AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ALL COSTS! On September 5, 2022, my family and I placed orders for three combination plates, a Crab Rangoon order, an order of egg drop soup, an additional order of fried noodles, and six egg rolls. When we got home, we discovered the egg rolls were missing, the rice was undercooked, and the shrimp was also undercooked. We called right away and went back to the restaurant to ask about the food. Even though the business closed at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, no one was there when we arrived at 9:23 p.m. On September 6, 2022, we contacted and spoke with the manager (a gentleman with no given name), who said that undercooked rice was typical and that no refund could be given, but that we could still get the six egg rolls. When we complained about the undercooked rice and shrimp that came with the missing food, we were told that the only thing that could be done was to replace the egg rolls. When we asked to speak with the owner, we were told that he was out of the building and that he would not be returning. We have spent thousands of dollars at this restaurant over the years, and we have told others that it serves the best Chinese food. Following this incident, I strongly suggest all customers, friends, and family to AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT! They don't value their patrons' loyalty. Nobody wants to spend money on a subpar service. Legal actions are next because we are on the way to the hospital!

One of the best places to eat, I eat here almost everyday. Good professional service. While reading the reviews, I remember the incident of the recent reviewer by Hailey Sumpter. I was there and I can say for certain, none of that happened. SHE was being irate and cursing everyone out. We were all told that the wait time would be about 45 minutes due to being a holiday. We were all patient except for Hailey Sumpter. She WAS refunded and she was STILL irate. She told me to shut my mouth when I told her “it’s Christmas, calm down.” She stared calling everyone racial slurs and then called the police trying to get them to side with her. She was loud and rude and ghetto. She threatened the staff and made rude gestures towards the staff. If I worked at this restaurant, I’d sue Hailey Sumpter for Defamation and posting someone’s pictures online without consent. Again, this restaurant is great, love eating here.

Miserable rude workers who ignore you to your face. My days of delivering for you are done. And so glad I only spent my money in there one time. Most of your cashiers are miserable human beings who clearly hate their job and life. ETA: I see other customers have indeed encountered Mr. Baseball cap who is absolutely apathetic to customers and someone else captured on photo, the extremely rude and always with an attitude woman with the slick black hair. It’s a shame when people describe the same scenarios with the same people years apart, Mind you I first encountered them 3 years ago when I first moved to Charlotte. Nothing has changed. And they will forever work in that obscure Chinese fast food shop as long as they behave that way. Well that’s if they don’t put it out of business because no amount of fake reviews will make a 3 point something rating not seem suspicious.

I am a frequent customer at Fortune Cookie. I go at least 2-3 x a month. Never had a problem with my orders. I love the food. BRANDON who said today 11/22/22 is the manager is the most nasty and disrespectful worker I have EVER encounter at Fortune Cookie. Today he was rude and said he will NOT give a credit when there was a misunderstanding over the order. In the past I was able to get a credit or accomodations. Today Brandon was very nasty and very unprofessional. That is bad business. Brandon does not need to be in the store front working the counter with that type of nasty poor customer service. If Brandon continues to work at Fortune Cookie.... Fortune Cookie will loose a lot of business.

As I’m leaving this review I can attest to the fact that the customer service from the manager Brandon is absolutely terrible!! Brandon is rude and has zero cares about how your experience is at the restaurant. I even took the time to tell him how as a young manager how important it is to treat your customers with some sort of dignity and respect. I literally came in from church with a suit on and was treated like trash. I told him that I’d be leaving a review and he was totally unfazed. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT UNLESS YOU’RE OK WITH BE TREATED LIKE A SECOND CLASS INDIVIDUAL. FYI if you’re wondering who the manager Brandon is, it’s the gentleman in the pictures above who where’s his hat backwards. He’s the worst!

I enjoyed the food it was fresh took a little too long as I ate there. Usually I take out and I'm not waiting more than 5 minutes. Good amount I had vegetable fried rice. Staff is nice. They need a drink machine scooping ice out of a bucket is tacky.

I ordered Sesame Bean Curd and it's the worst I've ever had. The curd was near rock hard and very dry. It was so over cooked it was almost inedible. I ate a few pieces because I didn't want to waste it, but this meal will be tossed out in the woods for the mice. At least the fried rice was edible. Very basic. Not a lot of oil but no veggies. Just plain white rice with some brown color to it. I will not order from Fortune Cookie again. Ordered through Door Dash so I can't comment on service or atmosphere.

