If you are a person of a colour or woman, please beware as the store employees harass shoppers by secretly following them inside the store and wrongfully accuse them of shop lifting. They undertake creepy and i think illegal surveillance policy. They have staff who are secretly following shoppers spying what people are putting in their carts, and this is beyond having CCTV cameras. I don't think this is a legal practice. On November 10, at 10.35 am I was shopping in the Sherbourne-Isabella store, I had filled up cart, and put one item in the second rung of the cart as I did not want the item to get crushed along with other things. While shopping I bumped into a guy who was in front of me (he was tall, wearing a cap and had pale complexion). I moved away and proceeded to pay my bill. As I was exiting out of the main shopping area to drop my cart, this same guy who I had bumped into stops me from getting out and starts accusing me of shop lifting. I tell him, I have paid the bill and he is being unreasonable. He starts showing me some badge (it is not a cop badge) and tells me "you in trouble young lady, don't argue." I tell him to go and check with the cashier, and he still does not believe me. All the while waving the bill . We go inside show the bill to the cashier and she tells us the item is paid for and listed in the bill. I am obviously upset, and I start thinking that this guy was following me while I was shopping. If he was doing "surveillance" he obviously did not bother to come all the way to the cashier to see what was happening and was just waiting to sneak up on me to harass me. I demand a written apology from the store manager whose name is publicly listed in the FreshCo website as Gowthaman Velautham. And I also demand an apology from this security guy. They both refuse to give anything in writing and don't even show a little remorse for their actions. One store employee who said she was a supervisor asks for my contact details so that they could ask someone to contact me regarding this issue. I did not give me contact number because after this creepy behavior of being tailed inside the store, I don't know what else is the company capable of. I waited for an hour inside the store for the apology letter, but nothing. The store manager disappears, he sends his deputy with the business cards of the security agency and again no apology letter. More than hurt at this behavior from FreshCo staff, I am frankly shocked at the invasion of privacy. About how FreshCo employs people to tail on shoppers and harass them. I understand stores disclose there is a CCTV camera watching people, but there is no disclosure about humans spying shoppers in store while they are shopping. This is creepy and should be illegal. I returned the items that I bought, and don't think will be going to this store again because it is unsafe not because of any drug addicts or etc, but because of such security policy.

Worse experience at this store that has NEVER happened to me in my lifetime....was SHOCKING and TRAUMATIZING. After cashing out $100 in groceries...I had to cash out two other items, whilst the last customer before me was cashing out...less than a minute later when I returned to cashier with items to cash out...I was told...by cashier and security...that I cannot be cashed out ..the tils are closed! I said Ive just finished cashing out a cart load of groceries...a minute ago...can I not cash these two items out? Security looked at me and said...sorry...tils are closed! Had the NERVE and GALL BLADDER AND IGNORANT BALLS to say...u already paid for your items...u can take those ??? I HAVE been shopping at the store since they have opened... That's it for me! They can ...F...k right off! I am back to No Frills...where I belong ...like another commenter in here... has recommended! .... Not in that DISRESPECTFUL DUMPSTER!!! The cashiers are f...king rude stuck and fugky up...not sure y... nothing to be stuck up about!!! THE STAFF AT NO FRILLS GOT CLASS MANNERS AND PROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE... TRAINING!!! They NEVER kick you out...once you are in the store! After HOURS ...or NOT!!! Can you people also have a clean washroom with lights and toilet paper like No Frills does......have some respect for your customers

I was taking pictures to give a five star review. I've been in many times before. However this time was different at the cashier. March 16, 2023, Teller 4 at 5:30 pm. A lady with shoulder length wavy black hair and horrible demeanor was the cashier. First she argued with the shopper in front of me regarding a price check. I tried to politely, (I'm always polite), clarify the pricing. She dismissed me and the shopper gave up trying to explain, and left without the item. I apologized for intervening, and she still had a very lousy attitude. Then an employee got very physical with, a shop lifter, causing him to have the stolen goods fly everywhere. The guy was then very forcibly thrown out. To be fair, I don't really care about that part, but human rights people might. It was definitely assault. What I do care about, was when he started sorting through my already paid for groceries, looking for any loot that might have fallen in with my stuff. I would have let him, but he didn't ask. I suggest the No Frills, up the street. It's only a five minute walk, north and their employees don't make me feel like an intruder.

