Looking for geeky merchandise in the heart of Leeds? Then look no further than Forbidden Planet! Although it may seem like Forbidden Planet stores should be exactly the same in what they stock, in reality there is a ton of variation from store to store, not least because of size and layout. This store is totally different to where it used to be years back in Leeds, as the old location was much smaller and so offered far less in way of merchandise p. There’s a good smattering of sci-fi and movie memorabilia on the ground floor, mixed in with some pop culture products and a sprinkle of anime/manga stuff. Heading down into the basement you’ll find tons more, especially when it comes to manga and other Japanese pop culture products. Though Leeds is a student city with two universities’ worth of youngsters to be buying geeky stuff, it’s never seemed overcrowded in this Forbidden Planet, which is nice given how cramped some shops can get. This also means it has a light and airy feel, so you can easily peruse the wares on offer.

Visited the shop just after new year looking for a birthday present for a family member. The store is immaculately clean and tidy and is very easy to wander around and browse what's on offer. The selection of products is very impressive surpassed only by the number of comics on offer in the lower floor. My kids and I had a blast wandering around and looking at things, the staff where very friendly and knowledgeable when we asked them questions but we're happy to leave us to browse until we needed them (which I was very happy about, I don't like to be hassled when I first walk into a shop) would highly recommend a visit to see what kind of awesome they have in stock!

Terrible experience. the staff were too busy talking to themselves about ‘cultural appropriation in comics’ and speaking of their regular customers in a disrespectful way ( basically judging what they were ordering) the person I was with asked a question after waiting for them to finish their elitist snobby chat and was made to feel as though they had interrupted and were not welcome. I’d avoid this place if you love comics. I wouldn’t give them any of my money and the staff would be wise to be more respectful towards their own customers and not openly speak ill of the people who keep them in business.

Went in here looking for something in particular for our son. It was a pretty niche item, so honestly wasn't expecting to find it. The store is full of lots of unusual merchandise, but we couldn't find what we were looking for. So we made the mistake of asking one of the staff members. She couldn't have been less interested, and was more concerned with chatting with her friends. Clearly my wife and I aren't the sort of customers this store is looking for. It's a shame, as the store does have a lot of unique things, and I would have given a higher rating had it not been for the sales assistant.

I'm rating this as someone who went looking for RPG paraphernalia. If you want manga or comics, then this is the place for you, as it has an extensive range downstairs. It has a small RPG area, which took 4 of us a while to locate, and a poorly organised first floor. Neat, but expensive, dice selection. Also, a few random and expensive D&D branded goods (a mug and breakfast bowl combo, and glass and decanter set) but very few games books so won't be visiting here again. The Birmingham store is much better organised and presented.

I love this place. I stop in every time I'm in Leeds. The workers are always so cool looking with brightly colored hair, and always have a smile on their face. I love seeing all the new products they bring in, and also the things on sale, there's always a deal I can find. Downstairs is tons of comics and manga, so much to read, so little time! They have all sorts of geeky things that can't be found easily so I love it and makes me feel like I fit in. Check out my cute Anubis plush who came with his own bag!

  • Sam Naylor

Very cool Mine and my girlfriends favourite shop to visit when ever we go to town. They have a massive selection of nerdy stuff available. The staff have always seemed very nice and the shop always looks good. Never looks low on stock. The quality of the one piece figures we bought in there were amazing and the giant selection of manga and comics are also amazing. It's easy to stumble on things you never knew before while browsing this store which you may end up loving.

Lovely shop but really poor customer service I came in last week Lovely shop came back again. because I'd seen a loungefly bag I really liked asked the woman how much it was her reponse was just oh it's around 80 pounds. I'd brought it but she didn't go out of her way to ask if I wanted it or to look at it so I've ordered from somewhere else now. I felt really uncomfortable when I asked. Just really disappointing

so far, the best place to go for mangas.. so many selections. you can find almost all good manga titles in here and some ghibli's stuff. im just a bit sad coz when i finally found the manga ive been searchin for, they are not complete.. this place also offers marvels and dc comics, star wars, stranger things, some witchcraft stuff, but nit sure about board games.. nevertheless, i will recommend this shop!

