Nothing stood out. Furniture needs to be updated. At check in, switching on the tv the tv had an internal crack that should have been checked before we checked in. However they replaced it without wasting time. Room service is terrible. Had to call and walk to reception to bring in someone to clean my room. Cleaning ladies are not efficient. Food is bland. The guy making the omelettes could add extra effort. However was assisted by one black lady at reception very helpful. There was one other black lady at reception though, she was not very friendly and lacked customer service.

So my three friends recommended this hotel, from the reservation they never had any hiden agenda, everything was transparent. Warm welcoming on our arrival, receptionist wowww Sis Lihle and all the staff was amazing (check in). Room, bedding, space, cleaning ladies, room service and the fact that there was a hairdryer in the room wooowww, we request an iron and ironing board and we received it in five minutes. We requested it more than three times on our stay and they never complained. I’m not an easy person to please but I was taken away by their treatment. Beautiful carpet all the way and the breakfast was out of this world and the hotel is 5 minutes to the beach and 7 minutes to ushaka marine. Everything was more than my our expectations. On our check out they even gave us breakfast takeaways that we had on our way back. I will definitely recommend this hotel for my friends and family and I will come back very soon can’t regret for choosing Garden court South Beach. Keep up a good work!!!!!!

Getting from the airport to the hotel was a stress due to a certain taxi service... Being greated by the lovely reception lady Deirdre (the Indian lady) was very welcoming and relaxed my irritated state. She was very helpful and we appreciate her good customer service. The rooms was clean and neat. We booked the sea view which was great. The beds was very comfortable. Clean white linen and white towels. The rooms had a desk which was great seeing that I had work to finish off. Clean barthroom. So great job from the cleaning staff. There's a spur downstairs. A little neat and nicely layedout convenience store. And I bar I think. The breakfast was a full on continental breakfast. A huge variety and everything was nice... Upon check out Sah helped us and was also very helpful and friendly. A all round great choice and very happy that Southern Sun is our preferred hotels of choice... Keep up the good work.

We hosted a cycling tour from Joburg to Durban, arriving at Garden Court South Beach at the end of the tour. To say it was chaos on arrival is an understatement. The staff did their best to help and were very accommodating but this hotel did not feel like it a Tsogo Sun Group hotel. Not all the lifts were working, and the ones that were working were not being managed. Kids were pushing all the buttons and we waited 15 minutes to get a lift. One of our guests was stuck in an elevator for 20 minutes that got stuck. Outside the lifts a fight even broke out between women because tempers were high with the lift situation. All of this can be avoided having a lift attendant managing the situation. Rooms were clean and comfortable but shower had no pressure. Not the worst stay and but we won't be back ever again.

My family and I recently stayed at your hotel. Being a former executive chef of Southern Sun, I am saddened to see that the service excellence of the group has faded. The breakfast buffet on offer is something that I would never dream of serving to any guest. Edible? yes, but that's where it ends. The food was bland and greasy, the sausages appalling and every morning the bacon looked like it had been boiled. Service in the restaurant was also slow with waiters often forgetting the most basics. I had a leaky toilet in my family room which I called three times to be attended to. First time I was forgotten about and the last two, maintenance came and so called "repaired" it. Eventually I gave up and just put a hand towel down to stop the floor from being wet.

My company always books me into this hotel and I love it and the service I receive from the staff but I do not enjoy stay. The TV fails to play simple channels such as SABC 1 or E-TV for that matter! I'm an introvert and prefers being indoors, nevermind today's weather and all I expect to do is watch stay in my room, watch tv and drink coffee but the quality of the TV is horrible. See pictures attached. Air on not working. This is going to be the most horrible week of my life and certainly not looking forward to coming back here again, my company needs to find a better hotel for us, this is soooooo unpleasant. Secondly, as frequent guests, having Spur only as an option is boring. I wish you guys can offer us varieties! Regards, Unhappy guest

Located at beach front...so great view from the top. The room is clean, but the downside is that they allow smoking. Very disappointed when going down for breakfast and was told I could not eat in the restaurant and they would bring the food to my room. Tried to reason with the waiter, but he was a bit rude. Didn't want to prolong the argument, so I left for my room. Also was warned not to go out at night.

The area around Garden Court is buzzing with locals. I personally didn't want to venture outside. Rooms are reasonable, bathroom seems to be a standard size, bath and shower in one with curtain rails(the curtain rail in my room was torn). Lunch packs are unappetizing. Same thing everyday. Two slices of bread, one white slice with cheese and tomato and the other, brown slice with ham and lettuce. Breakfast packs are much better if you can't do the buffet breakfast early in the morning. Staff (the majority) are warm and welcoming and they'll try their best to accomodate you. Overall my stay was okay. Would not in my personal capacity stay here.