First, the food is delicious. What you should know is, it's not fancy. Food comes on foam plates, you take your own trash to the can, and get your own drink refills. They do a great job.

Some of the best Chinese I have EVER had - the delivery boxes were absolutely PACKED, flavors were spot on, and the quality was outstanding. Surprisingly, even when our DoorDasher got stuck in traffic for an extra 20 minutes, the food was still so hot that the bottom of the containers burnt my fingertips taking them out of the bag. I ordered the Honey Chicken, and it was far and above the best example I’ve ever tasted. My fiancé got the General Tso’s, and said it was some of the spiciest and best HE’S ever had. Ecstatic to have a new favorite go-to!!

  • M S

Used to be one of our favorites, HORRIBLE Now!!! Fortune Cookie used have have amazing food, but not any more. It has taken a 180 and is the worst Chinese food I’ve had! Gross! Mongolian beef was 80% mushrooms, Cashew chicken literally had 3 cashews in it. Not exaggerating. The fired rice was mediocre at best and that’s being generous. It used to be really good. They must have different cooks, management, or something. I don’t know what happened, we’ll never return. SHAME!

I have loved this place for 5+ years and typically go here at least weekly. The newer staff members lack customer service and there's a complete disregard for covid. No one wearing masks (the last few times I've gone) and worse yet they make you sign the receipt for no apparent reason The food prices have steadily climbed during covid, with no update to the menu prices. The prices for order over the phone are now as high as the delivery apps. Stop passing on the price to folks not using the apps This loyal customer is taking a break. Do better

  • Dan Cooper

This place is terrible. The food sucks! Some dishes are mediocre at best. When George owned the place (when it was Wok Express) it was delicious. He was friendly, knew everyone's name. These new people are the total opposite. Not friendly. Hardly any personality at all. I asked for a to go box. And the lady just pointed to them by the drink machine and said "They're right there." in a rude way. For fried rice they use white rice with some sauce on top. The food tastes like crappy cheap mall food. This place needs it's old owner back.

  • Shantel Rousseve

This by far was one of my most favorite Chinese restaurants until last night. My food was horrible !! My rice was extremely dry and my TSO gen chicken was not good neither it was dry and hardly no sauce was on it. I am lost for words because they had the best Chinese food in Charlotte at one point. Not sure if management have changed since they moved locations but they need to get their act together

The food was good but the service was horrible. If I could give 1 star I would. The girl at the register did not put my order in right after being corrected 4 times. When my food came out I informed her it was wrong and she immediately got an attitude stating “You never said that.” She then proceeded to argue with me about it. I will it be back to this location.

I really can't say much about the service (it seemed to be indifferent, at best), but I do have to comment about the food. Food-wise, it's really just your typical Chinese place, but there is definitely something wrong with the chicken. I have never seen chicken come in such weird shapes and sizes - definitely hard to tell it actually came from a live chicken at one time. Where do they get that stuff from? Just based on that alone, I'm definitely not going back.

  • Teianna Garner

I came to this establishment and when receiving my food I left my wallet. Upon arriving back to receive my wallet I checked and everything was there except my cash. From my own investigation I believe the employees were the culprits. They did not help me in any shape or form, management stated the owner is the “only one” with access to the cameras and they didn’t allow me to speak with the owner, and a police report has been filed and is under investigation…

  • G P

Spent over $50 only to get home & find out the order was made incorrectly, going against dietary needs. When I called the restaurant they read the order back to me just as we had requested, then agreed that is not how they made it but stated they were not wrong. The woman on the phone was extremely rude, continuously arguing with me and taking no ownership of the issue.

I have missed this place since it moved from South Kings, but the food is still awesome, even though I got home and had vegetable fried rice instead of shrimp fried rice. It was too far to go back, but the food was still awesome. Next time, I'll check my order before I leave.

Stopped by to get lunch (dine-in). Ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan lunch specials and it comes with egg roll and fried rice. The moo goo gai pan itself was good and the egg roll is decent. The fried rice tasted like rice mixed with soy sauce and not properly fried nor mixed. Definitely recommend regular steamed/white rice instead. Friendly staff and quick service.

