Racial profiling! Such a shame in the 21st-century we still have to deal with modern day racism but you would think your local supermarket would be a safe place for your shop. Around a year ago, I see they had an increase in security within the store which you would think would be no problem, but actually the “security guards” are the problem. I put that in quotations because what are they actually guarding if they are harassing their customers ?!? The last few times I have walked into this franchise I have been looked up and down and followed repeatedly around the store. I didn’t get a chance to glance at the security guards name tag, but he had a dreads and the other one had a hat . The first time one of the “guards” young man asked me for my cell phone number flirting with me. I didn’t take it to kind as I was with my three year old daughter now flashback to last week I walk in there by myself, and I feel eyes on me. Me and my family have been going to this Foodtown for years since I was a child. We pretty much know a lot of the staff there as well. To finish my story, he was in and out of the isles of every aisle I was in, and even when I was at check out, this man ( guard ) was staring me down. I told the cashier that was checking my groceries out and she said I’m sorry… It’s also a shame as a loyal customer that spends hundreds of dollars at this place monthly. They really need to do a better job and me and my family will probably be shopping at Foodway which is in the Georgetown shopping mall not too far from here which also has warm and welcoming staff, and not to mention the fresh … everything thing else

I have been shopping here for over 10 years. The prices are OK. I stopped going some years ago, when I saw a mouse in the aisle. The manager, Hector assured me that it would be taken care of. I believed him, when I returned he greeted me and he is always very helpful and polite. However, The manager by the name of Tony, needs extensive customer service training. His demeanor is always unprofessional and unapproachable. I have even asked several cashiers what are the thoughts of the management there, his name always comes up as someone they do not appreciate. I work in the customer service field, I strongly believe at all times a manager should be supportive of their staff even when they have to give stern instructions. Whenever he is in the store, I avoid him. I go look for any other manager who can respond to any questions I may have. In, addition this store is in serious need of a makeover. Especially since some new competition has moved into the neighborhood. It needs to be renovated and brought up to date with shoppers' needs, such as new registers, self check out and an extended line of groceries (vegan, gluten free). I hope this has been helpful. Have a great day.

As a customer that has been shopping at food town for many years I'm finding it hsrf to believe the lack of customer Service and I have seen some of the workers come and go and I'm very familiar with the industry....most of the stock guy's are very nice and pleasant but I must say the cashiers are horrible!!! Which is totally unacceptable I was very disappointed last night with cashier on register #6 and as the manager tried to remedy the situation as I was leaving the store with my daughter she was still looking at me laughing as if she was making a joke out of the situation this must stop train your workers as to how to deal with the public / people or get rid of them...As a consumer I will not accept or tolerate this type of behavior unfortunate I didn't get her name but the time was around 8:00pm and I did report her to the MOD and I won't stop their if I ever receive that type of treatment again.,

I bought 2 rainbow trouts prepackaged from the seafood section and when I got home to cook them (a 4 minute walk away) they were rotten. I bought turkey bacon on another occasion which was slimy when I opened the package. I love the hours because they accommodate everyone. However, I would stay away from the fresh seafood and prepackaged meats because they are not kept fresh at all. I am a trained chef so I know my stuff. It’s just sad that you pay your money only to be disappointed later. The next time I go I’ll be sure to check out what their rating is from the health department in regards to the deli and prepared foods section. If you want better options there’s a fairway only a few minutes away and they stay open late as well. My overall advice for Foodtown on Ralph avenue in Brooklyn is, BUY WITH CAUTION!

  • Mike Bolus

Before Fairway opened two blocks away, Foodtown held the monopoly on nearby supermarkets. When they lost the battle it seems like they simply gave up. There is a young guy that works in the deli. He is the least friendly worker I've encountered there. It's apparent he dislikes working there and has been that way for as long as I can remember. Most often then not, there are boxes of goods that need to stocked on shelves but are left in the isles, which make them congested. At times their prices pretty good for certain items only, otherwise Fairway beats them. As a whole I feel as if the people that work there dislike their jobs, they have very little energy and there's no appeal to shop there. I would like to support this store more, but they make it difficult.