  • Kristian Parry

Truly an amazing place. Everytime I get paid I go straight here. Just love it in there. There are great products for everyone and the staff are so cool and helpful. Every visit brightens my day and I would definitely recommend. The only thing is they don't have much doctor who stuff (well it did go downhill since David Tennant left) but I won't drop them a star off for that. Overall a brilliant place to shop :)

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Luke from Forbidden Planet Leeds for this mail order. I've brought a couple of times before online with them. He help me get a artist series captain marvel! They had 5 left and he even let me chose which one. Better still he packed it himself and posted the same day. Arrived in mint condition with excellent packaging. Very happy and will defo be buying again. Cheers

  • M Daynes

It's such an amazing shop, I can't believe i never knew about it. We passed it, and my son wanted to go look in because he is into his comics and horror. I could have spent a fortune in here on both of us Good quality items and the staff were so friendly. I'm going back next week to get him some stiff for Xmas. If you love comics and horror stuff make sure you check this little gem out .

  • Charlie Blackmore

Have occasional shopped here to see the various stock they have. They have great amounts of products things I wouldn't even think to look for !!! I've had great experiences with till my previous two experiences where staff have not been as friendly as they have in the past. This may have been due to them being busy but it has definitely made me consider other shops as an alternative.

  • Sophie Newell

This location has a good amount of stock. Unfortunately they aren’t very helpful with ordering items like other stores of the same nature. It would also be good if the website allowed in store pickup. If you do choose to order online as delivery it’s expensive as delivery is per item. Would make it an excellent experience if the store and website could work together in this regard.

  • Sam White

I always love going to a forbidden planet because there's always something to buy, usually something I didn't even know I needed. The staff are always fantastic and they have a great selection of goods like most of their other stores but less of the elaborate figurines and movie style props/merch. Could also benefit from having some more clothing to purchase like tees and hoodies.

  • Ryn Connar

I feel saddened to give this review on a shop I use to love to visit. On too many occasions to count, I have seen items marked with various prices. Figures have expensive full price at the front, and then a lower or even sale price hidden behind it. Stock has changed to reduce selection in one area to market towards another, reducing quality and selection.

  • Ben Griffiths

Overall great store with plenty of fantastic stock to choose from. I go pretty regularly! The only things letting it down is the odour in the store and the staff! I find a couple of them to be rude and above themselves. I've asked politely about new releases, mainly for my little boy and they either don't know or act like they're too good for customers.

  • S M

Great place to visit for fans of all that is nerdy. They have fantastic staff, always happy to chat, and they throw a good amount of events to keep things entertaining. The store layout is nice, focusing on books below and memorabilia above, though I wish there was less of a focus on pop figures, as I'm sure there's cooler stuff to have in their place!

  • Alice H

I love this shop it's my favourite Forbidden Planet I've been to and I love picking up a bargain funko when they have sales on. They have an upstairs and downstairs, upstairs is lots of merch, figures, posters, funkos, everything you could ask for and downstairs is novels and mangas I definitely recommend going here if you visit Leeds.

  • Kimberley Tosney

I contacted them whilst in lockdown regarding some items, the sent me pictures the same day, payment was easy made via PayPal, within an hour and half of paying, items were posted and a tracking number supplied.. extremely happy with my order and the staff and will definitely use this service again. Highly recommend

  • Jamie McGhee

Great place to visit..can get very busy but well worth it. This Funko product is now Vaulted and is no longer produced by Funko. It is therefore unlikely that we will be getting it back in stock. This Austin Powers Pop! Vinyl Figure comes packaged in a window display box and will look epic with any Pop! collection!

  • Igor Smolinski

Amazing selection of merchandise, popvynils, comics, and manga. The staff at this location are very helpful, nice, and knowledgeable. The prices here are standard although less expensive than online, and there is a very profitable 3 for 2 deal on across and on all manga in the downstairs section of the locale.

  • Jim77

Great place to shope for niche "geeky" stuff, I absolutely love it! I managed to get my hands on a Stranger Things mug and sock set which I've been struggling to find elsewhere. My stepson bought a Darth Vader poster which looks cool in his bedroom. Will most definitely visit again when we're next in Leeds.

  • Theme Park Insanity Official

Great staff and very helpful! Also great range of stock as well which is constantly updated weekly! Great shop to visit particularly for Funko Pop! Vinyl figure collectors like myself as they receive the stock well before anyone else on the high street! Good solid effort guys! Keep up the great work!

  • Dong-Yoo Park

Probably one of the best FP's I've been to. Amazing selection of manga, one of the larger collections I've seen. Great sale items. Not only on manga but on figures and merch too. Also free posters were available when we visited. Friendly and helpful staff as always with FP's across the country.

  • Jason Frain

Visited today with my daughter,if you have a child who lives and breathes anime then forbidden planet is perfect for a visit,we were able to browse through the store at our leisure after which we made a purchase and left friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.

