Why are country bakeries so much better than their city counterparts? I reckon it’s the fresh ingredients and loving care that is missing from the big, busy city. This is obvious from the other reviews of this bakery. The current Melbourne suburban sprawl is threatening the “country” status of Gladysdale, but I reckon it’ll be safe for a few more years. The food and service here is fantastic. The ambience is relaxed and breezy, and the choice is extensive. It’s hard to fault. However, in the interests of constructive feedback, I must say that my beef pie, while nice and chunky, could have used a touch more gravy. My friends lamb and mint pie however, was perfect. He wouldn’t give me any. The sausage rolls were great but the filling just a tad bland. While not everyone likes a more exotic sausage roll, I reckon there’s room on their menu for some which are spicy, or containing more onion, carrot or garlic. Maybe a dash of Worcestershire sauce? On the other hand, my Reuben toastie brought me straight back to New York. While not as majestically tall of those in Times Square, it had just enough pastrami, sauerkraut and gooey cheese to hit the spot. Yum! The old school, but much larger, chocolate crackles will bring you right back to your childhood. Be warned, it's hard to spot the place as its set back from the road. There is not much sign of it and being green ot blends into the background! Google maps is your friend. So, do yourself a flavour favour, and drive down the picturesque Warburton highway to this bakery. Have something to eat...and then hit the wineries!

Dropped in for an early lunch on Australia Day, we just beat the lunch rush and was able to get a table on the front deck. The staff were friendly and cheery, welcoming people in, sorting out all the covid check-in requirements, and seating people. Ordering at the counter was a breeze, with plenty of staff ready to take your order. I got the Banh mi Benny, a flavour combo of a eggs Benedict with the braised pork and pickled vegetables of a traditional banh mi. It was a really good combination and I'd highly recommend. We also got some take away frozen pies (delish!), and some desserts (it's futile resisting). Update! (Dec 2022) We came back with a friend for a coffee and some breakfast, I got the GB Benny bagel, which was quite tasty. Hollandaise, ham, sauerkraut, egg, cheese on a bagel.

Came here years ago for the pies and loved it then and so our visit last week was expected to be good and it definitely was. We got there just before closing and the food and coffee was still great. I got the lamb and vegetable pie which was delicious, not fatty and with thin, flaky pastry. The only tiny downside was that we asked for extra, extra hot mocha's and they were only just hot enough. But the coffee to chocolate ratio was great which isn't all that common now. The soy milkshake was great too, as was the melting moments and the redskin version was fun too. Overall will definitely be back for another pie and milkshake!

Guaranteed, you will not be disappointed. This is the best stop in the area, do not miss it. You will find the best selection of the freshest foods available. There is something for everyone here. Many seating options available, inside heating/cooling, outside deck or lawn/garden. Wheelchair friendly thruout with access via the rear driveway. The prices are quite reasonable and the atmosphere is country style relaxing. Parking available ut the front, with space for buses also. This is a one stop shop for your families snack/lunch/afternoon tea needs while traveling in the area.

Delicious food, reasonable price, great coffee, amazing view and friendly staff. We stayed in Yarra Junction for 3 nights and we went there 3 times. We had the pork belly breakfast, bagel berry with cream cheese, pork belly sanga, bacon & egg sanga, burgundy pie, vanilla slice, apple crumble tart and many more. Everything were delicious, thats why we keep coming back. The place was so busy on Sunday afternoon. Other days were alright. Little one also loved the food and the view of the mountain is spectacular. Totally recommended! We will be coming back soon.

Wow, what a fantastic little bakery! A real surprise and delight. We stopped here on the way to Mount Donna Buang. Everything that we tried was delicious, including the yo-yos (both the Monte Carlo and Lemon) and apple pie. The highlights for us were the moist flourless chocolate brownie and the still slightly gooey and not too sweet caramel slice. We will be back. We did notice that the bakery was for sale, so hopefully it remains as great as it is now, if there does happen to be a change in owner. Ahhhh that caramel slice…! Yum.

