The two problems I have with First Ireland is the waiting time to get through to an agent and the uncertainty of what kind of agent I do get. There are some that genuinely couldn't give a damn and seem fed up to be helping you and then other times I get the most amazing/ helpful agents on the phone. My last renewal I was quoted 1450 and when I rang one man said that was because I was in a collision six months prior and had a case open. I explained that me and the other driver of the vehicle agreed to pay our own damages as damage to my car was very little . My cars a bit of a Bangor so a little dent wasn't the end of the world to me. Anyways, the agent told me my renewal was so high because the case is still open and I said well can you close it, I have the text messages saying we agree to pay our own damages. He told me there was nothing he could do and that I have to pay my renewal by tomorrow.I asked to speak to a manager he said you can but he'll tell you the same thing, I said can you ring my insurer to close the claim he said I can but there's nothing they could do anyway. I mean this guys attitude was so rude I actually start getting upset. I hung up and I rang back only to get put through to another agent, who was WONDERFUL from the very start. I told him my story just as I did the other agent and finally I felt like I was being listened to. He said he thinks it was a small problem that he could fix with my main insurer. Around 5 minutes on hold, he picks up and said that's sorted for you now and my new renewal was 850. I wish I remembered his first name but his second name was O Flood. He was so kind and understanding and honestly he's the only reason I stayed with First Ireland. Because now I know his email and I will only deal with him from now on if I can lol. Sorry for the long winded essay I just hope someone in First Ireland might see this and tell some of there agents that kindness goes a long way and that for some of their costumers 600 is a LOT of money especially to be wasted on an inaccurate renewal. When your dealing with them ask for O Flood. Hopefully there's only one. :)

Got a quote online, next day I got call from James, went through the details again, and he assured me he could do better, I advised him truthfully of the best quote I had go from another company. He said the best quote he had was from my current insurer, but he couldn't quote me that price as it was from my current insurer, to which I am confused. Anyway he was going to ring me back as he said there was another company he wanted to check with and was sure they would better the best quote I already had. No Call Back....... I did get an email though for €140 more than the best quote I had, and €46 more than their own online quotation. Tried ringing James back, spoke to a female colleague of James that assured me James would call me back..... No call back. Rang again about 2 hours later and spoke to Brian, again promised that James next call would be to call me back.... 3 days later and still no call back. I'm sure the management are very proud of their staff. Won't be getting my business this year or any other year for that matter.

Got a quote for renewal I was happy to pay. Paid online. Checked over the proposal form and noticed additional driver listed as spouse instead of parent (this information was completed by the company not me) , a clear typo. Asked for amends and was told there was an additional 482 euro to pay. (on top of 1462.67 already paid) Checked the market rate, the original quote was inline with market rate. Explained to sales member this was unsatisfactory I wasn’t paying 482 over the rate. “There was nothing they could do for me” I had no choice but to not accept the renewal. Despite an email saying the policy would not be in place until they received a signed proposal they said I had to “cancel” the policy. They then refunded my payment MINUS their fee of 60 euro. Really bad customer service. Please exercise caution if choosing this broker.

Worst people and company I've ever seen, staff and customer service is awful no words to say.. Before I got insurance with them I called them 4 times (4 times - 4 agents - 4 different prices) for insurance, I gave exactly same details. Once I got offer to get a policy for €6700 and (5 minutes) later I called again, I gave exactly same details and I got €2800 offer, is this a joke? So I asked that agent how to understand that? One of your agents asked €6700 5 minutes ago and now you asking €4000 less, and between another two calls was €100-200 differences, so I can say it's a lotto :)I spoke with them today and I decide to cancel my policy after 6 months and I asked them is this legal what are you doing with prices and agent was not able to answer me that

so was insured through these cowboys (or thought i was) for three months where first Ireland where taking money from my account some time costing me overdraught fees so they agreed to refund me after 4 weeks and over 350 minutes of wait time, they have told me I wont get the money back only my deposit so even though i was not insured with them they took it upon themselves to take my payment monthly and are refusing to refund it. I cannot stress enough to any would be customer to STAY AWAY FROM THESE FRAUDS terrible service unfriendly and unhelpfull staff and nobody wants to do anything for you. i only awarded them one star because it was the lowest i could give shocking behaviour from a company in a time of financial strain shame on them

I agree with all the reviews, I made a mid term adjustment in June and at that time spent a number of days trying to get through. I moved on from this as life is too short I now am forced to leave a review in the hope Im contacted as I have spent the last two weeks yes two weeks trying to contact them for my Documents as they did not arrive in the post. In excess of 30 minutes at a time waiting for an anwser and the calls drop. I requested a callback still no response. Emails are an absolute waste of your time. But ill get the fine from the Gardai and Points for non display of my Disc even after paying them more money for the change. I have two policies with them and I am considering a change but to whom as they are all the same.