  • louis f

THIS STORE IS OK. HOWEVER I ONLY COME HERE WHEN DONNA IS IN THE DELI. NOT ONLY IS SHE KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT ALL THE PRODUCTS SHE IS VERY COURTEOUS. SHE TOOK HER TIME SHE MADE EXCELLENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WHAT TO TRY. SHE ENSURE THAT EVERYTHING IS FRESH WHICH WAS reassuring. I have sent many people to the DELI there. SHE ALSO MAKES THE BEST SANDWICHES. She always has a smile. My girls love her she's very friendly to the kids. She asking questions and gets to know us. She's very quick and Professional. Gives us that family vibe. THANK YOU DONNA. Your manager is lucky to have youuuuu. Also the DELI looks very clean when she is there. I've been there during the day once in the last month. The dark skin guy I think Charlie' was not the best.

I came to this supermarket as an item that I frequently use was on sale. It is located a bit further from my home but I read that they had delivery. When I got there and completed my purchase the manager informed me that delivery had ended for the day. When he saw my disappointment (it was FREEZING outside) he then asked how far I do I live. I was VERY impressed that he then called a cab for me and took care of making sure that I was able to get home with my items. For a manager to ensure customer satisfaction to that degree was truly heartwarming. Now that I have been informed of the standard delivery hours, I will make this my new place to shop. The Managers act of kindness has left me as a very satisfied customer.

  • Noreen K

Long checkout wait time and few cashiers. It's usually 2 cashiers each with along line of people, meanwhile manager is stocking shelves whole in plain view of this. Please check your dates, I have had to bring a lit of different items that I went to purchase to the front and had to go to another store. Most of the employees are extremely pleasant and helpful, except for one front manager who always has a scowl on their face and seems to be bothered if you ask a question. I was shopping here for a while because it's close and convenient, especially with a newborn and 2 other children, but after the last conversation I had with said manager, I am not going back and will travel to either Fairway or Key Food.

  • Lisa Coleman

I have always liked Foodtown supermarket. Recently I have not been too pleased. Their produce has not been as good as years before. I would have given them 4 stars yet the new bring your own bag or purchase bags is an issue. In other grocery stores the cashier packs your bags or the bags you purchase. Foodtown only packs the bags if you buy them. That means if you purchase a lot of groceries you are left to pack your own bags. The cashier doesn't wait to ring up the next order. The next customer's groceries are right there with yours and there is no "social distancing" and everyone is annoyed. Foodtown, why don't you have assistance with bagging? My frequent visits will now be infrequent.

  • Black E. Blackerton

Some, not all, but some of the cashiers need to realize, that there is a line (it gets long for the reason I am about to put), and shoppers don't have all day. STOP YAPPING, about hood things outside work, while your register is empty, which keeps you too busy, from calling over the next person, to keep things moving. This use to be Keyfood up the road from this place, horrible service before COVID-19, but after COVID-19, Keyfood knows how to keep their line moving now. It took a pandemic for them to get it right, so I go there frequently now.

  • Denise Gordon

A most convenient food store for all your kitchen’s needs if you’ve never been you should stop in there’s free parking and a huge variety of foods, fruits and beverages for your nutritional needs. There’s a pastry/bakery section in the first aisle just after the fruits and vegetables.... lots of frozen foods if that’s your thing... not to mention an assortment of Caribbean foods and condiments. One stop shop for your toiletries cleaning supplies and even your pet’s needs. You will not be disappointed.

  • Journey Soul

The supermarket is oh k it could be better. They need new management staff is always short, whether it's a week day or weekend. Especially since this pandemic it's even worse. If & when I do go I forget how long the lines are & the wait even if you only have a few items. Staff is nice but the organization in that supermarket needs improvement. Sometimes they is a bad odor in the store meat or fish not good. All other supermarket have a good working system by now this supermarket does not.

  • Carline Lamour-Occean

My shopping experience was beyond horrible , cashier 104 Paula is very rude and unprofessional. How do you have an animal like that working with customers? She got very angry because i told her i wanted to redeemed my gift certificate instead of paying cash. She was screaming, using profanity and pointing her fingers toward my face. Of course the night manager was just standing watching the entire scene. I will definitely report this to the corporate office. 3/27/16 18:16:12.

