of life more than anything, there is no chciken sandwich listed on the menu. As well maybe just a bit too much sauce on my sub, next time I'll just ask for less. Overall very satisfied with food, customer service and even following covid guidelines.

Probably the worst customer service I've gotten in a long time. First of all, food is way overpriced, paid you guys close to $60.00 for three subs, really, they're bloody glorified sandwiches. On top of that, when you pay top dollar for "fast food", you would hope for it to be prepared quickly, but we had to wait the better part of 20 minutes, plus you'd never know if they are busy, staff seems to have 2 speeds; stop and slow. It was my first and last visit to your store. Hope you learn what service is about, but honestly I have no expectations since no one seems to care about there paying customers, who buy the way, are the reason you all have a job.

Disappointed, the restaurant was a mess no tables cleaned, floors had food all over them, drink machine no ice, waited almost 25 minutes for our sub, with many other people waiting as well, new employee left to work the front mainly by himself during what seemed to be a rush, subs where not the normal quality I asked for the brisket and got more pastrami than anything, my partners sub was such a mess it was running all down his hands, never had this experience before, so I’m really shocked. I would love to add photos but can’t seem to figure out how, to show how bad the place looked when we arrived and ate.

First time here, so I checked out the impressive menu! A lot of choices. I never eat hot subs but decided to give them a try! Ordered a steak and cheese sub. Medium size and the sub offered beef, peppers, onions mayo and deli mustard. The sub is a decent size served with a pickle. My sub was unfortunately lacking in condiments. The mayo and mustard were non existent. I spoke to the manager and they were very nice and invited me back to try again and they apologized. The meat and cheese along with the Caramelized onions were done right and the buns are absolutely delicious. I will be back as I enjoyed most of the meal and I enjoyed the atmosphere!

  • Brittany Marcil

Looove these subs. Super yummy and fresh. The staff at all locations are always very friendly. My only complaints are that whenever I ask for extra or additional toppings, they (any location I’ve been to) almost always forget to add them or add a minuscule amount. For the price of these, I’d expect no chinsing on the toppings. Also sometimes the service is extraordinarily slow. I’ve had hot plated meals served faster than a sub, even when it’s not busy Otherwise, Firehouse subs has replaced Subway for me (sshh don’t tell). Also love the fire hall and community safety donations concept. It’s nice to see a restaurant helping their community.

  • Valera

Great atmosphere and great staff. I love the variety of hot sauces. The subs I would rate 4 stars, they are pretty good. The price however is a little high for what you get in comparison to similar establishments. The most disappointing was the size of their medium subs, especially for the price of $10. Neither my wife or I are big eaters and usually order medium sized meals when given the choice, after eating a medium sub each we were both still hungry. I haven't tried their large, but judging by other people's plates there should be another sub in between. As in make the medium a small and introduce something in between.

  • Sandra (Co Co Love)

WOW, so many subs at a great price. Great customer service. I have yet have had a bad sub. These sub steal the show, plenty of vegetable pick your favourite sides. The subs come in any variety, or pick and choose your own creation. Kudos for being environmentally sensitive. Appreciate that the sub comes in a corrogated box, Its safe and is well presented. Great store hours, great location, siding Ogilvy where no other then Costco. Go try them out you will be glad and happy to return. I am writing this review and I am getting hungry for one of their sub.

  • Kevan Beauchamp

The Service here is great! Ordered online and the food was ready to pick up on time. Just had to pay and was done in 2 minutes. The manager especially has great customer service skills. The prices are a little higher than your average sub shop but in my opinion its worth it for the taste. Had a Firehouse Hero (?) twice and it was amazing both times. There's also a hot sauce station with a variety of options to try, sorted by spiciness. I like that you can also make little cups to bring some home if you order to go. I highly recommend this place.

  • Sergio Visneskie

Great sandwich spot. Get any of their sandwiches you can't go wrong. But if I was to rate them in order of the ones I've tried I would say it is something like this: 1- Club on a Sub 2- Brisket 3- Meatball 4- Turkey ranch 5- Steak The medium is the perfect size with a side of chips and a pop. If you are feeling brave and hungry go for the large, I must warn you, you will be moving slowly for the next hour but you will also feel a heaven-like fullness in your tummy. Don't forget to Roundup to donate, they donate to local charities.