When I began motor insurance using this company many years ago they were very good and had some very helpful staff. However in the past few years - actually since the covid lockdowns - they have become a totally abmissmal shower! Their office is closed to public without an appointment (which is next to impossible to get). Their phonelines are absolutely dreadful and rarely answered within any acceptable time (often you could wait 20mins or more). Many of the staff there now are abrupt and even rude and well below an acceptable level of capability - I get the impression that many of them dont really care about the job they do. In general, their customer care is atrocious. Stay away from them is my advice!

Dreadful. You get answered quickly if you are lucky to be a new customer looking for quotes but left holding All day if you are presently a customer and trying to renew your policy and need to talk to someone before you do so. When I left a message last week on an answering machine nobody rang me. Rang again today and I told them I was going to go elsewhere if they transferred me to a number where I would be holding on again forever. I chose the option for new customers. A real person answered me but could only take a message for the Renewal Team to ring me. We are with them years. Terrible treatment of long standing customers.

Not helpfully atal Spoke to luke ,paid my fee he had promised me that he would send my disk out and still no disk ,7 working days later! Risking penalty points on license without disk as the vehicle has to be in use everyday When I call they have me on hold then tell me that I'll get a call back shortly That's what's happened several times very very frustrating as my father who's 73 im doing this for I'd be gutted for him to get penalty points on his license due to this insurance company Wouldn't recommend this place Takes ur money an not help a 73 year old customer out is volatile

I have been with this Company for most of my life and sadly they now are an absolute disaster to deal with in recent years. I changed my car yesterday and was sitting in the garage on the phone trying to make contact with First Ireland. After holding for 45 minutes with nobody to talk to I phoned the Insurance Company directly who in turn E Mailed FI to contact me. They did almost straight away and the person I was speaking to was quite rude when I tried to vent my anger. I for one would not recommend this Company mainly because of their lack of Customer Service.

Abosolute disgrace and joke of a company!!! Only impart way through the year already I would cancel. I have a driving instructor policy and all I want to do is take a car off the policy.they have asked me to send in the cert for the car in question which I have. Just been on the phone half an hour a guy answered,took my details and said he would put me through to the sept that amends policies,after over half an hour waiting my call disconnected,I rang straight back only to be told they are closed for lunch. Won’t go back next year!!

I had a good experience today with Rebecca on online chat. After holding on the phone for nearly 20 mins and getting repeated messages, I decided to give the online chat a go. I was sorted within about 10 minutes. The only thing that I didn't like was when I was initially waiting for a response on the online chat, it asked me if I wanted to play a game. This is really annoying - if you want to do business, you just want to get it done and not be playing a game to make it feel like you are not waiting as long.

Being with First Ireland for years and they have being very good with quotes. I rang to get house insurance on hold for 45 mins and was told I would get a call back , I never did . Rang to change over my car insurance over to a new car, on hold for 55mins andw was told twice on the same call they would put me through, as they be closing in 13 mins ,I explained I was on hold for 55mins.End result they hung up and I had no insurance over the weekend on my new car .. extremely Poor service .

I first used First Ireland many years ago and found them very good. They have contacted me every year, whether I chose to go with them or not, to see if they could help me to get a better deal on my car insurance. This year they saved me quite a bit of money and their service has been second-to-none. I cannot fault anything about them and they could teach some of the insurance companies a great deal about customer service and support. I cannot recommend First Ireland highly enough.

Had to Cancel my policy with them. Horrible to deal with. Be ready to wait over 45 mins every phone call or wait an hour and get hung up on. Also if you want to be without your NCB definitely go with these as they won’t send it to you and it’s impossible to get through to them by phone or get a reply via email. Serious improvement needed. Not to mention they still owe me 3 months worth of insurance which I paid also. Stay away there’s many better brokers.

My whole family now have their car insurance (including classic car insurance) through First Ireland. They have always proved to be the most competitive. I have recently changed to them regarding my house insurance and once again, in this area, they have proved to be extremely competitive. I will have another policy due for renewal in a few months and I am sure that they will probably have that business as well. Staff always very friendly and efficient.

This insurance is unbelievable. I’ve got policy open paid deposit of €230 and I’ve cancelled the policy the second day in the morning. because I’ve got anther quote wich was alot cheaper And they didn’t refund my money back. Hold on my money jast had the police open for 24hrs. And after 4 weeks they told me that they don’t own me ney money back can you believe that unbelievable verry bad insurance company they actually robbed me tuck my money

On hold for 52 MIN and counting before my phone ran out of credit. Don't go with this company unless you have plenty of money & time to burn Edit: Poor service for existing customers (once they have your money). Rang Sales and got an answer within 5 minutes. However, she "couldn't help” me make a change of vehicle. She attempted to put me "back in the queue" and the call immediately disconnected... back to square one and out of phone credit

Rude and absolutely disgusting, dismissive attitude. Wouldn't give you business ever again after 5years I am done. Waited 4 days for a call back "because we're having issues" and when I called back, on the fourth time, I was left waiting 30min on hold to be cut off at 5pm. When I called again Monday am I was then told " That's your own fault calling so late on a Friday" So with pleasure I gave my business to another company.

