I don’t leave a lot of reviews and I don’t think I’ve ever left a bad one. So this is not the norm for me. My partner booked this company even though they had actually damaged some of her property during a previous move. The men that turned up failed to fill the box van by not putting the heavy items in first, leaving a massive cavity in the van. This led to a second van being sent incurring an additional cost. The driver of the second van confirmed the first van was packed incorrectly and could have in fact taken all the items. Moving the items into the new property led to them causing damage to a numerous pieces including an electric recliner leaving us to have a specialist out to repair it. Additionally, one of the men who’s name my partner does not want mentioned for fear of reprisals, that came in first van made a number of odd comments about “not stealing things”. After we unpacked we found that a number small but valuable items were in fact missing and had been located in areas that had been packed by said man. When calling the office to about the missing items, staff answering the phone denied that anyone with the name that won’t be mentioned, worked for them and they repeatedly hung up the phone. Eventually a manager called back but essentially did nothing and claimed we must not have unpacked properly. Quite simply put, this company are not gentlemen. They are reckless, they lie and they steal.

I never write reviews but dealing with this company was truly horrible. The moving men turned up without equipment which they then took an hour to go out and get. A few hours into the packing, one of the men (Philipp) complained he did not want to wrap any more glasses in my kitchen and left (I suspect he also took some silverware with him which has been missing). The men took care of wrapping some items well but unfortunately did not wrap some expensive lamps that were totally broken and my bed's headboard that was so damaged, I subsequently had to pay to have it removed by ANOTHER moving company (I used to move from the storage facility into my new home) that were appalled by the condition it was in (as it had not been wrapped and all the paint chipped off). The company despite this careless handling of my property, still demanded payment, not acknowledging any wrongdoing or apology. I have waited for compensation now for weeks to no avail. The moving company I subsequently used were double as fast and half the price. Go figure. Suffice to say, I will not use or ever recommend using this company (again). Very unprofessional service when I thought I was paying extra for exactly that.

We have just moved from London to Hampshire and the move could not have gone smoother due to Liam and his crew @ Gentleman & A Van. This is the 2nd time we have used this company and cannot rate them highly enough. From the outset, Mark came over to look at the property we were moving from. He was professional and reassuring. I immediately felt like we were in good hands. The communication was swift and clear. They were flexible and good value. On the day, Liam and his 2 colleagues arrived punctually. They were bright and friendly from 8am - 5pm. I have no idea how they kept the energy up all day, they were amazing! Nothing was too much of a problem. They put every box and item into the right place and could not have been more accommodating. It made moving day feel easy - I was expecting it to be extremely stressful, but it was the exact opposite! Thank you so much for all your help. We will not hesitate to use you again in the future and will be recommending you highly!

We used Gentleman & A Van for a stressful last-minute move which required all of our possessions to be kept in storage for several months between locations. Lauren and the two moving teams we dealt with were incredibly helpful and professional. We were especially grateful for the way Lauren made all of the necessary packing, moving and storage arrangements for us at three days' notice to ensure that we could meet our completion deadline and answered all of our anxious questions - without that, it could all have fallen through. Both sets of packing and moving teams were energetic, polite, and competent, and worked very fast. All of our possessions were taken care of beautifully with no breakages or damage from being stored. Given the quality of the service provided and the amount of stress which G&AV took off our shoulders, we thought they were well worth the amount they charged.

From start to finish even the collection of the used boxes was excellent. Coming round to do an assessment and providing the quotation, the removal crew coming on the day before to pack and load in to the vehicle, coming back the next day to finish with the final overnight items and then unloading and putting all the furniture and boxes to where we ask and then as I said coming to collect all the used boxes, the service of everyone, but especially the crew was so professional and respectful to our belongings and furniture was brilliant, they even unloaded our cars for us. Without out doubt would very recommend their service. Also, we would like to say that they even accommodated for our short notice in our removal date by rearranging for the size of vehicle to meet our needs. We would like to say a very big thank you for their huge effort and for making our move so stress free.

Incredibly good service and value. Would highly recommend. At all points of contact, I was very impressed. We had a fluid situation around our leaving date, but Lauren and Alex in the office worked around all that, producing the perfect solution at the 11th hour. They definitely went above the call of duty. Then the move itself was done by Marian, Victor, Richard and Raducalin, who were absolutely brilliant. Very fast, polite, helpful and professional in all aspects. Everything was transported with no issues at all - I couldn't believe how good the packing was and how quickly they did it all. Then finally, the chap (whose name I didn't get) who picked up our empty boxes a week or so later was also extremely helpful and professional. All in all, this could not have gone better, and all at a very reasonable price. Would absolutely use them again.

