I came to Gossip on the Sunday after Chinese New Year in Manchester. Why? because I wanted Malaysian food. I wanted to come to Gossip but I could not convince myself because of his turnabout. So along the drive to Moston had to tell the wife about RPK history and people in Malaysia hate him. Arrive in Gossip RPK daughter in law told me that RPK daughter in law due for his 6 grandchild any time, and yes she will contact him to come to meet and my wife. I told her instantly that leave him alone as he expecting to be a grandfather albiet 6th?, give him a break. Later on I discovered his grandaughter came GMT at 16.30 or whereabout and I left at about an hour earlier. On research, I am famliar with RPK history. PLEASE RPK can you confirm about Tunku or Raja Badar family. What I mean Tunku Badar family the road remamed from Samy in Port Swettenham. There was a family close to present Sultan of Selangor whose sister was sister to Sultan Selangor mother in Taman Chi Liung in Klang. I use to see her walking home after her shopping as I was living across Tam Palm Grove. I really did not imagine that I would have Selangor Royalty staying cross by about 30 miles where you live all these years. Yes I have shook hand with you in London,Marina and youngest daughter, HRH Sultan Saluhuddin, your grand father, Raja Tun Uda at KL Railway Station on his way to Singapore for Malayan Bank Meeting night sleeper, your aunty seet him off. I am just 30 mile off Pete and my wife and I know Brickfields well but not Bangsar.

It was our first time eating at the restaurant after living here for 2 years. Although a friend did say she didn't like the food (which was part of the reason I never drove here) but because another friend wanted to check out the place, we decided to go. As we arrived, there were other people enjoying their food. We were served warmly by the owner. I ordered nasi lemak with squid (served on weekends) and managed to taste a bit of my friend's tom yum. To be honest, I couldn't find fault during my first trip there. Maybe because my expectation is different than others who reviewed negatively. And maybe too I was lucky. But again, I personally feel that the food is good enough for me to want to come again. Anyway, generous portion of rice and squid. Lots of ingredients in the tom yum as well. My daughter enjoyed her egg fried rice too. The restaurant is also nicely decorated. Small but cosy. I'll definitely come again. This is based on my personal experience (and my husband, daughter, and our friend) so if you are unsure whether to come here, just check it out like me. Maybe you'd enjoy your experience the same way I did and others who reviewed positively.

The food may have been nice, but unfortunately my party didn't get to try most of what we ordered as the service was very slow. After getting some fairly tasty starters, we had to chase the whereabouts of our mains - after about an hour of waiting. The response was (10 Minutes)... 10 Minutes later, we had had enough & left - after being informed that our food had STARTED to be cooked, & would be another "10 Minutes". Perhaps making it worse was that a party that arrived 20 minutes later than we did, got their mains before we did - as they had "ordered their food all at once" (?) The beleaguered waitress who seemed to be doing all the dining room activity deserves credit for being nice under pressure, having to deal with our complaint - while her boss was hiding in the kitchen ! Finally, despite the wait, NO discount was even offered as an act of good will for the (expensive) starters we had eaten !

Visited today and can say that I was quite disappointed. The restaurant was empty however the service was sooo slow. We waited 45 mins for starters and nearly an hour for mains. The restaurant was extremely cold and when we asked for heating, nothing was done. We were served by a quiet boy who was confused and clueless. My husband ordered noodle soup and I ordered nasi goreng. Quality of food was not as expected I have had nasi goreng in several places, I received what looked like egg fried rice with excessive vegetables. My husband wasn’t happy with noodle soup either and described it as bland. Unfortunately I won’t be returning - food was overpriced for what we received. The 2 stars are for starters which were okay.

Very good find, we tried a nice range of things, it would be good if they do a mix starter to share so we could try lots of things! For starters we have the fried prawns with sweet chilli, Tom kha soup(one of the best I've had) and Murtabak (Chicken) My daughter loved the murtabak! For mains we had Mee Mamak (spicy chicken noodles) they were very good! My husband had Thai red curry(beef), I did not like that and cutting one star because of that! It tasted more like some Malaysian curry maybe then thai. My daughter had the stir fry noodles (side) the portion size was very generous! It's a very reasonably priced restaurant, we had a tastecard which brought it down even further!!

