i'm from arlington. there aren't many freshwater options down here, so i must say i was glad to see 8 rows of freshwater tanks from the front door. i wasn't looking to purchase anything but they had a very nice selection of freshwater fish and crustaceans. they also carried aquariums; single or a full kit with a stand, some were dry scaped for you to get a rough idea of what it would look like. there were also stones, driftwood, water chemistry products, etc. i was promptly greeted at the door by a male employee who thoroughly answered my question regarding the tanks that they sold. after a little walk around to check out all of the animals, i was helped by a very helpful female employee who showed me the driftwood that they carried and listened to my story about my upcoming tank. she told me that they didn't have the driftwood i was looking for but informed me of another store pretty close by that could have it on hand (which they did). i saw an article that said that the Aquarium Boutique was closing though, being replaced by a Fish Gallery. i could see remodeling happening past the freshwater section, which was confirmed by the female employee who helped me. also, the other aquatic store that she recommended was not an Aquarium Boutique, but a Fish Gallery. i guess the Aquarium Boutique is leaving the space; lots of things on sale right now, so a good time to come in for some deals. all in all a great experience. i would definitely come check this place out soon if you're looking for some good service, rimless tanks, hardscape, or animals.

I’ve been coming here for the last 5 years for fish and supplies. Even though the employees seem to change every year, they are always helpful and kind every time I visit. The Albino Weather loach I purchased 5 years ago is now longer than my hand. I call him Mr. Noodle and he’s very social. I purchased Molly fish 3 years ago and they like to have babies and produce the cutest fry. Sometimes Mr. Noodle has the fry as a snack, but it’s ok because I don’t need overstock. Today I finished cycling a 5 gallon aquarium in my home office and was looking for the perfect buddy to go in, and here I found a lovely Red Dragon betta fish. He’s very sassy, but that is a good trait to have when you purchase a betta. He will be living alone anyway so he can be sassy all he wants. All of my beautiful fish come from this store, and even when I moved to Forney I still come back for fish here. Every time I visit Dallas, I cannot help but stop in and look around, and I always leave with something. It’s like a guilty pleasure for the aquarium hobbyist. Pro Tip: If you live far away and plan to buy fish, bring an empty cooler with you. You can store your beautiful bagged fish inside the closed cooler. The cooler will make it dark so your fish will relax and help prevent stress, and the cooler works as an insulator to keep the bag the same temperature all the way home, so they won’t have a temperature shock from being transported.

I just wanted to say a deeply grateful thank you for the staff of Aquarium Boutique. It a lovely store and after losing 6 people last year and the last one had an aquarium that suffered. I took over it as well as his care taking. His fish meant a lot to him. I live in Maine and I have been here in Dallas over a year. I honestly couldn't stand to see anything else die unnecessary. So, I made trips 3 time to the boutique with fish. Everyone was so nice and reassuring that all would be taken care of and hopefully these fish who entertain us and relax us, go to good parents. My last visit was Thursday this week. I managed to catch a bunch of tiny guppy babies. Not worth much to anyone but still, left in my care. It was as if I was caring for crown jewels because of the one I loved, and lost, who owned them. Thanks to the staff there as they will care for these babies and find them homes. That's the best I can hope for. Thank you for making this simplified as I struggled with time constraints and the babies were so small... Its one relief as I head back home. I'm sincerely grateful especially as I grieve. I hope your clientele appreciates all the joy these little beings give. They are not merely furniture or props in life.

Was like a kid in an aquaculture candy store of sorts! Haha! Beautiful livestock and varied stock of plants. I was so impressed with the health of their pufferfish (who typically are wild caught and come riddled with internal parasites and are therefore typically rather malnourished in the store setting) that I couldn't resist getting another handful of Indian dwarf "BB" or Pea Pufferfish when I already have 5 healthy ones at home. The atmosphere was very professional and very personable. It's now one of my favorites in the DFW area, just absolutely loved this place and highly recommend it! (Photo is of the puffers after acclimating to my home tank's water right before I put them in... Remarkably had 100percent survive after an 8hr drive back home!) Returned a week ago and the man working was so patient and knowledgable that I needed to update my review. Smart staff helps greatly, but smart and patient is just super impressive! Again, great store! Worth just even to look around.