We have used Gentleman and a Van for two moves now. Our most recent move was incredibly stressful an uncertain move date; Piero was extremely practical and supportive in helping us come up with a stress free contingency plan for storage if we couldn't move as planned. We have enormous, heavy furniture which was quite difficult to move, and again the team were great at helping us come up with options, including a hoist and coming in through a window. We also appreciate their approach to sustainability, collecting boxes and offering environmentally friendly options in the event we couldn't fit or sell items. It has been such a relief to deal with a positive, responsive team. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use again (although I hope not to need to move again for quite some time!)

The service we received isn't what we paid for. We had a missing item which was miraculously found once we complained and also a number of items were returned damaged. We took out their recommended insurance but they claimed the insurance would not pay out for the damaged items. After pressing them we got some money back (not the value of the items) which will leave us out of pocket. I would not recommend the packing or unpacking service as this is where I believe the items were damaged and there wasn’t much of an apology or accountability. The team themselves seemed like good guys and were polite so this was likely a genuine mistake. If the head office had compensated appropriately through the insurance as we would have expected then there would be no issue.

We had lived in the same property for thirty five years so it was with great trepidation that we decided to move. Gentleman and a Van was chosen by review, which is why I am adding mine to the list. They could not have done more to make the move easy. Everything from the pre-visit to the the boxing and carrying was achieved with good humour, kindness and quite a bit of muscle- thank you Lucio and the crew. My property was treated with respect, and at least half went into storage to be returned with the same humour and muscle five months later. As the packing was immaculate, nothing was broken. They probably aren't the cheapest,but they can't be beaten on professionalism . I won't say I long to move again.......but if I ever do I will know who to ask.

G&AV were simply the best you could want for removals. From start to finish they showed extreme professionalism, took care of every small detail and were super polite and so helpful. Daniel was a saintly superstar and the rest of his team were a joy to work with. They were so careful, respectful and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Everything was so well labeled unpacking was easy. We had a huge amount of crystal and fine porcelain and were fearful of how it would make the journey, we need not have worried as it was immaculately packed and arrived safely. I would hugely recommend them on every level of the service they provide from the initial meeting to the helpful box collection service at the end.

We used Gentleman & A Van this week for two moves - one from Earlsfield to Shoreditch, and another from Earlsfield to Ipswich. Phil, Mark, Sergio, and Liam were such a fantastic team - they took care of all of our precious belongings, repacked anything they didn't like the look of how we packed, and had all of the equipment you'd need to safely transport furniture, electric guitars, TV etc. They turned up early on both days, planned how they would load the van looking at what we had, gave my husband warning of when they would arrive the other end, and generally just made what is a stressful time really easy. Such lovely lovely guys! We will be moving again soon and will be asking for the same team again.

First time I made a booking and the process was fine, I dealt with Amy and Graeme in the office - both personable and efficient. The job was a simple internal move of a very heavy item from ground to first floor - a two man job for safe handling. Minimum job length of 2hr rates applied and was explained at the outset, the job itself was only really 10-15 minutes. Some more flexibility would have been appreciated, but as stated, rates were clearly advised prior to booking. Guys arrived on time, were polite and handled the job without any fuss Before signing off the job they asked if I was happy with the position etc. I'd use the service again and would feel comfortable recommending them.

Can’t stop to say, how lucky we are to have them, such an amazing team, everyone works so hard. Especially when you can compare with other company, because when we were having the moving in, the other company was doing the moving out, you can visually see how fast Gentleman & A Van was working, totally in another level. Also we are quite appreciate about their schedule design for us, to make sure we can clear our property on time, they came one day early to packing up 80% of the stuff, so we don’t have pressure on the completion day. They are so professional, everything must be in the boxes or covered, and good labeling, very easy to find what you need, thank you Gentleman & A Van!

Absolutely amazing!! First class and so friendly, helpful and professional. First time I’ve ever used a removal company and I chose Gentleman and a Van as they were a local Company and always saw their vehicles. The 2 chaps (couldnt remember their names as head was swirling with things to do) couldnt do enough. They took everything in their stride, carefully handled all items and removed and reinstalled all items without any damage and in record time. Moved everything from a ground and 1st floor property to a 3 story property. Took apart and rebuilt any items that wouldnt fit out the doors. Would recommend 100% and wouldn’t use any other company. You won’t be disappointed

The removal crew at Gentleman and a Van were absolutely brilliant. Mike, Louis, Sergio and Tom did a very efficient job of packing up all our things and getting us moved into our new property. The paid attention to detail, making sure they set up furniture and boxes where we could still access plug sockets and move around the property to unpack. We also had the cleaning service, and Alex and his team did a great job. Unfortunately there was a mix up with our booking at Head Office, but they managed to scramble a team together to get most of the job done at the last minute. Overall, we are really pleased with the service and would use this company again.