Unfortunately I ordered 2 Thai salads for delivery through Uber eats, without the dressing, as I can't have the ingredients in the dressing. The salads turned up both with dressing in them. So I couldn't eat them and there appears to be no way of getting this rectified. After reading the owners response I will have to agree to disagree as it looked like it had dressing on the salad plus the receipt didn't state no dressing like the previous time I ordered. I will amend my review score then as the first time it was very tasty. I didn't eat any of the food this time due to the confusion.

We were looking forward to enjoy and sample what the restaurant offered. We were disappointed that it failed to deliver on the cuisine described. We had satay - chargrilled chicken on skewers without the accompanying peanut sauce but was given the sweet chilli sauce instead! On further inquiry regarding this, one of the staff says that there is no more peanut sauce?!! No apology, no mention of this prior to order or when the shortage discovered - The tomyam noodles and beef rendang dishes we ordered, they were unfortunately, also below average. Needless to mention, much improvement indicated here.

  • Ben Urmston

Crikey, this place is really good! Having spent months in Malaysia & Thailand, the food is brilliantly authentic and the menu is a good range of street food & classic dishes. Roti chanai & murtabak are superb. The tom yam & tom kha have all the grace notes you'd expect of basil, lime & lemongrass. The mains look really well differentiated between traditional fried rice/noodle dishes and there are some more local options. I could go on, but the food here is really good, whether you are after authentic Malaysian/Thai or something different, I'm recommending 5*

  • Carl Roberts

Me and my mum go to this place regularly, very friendly helpful staff who are willing to accommodate to different people's needs (for example allergies and if you want the food to be less spicy). Always serve beautiful high quality fresh food and the atmosphere is lovely and very relaxing every time we have visited. Prices are affordable for most people, food is served quickly, the restaurant has good decor and design and I would recommend this place for anyone wanting to try out a different cuisine or for anyone who likes Thai/Malaysian food.

Best Malaysian food in Manchester (if not in the UK). Home made, authentic, full of flavours. Beef rendang melts in your mouth! Full approval from my Malaysian friends. We will be back ❤️ PS: beef rendang - better than in Malaysia!

Having our meals at GOSSIP was a delightful experience.Satay Ayam cooked to perfection and the peanut sauce was awesome.Curry puff was send to our table piping hot.The pastry was good to the last bite.Tom yam soup kicks you back to Thailand.Authentic Thai.Their portions served were huge, worth every penny. For a moment we were in Penang cos the backdrop was a scene from Gurney Drive Penang.Friendly staff, good food and great ambience. You got it all GOSSIP.For sure we will be back for more.

It took them more than an hour to serve our food. There was a small golden hair under my child’s chips, and a nice red hair in my stir fried chicken ( disgusting!!). I will never go there nor will recommend to anyone with children. Very unhygienic. They took off the money for my stir fry chicken from the bill as I refused to eat.

Went to Gossip with my family this evening, it was 10 of us. Food was lovely & warm, large portions. Very good value for money. Food served promptly. Staff very friendly, my niece accidentally left her gold ring in ladies. Got a call from owner to enquire if it belonged to one of us. Extremely grateful for his honesty. Will be returning soon. Xx

The fried noodle too spicy even I ask for less chilli. Beef rendang too salty. No customer oriented. Teh tarik lacking of the characteristic. 3in1 tea bag from supermarket much better. Will not recommend. Go Nur Malaysia, Kaya or Sambal restaurant also a Malaysia/Thai. Better taste and you feel more welcome.

We ordered from Gossip a couple of days ago and were not disappointed! The food was delivered very quickly and the delivery driver was very friendly and helpful despite us making him wait a little while (sorry!). They also provided an additional starter for our meal which was a nice touch. The Pad Thai and Pad Khing mains were so delicious! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who has not tried it.