Been here a couple of times in the past couple of weeks. The food is excellent, tons of flavor, fresh vegetable and great chicken. Way better quality then other Chinese restaurants in the area. So far I have tried chicken with garlic sauce, hunan chicken and egg drop soup - all delicious. One of the very few place in Charlotte you can get lunch for under $9.

Late night crew deliveried TERRIBLE takeout meal. The food smelled so bad that we gagged upon smelling it. We had to throw out entire meal. I have never had a worse take out experience in my life. The food honestly smelled so bad, it will be awhile before I can consider ordering any type of Asian take out again. It was really a terrible experience... A manager/owner should review this situation, and general quality at off hour times.

  • Drew1000degrees

Everybody's taste buds are different, unfortunately my buds do not like the food here. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with special rice. The food was hot and looked good, but once I bit into the chicken it was mostly fat and chewy. The rice... ehhh shrimp, chicken and pork sounds good right? Wrong! The rice was tasteless and kind of hard. The positive is the staff, they were nice and the soda, it was cold.

  • Kayla K

The food here is always delicious and hot! I highly recommend the sesame chicken, spicy tangerine chicken, lo mein, and fried rice which are all fantastic. I can’t wait to try some more of there menu items. The chicken is never dried out like other places I’ve been to which is a huge plus. Portions are huge as well. I also really appreciate the covid prevention measures they took in the store.

  • C A

Placed an order with uber eats I usually like going here for quick service. Unfortunately this is my 3rd time getting food here and finding shrimp in my food after putting a note in that there is a selfish allergy. I didn't even get the rest of my order but they sure made sure to put that one shrimp in the bottom on my meal thank gosh i dump it out to look through before I eat it. Ridiculous

  • Fuddie Duddie

The wings were the best I've ever had. Fresh, hot hot hot (temperature, not spice) and meaty. Much better than even a "wing" place. Nice service too, very fast. Edit: I got chicken fried rice too go. I heard it up the next day, and even after 24 hours and a 100 mile trip it was delicious. Crab rangoon was also good. Warning, the Curry Chicken was VERY spicy/hot. Mitch Moore than I'm used to.

  • Jennifer H.

Worst Chinese food. The sauce in the beef and broccoli tasted like gravy and was thick. The plain fried rice is just rice with soy sauce. The french had remnants of broccoli in it for some reason. To add insult to injury, we ordered thru uber eats, so it was also cold. First and last time.

Food is absolutely delicious but customer service definitely needs help. The cashier was rude and dismissing. We ordered our food and it tasted good, so 4 stars for that. Pork fried rice with wings is worth the service. Just know you'll be eating out of styrofoam plates even in house, but we didn't care much. We'll come back for the food for sure. Probably carry out this time.

  • Shyne Ink

So i literally just placed an order probably an hour ago and my wife goes to bite into her chicken and she is met with this. A price tag fried into her wing. Smh. Bit into a crab Rangoon simultaneously and the thing was completely saturated in grease. I’m the process of trying to get a full refund but the fact that they’re even producing food like this is outrageous!

Just ordered from Uber eats. The general style chicken was old and obviously microwaved with a weird smell and it was soggy (couldn’t eat it)The fried rice was just some rice with soy sauce. It smelled bad, we didn’t even eat it. Don’t order from them, they clearly don’t care about the food quality here.

Extremely irritated with this place. I ordered sesame tofu with fried rice on DoorDash and it’s the worst tofu I ever had. The texture of it was stale like it wasn’t fresh and the fried rice looked like white rice with soy sauce drizzled in it. It’s my first and last time ordering from here. NEVER AGAIN.

I recommend using skirt steak cut against the grain. This cheaper steak cut is chewy. Charge us more, give us less, or both. Whatever you have to do to maintain a higher quality. Skirt steak is 100% the way to go. Wont even need corn starch, just cook it fast and hot. Try it out.

Overall, very expensive for the quality of food. The sesame chicken was the typical fried lumps that had gotten mushy by the time it got to me (ordered on door dash). An excessive amount of breading in my opinion. And for the price, I will not be going back.

  • Audrey Byram

It didn't have that Oriental feel. More of a fast food type. I got the general tso chicken but it wasn't really all that spicy. But if they added a full meal deal/ drink under $6.50, I'd go back.