First ,Someone left a review they were upset cuz they had a sick fish and the person at store seemed busy, well maybe they had 3 customers in store and cleaning 6 tanks and they are by themselves, and special one you call and want what you want! Go to store! People are so inconsiderate of what employees go through. Go to the store like the rest of us and I'm sure they would help you with your problem, but you leave a one-star review for that one experience. If it was my store I wouldn't even want you in there. Everytime I've gone to the store I've been met with knowledgeable employees and help. And when I see that I walked in while they're helping somebody else I'll tell the employer you take care of your business I'll look around a little bit more. But you know spoiled little kids want what they want. I set up a new 65-gallon tank and all looking good. All the plants are doing really well. Very happy. I know if they sold kitty cat stuff I would be going there for that to.

This place is a bit of an enigma to me. The selection is small, but they tend to carry stuff you don’t see at other aquarium stores in Dallas. The staff is knowledgeable and incredibly helpful, despite always seeming like they just got done smoking a bowl, but don’t quite understand how to “sell” or provide a memorable experience. And the livestock I have purchased here has been perfect, despite the store being so dirty I literally feel like I need to wash my hands after I leave. My personal opinion as someone familiar with running businesses is that this store definitely is run by people super passionate about the industry but that don’t quite understand how to run a business. If they could tighten up some of the small things (for the love of god, this store is in need of a scrubbing and general field day) they would have one of the best stores in the entire country.

I really enjoy the fish here, but there is one staff member who always has a bad face on. It is the girl who always wears a tank top and a headband on her ponytail. She had a really bad attitude when her coworker let her know I needed help. On top of that, she told me they do not have warranty on their fish. I then asked what would happened if the fish I bought died within days. She stated it was a case by case basis and I would have to bring a water sample in AND CALL them before going?? Well sure enough the $25 fish I bought died within days. He was in a cycled tank with fish mates, so I had no problem bringing in a water sample. Luckily, my dad tossed the fish so i couldn't return him. They must have real high expectations on the quality of fish they carry if they have no warranty. I will not be returning here whatsoever.

My instincts told me not to trust this place, but I didn't listen. I should have. First of all, they make you text them your name to get in and then they lock the doors and lock you in, which is just so creepy. Still, they had the fish I wanted, so I got a few fish from this place. They seemed fine when I got them, but I noticed a few tiny white spots on them a few days after adding them to the tank. Ich! The whole tank I added them to has Ich now! Several of the new fish are dead and I lost two of my older fish as well. I'm having to treat the entire tank with chemicals which will kill my established plants. I'm going to have to rebuild the whole tank, basically, and I'm beyond mad about it. This place is total garbage. You couldn't pay me to go back.

  • Guillermo Landos

Sent a message in advance via Facebook to purchase neon tetras and they got back to me within an hour. Went and got the fish and looked around while they were getting them out and preparing the bag. When I got home I noticed one fish had some type of disease(white tail), so took a picture and message them via facebook again but they went radio silent on me. Needles to say the fish died and now I have another one showing the same symptoms, so I will have to quarantine the fish and hopefully I can save this one. Be aware when buying livestock there, and always stay with the staff to make sure they're not giving you sick fish. Back to the Aquarium Gallery for me as I never had issues with them.

  • Austin Prochaska

I always love to stop by this store when I am in the area, talk about a small, unique tropical fish paradise. They have a great selection of micro tropical fish, tetras, corydoras and other friendly community freshwater fish. Where they excel though, is their C/A and S/A Cichlid selection. They have a good amount of rocks and live plants to select from and a decent amount of Saltwater fish and crustaceans. I highly recommend this store for their experienced employees who are highly educated and provide great advice, they also enjoy discussing your ideas and what your thinking of stocking and making appropriate adjustments or suggestions.