  • Ian Peacock

Not all the best places to eat are in the centre of Manchester! Since it opened, this restaurant has caused quite a buzz in the local community with lots of positive vibes about the food. I ordered a take away from here last night, choosing the Beef Rendang with Rice and a Roti Canai. The food was delivered on time and still hot and the beef was amazing with every mouthful just melting away. Delicious!

  • Mohammed Hussain

Overall it was fair. Food was actually decent but for it to take quite a long wait for starters and the gap in between for mains was bit too much. We came for the Beef Penang but they ran out unfortunately! In terms of cleanliness around the restaurant could be bit better plenty of dust and stickyness. Food was good though, we will return for the Penang just hope service is more attentive!

  • Paul Ho

Very Interesting. The Attitude of one of the waitresses was awful. Very rude. It felt like we was not wanted there and when we asked questions she sighed and made it a very bad/awkward experience. The food took a while to come and when it did come it was very very salty, the roti was very oily also. After the meal the waitress turned very friendly and asked for us to do a review. So here I am.

  • Nasir Manzoor

My family and I absolutely love this restaurant and visit regularly for its beautifully cooked authentic Thai/Malay food. Recommend ‘Gossip’ to a Thai friend and he could not believe how genuinely good the food was (10/10). Without question, some of the best Thai/Malay food in the UK. Hidden gem ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My 3rd time visiting across multiple years, but last night was the first time we had takeaway from Gossip. I've always like the deco in the restaurant, really made me feels like home. Though due to pandemic they're only doing takeaways and delivery, but the food quality and portion are still amazing. One of the very few places in Manchester for super authentic Malaysian dishes, yum!

  • Pete King

Doesn't look much from the outside. However, the food is out of this world. For two of us, including a bottle of wine it was £35. Incredible value I have paid three times as much and not enjoyed the food as much as I did at Gossip.

I have visited Gossip quite a lot, the food is very authentic and the staff have always been friendly. We visited last night and I noticed a new girl who seemed to have a bit of an attitude which was a shame. Otherwise the girl who took our order was lovely! I think some music would create a better atmosphere :)

Food was very bland, this restaurant is for people who dont know what thai food is.. food was warm not hot the way you would want it to be, they must use so much salt cause that's all you can taste other than that it was delivered on time but would reccomend going to a proper thai restaurant ✌ …

  • maureen o'dowd

Had a takeaway from there on Friday, they deliver, and it was delicious. About an hour wait, to be expected on a Friday, but was worth the wait. Fresh ingredients and so tasty. Can’t wait until the end of lockdown to actually go there and try it. As has been previously stated, a little hidden gem x

  • Gaizka N

I visit this place looking for a real malaysian food and it did taste it real. The service was nice and the meal range was quite broad with both Malaysian and Thai dishes. I wish the had Sago Gula Melaka as a dessert, I´ve been looking for that since I left Malaysia. The food quality is acceptable.

  • louise sanderson

  • Shamim Chowdry

Was expecting authentic Malaysian food after reading all the reviews, and our experience was far from it. Very disappointed. The service was slow too when it wasn't even busy. Teh Tarik and Bandung didn't taste anything like it. Will not revisit. It was very expensive for what it was.

The food is alright, if a little pricey for the location. It's a mixture of Thai and Malaysian. One slight criticism, though. We have been there twice for lunch on a Saturday. Admittedly both visits were during winter time. But the restaurant was so cold we had to keep our coats on.

  • Bill Belegrinis

Great Thai food, portions are reasonable. Waitresses aren’t the most attentive and aren’t very knowledgeable when it comes to menu/allergen questions — super important when it comes to Thai/Malaysian dishes given the prevalence of soy, shellfish, and nuts.

  • Iker Banales

We had a very tasty Thai salad, good curries, and the mee mamak was good too. Roti canai were a bit stodgy, but they rarely travel well anyway.