  • HA

Just tried this place for the first time and oh my. Best sub I’ve had... I ordered an Italian and the smokehouse beef & cheddar brisket. Both were so tasty and very fresh. The location was busy and I can understand why. Girl at the cash was really nice and helpful with all my questions. Little wait for your order but nothing too crazy, either way, it was well worth the wait. I’m sad I’ve only just tried it now. Can’t wait to go back and try more items. Also, love the option to round up and make a donation with your order.

Dare I say, best subs in town? I've been enjoying Firehouse for a little over a year now and the quality and service continue to be outstanding. From the ever so welcoming "Welcome to Firehouse!" as you ever to the almost religiously cleaned bathrooms and dining area. "Of course you've been to subway, right? Well this food kicks Subway to the curb then proceeds to punt them across the road" One of my favorite aspects is rounding up to the nearest dollar to donate to our Local Fire Fighters. Keep up the great work!

  • Michelle Reynolds

Wow factor. What an amazing place with outstanding customer care and service. I love that there is so much community involvement. Subs, soups, homemade cookies and brownies - everything is superb. Ambiance is very cool. Very family friendly and little kids get a red firehat with their meals!!!! Too cute. Very clean establishment, gender neutral restrooms. Bravo!!! A must visit, any time of the year. ps- they sell an awesome cookbook with a collection of favourite recipes from authentic people. #localguide

The veggie sub is one of the best I’ve had for the price (only 13$). I ate in for lunch today while I had my car looked at and one of the employees even cleared my table for me while I was on my phone. I can’t remember her name but she was so nice about it too.

My girlfriend ordered a sub for me, which was supposed to have no mayo. As you can guess from the rating, they can't even read a receipt when making food. Not going to drive across the city to get a new one made, this will be the last time either of us spend our money here. Bumped it up to 4 stars as the store made it right and gave my GF a free sub on her next visit. Still not pleased, but if she's happy, I'm happy

The subs are the best in the city but fair warning do NOT be in a rush when going here it’s more slow food than fast food - the staff is nice and the service is good it just takes a reallllyyyy long time to get your sub, I’ve been here many times and no matter if it’s busy or not you’ll be waiting around 25 minutes or more for your sub.

Definite try! I only knew about Subway before and I didn't think subs could really get any better. How wrong I was! It's like tasting something new entirely. They are normal looking subs.. But they taste so good! I am blown away. I brought new people there and they had the same reaction! The service is very good as well. Nice deco. Prices were good enough too. Keep it up you guys!

My son took me here for Father's Day lunch! We've both never been here before, but had heard so much about it! I had the New York steamer... which I highly recommend, cuz it was amazing! My son had the Engineer, and actually couldn't finish it... that's a first. We had a great lunch and will definitely be stopping by Firehouse Subs again! I even picked up a Turkey bacon sub for my wife, for when she gets home from work!

Oh so delicious ! My favorite subs ever in the whole world ! Super friendly staff, great selection of drinks and virtually any sandwich is perfection there. This specific location is my favorite. Was welcomed as I entered the firehouse. Great selection of gourmet subs. Directly support fire services in the Ottawa And Surrounding operations! I have never thought it was possible to have a clean, editable brisket and smokehouse beef sub! I was so satisfied! Subway says eat fresh! I recommend eat to become full! You never want the gas tank on half all the time right? Best first experience at fire house!

  • Stadiumdogz

The place needs more staff. I don't think it's their fault but it's offside waiting 30mins for a takeout order. I don't care how good the sub is. Delivery apps are ruining the service. If it's over 15mins, you should ask prior to taking a fast food order. It is rather expensive now as well.

The Cajun chicken sub was so bland, eating cardboard tastes better…. None of my co-workers enjoyed their sub either. The pickles are watered down, and the one cookie you get in a meal deal is hard as a rock and completely inedible. Not sure how this place stays in business… I do NOT recommend… even Subway tastes better!

Decided to pop in for lunch today as I never tried firehouse before. I ordered the hero sub and it was great. Tasty, lots of meat on the sandwich and it outbeats the old common sub place. I find the prices slightly high but understandable with the amount and quality of meat put on. Will definitely be back.

We have been ordering online since the start of quarantine. I always have a hard time deciding what to get because it's all so good. My favourites are the Meatball sub (sweet and spicy) and the cheddar brisket. Subway had ruined my liking for subs but Firehouse has brought it back. Definitely worth trying if you haven't already!

