This place has somewhat taste worthy food and decent pricing for lunch. The food is very consistent. I have only one issue but to me its a big issue. I have noticed that they only sell egg rolls in orders of four for $7 bucks. Now this may sound ok right, so what's the problem?? Well the problem is. I don't want want four egg rolls. I only want one maybe two. Can you believe they wont sell one egg roll. So, they'd rather not sale any??? The issue is they know that most people like Egg Rolls, its part of the experience. I don't like being forced to do anything. But lets look at the money they're losing. I know I'm not the only one that does not want 4 egg rolls every time I come here. lets say they sold 1 for $1.50 cent. and they sell at least 10 a day. That's $15 a day and $450 a month. That's $5,400.00 annually on top of how ever many people choose to buy 4 for $7 dollars. Throwing money away because they want to Jedi mind trick you into buying what you don't need. Id rather go somewhere where I'm not penalized for only wanting one. Blessing blockers!!!

I ordered delivery from Hot Wok Cafe, and was very happy with the results. I'd initially been planning to order from a different restaurant, but they had "normalized" the names a bit. (What Chinese restaurant doesn't have chicken lo mein on the menu?) Hot Wok had higher ratings, so I took the plunge. (Hot Wok's website looks like it hasn't been updated since 2005, but it has pictures and good descriptions and worked, so not actually complaining.) The delivery order showed up exactly at the time I requested. The food was hot and in well sealed plastic containers. (Definitely recyclable, possibly reusable.) We didn't order the most exciting dishes, so I can't really comment on the flavors. But the chicken lo mein tasted as it should. The other dishes were solid as well. Most importantly, the fortune cookies were crisp but not stale. (And mine promised a very bright future.) I'll definitely be ordering from Hot Wok Cafe again. (And now that I've confirmed the basics are good, will likely branch out to something more interesting.)

I was starved... I was desperate for some comforting Chinese food... my previous dinner plans for the evening had been foiled... and I'm a fairly busy and regularly tired toddler-parent. That's a pretty decent setup for having fair and lowered expectations. Regardless, this restaurant fell so flat for me. The "crispy" salted squid/calamari was grossly pale, soggy, and flacid. Its flavor had potential but they should omit the word crispy from their menu. The lo mein had a "raw" soy sauce flavor vs a stir-fry caramelization. The fried shrimp was fine but meager for its pricing. The only thing that was a little enjoyable were the fried wontons (with ground chicken). Perhaps we ordered the wrong things but those are pretty standard Chinese cuisine staples. Will not likely be trying this restaurant again. Just drive a little farther up the street to Chi's Chinese to avoid disappointment.

Utterly shameful and embarrassing quality of service. Told my order would take 20 minutes only to arrive and find out it would take another 3 hours. I cancelled on the spot and thought I was done with it. But then I receive a call 4 hours later with some lady screaming at me over the phone, asking why I haven't picked up my order yet. When I explained what happened, that I had already cancelled my order several hours before it was even started, she said 'whatever' and ignored me until I hung up and called back. I'll have to call back tomorrow just to make sure they didn't charge me because I never got an answer. Busy day, I get it. But the attitude is unacceptable and I won't be ordering from this place ever again. As I said, utterly shameful and embarrassing.

I've been a customer for many years, but Hot Wok Cafe has recently gone seriously downhill. After a recent bad experience, I thought I'd give them a second chance today. Nice looking TV pictures of menu items ... I ordered a luncheon special ($12 .... versus $7 a few years ago). Got a small plate of very uninspired, flavorless chop suey and a small bowl of white rice and a small, tepid soup. I usually consume everything put in front of me .... but not this time...I left over half! There must have been a management or ownership change .... they won't get a third crack at me!

This place is one of best places to eat in Reseda. Ever since I moved to Reseda about 6 months ago, I've been trying every random restaurant I come across, and sadly, most of them are not very good. Just very average. Not so here. The food is excellent, and the lunch special, at $7.99 (as of June 2018) is an absolutely steal. You get tea, rice, fried wontons, soup, and a full entree for the price. (Served until 4 PM -- including weekends!!) I come home full and with enough food to eat nearly another full meal. It's one of the best deals around. The service is attentive and friendly. I have nothing to criticize!

I have been coming here for more than 10 years and am finally getting around to writing a review after my most recent visit. If you go at lunch time, they have many specials to choose from which come with soup and rice. My favorite items are the Beef Lo Mein and Kung Pao Chicken. On cold days or when I'm feeling sick, I usually get the Wor Wonton Soup to go. The staff always gives me good ideas of what to order on the menu and the food always comes out fast. Whenever I'm in the mood for Chinese food, this place always is my first choice.

Good service and ice cold beer.... but literally that's the only reason to go here! Miso was cold and basically French onion soup.. rolls were too covered in Sriracha and spicy sauce to eat while the other roll was overfilled with jalapeño (I normally enjoy spicy food btw), veggies in roll were stale/ water logged and actual fish was bland, did not taste fresh. Baked avocado was less than appealing. Regret paying for this horrible meal never returning or ordering!!!