  • Emma Gibbon

Staff always seem very slow and only ever serve on one of the two tills even when there's a big queue which I can't understand but the shop itself is great. Could do with a better place to queue but layout is limited. Always full of new and interesting items and a large range of manga.

  • Sanjey Kumaravel

Extremely nice and polite staff. I live in London but they were kind enough to post some manga to me. They were very helpful. If they reply to messages late, please bear in mind that they have only 1 or 2 people manning their social media accounts. Highly recommend this store!

  • Gaming Hub UK

Great store for popculture and anime related merchandise enthusiasts. Would recommend anime fans especially to visit this place as it has great collection of original Statues of various characters from different animes such as Dragon ball and One piece and Mangas of many more

  • brsurvivor1

I enjoy visiting the shop every time I come to Leeds. The selection is brilliant (especially when the place I love doesn't have a comic shop. The only problem was when I was being served, the cashier was more interested in his friend at the counter than dealing with me.

  • Patrick Hollingworth

This shop has lots of pop memorabilia, from TV shows, cartoons, plush, Asian memorabilia pillows and music, downstairs in the basement it has a library full of comics and manga books and helpful staff that will help you find something if they don't have it in store.

  • Lauren Laland

I love it here, bought things both visits I had on my trip away. Loads of Pops, if you’re a collector, definitely go here. Lots of horror, Disney (especially stitch & villains), loungeflys, Harry Potter, nightmare before Christmas. It’s geeks paradise

  • James Hailstone

Possibly the greatest shop to exist in the UK... ♥️ if ever I'm within 20 miles of Leeds I plan it into my trip to visit. Absolutely love the place, great prices, great staff, lots of US exclusive stuff. Wish there were more of this store!

  • Tonks Moriarty (ZNickel)

An invaluable shop & where I have purchased the majority of my manga collection. The staff all have their own niches & it has a welcoming feel. If they were still at their old place they would've got a star knocked off as it was crammed,

  • Addison

There was a Very large and good selection of Manga there, I didn't really check out the rest of the store as I just went downstairs but it's a Decent shop for the Size of it and the Staff were Very good. Very Much a Recommend if you like

  • Ben Mck

  • Mick Booth

The staff were so helpful in choosing age appropriate comics for our son's party. They went out of their way and we saw them do the same for a school party too. Excellent customer service is obviously the order of the day for this shop!

  • finny green

A nice place to visit to browse through range of nerdy stuffs. Ground floor mainly displays western comics and funkopops and pop cultures. Basement floor is mostly all about anime related mechanise and a bit of marvel and dc comics.

  • Steve m Smith

For someone that is in to your sci-fi, and international toys, books, games and nic nac, There's a variety of items from so many different genre, May be oon the expensive side but that's what you get with such varied items!

  • Rebecka .Wade

Great place for anime lovers or comic book nerds! The downstairs is filled with manga and figures and cool stuff from demon slayer, hatsune miku to one piece! Definitely recommend anyone who is a fan of anime to go

  • K C

Well stocked with all sorts of pop-culture gubbins to fill shelves in your home with. My only gripe is that I wish the offerings of nintendo goods (Zelda and Pikmin) was larger. But that's a personal preference.

  • Jack Firth

This store has everything from anime to Doctor who. Nicely priced, loverly staff, great place from people want their first figures, comics and manga. Collectors will find something to buy each time they visit

  • Ben Varlow (NumeralOrchid36)

  • Molly Pinder

Fab, geeky store in the centre of Leeds. The staff are super helpful and friendly, and the products are awesome and perfect for any geek, especially the comic book section downstairs. Love this place!

  • Thomas Howell

My eldest & I love this place, but it doesn't objectively know what to do and comes across a bit like a library; fine if you need to find something, could be better if you want folks to buy something.

  • Sam_e

There's nothing not to love about this place, they have pretty much anything you could want. Staff are always lovely and friendly and the prices are great. I'd recommend a visit while you're in town!

There is so much to see here over this two level store. They did not have the volume we were looking for and the staff seem a little non challant, but really well stocked, would go back there.

  • Darren Dodd

Always get my son a load of stuff for Christmas from here. When I used to go to Forbidden Planet in the late 90s it was full of intimidating nerds and smelt of BO. Thats not the case any more.

  • Neil ien

Always something to look at. Personally I like the horror items, but that range is tiny compared to the more popular items.. which I expect, it just means I buy less in here than I do online.