We don't have this chain in neighbouring Quebec so love to stop by for a quick lunch when visiting. Better than Subway, and nothing comparable where we live. Our younger son loves the meatball sub, and my husband and I like the turkey one. The staff are friendly and helpful. We'll be back!

These subs are insane. My husband and I got ours delivered via uber eats so we can't comment on the service... But the food was fantastic. Huge subs packed full of toppings. We each got a large, ate half for dinner and reheated the other half for lunch the next day. Completely satisfied!

Great place to eat. Awesome to see a chain that does it right. The subs are delicious, sizable and there's several to choose from all are hot subs. Slightly expensive ($15 for large) but it is worth it. You're paying for quality ingredients and just a tasty product.

Firehouse subs are made with all fresh ingredients. They are the best subs that I have ever had.The staff are friendly and service is quick. Not to mention how money is raised and donated back to the community. This week alone they fed hungry and tired hydro workers.

Great subs, love their bread and their sandwich selection. Nice to have a new sub place that is delicious. It is a little pricy however, it’s worth the money. Great for catering also. They fed the company I work for with over 30 sandwiches all well made.

There are better sandwiches places but we're not talking about just a sandwich. We're talking about the meatball sub. This is by far the best in the city. Goes to a good cause. It's a massive sub! Highly recommend. Oh and the fresh pickle is awesome.

This is my new go-to sub/sandwich place, I had the Hook & Ladder and my partner tried the Engineer and we were both super satisfied and now looking forward to the next visit to try other subs. The ingredients were really fresh, nice soft

I am a big fan of Firehouse Subs but the service I received at this location was horrible. There were 2 other people in the restaurant who were served quickly. I placed my order and waited..and waited...and waited. The staff seemed very

Would be 5 stars, but the last few times I've been here for takeout I've had to wipe off the outside of the bag because it had bbq sauce on 3 of 4 sides and I'd prefer not to have stains in my vehicle. Sandwiches are great though.

First time trying their food. Not disappointed!! Best meatball sub I've ever had! Hot, fresh, generous portion. Other sub ordered was steak and cheese, same review. Cookies and brownies great too. I will order from them again!!

Very delicious sandwich but a bit pricey. The portion was big enough but pricey. I gave them five stars for the sandwich.

1. Very friendly service as soon as we walked in the door. 2. Very nice establishment to eat in. (Includes a Coca-cola freestyle fountain) 3. The food. Wow. You may think the prices are a bit higher than some other sub

Delicious Subs. Nice atmosphere. The service was slow, but it was clear that they were short-staffed. Businesses should never expect one person to fill the rôle of three. Needless to say, that one person was a trooper!

It's a new sub place in the east end that we were interested in trying out. We found the subs tasted great and had the right amount of toppings. Overall really enjoyed our meal and would go back again.

The place is nice and the staff super friendly. I found the price to be a little expensive but I had a great sandwich and as I understand some of the money goes to help local firefighters.

Delicious!!! So lucky to have this place in the east end. These subs are in a different league than subway. Quality ingredients, LOADED with meat, mouthwatering! Great service every time.

Got the beef & cheddar brisket sandwich. Huge sub (I got the footlong) and very tasty and filling. Pricier than most other sandwich shops, but I would say it's worth the extra cost.

This is 100% my go to place for subs. Their cheddar brisket is absolutely amazing and so is every other sub I have tried here. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

The food was delicious, kids will love this place and the employees were very nice. Highly recommend for sandwich lovers.

The BEST sandwiches in the world! Plus the customer service is EXCELLENT! The main guy who takes care of the billing, orders, serving - basically everything, he is the best!

1st time there. Very friendly service. Had the Meatball Sub. It was delicious. Their Brownies had a crisp exterior, but a gooey interior, so kinda the best of both worlds.

Has some of the best premium subs in the area. Their beef briskets are amazing and is a must get if you haven't tried it before. Overall, it's a nice sub place.

  • Bigs73

Seriously, these are the best subs I've ever had. I took a #10 sub and it was freakin amazing! Great service and atmosphere. I will definitely go there again.

Second bite in and I found a hair in my veggie sub. Not thrilled. Sent the husband back to get a refund.

The ingredients tasted fresh but the overall flavouring of the proteins wasn’t appetizing to me.