I have not been to this Chinese Restaurant in many years, it was pretty good back then. I went last night and the service was impeccable. Jenny our server was on point. She poured water, sake and beers for me. She even boxed up our food to go. Unlike other places where they just hand you your box. The food was good, fresh especially the Orange Chicken. I will be going back and so will you.

The food is excellent but I'm giving this rating for the service. Out for dinner with my sons and everyone else around us was being taken care of except us. I had to signal to our waiter to get service. As people were leaving they were told good bye, we weren't even acknowledged. Unfortunately we won't be going back and it's sad because this was always our go to for take out or delivery.

From the moment you walk into this place you are greeted by friendly staff. Lots of smiles. Great luncheon menu selection, drinks and more. They also serve wines. You can host group meetings, get together with friends and family. Easy to get to via Metro Bus Line 166, 240, 744, 167 in the Vons supermarket lot. The food is excellent and so are the prices. Many customers speak well about it. Needs a bit of improvement in the restrooms throughout the day.

The remodel of this restaurant is so great! It's been a little bit since we were last here and it was very traditional Chinese restaurant decor previously. It's modern, bright, and feels spacious now. The food is just as delicious and perfectly prepared as before and reminds us why they've been a staple in Northridge for so many years. Lunch special: Mongolian Beef with Hot and Sour soup Vegetable Pan Fried Noodles add tofu

Just stopped in here at 9:05, right after they closed. The neon “OPEN” sign was still on, so I walked in and they told me they were actually closed, but as I was walking out, they called me back in and took my to-go order and apologized since the sign said “open”. They were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious!

Last evening my wife picked up for take home. I'm not sure what happened here, but the food seemed noticeably different and tastier...better quality. I think since Pagoda Inn has closed, this place has has taken the new lead for "best in neighborhood". We had happy family and chinese chicken salad. Thanks for a nice meal! Pricing was reasonable as well.

  • Andrea Burman

I’ve been a regular customer of Hot Wok for years and they are always so nice and accommodating. Their Beef with String Bean is my favorite, and I love their Happy Family as well. I’m usually not a fan of Orange Chicken, but they do a great job with it. The chicken itself is very good, and their flavorings work beautifully.

Really great Chinese food in the valley, coming from a Chinese family who frequents Alhambra and San Gabriel for decent Chinese cuisine. The fish filet with ginger and green onion is absolutely delicious over rice. Also try their seafood hot pot and shrimp with lobster sauce. The orange beef is actually done really well.

  • Art Yang

This place is great for authentic tasting Taiwanese dishes. They cater to both Asian and American communities. So menus in English and Chinese. Good food. I love the steamed fish filet, 3 cup chicken is a solid dish for friends that aren’t down for traditional asian fare. The wait staff is friendly. Service is great.

I Ordered from this Chinese Place tonight my original Go to was closed called Chi's Chinese which is amazing. We ordered the beef and broccoli, it was awful, not sure what kind of meat this was, but it was not beef. The shrimp appetizer was bad also. The lo mein noodles were bland. I won't eat here again.

  • Esther Del campo

The kung pao three flavors is not flavorful, not spicy and and no salt. The egg Foo young with chicken was tasty but not salty, which is good of you don't eat salt. Might go back and try one more time...hmm maybe it needs a little more garlic. I don't know, not great but not too bad either …

We always order by phone and pick up to take home. The order was taken by a young girl of about 12 years old. She told me the bill would be $56 and some change. When I picked up the food, the bill was $62.09. I did not want to argue with a

Reason for 3☆☆☆ This is always our place for Chinese food. All dishes were very good except the cashew chicken. Cashew were burnt #:( therefore making the chicken taste funny. Should had order the 3 cup aromatic chicken, always delicious.

I'm picky with Chinese food but this restaurant is the best I've ever had. There's plenty of sauce and it's not watered down or tasteless like most places. I recommend it and I will order from them on the future. Great job!

First I would like you to know that I am originally from Brooklyn NY, and I know what great Chinese food is! I relocated to the San Fernando Valley, CA where I lived for over 20 years, and now I live in the Dallas TX area.

Bless the staff for their patience. I witnessed some of the rudest patrons while I was here. Saw too many geezers touching things they shouldn't have. Food was amazing.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the valley. It's a small family run, hole in the wall restaurant. I have dined here for years and it never fails to provide consistently great food and service.

  • Peter Carniglia

Lina did such a great job getting my order together! And it seems the portions are more generous, the quality very high on everything. This is the place we should be supporting during these tough times.

I really like Hot Wok, they have something for everyone. Authentic three cup chicken for me, and then lunch specials for the western palette. Good, cheap, friendly service. Happy to go here every time.
