I have been here multiple times. My roommate and I were impressed - the food was delicious and the place looked very clean. It had become our favorite place to grab a gyro sandwich or a salad when the urge hits. Last week, we decided to go for salads instead of cooking ourselves dinner. The gentleman making our salads used his bare hands, but I have worked in food service and assumed he had been properly washing them. I could not have been more wrong. We got home, I was sitting on the couch with my face near the to-go container so I didn't spill anything as I ate. Lifting a fork full of food to my face, an extremely long piece of onion caught in my fork popped up from under a piece of lettuce and smacked me in the inside corner of my left eye. I grabbed a napkin and dabbed at it, felt no stinging from the onion and so carried on. Fast forward 36 hours later and my left eye has swollen shut, and is weeping uncontrollably. When I can pull it open it is red as the fires of hell. I go to my doctor to get it checked out and am told I have "epidemic keratoconjunctivitis." An eye infection caused by a particularly nasty family of viruses. I am told by my doctor that I am highly contagious and should not be in public or around people until it resolves, which may take as much as two weeks. So far, I have missed 3 days of work, a paid weekend music gig, and had to pay my doctor. All of those things included the current price of the salad I purchased Tuesday comes out to over $500, and the infection isn't gone yet. I will not be returning to this location. Obviously proper sanitation and food handling is not a priority at this restaurant, despite how excellent their food tastes. This is the first $500 salad I have ever had in my life, and it wasn't any better than the usual 8.99 they charge.

House of Gyros has a decent gyro, and so far is the best gyro I've had in the Nashville area, although I've only sampled a few establishments in the area so far. I am somewhat spoiled due to living in the Chicago area, where there even the bad gyros are pretty good. I stop in here every few weeks, and am always happy with my food. The service is reasonable and usually on the friendlier side. One thing of note the gyro plate. It included only one pita, sliced in to quarters. In the past in establishments in Chicago there were usually at least two unsliced pitas included, and enough meat to fill them both. I wouldn't consider it a negative, just something to be aware of, and it could be a regional thing. I gave three stars based on the overall food experience, in comparison to restaurants in general, not in comparison to other establishments in the same price range /expected dining experience. Rated against only its peer I would give it a 4 star rating.

Have been coming here since 2017. Best Gyro I've ever had and my favorite restaurant in Nashville. I definitely do not have a Greek pallet, so my order is far from traditional. Their "build your own" style bar lets you make it just the way you want it. (I get the Gyro with cheddar, feta, ranch, and jalapenos) Their pita is fluffy and soft, and the Lamb is seasoned/cooked to perfection. My parents do not like Lamb, so they get the Chicken and Beef instead, all of them are great. My girlfriend is vegetarian and gets the Falafel, which she says is the best she's had. Portions are huge, so beware you will want a nap once you leave. All of the employees are family or friends of the family and you can tell they love what they do and want to be there.

This place is incredible! My partner and I have been patronizing these wonderful people for over two years and have never had a bad experience! Their kitchen is FAR cleaner than most of the other similar types of restaurants I've been to in all of the Nashville area. They slow cook their gyro meat and then sear it when you order. Flavor is excellent, portions are very generous, and the family that runs the place are some of the most pleasant and friendly people. I can't recommend this place strongly enough. We love eating here so much that our weekly visit is literally a line item on our household budget!

Great customer service. Restaurant employees all thanked me for coming. The food was delicious, well seasoned and just right. If I had had a place like this close to home, I would go there frequently. I got the grilled chicken plate with rice, salad, and pita. When I called in my order, the lady on the phone asked if I wanted everything on my salad and then went over each item on the phone to ensure I got my meal the way I like it. You should definitely go! I highly recommend the grilled chicken plate. I'll visit again when I am in the area. You should visit too.

Absolute best Gyros in Nashville, best I've had anywhere that I can remember! Restaurant is exceptionally clean and the staff are very efficient and kind. The fries are magnificent and I tried a Philly cheese steak last night, they put it on a pita and it was fantastic! I live nearby and have been going in almost once a week for nearly a year, and the only minor issue I've ever had is that they forgot the tzatziki sauce on the side, and I know if I had been paying attention and asked they would've happily rectified it. They do not skimp on meat or veg at all, best value in town!

Service was wonderful! The food delicious! We were visiting from out of town on the way to the Opry and I googled Greek near me and so thankful House of Gyros came up. Service was excellent. The young girl at the counter was very helpful with us ordering. And the food was delishious. When in Nashville and you want some good Greek food go check them out.

Update 2022: I don't get the chance to come here often, maybe a few times a year, maybe once in a few years. Every time I come, the service and the food is great. I think it's been the same guys taking care of me and making the food for what feels like 10+ years. A real gem and one of the places saved on my shortlist of favorite places to go. Review from 2012~ish: Love it! Clean restaurant and they really care about the quality with great customer service. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Greek food.

The place could use some tlc with the decorating and environment but the food and service is amazing. The food is always fresh and fries are always hot. The workers are always joyful and knowledgeable about what they’re cooking. I actually went in today about 8 minutes before they opened and the guy was cool enough to go ahead and make my combo and served it with a smile. I actually had my food before they opened. Fast, polite, and good food and they won’t charge you for extra sauce. What more could you want?

We have never had a gyro. On this planet for almost 30 years and never had one. We ordered a couple of gyros for dinner one day just to try something new. Went to house of gyros.... now its a weekly delight. House of Gyros has become part of the weekly schedule. Cant get enough of their food. Tried some other place down the road and it was no where even CLOSE to how good House of Gyros is. Don't be fooled by the area its in. Don't be silly. Don't wait around. Go. To. House. Of. Gyros.