I haven't been here in ages. And I must say, the place has changed a lot. There was a very long wait at reception to check in, and the staff was apologetic. But they only informed you when you were at the desk that their system were offline. They don't communicate with people in the queue at all. Very bad service. That put a damper on the holiday spirit! But what really got to me was the 30+ minute wait for the elevators. They have 5 but only 2 was working. And one can't do the stairs from the 15th floor with a suitcase. It was very frustrating. The room was tidy and the admin staff very friendly and helpful. Oh - and keep your windows closed, as those really loud "street parties" can go on until very late.

  • Bheka Mntambo

Garden Court South Beach Durban is mess Packing lots are a mess, and you must use long narrow steps from parking to reception Rooms are old fashion, my room had a broken window, I had to listen to the sea noise the whole night while sleeping, my TV was using areal signal picture was very bad I couldn't even watch ICC Cricket World Cup There is lot I just forgot other things, and it's so surprising this hotel it's so busy, why they don't upgrade, I wasted my money.

The hotels car parking security needs to be well trained with a logbook. Every time I exited or entered, I had to produce my receipt which I paid for! Booked for 7 nights. My room had a broken window lock and the dressing table draws were damaged. I phoned the reception and complained about the damages and no response as yet on my 3rd night. During Friday and Saturday evenings, there was plenty of noisy adult guests, during midnight and after. I suggest the hotel sets in better standards and regulations, especially when they have facilities that cater especially for families. Its a sad reality, but I doubt that I will simply make another booking again at this particular hotel.

We were there last year December....what I didn't not like was the the Dj or hotel Dj making noise with the speaker. The kids making noise on the corridors .I was on the 4th floor .the house keep staff didn't change our bed ,you could tell that the sheets are dirty because I had braid you could see the products on the pillow.other than that great holiday and nice atmosphere.

Just average, really. Well located, but no spectacular thing to say about anything else they have to offer. Also, just make sure you don't go to the beach after checking out or feel the need to change your clothes. Hotel and surrounding facilities are not that friendly and available to ensure that you clean up, dry up, or change again before you depart. Decide and stick to it. They won't fit your inconvenience in. Otherwise, they're trying shame.

Firstly, the hotel does not inform you beforehand that they only serve breakfast – which is terrible food. The elevators are extremely slow and many times we ended up having to take 7/8 flights of stairs. The rooms are not great. The corridors almost always smell funny. Reception doesn’t answer their phones. They cannot even supply plastic cutlery. On top of all of that, they don’t even provide adequate, fast WiFi. They give you about 355MB a day and the process of obtaining them is a hassle. Would not recommend at all.

One word to describe my experience: AMAZING ! I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, it is affordable and I highly recommend it to everyone. It's in a perfect location, right next to the south beach and the view from the rooms is breathtaking, it has a swimming pool, which is suitable for mostly kids. The service is amazing, reception is quick to assist and there is a very pleasant and welcoming scent in this hotel. My room was kept clean and neat by a lovely woman called Nothando. The breakfast was served fresh every single day( buffet). Overall my stay there was amazing. Definitely not the last.

  • Ntshovelo Amanda Maluleke

We enjoyed our stay here but the bed is very old, instead of waking up feeling fresh, you wake up with back pains, we saw the mattress without sheets, very disgusting . The curtains smell awful, I don’t think they’ve ever been washed, the carpet smells horrible. They put a “hotel menu” in the rooms but they don’t serve any of the meals, when you call, they tell you to order at spur. Their breakfast was nice and the staff is very friendly . It’s a nice hotel with a great view of the sea, they just need improvements. They must increase their budget for proper cleaning and maintenance.

  • Olwyn Read

Some guests in the hotel have very little respect for them selves or other guests in the hotel. This morning Friday 10th Novemmber, there were men traveling up and down in the lifts going to different rooms, not dressed and drinking beer. It is disrespectful and discussting that the hotel allows this to happen. The floor I was on (23) was a hive of activity all night, men entering ladies rooms and this carried on all night.

The staff was just amazing from the time we checked, it was soo windy that day, we hadn’t paid for parking and they gave complimentary parking in the basement. The only downside was it started leaking in our room which they offered to change but we opted to stay as it would hv been a mission packing up the kids and we were checking out the following day anyway. Also didn’t like that we couldn’t open windows because of the renovations

The room had a beautiful view of the sea however the carpet smelt damp and dusty. Teacups were dirty and the bathroom is in need of renovation, they are dated. The elevator also died and climbing to the 4th floor was a nightmare !! However the staff was so helpful and kind, they allowed us to check in early from the cruise. I also enjoyed how close the hotel was to the beach, very beautiful.

Electricity turned off regularly during my stay and this hotel (Garden Court South Beach) does not have a back up plan when that happens. It causes a lots of inconvenience for guests . Also room services is poor, at times I had to call for toilet roll as it was not replaced and the cups for coffee /tea in the room were not cleaned at times when room service was done. I was much disappointed and I can not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Me and my husband stayed on the 19th floor. The view faced the beach front and it was exquisite. The breakfast was very enjoyable and the best. Great location, nice breakfast but horrible entrance from the parking. I guess most guests come up from the parking lot and not through the big lobby? Then why have such horrible tiny staircase to haul one's luggage up through! Shamefully tiny pool for such big hotel. Only 2 staff at lobby. Took over 1 hour to check in. Long queues.