Hands down the best pork belly sanga (slow roast pork, lettuce, pickled cabbage and onion jam) had, it was so delicious. I highly recommended it and can’t wait to have it again next time I’m in the area. The pork belly is perfectly cook with great quality pork belly (good ratio of the skin and meat) and great sauce, and their onion jam is out of this world (I should have purchased a jar before I left. Next time I’ll dine it instead of having takeaways can’t wait to be back! Lovely staff too!

This is hands down my favourite bakery I’ve ever been to. I live locally, and there are other nice cafe/bakeries in the area - however - Gladysdale Bakery will ALWAYS be my place of choice. The staff are so lovely, the coffee is delicious, the food served ridiculously fast, and the best part - the food tastes SENSATIONAL. I have no relations to the staff or the owners here, I simply just love what they have to offer and have to share the positive review.

I recently visited this bakehouse and was blown away by the entire experience. The staff were extremely positive and cheerful, making the environment truly delightful. The pies were wholesome and delicious, and the fancy sanga's were packed with flavor. It's clear that this is truly a local business that deserves support. On top of all that, the prices were great, making it great value for money. Highly recommend this place!

Really unexpected beautiful spot in the north east! Took me about 20 minutes to decide what I wanted to eat because everything looked delicious. I ended up with a bacon and egg Turkish roll and a veggie pastie - the bacon and egg Turkish roll was divine and so filling I had to save my pastie for later My partner got the steak and bacon pie and said it was 10/10 If I’m ever in the area again I will be coming back for sure

Gladysdale Bakehouse is a master at food display. The moment you walk in, you’ll be amazed with all the beautiful food and pastries on display. We wanted to order everything! Our meals were absolutely delicious, my wife ordered the floating pie which were great and my Mexican dish was amazing too. We highly recommend dropping by this cafe if you’re in Warburton, we will definitely be there whenever we’re in Warburton.

This bakery is very popular, especially with tourists. They have a wide variety of offerings including pies, pasties and cakes etc. All very tasty. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. The service is very good. The only negative comment I have is the lack of parking. I rode my motorbike there and had to search for a space. Not a big problem but one that could be improved. I will, no doubt, return.

  • Grant and Amanda

We were on our way to the Redwood Forest and were looking for a place to eat along the way. We found Gladysdale Bakehouse and were met with a big selection of pies. The chicken and mushroom pie was ok, a little bit too salty, but their curry pie was incredible and we went back for seconds. It was even half price when we went! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

  • Crystal Palmer

Got there 35 minutes before closing time, and the kitchen was closed, we were really looking forward to their sandwhiches, they wouldnt even toast the sandwhitches that were already made. Only options were pies or cakes. The pie was good, but the male server wasn't very friendly. It seemed like he didn't want to be serving us. The atmosphere wasn't very welcoming.

A very affordable family/kid friendly restaurant in Yarra Junction. Dine in for lunch this afternoon and the pies are certainly the best I have eaten in a long time. The kids loved it and have enjoyed the outdoor dining very much. Staff were very friendly and also this must be one of the most Covid-safe restaurants I have been to. Will be back for more pies soon!

  • Joan Cooney

Ive often popped it to buy the best pizza pies around, however l was disappionted today as your pies are smaller and costing more than they used to be. Taking two bites out off the cherry can only indicate "G...d

Wow is all I can say just had the best pastie ever you can see all the veggies are fresh and not the frozen rubbish a lot of others use, make sure you do not pass this place without going in also spoke to a tradie there and he said his moving to the area just so he can go there for lunch every day if I could give 10 stars I would …

  • Andy Popkiss

Love Gladysdale Bakehouse! I was introduced to their incredible pies by a local, and now I travel 45 mins + to visit. I don't usually try bakery coffee, as it's usually not great, but when I noticed people stopping in just for coffee, I had to try it. The coffee is surprising really good! Amazing for a bakery, and great for a cafe.