  • Sylvia Monsivais

This is a small shop, but it's very well stocked and the staff are super friendly and customer service oriented. The gentleman that helped me admitted that he was new, but had no problem asking someone more knowledgeable to get the correct answer to my questions. He waited patiently while I selected the fish I wanted. My only teeny tiny complaint is that he did smell like he hadn't showered for a few days, but he offered such excellent customer service, that I'll definitely return. The fish looked well managed as well and the other gentleman was just as helpful! Recommend.

The Aquarium Boutique is an awesome place to purchase fish and aquarium supplies. Their aquariums are always stocked, the fish are all healthy, and the prices are very inexpensive! The employees are all very knowledgeable and respectful, I have never entered the store without being greeted and asked if they could help me find what I was looking for. The owner Yuki is a great guy to chat with, he makes you feel like more of a friend than just a customer. I would highly recommend shopping at the Aquarium Boutique for all your aquarium needs. Great store. Great people. Great fish.

  • Kim Argubright

The conditions in which they keep their fish is not ideal; the tanks are small, overstocked, and often feature multiple dead fish that have obviously been sitting for a while. The customer service was terrible. I bought 12 fish from them yesterday afternoon, this morning every single one was dead. We had tested the water and the conditions were clean and safe, we drip acclimated the fish for an hour and tested to make sure the pH/temperature matched before adding them to the tank. They would not give our money back.

  • Alisa Patterson

Went to school w the owner. Good person but also wonderful fish, knowledgeable and cared for fish. We got fish back in 2015. I still have 3/5 of them after moving across the country twice and lots of local moves. One died only because he was old and the other because the one shark ate the smaller one. We had fish dying when we got our tank and he checked the water for us and made suggestions that worked. Well cared for, clean store and we are driving from Tyler to get more fish from here!

  • Charles “charles h” Hendricks

My fresh water go2. Very good selection. Decent prices. Staff are knowledgable aquarium hobbiests as well. Sells RO water/etc. Will sometimes take trade-ins for store credit. Tanks & fish are well kept... nowhere near as bad as the big retailers. 2/3rds of the store is dedicated to freshwater, and the rest salt and they always have a few brackish tanks too. This store is in the top 10 on my list for the DFW area... IMO this place has everything I would expect from a Aquarium/fish store.

  • K C

Not a bad place, honestly would give 5 stars if they renovated. It has a little bit of a hoarders vibe and while the tanks themselves are not that dirty, everything else appears dirty but, it hard to say if it’s cleaning or just wear. This place just needs to tear down the racks and restart their tanks, improve the lighting, and organize the inventory a bit better. Now that fish gallery is gone, I think if they did this then they could capitalize on the market for the area really well.

  • Brian Edwards

Wonderful shop with wonderful staff. This is the spot to come for fish in Dallas. The prices are very fair, and the customer service is great. Plenty of beautiful, healthy corals to choose from and lots of fish too. The owner and his staff care about the animals and I’ve seen them turn people away from an animal that they weren’t ready for. That speaks volumes!!! Not your typical fish store where they will say anything to be sure you buy something. Keep up the great work folks!

  • Reggie King

This the second time I’ve purchased something from this store and died in 1 to 3 days. I purchased 5 coral reefs on different occasions they all died within a week. I recently purchased a starfish sand shifting that died in 3 hours of being in my tank. I test my water once a week so I know that’s not the problem. I got them a bunch of chances but I don’t feel comfortable spending money on salt water fish or coral reefs and they don’t live past 3 hours

  • dannye van

I want to love this place. I love the selection that they have, but there are always so many dead fish in the aquariums. A lot of the tanks are full of fish with ich. There's no way I would put anything from the store into my tank. Not to mention, there is construction stuff everywhere. There's no room to walk down the isles if someone else is looking at fish. Like I said, I really want to like this place, I would just never buy anything from there.

  • Randy Carlson

Drove 40 minutes to get to the store today. They have some really good Covid protocols in place. They’re only allowing a certain amount of people in the store at a time and you have to text to set up an appointment. I just wish I would’ve known that before I drove all the way to the store. I did not have time to sit around and wait today, but I hope to come back and try this place another day.