This was simply a horrendous experience. Despite repeatedly informing them that I wanted the duvet Cover taken and not the duvet itself they have packed 2 large duvets of mine and transported to my new house in their van. Once they arrived their demeanour was very unprofessional, they (the removal men) were making weird noises and laughing behind my back. They were very messy when the time came to unpack my things and as a result I have lost some items. In addition, they seem to be a very expensive service for the work being done. The men I had to deal with today were no gentlemen. I urge everyone else to find a better company.

Really quite disappointed with this service. We have some quite expensive furniture and were encouraged not to use their insurance policy. Some expensive items were chipped and basically ruined, the total value of which exceeded the price for the job. Also their office forgot to place an order for one specially ordered crate and the clock it was supposed to hold was damaged. Actually quite upsetting. Also the job was understaffed for the first day of packing (confirmed by the team) so the final days were bedlam and maybe that’s why our furniture wasn’t looked after properly. I am not sure I would actually recommend.

Gentleman and a Van are a company that i would not hesitate to recommend for any of the services they provide. Their services, both administrative to packing, storing, wrapping, UK shipping, export shipping etc are simply excellent. Their staff always helpful, polite and above all, know what they are doing. I have used this company for several years now and appreciate the way they treat not only me as a client but, also the goods they handle, knowing that every item is personal, valuable or sentimental. This to me speaks of a company that cares about what it provides and that they go beyond that which is expected.

We have once again been very pleased with Gentleman and a Van. Terance has been there for us throughout the process, navigating us through any small challenge, ranging from a difficult parking suspension all the way to a cabinet that would not unscrew! Luciano and his team have been the real superstars on the day. Nothing seemed too difficult for them. We have been really impressed by their professionalism, stamina and team spirit and by how they could still smile and share a laugh at the end of such hard work for the day. A fantastic service. It was easy to book and organise with their office staff. The team of 3 that then arrived were brilliant. They dealt with a difficult parking situation and then simply got on with the job with a smile and surprising amount of speed and care. They asked the right questions, made knowledgeable suggestions and were totally professional. Moving back in was even easier and their help to arrange heavy items in our home was gratefully received. The team at Gentleman & A Van were incredible on a recent move from London to West Berkshire. Matt, Simon & Jai were the three lead in the crew that Mark assigned, and they couldn’t have been more helpful. They took the time to look round the property I was leaving, understood where everything was going, and then moved in so efficiently. I would NOT recommend. We moved our 5 bed home at the end of Nov 22 - a mile up the road to our new home - with Gentleman and a Van. The crew were nice but perhaps not careful enough. We had a number of important items of furniture broken and the company just washed their hands of us. They informed us that we should have taken out the £500 insurance if we wanted to guarantee against breakage. In 30 years of 4 major house moves - I have never come cross anything like this. Isn’t moving our belongings carefully and without breakage what we paid £5,500 to do???!

There is no doubt that Gentleman & A Van came to our rescue. From start to finish, they really guided us through a complex house move. The team worked above and beyond to pack up hundreds of boxes, transport them securely, store larger items separately, and unpack all the items at the other end. The Team were so professional and respectful of our possessions. We were particularly pleased that all the boxes and packing materials could be re-used rather than wasted. From start to finish the guys were fantastic! After being let down by another firm. I contacted GAV with only 4 days left before move day and they sent one of their quoting team, Piero who arrived first thing and also catered for our 2 week storage requirement. A brilliant team arrived to pack everything they were friendly, professional and made a stressful situation feel a lot more bearable! Especially John (JP). This is the third time I’ve used Gentleman and a Van in the last 3 years and I keep coming back because the quality of service that they provide leaves me satisfied. I’ve used the full packing service and I’ve not experienced any issues with damage on any occasion. They have always arrived on time, been friendly and professional and have ensured they worked around my requirements. You might find a cheaper quote but when your whole house is going on the back of a van I’d rather pay a bit more to know it’s being done properly!

Excellent service. We now moved with Gentleman and a Van for the second time and again they were professional, efficient and caring. Honestly, the consistency of the high standard service is something to call out. I cannot recommend this company more, as it does not matter who the team are, you will always get a 5 star service.