  • Chelsi Natascha Van Niekerk

Staff are very kind and friendly, the hotel does not have a gym but they have a spur downstairs which is great for a tasty meal any time of the day. Excellent buffet breakfast. The pool is nice and clean and can swim anytime of the day. Overall a great place to stay if you are very busy and need a good place to be in and out of.

It did not meet my standards the furniture is old and outdated carpets dirty air-condition was full of dust gave me instant flu and sinuses I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I guess that's why their prices are so low very disappointed indeed

My family and I stayed in a sea facing room, it was a wonderful, breath-taking experience! Very friendly staff, all our requests were met including the bar fridge that was requested prior our arrival. Breakfast was also great, nicely prepared Watching the sunrise from our room was really amazing, best holiday ever!

  • Portia Siluma

yooh the staff is soo rude :(, only the security guys and the cleaning ladies are friendly. The curtains are dirty, the carpet is very dirty, they have a small couch which is also dirty, the surrounding area is not so nice as well.

I had a great time during my stay at the Garden Court South Beach Hotel. The indoor area was clean including the bedrooms, breakfast area and elevators. I'd definitely recommend this place to people I know and don't know. Keep up the good work.

Very convenient location, rooms are neat, the breakfast as usual there's a variety and it's amazing. The staff never disappoints, they are always friendly and have Ubuntu. There was just a minor issue with the lifts around breakfast time. But loved it and looking forward to visiting again

  • Luzani Gugu Mothobi

I was booked here by default so the standard is not what I would normally go for, it doesn't smell like a hotel and the ice bucket was in the bathroom. It is great for people that are backpacking though. Loved the sea view and sounds the waves make. The complimentary cookies were great...

Disappointing rooms definitely need up grade. Its after 2 in the morning we up because the bed is damaged springs making big noise at every turn we take . Back is so sore. Pillows are terrible. Hope the breakfast will be better than the room. Not worth the money. More

Still a decent hotel, but sadly, the area has been allowed to slip. Not very safe, and not much of a police presence to keep visitors safe. Tragic, because it is in front of one of the best beaches in the country.

Horrible rundown rooms the carpet in the smoking rooms stunk air-conditioning wasn't working the receptionist failed to inform us about breakfast times and facilities on the property. The shower heads was full of build up it was an unexpected un pleasant experience.

It is a beautiful place to stay, very comfortable beds, and house keeping is good. If all the lifts could be like the first lift on the southern side that requires the tapping of the room card before it functions that will be great. I gives a sense of security

  • Phumi Dhlamini

Great place to stay, the rooms are clean and their staff is super friendly. They just need to put better smelling soaps in the room bathrooms and change the breakfast a bit,if you stay there for a few days you will eat the same breakfast over and over …

  • BRANDON CHETTY

This place as everything you need at an hotel as well as friendly stuff, only problem was walking up the narrow stairs from the hotel parking carrying my luggage. Would be really helpful if you guys put in a elevator in the parking that leads to the lobby.

  • Thabang Rantai

Dirtiest hotel I have visited. The carpet and curtains have awful smell. Everything is old and rusty. No hot water during the day, one has to wake up very early to get hot water. If it was possible to give 0 star was definitely gonna give them zero shame.

  • Rutendo Khumalo

We had a lovely stay. Covid protocols are being observed very well.. Special mention of their breakfast, it doesn't disappoint! As someone who doesn't take pork, I really appreciated the variety of choices available.. Thank you Garden Court South Beach ❣️

  • cilesta ramarumo

Thank you to the staff for their kindness and the way they treated us, from the receptionists, the cleaning lady, the security, the ladies in the dinning Hall and the gentleman at the pool side. We had a wonderful stay, will definitely come back. Danko!

  • Trudy-Jo Daniels

Good service, comfortable room. We were greeted warmly and because we stayed during off peak, got upgraded at no additional cost. Our room had a beautiful view, the breakfast was ample in variety and delicious and staff in the dining room were friendly.

Room were sufficient! But waited literally half an hour each time we wanted to use the elevators. The breakfast was very good though. This is also on a very busy street and check in was quite an issue with no parking available to do so.

  • makatiso mamooe

Service was great, and the staff friendly. I loved the idea of entertaining my kid in playroom while i had breakfast. My only suggestion would be the cleaning of the windows. The views from GC are great, but the windows are not too tidy

  • Mlu Nsikani

The rooms are okay. The staff is friendly. Although I feel like the breakfast could be better. For now it's not worth 5 stars. Also, the carpet on the hallways could be done without because it gives the place a feeling of being unclean.

  • Memo Tshipuliso

My stay was good, the hotel was clean. But 2 of the reception staff ( evening shift) were rude to me as well as a waitress in the dining area. Overall all service was terrible.