Upon googling restaurants in the area, Greek popped up. House of Gyros was on the list and by the second picture of food from other customers, I was sold. There was no question if the food would be good or not. Once I placed my order, it was roughly 5 minutes and it was ready, fully cooked and excellent tasting!! I'm here in Nashville for training and will be for the next 3 weeks, so they'll definitely have my business again. 5 stars isn't enough to rate how pleased I was with the food and service.

This place is awesome!! Not only is the food great.....but the people are terriffic! I had some family come in from out of town to have dinner with me. The people at House of Gyros were more then accomadating. We stayed after we ate and talked. No one ever made us feel like we had to leave since we were done eating. The woman that was working was so sweet. A very family oriented place too.

I'm going there once a week and always feel happy and satisfied. I'm ordering the chicken plate with onions and peppers. It comes with side of yellow amazing rice and salads and pita bread. It's so delicious and fresh. They make the chicken same moment and not like other places that keep them for couple of hours just to save time. The staff are nice polite and the place always clean and smell good.

Best Gyro's in the state of Tennessee for sure, a TRUE hidden gem, haven't had anything near the gyros where I'm originally from (Chicagoland area) and these are up to par if not better. Also feel free to try the homemade cheesecake and baklava, best I've ever had as well! Don't pass it up, it's kind of tucked away in a plaza just a few miles from the airport.

Man. I've had this type of food before at other places, but it's just not THIS good. This place has fresh veggies and the steak platter that I got was amazing! Fresh tasty food. Me and my gf was around $20 bucks. A little pricey but was well worth it. You get tons of food and its the best gyros place I've ever been too. Go here. You won't be disappointed

$18 for gyro plate with extra meat. Received a gyro plate with meat. For $4 less up the street you receive far more food, and more veggie options. Their rice is arguably better here. But for 18 bucks, there better be a mound of meat on this plate.

My husband and I both loved the gyro plate. The gyro meat was delicious. We also loved the rice and the salad. The cucumber sauce was so yummy. The bread was grilled and hot. We have been searching for a good place to have gyros near us. The staff was very friendly and had our food ready quickly. We live in Mt Juliet and will definitely be back.

I have been coming to this place for over a year. I have never been disappointed with the food or the service. I recommend this place every time someone wants gyros.

this is the best gyro restaurant in the city. I've been to tons of gyro places in nashville and these guys just do it better than all the others. get the barbecue gyro sandwich with grilled peppers, onions and cheese. it is transcendent. I have literally never had a meal here that wasn't fresh, hot and cooked to perfection. good service too.

This will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be my FAVORITE gyro place. So REAL!! The owners are very friendly. I believe it's a real family run business. They want you to be happy. They actually care if you like what you order. The serve you amazing portions and its healthy. It's the first place I suggest when anyone asks what's good in our area.

I love this place so much. We have been going to this restaurant for 3 years and I have never had a bad meal nor had to wait longer than 10 minutes. I love the chicken plate and salad! This is also one of my daughter’s favorite places. The people are always friendly and it’s one of those local businesses you want to thrive!

Great place. The food is so so good, the place is spotless and the people are just so nice. The gyro platter is amazing as are the gyro sandwiches. I am looking forward to going back and trying some of the other things on their menu. Definitely try this place if you want one of the best gyros in Nashville.

The store needs to be redone. The booths are cracked and torn. The place was fairly dirty in my opinion, from the tabletops and seats to the floor. The staff was very friendly though. The food was ok but not great. I wouldn't go back here if I was in town again so I cannot say I would recommend this place.

Food is always great and fresh!! The personality of the store is a little too quiet and dull but there is a big screen television and you can hear yourself speak unlike most places. They are very quick and efficient when preparing food and they keep the table areas clean.

This place is always wonderful. The staff is friendly and the gyros are delicious. It's a perfect spot to satisfy your craving. My favorite is the gyro salad which comes with pita bread & a side of falafel. Grab some takeout on the way home. You will not be disappointed.

House of Gyros is my jam! This is my second time having their cheeseburger. It is the best cheeseburger in Donelson! One of the guys told me their beef is not frozen! The staff is always friendly! I look forward to getting my next cheeseburger. Thank you House of Gyros!

Some of the best falafel around. Every time I come to Nashville, I try to stop here. It's not often enough. The food is great. The fries are perfectly seasoned. The cucumber sauce is amazing. And the prices are super reasonable. It's just a nice little spot to eat at.

The House of Gyros is a regular haunt for me. The staff is friendly, the service is very fast, and the food is great. Come hungry because the portion sizes are very generous. I recommend the gyro plate or salad, but you could even get a burger if that is your thing.

The Gyros' are great, but their Cheese Burger Combo is the best. This fat, juicy burger comes with more fries than I can eat and a soft drink. As far as I'm concerned, their burger is so much better than any $15 gourmet burger. I spent a total of $7.95.

By far best gyros in town! Restaurant is always clean, staff is always super friendly, and the food is always hot and delicious!! There is another gyro place closer to my house but I would rather drive a little farther to get better quality food!

The staff was friendly, great menu and the food was incredible! I had the gyro with a Greek salad and tabouli salad. The lamb was tender and seasoned very well. That was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Highly recommend!

I'm a pretty picky eater so I get a basic chicken gyro but it's very delicious. I'm also a sucker for their fries which are probably frozen but are perfectly cooked and seasoned. BEST PART: you get a great portion of food for your $.

The food was incredible! Fresh, hot, quick and delicious. The owners were so kind and really cared about their customers. The falafel was perfect. We were on our way from Texas to Philly. We will come back through again!

Locked the doors in our face at 10 mins to 7pm. We stood there is disbelief so they opened them and told us we could only have a gyro and fries. We walked out so I can't rate the food but the service was terribly rude.
