An exceptional stay at the heart of Hobart! The Hobart City Apartments boasts spacious rooms that go above and beyond expectations, especially considering its central location. You'll find yourself within walking distance of the beautiful riverfront and numerous dining options. Room 817 was a delightful surprise. Not only was it spacious, but it was also fully equipped with modern amenities including a microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, array of cooking implements, bar-sized fridge, iron, ironing board, in-room safe, free wifi, and a hairdryer. The bathroom was a standout, modern and sparkling clean with a divine dual-head shower that had excellent water pressure. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a perfect night's sleep, and the block-out curtains are a thoughtful touch for those sensitive to light. The hotel doesn't just stop at comfortable rooms; it also offers two in-house restaurants—one Malaysian and one Japanese. We indulged in the Yamashita Japanese restaurant after completing the exhausting 4-day 3 Capes Hike. The convenience and deliciousness of the food were both much appreciated. Practicalities are also well thought out. The hotel provides a self-serve laundry in the basement car park, priced at $6 per wash and another $6 for drying, payable by credit card. Speaking of cars, the hotel also offers parking in the same basement, making it highly convenient for those who are driving. Last but not least, the staff were friendly and accommodating. They even looked after our extra luggage while we were away on our hike, which was a huge relief. Everything was just so easy and comfortable. I can't recommend Hobart City Apartments enough for anyone looking to have a convenient and luxurious stay in Hobart. * Centrally Located * Spacious and Modern Rooms * In-House Dining Options * Convenient Amenities * Exceptional Customer Service Stay, eat, relax, and enjoy—Hobart City Apartments has it all!

I stayed here for a week and was unimpressed by Hobart City Apartments for the following reasons: The decor was grey on grey, very stark, very depressing. Bonus: the view from the window was into the car park of a brick University of Tasmania building. The couch was seriously uncomfortable, meaning you sat on the bed which also isn't particularly comfortable. It also meant chilling in the room between outings wasn't an option. There was no vanity in the bathroom, we were forever balancing toothbrushes, hair brushes, curling irons, make up etc. precariously on the tiny silver shelf or on the sink. The first night we were there, there was a fire alarm at 4am. People were still using the lifts, and fire crews could not get upstairs. There were no hotel staff on site, and seemingly no way to contact them. Obviously, there was no clear fire or evacuation plan, which is concerning if there is a serious fire. The cleaners were hopeless, and would often forget to restock towels, tissues, tea and milk. When they occupied a floor their washing baskets and cleaning supplies would be everywhere. They are also careless and lost one of my Grandma's earrings that was in my room. After I looked thoroughly, the staff tried to find it, but I found them to be largely unsympathetic and more concerned about what this incident would do to their reputation. Overall, I did not enjoy my stay here at all and it negatively effected my time in Hobart. Go somewhere nicer, with a better view. IN RESPONSE TO THE BELOW - nice to see the below par service in action. Very comforting that the safety issues I mentioned are not addressed.

The numerous 5 star reviews of this hotel make no sense at all. The lady at the front desk was lovely but it was downhill from there. The ‘penthouse’ bears no resemblance to the room advertised on the website. It is dark and grey and looks directly onto the side of the hotel next door and into the windows of the rooms next door. This view is the same from the balcony - it is really quite unpleasant and you simply wouldn’t use it. The penthouse also has an unpleasant odour and generally doesn’t feel clean. The airconditioning in the upstairs bedroom doesn’t work and apparently this is the same in all of the penthouses. There is no door to the upstairs bedroom and it is open to all noise and light from the living area. The bathrooms are relatively new but the hotel is pretty shabby and certainly not worth the hefty price tag at $670+ per night (you can do so much better elsewhere). The location is central but grimy. It would be better to find a hotel in the Salamanca area. So disappointing and I wish we hadn’t booked here for 4 nights.

Form over function. 4 star - no way. Stylish furnishings, but in practice, it advertises as an apartment, but there is no table or chairs, the circular coffee table was too small for even two normal dinner plates, the only seating is a small daybed intended for one, set facing 90 degrees to the tv. Bar fridge only. And be warned, a standard double room does NOT have a queen bed - I’m below average height and my feet were over the end of the bed. It’s years since even outback pubs (that we often frequent) don’t have at least queens in all rooms and most have a small table and a couple of actual chairs. They don’t hide this fact, but who would have thought double really means double in the 2020s. Location excellent. Cleanliness average; dusting superficial, exterior of toilet bowl showing dried runs of some kind of fluid, fridge in severe need of defrosting. Maintenance average: shaving mirror light not working, wardrobe light not working, kitchenette cupboard doors marginal fit. Would only stay here again if everything else was booked out.

Nights stayed - 3 Family suitability- ✅ Amenities - ✅ Cleanliness- ✅ Staff - ✅ Location - ✅ Upon arrival the check in process was swift. There was one gentlemen who checked us in and we pretty much saw him from morning to afternoon and upon check out. Very friendly and laid back and allowed us to check out late. Rooms were cleaned daily and was immaculate. As we had a toddler making a mess of the room, it was cleaned to a tea whilst we were out during the day. Located in a prime location in the city. Close to all shops and a short walk to Salamanca Markets. There’s also a local market around the corner on Sunday. North Hobart is a short walk up the road for more restaurants. Parking Hacks - Street parking is only 1 Hour from 9am-6pm. As we were out most of the day (Bruny Island, Port Arthur, Wellington Mountain etc) we usually got back after 6 and street parking is free after 6pm. Would we stay here again? Most definitely!