  • Kristin

This place is awesome! Stopped by to check out their stock and walked out with everything that I was looking for. As soon as you walk in, they don't bombard you - they let you do your thing until you're ready to make some choices/ask questions. I was VERY happy with their variety and selection of small freshwater fish and shrimp. If you're looking for shrimp/crayfish, this is your place!!

  • Brie Klutts

I love that this place is small and you can always get fast service, however, when I ask about options in food and tank supplies to make my mantis shrimp happy, google gives me more info than them. It is disappointing. I cannot complain about the niceness of the staff though. I much rather go to a small business that specializes in aquatics than than a general pet store.

  • Vincent Cotton

Not friendly, unavailable really to help over the phone, still waiting for a lid I ordered a week ago that got “overlooked” and when I ask for a refund they only “apply store credits”. Lastly very dirty inside and unorganized. Only reason why I am giving 2 stars is because they gave me a store credit for a fish I sold them. I thought that was nice.

  • M Carter

Stopped in with my grand daughter to look at aquariums. Beautiful displays, some really well-designed tanks and environments, and friendly staff. A young lady walked my grand daughter all around the store and told her about the different fish, even let her touch a tiny, live starfish. Really neat and clean and bright shop, definitely worth a look.

  • G B00ch

Lot of review raving about the "great employees." Really wondering where they're at because the man working at the store on my visit was extremely rude to us. We were asking and trying to pick out some shrimp, but his response was simply that "it's not worth my time. You get what you get." Cool selection but terrible customer service.

  • Didi A

Lots of fish to choose from but i was mostly impressed with the customer service. The guy didn't just want to rush me into buying. he gave great advice and even advised i come back with a sample of the water before purchasing. He was really knowledgeable. I will definitely go back here when i am ready to set up my aquarium again.

  • Caris hollins

The customer service was awful the guy with the long hair was very rude and not helpful. When asked about a biological filtration. Granted I made not be as knowledgeable but I was needing assistance not to be talked rudely to. Will never visit again. And it smells awful as well not a lot of tank maintenance goes on.

  • Ari

**Disclaimer** Bought some algae eating fish (3). This is week two had 1 fish dead Saturday. 2 fish dead on Sunday. Now it’s Monday another fish and the algae eating fish is dead. Had my fish for over 2 yrs & never a problem. Now having to breakdown clean and reinvest back into our peaceful scenery.

  • S N

Went to the grand opening Sept 2nd at 10AM and they only had like 8 adult african cichlids to choose from. They were all dull and sick looking. They had a nice display tank when you walk in, stocked with some nice cichlids but they aint for sale. They obviously had their focus all mixed up.

  • Betty

I'm sorry I didn't catch her name but the young lady that works there is super helpful! Everytime we go she goes out of her way to help my husband and I with our questions. Her recommendations are always spot on. She's not only professional but shows she genuinely cares about the fish.

  • J Hitchcock

This is quite the busy shop so you need a little patience if you need a tank setup. That being said, they have a fantastic selection of fish and accessories. I highly recommend having them setup your system for you. Brian came in and set this tank up beautifully. Love, love, love it!

  • Samantha Atwood

Awesome selection of fish that are hard to find, sadly quiet a few tanks had ich otherwise would have gotten a few more. The bags they use are rather weak and a couple of ours fell to the floor. They were really friendly and did warranty our fish if anything happens. Will go back.

  • Brian may

Just now tried to call and ask a simple question regarding a sick fish i have. I was immediately aware that who ever i was speaking to did not want to be on the phone. When i asked if he had time for me he simply said “not really”. Terrible way to run a business never go here!!

  • Clodia Mandes

Want to get inspired? This is one of the nicest place to get inspiration of how a real fish lover should accommodate their and their fishpets space. The variety of shapes, materials and accessories its top of the line and can always get advise and estimates. Highly recommended!

  • Kyle Nagle

An hour drive only to find a sign on the door saying closed today for “team training”. No social media or website postings giving a heads up about this. Local brick and mortar stores don’t need to complain about online retail hurting their businesses. They do it to themselves.