  • Nadeíge

Overly priced groceries and never any good sales. They had a 24 pack of Nestle bottled water for $7.49, I have never seen the price this high any where else even when it was not on sale, usually around $5 the most ( I found a better price at a different grocery store 4 packs for $10 for the same water!!)..To get the sale price for most items you must have collected "points" on your card which I find ridiculous . Better sales/deals at other grocery stores near by .

  • bizzy izzy

Large selection of seafood meat bakery etc. HOWEVER the lines are long. All the selection in the world isnt worth anything when it rakes 20 min to go thru the line. Saturday morning and there are 2 cashiers open??? the line is over 15 people long. So now that covid is over the lines are normal. Also i came in with my 3 year old and the lady by customer service gave my son a juice a cookie and a bag of chips. So i now award you 4 stars 37 CENTS FOR A BAG

  • Chris Rich

If you're a frequent shopper, you become eligible for store discounts. All you have to do is sign up. They give you a credit card styled card and two key chain cards when becoming a member. Also, say you forgot or you missed place all three of those cards, you can still use your phone number as a registered card at the cashier's line. I haven't held a card in years and my points/ discounts still register, I just use my number.

  • Kadine Smith

Do not go to this store id you have a stroller or a walker or a wheelchair. Make sure to check pasteies thoroughly and if you need baby formula, it won't be on the shelf. You will need to find someone to get it from a secret location. And you are lucky if the day you go and need something from the Customer Service counter, someone is actually there. Definitely in my top ten worse stores.

  • Theresa Wortham

Lines were too long. Not enough cashier s available for the large clientele.Great selections. Found everything on my list. Couldn't push my grocery cart to my car. Luckily I was parked close. Homeless guy was eyeing my purchases like he wanted to swipe them as I pulled my car close to the entrance. Recommend that you take someone with you to guard your groceries while you get the car.

Overall: Good selection of fresh food and polite staff. It is a clean supermarket. My only critiques are: wish they have more Latino food products, more shopping carts And a change of music. Everytime I enter I hear "baby making" type of older R & B music. It's kinda numerous at times, but not very professional or neutral. Simple jazz or classical would be highly appreciated.

  • Cindy Cherry

This place is to expensive Nissan cup of soup cost $1.19 banquet chicken pot pie $2.39 go to family dollar and get these items for $1.00 a ham and cheese hero is 9.99 go to the coner store the sandwich cost $6 0r $7 won't be shopping there to pricey and thats just minor stuff. I think all supermarkets should be inspected for over pricing especially foodtowm

  • J soul

Foodtown is convenient and always kept clean. Haven't interacted alot with the staff here but I haven't run into any rude or disrespectful employees on my visits. The produce is always kept fresh and looks great. Which is big as this isn't the norm when I walk into supermarkets. Stays open late which is a major plus since I usually get out of work late.

  • minerva plasencia

They need an express line. Why should you have to make a line with 20 people with full carts and you have one or two items. Makes no sence. The lady told me we have an express line but you have to make the line until you reach I said that's not an express line. That's waiting my turn making this long line with everyone with full carts.

  • Michael Lee

It is a very nice supermarket. The selection is good and the people are nice and professional. It doesn't get a 5 star because it is a decades old place and does not carry enough sugar free stuff. Yes you can get a auger free candy and Eddy's ice cream. I knew that age if the shop shouldn't matter but hey we all like shiney and new.

  • K S

I've been to many food towns but this one I didn't care for it. I guess because it was a bit too congested on the day I visited. There was a guy stocking and blocking the isle in the produce section. Bottom line I left because of the congestion, no place to pass freely. Customers unable to get by, not sure if it's always like that.

  • Bailey Logan

They've got a huge selection of different food items at good prices. If you visit, try their red velvet cupcakes which are great. I could eat a whole container of them, honestly. The only minus is the long lines. I have yet to visit and be able to get one or two things and get out because the lines are sometimes frustratingly long.

  • Sha Greene

I have been eating more of a plant based diet and have been trying to find fun meat and dairy substitutes. This store was difficult to find things in. Like rice...I saw it once, but couldn't find it again. Signage was not helpful. Loss prevention seemed to be following me because I had my own bag. Stick to ShopRite and FairMarket.

  • Kay Johnson

I having been shopping at this location for over 20 years. The fruits and veggies are fresh. There are organic products including grass feed beef and Murray's organic poultry. In addition the butcher department is excellent upon request they will cut to size your meats, remove skins if desired. Tony and Hector are great managers!