Possibly the worst place to ever shop with many rude cashiers and many rude clerks. PLEASE NOTE- Prices on the shelf have always been wrong. You are allowed to take the product for free if the price is not mentioned correctly on the shelf and it scans at a different price under the Ontario Law. They have no means to deny free products when it is their fault. You are allowed to sue them if you find the scanning price higher than the shelf price. Clean in certain places but very bad at stocking products according to dates. DO CHECK THE EXPIRY DATE ON THE PRODUCT BEFORE BUYING THEM. They are hardly removed even after expiry. No easy returns and no Rain checks although that is their tag line. The 'double fresh guarantee' policy is not followed as well. Good thing about this store is- it is located near food basics and no frills. Both within 5 mins of walking distance who accept returns easily and provide rain checks as well.

About four weeks ago I bought 3 packs of Mozzarella cheese from FreshCo store at 559 Sherbourne St. Two of them were good but when I took the third one from the fridge today it was was completely rotten - all covered by dark mold (see photo). The "Best before" date is clearly printed on the label: Mar 29, 2023. (see photo) Package was not open, store label is on the package, best before date is clearly visible. Despite of all of these, the store refused to refund the cost of this cheese package when I brought it back because I don't have a receipt??! Who keeps grocery receipts for weeks? The price of this cheese is $5.99. Question to store management: Is loosing the loyal customer and affecting store reputation worth that money?

I have been shopping at this FreshCo since they opened. I was the first to post a five star review about them. That time, they were excellent. But nowadays, very unpleasant atmosphere. Too much chaos, too little space in the store. Today, empty shelves even where bread, water, carrots, frozen yogourt and ice cream used to be. I spend over $500 a month there. Recently, the Security Guard presumed me to be a shoplifter. He follows me the store, zealously watches my every move at the cash register, even stares into my purse. Is it because of my skin colour? I feel so insulted that every time, I leave this store in a bad mood. This is why I take my money to a more welcoming store.

It is my opinion that while this place sells fresh produce, that most products at this grocery store are overpriced for its location in the Toronto. When I recently visited, I tried to purchase some food, but the teller kept asking us to switch tills because he said he couldn't log into the computer. None of the other staff stepped up to help, so I eventually just left without paying, telling him to just restock the items I was trying to purchase. In the future I will not be visiting this store because I can find better service for my time, and cheaper prices for better products at the No Frills stores on Bloor Street or Parliament Street.

All Good Things to Say! Clean, bright, spacious, modern store. Friendly and helpful staff. Well stocked. Specials seem better in the store than the selection in the flyer. I’ve shopped here about a dozen times, and they have always had everything on my list in stock, often with a choice of products, or varieties I haven’t tried before. So much better than any competitor nearby. Suggestions? Some produce items get picked over quickly...keep it fresh (e.g. tomatoes, cilantro)! Quick checkout, although once all the cashiers closed at the same time.?? Keep up the good work.

Came in here just yesterday. Really rude customer base that don't seem to pay attention to other people. Someone waved me off for being in "their way" walking three people abreast. The store isn't that big, so aisles are not the biggest. That's one of my big complaints. Apart from that, the store has good selection of food items, the checkout can take a little long which could be balanced out by having more people on cash, but the cashiers are fine. I'm just not a fan of some of the entitled crowd that come through here. Some of that needs to be monitored as well.