I am using these guys over the next two months to move, store and bring back my furniture once the work on the house is done. So far, the customer service (Tom) has been great in organising the van, bookings, quotes for me and the guys who came to the house were fast, careful and just nice. Moving is always stressful and to have competent people helping, makes the process easier. Gentleman & A van came recommended by someone who used them twice just recently, so I didn't hesitate to book them myself!

I highly recommend Gentleman & A Van. I have worked with many removal/ storage companies (I am an Interior Designer) and G&V are without doubt the best. Their guys are upbeat and helpful and, rather refreshingly, find solutions to problems rather than just saying they can’t help- for my own move they had to detach a light well grill, pull an Emperor bed base out a window, and dismantle an oversized piece of furniture!! I wouldn’t look any further than these guys if you are in South West London.

I cannot recommend Gentleman & A Van highly enough. I'd struggle to find the adjectives to describe how much they eased my stress on moving day; everything from coming so beautifully well-equipped with the right materials and equipment to take excellent care of my belongings during transit, to their calm and composed manner throughout the day, plus everything in between. The price was good compared to the other ‘big’ companies we spoke with. Steve who did our packing was polite, friendly and quick. Didn’t feel like as big an intrusion as we thought it would be. We used Gentleman & A Van for our house move which was quite a complex exercise: the team took care of all logistical details, including booking a hoist, obtaining licenses from RBKC for traffic suspension at both addresses. From start to finish the communication with head office and service provided by the team has been absolutely flawless and we couldn’t recommend them more for taking the stress off our mind and working with a smile throughout!

The staff at Gentleman and a Van are super friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they really took the stress out of moving. They worked quickly and took care of all of our belongings. As with lots of moves there was a lot of uncertainly as to if we would get into our new property on the day and had quite a bit of waiting around, but their flexibility meant we didn't have to worry about this so much. Jason was great to work with. This was our 10th move and probably the easiest! The estimate visit was very professional and efficient. A move from south-west London to East Sussex across 3.5 days went without a hitch. The purpose built crates for our sculptures were great and they really looked after our paintings. The team were a joy - efficient, strong, helpful and with a good sense of humour. They come with our highest recommendation, and a special mention for Denis and Luciano. Of course, the main man, Mark, was also caring and not without charm!

Gentleman & a Van have just moved me from my family home of nearly 50 years, into a small new-build. Traumatic move for me after so long. The team arrived, smartly dressed and with smiles on their faces. They took endless trouble to get everything carefully packed, and when we arrived at the new house were very patient at getting things in the right place. Could not recommend them more. G&V have moved us countless times and they have been consistently excellent from the start of the process to the final item being delivered and set in place. The delivery crews have always been intelligent, courteous and polite, which are very reassuring qualities at such a stressful times. From understanding and accommodating a complicated set of requirement at the outset, to giving clear options and pricing, and then a very professional service G&V made the stress of moving that much more manageable. Both the office team and the movers were highly professional and courteous throughout. This is the second time I have used G&V over 8yrs and they continue to deliver (no pun intended).

Size of vehicle needed was determined by combination of messages and photos of property to be moved sent via WhatsApp. Two courteous chaps turned up as scheduled. Move went well. Glad I chose this business for our move. Helpful, careful, and trustworthy. Even took a photo if me and my wife outside our new house when move completed. Sterling service.

Gentleman and a Van were so quick at moving my belongings into the van. I live on the second floor in a block of flats and it would have taken me days if I had tried to do it alone however it they were so efficient and still polite and friendly. I usually find moving incredibly stressful but thanks to Mark, Phillip and the rest of the Gentleman and a Van team my move was stressfree and easy!

Excellent service. The team of packers were courteous and hard working with a positive attitude. They even managed to overcome the challenge of the massage chair, which was too large to go through the doorway or down the stairs in one piece. We used Gentleman & A Van to move some furniture from one property to another. They arrived on time, were very professional and courteous and did a great job. They made sure everything was packed properly and secure in the Van. When they arrived at the new property they reassembled the furniture. I had a great experience recently liaising with Billie Jean for some moving and storage and the team that came to pick up the items for storage was very efficient and careful in our house. Probably the best removal service you can find in/around London. Efficient polite and very helpful. Second time i have used the service and i can't recommend them ore highly. The process from start to finish was 5 stars, on the day, they turned up early and packed up a 2sq ft office in 2 hours and moved and reassembled everything all done in under 4 hours.

We had a problem with admin (hence 4 stars) but Mike and luqman provided a 5 star moving service. They were professional, friendly (v strong!) and took care with our belongings. We would use the service again purely because of the movers - we couldn’t fault them.