  • Sean Greenwood

Very very unprofessional, I really hope they get a new manager. I gave one star because the potential is there. But trust me they lack professionalism. If you're a customer who doesn't care about professionalism, by all means you will be fine. However, if you care about that sort of stuff, I recommend you find another store.

  • Agnes Paul

A bit pricey but i can find exactly what i need. The weekly sales are great and always in stock. I go there 4 times or more a week. The workers are very helpful especially the young african American lady, who is always on the floor restocking and asking if you need help. That's good customer service.

  • diana rahmaan

Three years and 1 pandemic later...Foodtown has gone down. Some items are no longer available, restocking of shelves is very slow, and surprisingly, I never see the managers anymore. I try to be loyal for local shopping, but I find myself going to other local markets for one stop shopping.

  • SpyStitch

It's the supermarket that I usually go to. The prices are reasonable, the store is clean. They have store made rotisserie chicken which are very good. The produce section seems to have gone downhill lately. Getting fresh lettuce is more difficult, but the package options are available.

  • Marilou Abruscato

Right now masks are required to shop in store but the aisles are pretty small and you have to be very aware of other people to social distance. Other than that this place carries all the groceries i need to get through normal eating in a week for my family and it it now well stocked.

  • Gabrielle

I really don't shop at "grocery stores" too often, prefer to go to wholesale clubs. I usually come to Foodtown to pick up a "few" items. But I must give a compliment to the Security Guard "Mo"! Always very pleasant and extremely courteous. Kudos to you "Mo"! Keep up the great work!

  • Kimberly-Ann Brady

My major issue with this place is the service is so slow. The lines are always so long. They really got to do better especially when they have so many associates. It baffling how inefficient the service is. I should have taken a picture so you can see the enormity of the situation.

  • Nikia Miller

The most unprofessional and rude manager works there. I refuse to spend my money where I’m not respected. They also are very unorganized and more expensive than other grocery stores. Save yourself the time and energy and shop elsewhere where you can get better customer service

  • Kea C.

It’s ok I went today to get some cold cuts and the black guy who is currently there had white stuff on his hands. He just put on gloves without washing it, continued to cut my meat. Hopefully I don’t get sick, I always see them wash their hands before putting on the gloves.

  • Stara A

Cashier had an attitude and the so called manager named “MANNY “ has a disgusting attitude with zero customer service! He talks to customers very undermining. I don’t know how he is made a “manager “ if he lacks the basic sense of kindness and customer service! Smh......

  • Dwayne

Had a wide variety of products, prices were reasonable and check-out time was pretty decent being the store was very busy with customers. Would recommend if you are in the area and looking for items you would find at big brand stores but not at the big store prices.

  • Laverne Cumberbatch

Wanted to buy some fish. Walked into the store and was totally surprised. 90% of the sale items requires the store card. So I decided to sign up. Did not have to wait for next visit. Received the savings when I handed the associate my application. Very satisfied.

  • Deborah Oden

Surprised 2 find that store is still up 2 par N, they still distribute, or adhere 2 S&H green stamps, (what a throwback 2 earlier,(younger), yrs, GREAT!!! But, seriously, store is n step, updated, fluent with meats, fish, n all goodies. Pleasure 2 c n visit.

  • Michael Goodheart

I like this store most of the employees are nice and a few exceptionally nice. It is a stop on my way home. Pricing a bit high but if you know what you are buying and compare and show the other local grocery stores nearby you can find acceptable values.

  • Brooke Lynne

Prices are high. Has always been high even before the pandemic. They are higher than the Shoprite at Gateway Center and I frequent Shoprite. Also thier bags are 25 cents PLUS tax. 2 bags are 54 cents. Make it make "cents" << see what I did there …

  • STACEY L.

This Foodtown is in a very convenient area and they have a good variety of things. The only issue that I have is that their meat section isn't as full/packed as other grocery stores, and their prices are a bit higher than others. Overall, it's good!