A good store for your daily veggie and meat needs. Price is a little bit higher on some products and sometime they have fluctuated pricing. But, they do price match with Walmart, NoFrills, Food Basics, and Supermarket (may be Loblaws too). A good amount and a good variety of Frozen Foods are available there. As an Indian, I am more reliable on Freshco for a few Indian veggies. They have good offers on Ghee and Ashribad Wheat sometimes. They do have offers on Milk, Paneer etc. Paanipuri, Deep products are available

Usually have a pretty good selection of produce and products. My only complaint with the store (and with the urban Freshcos in general) is that they often don't have enough cashiers on duty, and they don't have enough physical space for long lines at the front of the store. Usually I pop in, look at the situation with the cashiers - if there's any sign of long lines and other checkout chaos, I leave. They're open until 10 PM, so late evening is my favorite time to pop in and out quickly to avoid the lines...

  • ellaine valdez

The security needs to be retrained. My mom and I were followed by the security guard from the moment we walked in, to the moment we left. he even stood in front of the next cashier to watch us. My mom, the sweetest, hardest working women ever, was so scared and was going to have a panic attack. I was very uncomfortable too. It felt like the security guard was targeting us. Don't go here if you're a POC cause omg they're so obvious. Go to NoFrills down the street.

  • Vita Raziel

When FreshCo opened, it was a spacious, clean, friendly store. Now it is a very small, tights space. Naturally, frustrated shoppers get impatient, nervous. Some push, shove, trying to squeeze through a narrow isle, or around large display tables, or to grab items from the shelves. Some just walk away. Also employees with large carts often block the access to groceries. It feels like an exhausting work, far from being a pleasant shopping experience.

  • SM Hossain

Security guards should be more careful about accusing or checking someone. We used to purchase from the NoFrills closest to this Freshco, and one day they started to search our stuff while we were paying at the counter. The black guy thought we were not paying for the other grocery bag even after giving him our receipt from NoFrills! It's not fair to be rude or misbehave with customers without being proven guilty!

  • mike 4thelasttime

Ok ! Enough is enough. The past 4 years ive been going here, they have not changed their pernicious disgusting behaviour of selling spoiled meat. I forgot once again and made the mistake of buying meat at this location, every single time it has been spoiled dosnt matter if its chicken or beef. Best to stick with frozen meats here. You guys owe me like $100 by now with all the spoiled meet ive had to toss out.

This grocery store has some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The staff act like they are doing you a favor by letting you shop there. It’s overpriced, and often out of stock on basic items. Several times I’ve purchased food on sale that turns out to be rotten. Save yourself the trouble and walk the extra couple of minutes to hit up the no frills or the food basics.

  • Ehsan Etesami

There are aisles for Middle Eastern and East Asian products. Usually, a variety of Halal meat products, including beef, lamb, and chicken, can be found there. There are no self-checkout machines. The store currently offers price matching with No-Frills, Food Basics, Real Canadian Superstore, and Walmart.

  • Bubbles St Louis

This is the worse establishment they have rotted food on their shelves, hostile racist security guards secret shoppers who do not care to hide the fact that they are following black people who are spending their money its the worse grocery store in the Sherbourne and Bloor area

  • Cat Smith

I really want to love this grocery store because the freshco near my moms is so awesome. But it's been several times now what I buy is either expired, expires quickly or is already rancid (probably from keeping things out of fridges for too long). Sadly I won't be back.

  • Taf Gayle

They have security guards that seems to only watch for black people. You'll have white folk and other races standing behind pillars, filling their knapsacks. But the security guards only have eyes and strength for black people. Smh. Ruins the whole experience.

  • mounish guptha

I don’t know why you employee such rude security guards, always impolite and rude towards customers. I started walking to the no frills just to avoid seeing him. Such an arrogant guy he is tall and fare. Also racist towards Indian customers

  • Fiza Ahmed

Worst place they confronted us for stealing their stuff they checked everything but couldn't find anything that I didn't pay and still the guy who works is a racist they shud check cameras before confronting anyone would not recommend.

