This was not my first time using a funeral director, so I am pretty experienced in the way things run. I have used the big names we all know, this time I was recommended to Golden Gate Funerals by a friend. WELL, I am thrilled that I took up that recommendation. This was no cookie cutter, standard, run of the mill, non feeling robotic group. Anthony Cutajar and his team at GOLDEN GATE FUNERALS were second to none. From the very first contact all the way to the last second Anthony made sure my beautiful father was looked after with the dignity and respect he deserved. Anthony came to my house to discuss the arrangements and encouraged us to give him a feel for Dad and we told anecdotes over a cup of coffee. There was no rush, no push...but there was attention to every single detail. Believe me when I tell you that those big $, big brands make their appointment for you to go and sit in their office they are in a hurry to get all of your details and get you in and out. For them time is money. For Anthony your time is precious and he lets you go at your pace, lets you cry, lets you laugh. Organising a funeral is difficult at the best of times but in the middle of a COVID Lockdown it can't be easy. Anthony thought of everything. Contacted everyone, even the Greek Newspaper which I have always had to do myself. His empathy and his compassion shows from the very first second he meets you and his staff behave with the respect and the reverence that you and your loved one deserve. Even when I thought I didn't have the strength to walk another step Anthony or his wonderful staff member Karen were there to hold my hand and help me get through it. When it comes the time that I will need this type of service again I will have no problems giving Anthony a call. Anyone reading this review should do exactly the same. Whether you are looking for great personal service or decent and fair pricing GOLDEN GATE FUNERALS is who you should be looking at. Leave those others alone.

I cannot thank Anthony and his team at Golden Gate enough for not only putting together a very beautiful funeral for my grandfather but also the amount of kindness, support, empathy and care shown to my grandmother and all the family. Initially, and stupidly, considering we had read the great reviews here, we went with another funeral director. Unfortunately it was a terrible experience from the get go, we were basically left to chase up things such as plot spaces and even the priest and after being told we would have to wait for almost 2 weeks to have the funeral, because of "covid" when it turned out they did not have enough staff available to hold he funeral, I could not take the stress anymore, and watching my grandmother at such a difficult time to also be so stressed was not ok. I immediatly did what I should have done to begin with and I dialled Golden Gate Funerals. From the moment Anthony answered the phone I was at complete ease, like a weight had been lifted and I knew I was safe. That is how I was left feeling after 1 conversation with Anthony. My grandmother and mother met with Anthony and they too felt at ease. Within 24 hours my grandfather was safely in their care and come the day of the funeral he looked just like he always did, but fast asleep. Absoluetly nothing was too hard and everything was taken care of leaving my grandmother to rest and grieve. The day of the funeral went smoothly and the funeral was one my grandfather would have been proud of. If anyone is doing what we did, reading the reviews to decide who to go with to farewell your loved one, honestly don't make the same mistake we did. Call Anthony and his team and you will have the best Funeral Director taking care of everything for you with years of experience and compassion leading the way. Honestly if I could give a million star review I would. Anthony and his team are the most amazing Funeral company in Victoria. They are affordable, They take pride in their service. They are compassionate, empathetic, kind and thoughtful. Not like other funeral homes I have seen. Going to view my mum at the funeral home was a wonderful experience. It honestly felt like I was sitting in my own lounge room. I felt comfortable to sit and have a chat. The tight knit team are in sync together, Anthony has a great team, which also includes the mortuary team, admin, videographer, and everyone in-between and Ofcourse the celebrant to conduct the service. We were lucky enough to have Vicki Portelli who spoke with such grace and compassion. Thankyou so much team On Thursday we said goodbye to my beautiful mum. It was a perfect send off. It was a big celebration. Anthony made sure it was all about mum, it was incredibly detailed and personal. Anthony went above and beyond our expectations without hesitation. He is passionate about his job, it shows it’s just more than a business. I have never met such a genuine funeral director. He has brought light, love and happiness to our family in such a difficult time. Don’t go anywhere else other than Golden Gate Funerals if you want your loved ones and family taken care of.

My family and I couldn’t be more thankful, humbled and happy with the service from Karen, Anthony and Vicki and of course the team behind the scenes. Our dads passing was so heartbreaking and without the love and support of all at Goldengate funerals we wouldn’t have been as strong as we were knowing these guys were there for us 100% of the way. The attention to every single detail is next level love and compassion. The support you receive is out of this world strong and they know how to put all of your worries at ease. ❤️❤️ just amazing! I lost the love of my life at 41 years old and from the very first call Anthony was so wonderful. He understood that I was distraught and could not make any decisions straight away. So, in the fist conversation just told me to breathe (I didn't realize I had stopped) absolutely compassionate and empathetic. Exactly what I needed at that moment. He was realistic about timeframes and went the extra mile to help get my love back to NZ at a phonomenal price. We did not have insurance and fundraised for all costs. Anthony acknowledged our cultural practices and accommodated all our needs.(even the good morning and good night from me to my love whilst in his care ) He did lots of extra things that gave my love the send off of a king! What can I say about Golden Gate Funerals? I have never heard of this Funeral company before last week when my father in law passed away…. The aged care recommended this Funeral company and the family followed through the request in their sad moments. Anthony met with the family and explained everything clearly from day one. He took charge of the whole funeral process so well that the family didn’t have to worry about any details. He kept in touch with the family. On the funeral day everything was organised and on time and Anthony paid attention to every detail. Everything was done very well and it was nice to see female staff involved too and it was very casual. Well if you are looking for a good and affordable farewell, Golden Gate is the way to go. Thank you Anthony and his team for organising everything in a respectful manner.

I can't praise Anthony and the team at Golden Gate funerals enough. We called him on Monday morning and he came to our house that evening and by Friday the entire funeral was sorted to perfection. Not only are the prices affordable in comparison to other funeral homes but the service and love provided by the team is next level. Anthony and his team at Golden Gate funerals provide a service that is warm and full of compassion during a time that is grievous and tumultuous. I recently attended one of their services and it was full of professionalism and respect. Every member knew the importance of their role and showed empathy and dignity to myself and the fellow attendees. Cheap. Too cheap for our liking. Asked for a quote and we weren't impressed with the fact we never got a reply. According to others we have spoken to Golden gate funerals does not have their own physical location. Or their own vehicles. Everything is hired out from other companies.