  • kirstie aurelien

great because they’re open late and have lots of things that other stores don’t have. not so great because everything is ridiculously expensive and they want u to sign up for a store card so bad they hide prices from you. extremely annoying

  • emile brammer

The cashiers here are not nice and nobody wants to assist you when you need something. The store needs a good cleaning and management needs to be trained and more accessible to every customer instead of them staying upstairs in that office

  • Danielle Garafola

So I have mixed feelings about this store. The workers are very nice and helpful but the store itself needs better care. More than once I bought things that were expired and now I know to check and I'm always finding expired food and now

  • PAUL LEVINE

It's a great place to shop on fortunately the manager makes false promises when he told me would you like to get something on the shelf and they don't have it in the store and he tells you you ever order it but never gets on the Shelf

  • Philip Zalon

This spot was a Waldbaum’s for many years, many years ago. When Waldbaum’s went out, the shopping center suffered with the empty space for years. Foodtown saved the place. Unfortunately the store has not really changed much over the

  • Nancy Rotella

I've been shopping at this store for years. Most of the workers are pleasant. Good sales. Clean store. In addition, the manager's in this store work very hard making sure shelves are stocked. They are also very helpful and pleasant.

  • Da'man Nats

Although it's one of the few supermarkets left in this area as others have closed. I wouldn't shop here...I have in the past. over the last 10 years this place has gone to the dogs. if there was a way to use minus stars I would!!

  • Daishauna Peterkin

The line was pretty long but I got through quickly because I didn’t have any items. The cashier was very sweet and the store has a huge variety of items overall. Found something and I’m very excited, definitely visiting again.

  • Kimberly Brady

Food town used to be a great place for me to shop for groceries. The lines are so long. They need to come up with a better strategy on the line situation. Its very frustrating spending more than half hour to ring up your items.

  • ggfgjtuy ortiz

Horrible here they put the minimum amount of cashiers in off peak hours creating long lines when you have only 2 or 3 items. No need for this!!!They pull this garbage because it’s patrons are Black it’s highly disrespectful

  • N N

Very pleasurable staff members. The managers are always present and go above and beyond. Awesome and fresh seafood, fresher than most seafood markets. Always stocked shelves, clean isles, and great selection of products.

  • Sylvon

Great first experience, great prices. The night manager jereze was super polite and helpful. He seems to genuinely care about healthy eating and because of that he stocks the store with the right products …

  • Roza Faith

I like it cause it's very convenient to me, and I always get what I need. I love the organic chicken they have , all of these natural meet I like they have them. The staff are not too bad.

  • Phil R

Not a fancy place, but they carry stuff you might not find at other area supermarkets. Open late, so you can avoid the longer lines that are there earlier in the day. Competitive pricing.

  • Liz

Mostly Caribbean food choices, not a big selection of other types of foods. But the place is well-stocked, well-refrigerated, carries the basics, and the staff is reasonably friendly.

  • Caleb Drapeau

During this inflation all the supermarkets has increased their prices, however this supermarket not as high as others. You can find everything you need at a nice price.

  • Ricky B

Great produce and good quality fresh meat selection. Clean inside and always abundance of parking. Lines can get a bit long otherwise it's a great go to supermarket.

  • Hdhsbsh Gdb S

Too expensive but if first time u can get the card of their to lessen the price but after u have to buy their card. 1.89 for pasta bought at shop right for 88 cents.

  • Roro Boogie

Pretty good, finally shopped here and the prices are decent. They had a lot of the stuff I wanted. It was a spur of the moment thing. Next time I will bring my list

  • Wayne Jason Gilbert

Great place to shop. The deli department has everything you'll need. Good people and clean environment. Cashiers are super friendly and the prices are competitive.

  • Martin Manuel

Good place to shop. Friendly staff. Very reasonable prices and the sales specials are great. Their members point system is very rewarding.

  • Gail Meadows

Always good experience! Store could just use self checkout lane because there's always a line, but they normally get customers out timely.

  • Athenia Rodney

Cashier was clear in making sure I knew her line was open but when I asked her questions she very low and didn't engage very well.

  • Nikea Coleman

The security guard follow you everywhere making me feel uncomfortable to shop. I also had chicken that was grey and spoiled!!!

  • blac jesusYT

Most of the items in there are a little bit pricey and need points to get them for the actual price, but there's on-site

  • Jessica Contreras

I seen a HUGE rat in the back by the water. Besides that employees r nice. Food is expensive like anywhere else.