Been a memeber for over 10 years. Ringing all week to get my wife added to my insurance. On hold for an hour and 36 minutes yesterday to finally be answered by a guy in a call back team who knew nothing about insurance and only took my details so someone could call me back. "they'll probably ring you by Friday" is what I got. Absolutely disgraceful. Don't care how busy they are, look after your customers!!!!!!!

I have to agree with other reviews. Their customer service is atrocious. I have been waiting to speak to an agent for 1hr 55min just as I am typing this review... Yesterday I rang around 12:30pm, waited to speak to someone for 30min and was hung up on, as they close for lunch 1-2pm. Now afraid this will happen again today as it is getting close to 1pm again. I am not going to renew with them, that's for sure.

I'd highly recommend anybody to give them a ring come renewal time as they were able to get me very competitive prices more than once. You might say this is what an insurance broker should do anyway, but they do stand out also for their excellent customer service. Could not be happier with their service and prices, everybody I have been dealing with so far has kept the standards up. Highly recommended!

I came to Ireland in 2019 and they were the only company I could find that helped me with insurance. Ever since, I have renewed yearly and received timely reminders and communication. I again renewed my policy today and was assisted by Dean. He made me feel like his priority and delt with me patiently. Absolutely awful to deal with. Tried using online to pay home insurance put in ref no. and brought up no information so thought site mustn't be working properly. Rang and holding for along time and eventually you get a message if you wish to leave name and number someone will ring back. Someone did ring back, happy days and then proceeded to put me back in the hold queue. Never again

I then spoke to Jodie who was very professional and thorough and went through everything with me. Unfortunately this time they were not able to match the quote I had but based on my experience with Jodie I will ring again for my house insurance.

I need to cancel my husbands van insurance but before they will tell me what refund he is due they NEED 59.85€ To process it now after they take what want from it He could possibly be due ?? Yea maybe nothing hungry or what can’t believe they can’t look at what is left in time on policy and advise yea but give us that 59.85€ first don’t touch them.

Been a member for 3 years. Writing a review today to express my frustration when reaching to the customer service. Have to wait for almost an hour **EVERY TIME** calling for something for help. No matter when. I honestly think there only one person answering customer queries, or is there? I will definitely change to a different broker next year for sure.

I would really recommend First Ireland. Firstly because they gave the best price for a Learner driver insurance, secondly they were fast, all sorted out within a week, which means from the payment to get my insurance disk took less than 5 working days. I am more than happy with their services and I am 100% sure that I’ll renew my car insurance with them!

Started process of getting insurance in January after a month of sending in documents resending going to them and putting documents in their hands and and payed them in full, still looked for same documents again, I had to give up and go else where. It then took another month to get refund, plus hours on hold ,Nightmare to deal with....

Danielle who dealt with my simple request was pleasant and professional. However the whole transaction took 44 minutes of interminable waiting. This occured before the call was answered (30 minutes) and afterwards when Danielle put me on hold twice. First Ireland need to radically improve their client contact telephone service.

I had a call back from Niamh at First Ireland regarding a query on my car policy. All my questions were answered in a really helpful manner and nothing was too much trouble. Yes, I did have to hold for 20 minutes initially but the quick call back and the manner in which I was dealt with warrants the 5 stars. Thanks Niamh.

Disgraceful phone service asked for two call backs in the last two weeks and still have not received one. Was on hold for 52 minutes and was disconnected by their staff. Rang again and was on hold for a further 50 mins and had to hang up out of frustration. I have now changed insurance and will not be returning.

If i could give 0 stars i would. Admitted they messed up my insurance policy after a year and 3 months had to cancel and go somewhere else and lost 3 months no claims. Customer service is absolutely terrible. One of the most unprofessional companies i have ever dealt with save your money and go somewhere else.

they don't reply emails, you call and have to wait several minutes and while waiting, you hear "they are expecting a high volume of calls", but you have it any day you call, any time. they mess up with many things, by phone or email, you provide an information and they update the database with something wrong.

Great service, the service provider, Dean, I think was dealing with me. He got me a great deal. I was just looking to renew and was at work and couldn't spend long on the phone so wasn't being diligent on price. Dean looked something up on my policy and found me a much better deal which I greatly appreciated.

Great people to deal with, responsive to phone calls, extremely helpful and seem like a one stop shop for all motor insurances. Got me a great renewal quote. Super friendly staff. Got a direct line to call if I ever need anything. A far cry from my previous insurers (liberty) 40+mins to even answer the phone.

First Ireland were competitive with quotes when I was starting out as a young driver and I have been with them for many years as they continue to be cheap. Trying to get in contact with First Ireland by phone is painful however. Regularly left waiting over half an hour just to speak with someone.

This is my second year with First time Ireland I’m very happy on the service they give to me. I ring today for the renewal of insurance and it took me just 22 minutes to sorted my insurance. The lady on the phone was very polite and professional and knowing how to deal with the costumer.

If you ask for a quote, they will send you texts and emails with no unsubscribe links for months. Really bad practice. We've asked them to stop, but they don't. Happy to remove this review when they allow potential customers easily unsubscribe from future communication.