  • Olivia Beauchamp

Everything looked amazing, we were spoilt for choice. Ended up going with a veg sanga - best I've ever had! Fresh ingredients, great bread, delicious flavours. Partner was chuffed with his pie and we both loved the yo-yo bikkie. Super friendly and fast service. We'll definitely be back to try more of the delish goodies. Thank you!

  • Mike Porritt

Very nice ! Well organized for covid compliance, very busy but handled efficiently with minimal wait times, friendly staff, outdoors seating available, good food, affordable. Only negative was that one bagel choice has incorrect filling .. it was still nice, and I am sure this would have been fixed if we had chosen to complain.

A must whether you're in the Warburton area or not. Family run business so the staff (most of them) are so nice. The food here is exceptional! Whether it's just a pie or you grab something a little bigger, always so yummy. Prices are reasonable and the range of food they have is great. Definitely need to make a trip back.

  • Shannon B

Such a gorgeous little country bakery. Friendly staff and the food is delicious and fresh. Everything in the display window looked beautiful! I need to keep coming back to try it all. I stopped by near closing time and bought a few half price pies. The vanilla slice was so creamy and smooth and not too sweet …

  • Louise Lee

This Bakehouse truly has one of the best pies and pulled beef sandwiches I've ever tried! My partner and I love going to bakeries around Victoria and this has to be one of our favourites by far! They use such quality ingredients and the flavour profile is phenomenal! Highly recommend this place ☺️✨

  • Jesse B

Awesome FOOD! Loved the sanga’s and coffee and the staff was so helpful. We drove to this place to enjoy lunch and we sure did. The prices are very decent compared to the great quality of the food. We figured that thats the reason for the number of people visiting this bakery on a Sunday at noon.

  • Natasha Venizelos

I was thinking I would come for a classic Aussie pie and coke only. But the food from the menu was tasty and beautifully presented, the coffee was good, can’t go past the vanilla slice and the selection of pies seemed endless. I was sitting outside on a nice warm day with a view of the mountains.

  • Jen

The most tasty pork belly fancy sanga yet! Wow, this sandwich blew my socks off. The pork belly was cooked perfectly, and slightly seared for extra flavour. The onion jam paired perfectly with the meat, cabbage and lovely bread. Couldn't ask for more. Will return if passing through.

  • Daly Family

Definitely I will go back to this gem of a place. Food is great - the pies are to die for and the vanilla slice is so delicious. It was quite a busy Sunday morning, but the waitress there are so attentive, helpful and friendly. Thank you for such a lovely time in your cafe!

  • Gee Gee

Had high hopes due to the reviews and ratings. My plain pie was ok but too stodgy and needed more gravy and flavour. The chicken, cheese and corn pie was a little bland. They don’t charge extra for sauce, although each pie only came with one sachet.

  • Richard Flanagan

So impressed, great variety of pies and good coffee. Exceptional service from counter to table. Had a chicken carbonara and the unbeatable plain steak pie. Good almond milk in coffee too. Love their variety of pastries as well on other visits.

  • Jessica Roche

Happened upon this bake house on our way to Warburton. Excellent! Great coffee, egg and bacon sanga and carrot cake. Huge assortment of bakery slices, cakes, pies, sandwiches and hot breakfast too. Was hard to choose. Will definitely be back!

  • Edwin Leong

You know the food is good when it has been two weeks since I've been here and I'm still thinking about that Pork Belly sandwich (it smells a bit because it's pork belly but honestly I think that's what makes it so tasty). Wish I lived closer

  • James Manlapid

Nice little gem. The pork belly sanga is a must buy! Coffee was well made and the vanilla slice was delicious. Pies were a little on the average side but that's likely because we came in later during the day. Staff were super friendly too!

  • Cathy Taylor

We just ate at Gladysdale for a leisurely lunch on the deck - great views, friendly & quick service & heaps of choice available, despite having "limited items", because it's just before Christmas. Thanks guys/gals. Keep up the good work.