  • Hardika Vibhakar

they should respect customer's point of view...FLIPP app has many customer friendly updates, Managers and Front End staff should be aware of them..Nobody wants to get insulted just to save $1 through price match over purchase of $27.

  • Mainulx

Doesn't really have all the items as compared to the other branches like the dundas and parliament one. Homeless and drunk people are outside and a bit weird to go through them. Staff are limited and didn't find much help.

  • Stanislav Vlasov

Till now it’s the best place to do shopping for me. In terms of food prices and food quality they are in really good level Definitely will be coming again and again even it takes longer walking time to get there …

  • Laura Vincent

Very nice bright clean store. Lots of good sale items and lower prices than the competition in general. Plus, the produce looks exceptionally fresh. Hasn't changed, still a great grocery store.

  • Virginia Igbedion

If you are black, do not visit this store! The security guard follows you around like you are there to steal something!! There is a no frills and Food basics around the corner. Sickos.

  • Nabeela Nushaira Rahman

Clean, good selection of products, friendly staff. I wish there was a self checkout though, the lines are always pretty long at the counter. Avoid weekends if possible, it's too busy!

  • Ramón Rodríguez

It's a good supermarket in the St. James Town neighborhood in Toronto and you can use Scotia Scene points to pay, prices are reasonable, but there are no hot meals and/or buffets.

  • Scott Uni2042

The store is well maintained the product selection is awesome and fresh. Place is always busy but not so much you can't get what you want and leave in a few moments time.

  • SenseiOfSnark

Big, clean store. Easily accessible with many items not available in other stores ie Nabob Decaf coffee, which has disappeared from Metro & Loblaws. Great fresh produce.

  • Charlee Karina

Most of the time I go they have it well stock, is a bit higher in price than no frills and food basics but I could also find more selection of international foods here

  • Robert Morrison

A great store that besides the staples has a very large international section for a very diverse neighbourhood. Prices are great, all things considered.

  • Gerard Neil

Very reasonable prices. Always fresh produce and vegetables. Wide selection and choice of fresh or frozen meat or seafood. Scene points card is useless.

  • Prakash Nichani

They mark one price for the whole bunch check out they charge more. I didn’t want to go their got .50 cents.when pass by will show them it’s not right.

  • Safi Maryus

They actually close the door earlier than they should it says 10 I was there at 9:54 they didn’t open the door for me to get some bread, disappointed

  • Dan

The store is good enough and very clean. But the fat Indian security guard following me around cause I'm dressed for the weather needs to chill out.

  • Brian Good

Decent store - can be expensive and badly laid out - have a large product base - but look for nothing out of the ordinary - they won’t have it

  • Milena Nasser

Despite what some people say in these reviews, I don't think this FreshCo staff is rude. On the contrary, they were always very nice to me.

  • Daniel Law

This store has a wide variety of items including fresh produce. While the store is often busy, the checkout time is not too bad.

  • Zoya Nadir

1. Overpriced. More than gas station stores. 2. Security guard in store is hella weird. I understand that people shoplift and

  • Javier Pacheco

New, well lit and fully stocked. Fresh produce and decent variety, what you have come to expect from a Freshco.

  • Milan Mohan Roy

All daily needs available here . Vegetables, fruits, bakery items to fish meats are also available here.

  • Ron PD

I like shopping here. Nice assortment and selections with solid pricing and a great location.

  • Cess Yu

A bit small, the FreshCo at Bathurst and Nassau is way bigger and has more meat selections.

  • Diane Graham

Well organized and stocked. Prices are clearly displayed. Staff were friendly and helpful.

  • Sherree MacDonald

It's cheap but be careful when selecting food. I got a few things here that were rotten.

  • Devyani Khosla

I like how they have separate section for indian frozen food! Love the variety of things

  • Ella

Since moving into the area I came to find this place and have shopped a few times.

  • Mikhail Shemet

Frozen pollock is on sale this week but there's no stock