  • MJ Springer

Super straightforward check-in, and service has been felt but not seen which makes the stay feel less touristy. Cleaned daily to a high standard, and no issues . The lifts are setup a little differently with them both being independent. But clean quick and no issues.

Large spacious room with well equipped kitchenette.
Walkability
Easy to get into central Hobart and the water front super easily. Exits to Elizabeth and Criterion streets.
Noteworthy details
Ecru Coffee shop on Criterion street is super close and should be your first call for morning coffee. Great high pressure water pressure, making the rainfall shower a real treat.

Great place. The apartments had everything we needed including a small kitchen area with plates, knives etc. Rooms were nice and had all the amenities you'd expect. Stand out was Lawrence and the team who were super friendly and helpful from the get go. Recommended a few great places to eat and things to do. Even recommended Lobster Shack for our trip out to Bicheno which went and loved. Only thing to note is that as it's in the middle of the Hobart CBD. You will need to sort out parking. The apartments do have limited parking spaces but you will need to book in advance otherwise I'd recommend Arglye cause Sultans parking gets full quickly.

As soon as i had checked in, and checked out my room. I felt compelled to write a review on how my experience had been thus far. With such warm friendly staff hotel city apartments were very welcoming, they were very attentive when i explained my situation and were very quick to accommodate my needs!! My interaction with the staff at reception left me with a smile on my face. I am overly impressed with my room, a clean spacious studio room with a modern boutique feel. The colour scheme in the room feels cosy and stylish topped off with velvet like curtains for a touch of elegance. Highly recommend

The positive: friendly and easy check in. Clear instructions to the parking. Very comfy beds, good size family room that had two double and one single bed. Good internet. Very powerful shower. Fridge, very good location , Smart TV The average: random dining room style chairs in our room not really doing anything but taking up space. the room felt like it was under slight reno as the ceiling was one massive piece of plywood and the walls were quite scuffed/marked. Was quite noisy from the elevator Overall it was good value and was perfect for our family’s needs. The negatives more just observations.

  • Yuhan Liu

Would not recommend, located in central Hobart but as there is not much in the cbd it is a rather inconvinent location. There is no view in the room at all which is a shame, as most hotels in Hobart had either water front or mountain view - whole point of coming to Tasmania: Service was okay but my pillow case left in the hotel was throw in the trash — which wasn’t 100% their fault but never happened to me before. Not too bad but the stay was definitely Not worth what we have paid for.

Best location, easy and friendly check in. Rooms are super nice and very quiet. Only downside is the housekeeping. Also they coming through the room every day, the work they do is super poor. They make the bed, but only fix up the top blanket. The bottom sheet is always wrinkly. I don't know when they used a vacuum the last time in my room. Toilet doesn't get cleaned. It just seems like a 2min visit to the room and that's it. I wouldn't care if it is a cheap accommodation, but it's on the upper end and you can expect a top service for the money.

Hobart City Apartments is centrally located - just next to the main shopping precinct and a few minutes walk to all restaurants and cafes. Salamanca markets was a few minutes walk as well. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Great cafes and bakeries around this place. Rooms were cleaned everyday. New towels and toiletries were given everyday. We will love to come back and will recommend this lovely place to our families and friends.

I picked this hotel as it was one of only a few in Hobart with on-site parking. Booking and check-in were hassle free, and the north-facing twin room met my expectations - freshly renovated and modern. Price was on par with other inner-city hotels and proximity to restaurants and other attractions was great. Despite paying for parking it is non-assigned, so you might get boxed out or parked in by others.

I've stayed here before but not during my latest visit. I came to them to see if I could use their WiFi to set up my GPS for direction to the airport. This would literally take less than 10 sec. They flatly refuse to help and told me to go elsewhere. The Asian girl at reception then took it upon herself to give me a lecture that I should be more responsible for my data service. These people care more about money than other. Stay elsewhere and support people with heart.

Unfortunately we had to leave after the first night because the couch was so uncomfortable to sit on. But ! The man at reception so was lovely and understanding and tried to get us lounge chairs in there He said new lounges are coming and refunded the rest of our trip If they improved their furnishings to be more comfortable it could be a nicer experience But yes service and reception very nice

Great for hikers! I loved the location to all the Outdoor Fitters like Paddy Pallin to restock on hiking supplies. There is a guest laundry so we could process dirty gear before next hike. Truly adequate kitchen to indulge in a home cooked meal after a long week on the trails. Close to Woolworths. We stayed here twice, between and after hikes we liked it so much. This Apartment block has just had a full refurbishment so is lovely and fresh!

  • Sibongi

Stayed here early December during our vacation to Tasmania. The rooms are clean and we were fortunate to have it serviced daily. Modern facilities e.g a bidet in the restroom . The lounge area is not as big as their advertised pictures (photography angles ) but not too tiny either. There is limited basement parking, make sure to book in advance as street parking is quite a hussle. Overall, we had a lovely experience.

Room was but a mere resemblance of the online pictures, the apartment was old and tired looking and had the smell of cheap carpet cleaner or something, but it was acceptable, if you’re not too fussy which I am, I initially stayed at The Luxury Collection which was amazing

I have attended Rasti seminars online, found so many useful insights about property market, he has abounded knowledge of property market, he shared many tips what to do before putting my feet into the property market. I find his knowledge is worth considering if anyone who is beginner as well ready to buy property.