  • Mick Adler

Terrible fish store! They make you wait to go in to limit people inside, but I still have to chase them down for help with few people inside. Fish are sick. They will get the rest of your fish sick. I bought 5 guppies who then killed twice as many of my own

  • P3L0NAZ0

I used to really like this place. They haven't had the best customer service the last two times I've been tho. I guess bothered them by wanting more than one fish out of more than one tank. I did like their prices, but it's worth it to pay more for service. i won't be back

  • Diego Roman

So disappointed that the Actual Aquarium Boutique got bought out by Fish Gallery this was one of my top favorite fish stores. You guys always had different fish and stuff every time not even mentioning y’all’s prices, I’m very sad you guys are gone. …

  • Edward P.

This store great! They have great customer service and they truly care for their fish!! I just set up a new 125g marine tank and all of the workers have been instrumental in helping me cycle and stock the tank with the right fish! I recommend this store 100%

  • Adam “Squared” Adams

I've been going there for a few months now. Always a good conversation and lots to look at. They have been very helpful in getting started with my freshwater tank, and lately my planted tank. And if you want reefs? This is the place to go.

  • Pete Tormey

As always they are very professional and honest. I but from them regularly and they are very helpful. On top of that their prices are great. If your a saltwater enthusiast there's no where in dfw you can buy pre mixed salt for their price.

  • Laura M

id recommend this store for anyone that has a tank or is starting one. the staff helped tremendously and seemed more knowledgeable/honest than the "usual" stores. well worth the visit! this store will now be my go to for our tank needs.

  • Carlos Lopez

This store is awesome the people are very helpful and if there is an issue you can bet they will take care of it I been getting livestock for my saltwater tank and it's been great so far recommend this place for your fishy needs

  • chris lowrance

Very knowledgeable.... friendly..... huge selection.... bought 3 shrimp (1 blue velvet and 2 black carbon) and they made the drive back to Tyler and are doing great in their new home. I will definitely be back! Thanks!

  • Chris Henderson

John is amazing. He helped me assess what was going with my oscar and set a plan. Within 3 weeks my fish pupp was back to his normal self. Thank you John for all of the tests and consoleing me through this process.

  • John Fair

- Customer service was good. - Prices were good. - We tried to buy three different fish and they all had Fluke . Upon further inspection all the saltwater tanks had Flukes and they were not able to sell any fish.

  • Axel Andrade

Great store, even better prices for fresh, and salt water fish. The Corals have good prices, if you are looking to start with frags you are going to find beautiful corals even the big corals have good prices.

  • Taylor Touma

Ultimately an amazing fish store, employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. if you need healthy fish, this is the place to go. In my opinion, better than Dallas North Aquarium.

  • Teri Barnhill-Martinez

Very knowledgeable about saltwater aquariums. Purchased saltwater from here and ph Balancer. My saltwater aquarium is looking much better now. Will be back to purchase more fish

  • Chad Hildebrand

Decent prices just not a large selection of saltwater fish. What is there they wont sell . Corals the same way. I'm told they live there and owner says not for sale

  • Steve C

Under new owners. Beautifully redone in the ladt couple months (they told me it reopened in Sept. 2023). I look forward to returning next time I'm in town.

  • Amina H

We bought a powder blue tang from them and doing very good !! I love their customer service, and the price was good we'll definitely come back ! …

  • John “J.L.” Scott

Manager and employees are very helpful and friendly. I throughly enjoyed my visit, and the great deal I received on the 55 gallon tank and stand.

  • Tim C

Closed 7/29, drove all the way up from Waxahachie. Please update your fb page and Google page if closing for a day. That would help customers.

  • Peter Weaver

Great shop for salt & freshwater fish and better pricing than most other Dallas area stores. Employee’s are friendly and very knowledgeable.

  • Shawn Ludgate

Best non box store aquarium shop around! Prices are super reasonable, selection is top notch and always go here for my feeder fish / shrimp!

  • Lindsay Middleton

If I could give 0 stars I would. The place is disgusting, the manager is rude and the fish are sick. Will never buy from here again.

  • Devon Ellis

Great staff. Very helpful. I'll be back for sure. 2nd visit even better. Thanks mo for the advice.
