This was the first time that my family and I have visited this beach. It is a decent beach that you can drive your car on. I liked that we could park on the beach and set up our beach stuff right by the car. There was no searching forever for parking and then walking blocks to get to the beach. Nope. You and your car are right there. A lot of people had their tents up. Some people were BBQ-ing. People had their music on but was respectful of others by not blasting it. Most of the time people were very mindful of kids and people walking as they would back up their cars or drive off. The water looks way better at this beach than it does at JAX Beach. It isn't crystal clear of course but it is just a bit better than JAX. Now let's get down to business. We went on a Sunday and there were a lot of people already there up and down the beach. Rows of cars almost like a parking lot with driving areas in between the rows all the way almost up to the water. If you aren't use to seeing all of those cars on the beach, it will take a moment to get use to it. It isn't bad. It is just different. Some advice is to get there early if you plan to stay a few hours. The tide comes in super quick. We got there at 1pm. We had to move our car and belongings once only because we left from closer to the water but not the closest to all the way to the point of almost softer sand area. We stayed there until about 6pm when finally we had no choice but to leave because the water was starting to reach the back tire of our car. By then many people were leaving not only because they were closing soon but because many people didn't have a 4 wheel drive to drive on the soft sand and not get stuck. Overall, it was a good experience. Now we know to get there earlier and park "in the back" so we won't have to run away from the tide by end of the day. I would recommend this beach for families and friends to load up the car and have fun without worrying about having to haul it a couple blocks to the beach on foot or spending a lot of time searching for a parking spot.

We just returned from a 4 day camping trip here. We LOVED it! We camped in our little 22' Toyota Winnebago. They now have electricity at every campsite. We were lucky enough to have glorious cool days and didn't need our AC. We did turn on a little ceramic heater as it did dip into the low 50's once. So nice to have electricity. No neighbors with noisy generators! Day and night you can watch the marine traffic pass right in front of you. We were in campsite G, right on the St. John's River. The campsite map online makes the spots look small, but ours was more spacious that how it looked on the map. We had our "own" little strip of beach for swimming or fishing. Right on our little strip of beach, there were some concrete pilings leftover from something that was likely destroyed in a storm. Not a problem for us though. Lots of our camp neighbors stayed up late into the night, fishing off their respective strips of beach. We watched sea turtles, porpoises, helicopters, airplanes, cruise ships and freighters. Lots to look at. Clean bath houses. Dump station and potable water available near the bath houses. Next time we'll bring our bikes as everything is kind of spread out. We live in St. Augustine and were looking for a nearby place to "get away." What a great find this place is! I suspect it's pretty mosquito-y in warmer weather. We also saw some "no-see-ums". We lucked out though with cool breezy weather that mozzies don't like much. Also, watch out for sand spurs!

This was such an amazing beach! A most see park, my suggestion if to be there really early, because the line to enter can get ridiculously long real quick. We got to the park around 9 am on a Sunday morning. There were only two cars in line. We were able to secure a really good spot on the beach for our two cars, our tent, and our grill. In this beach park you can go to the main huge beach, or go to the more mellow beach to the side, and also you can set up your camp site if you reserved the spot. We had a really great time, the weather was perfect, the water was a bit on the cold site, but that was to be expected. Not summer yet! They have a couple of portable bathrooms within 2 minutes walk from the entrance to the beach. The beach and places around are well taken cared of. You have to pay to get in, and if you are a Military Veteran, then you only pay have the price. Entrance is not very expensive (I can not remember exactly how was it was.) Also, the have food carts that come by and park by the cars for the day, so you can buy different foods here. Beautiful beach!

We traveled to Jacksonville for a week to do testing at the Mayo Clinic for a transplant. The evaluation was over on Friday. We checked out beaches close to Jacksonville on Google. The beach and park looked really nice so we headed out on Saturday morning. We really lucked out. There were beautiful white sandy beaches that you can drive on. On the back side of the park the ocean water was very calm. We could walk way out into the ocean because of sand bars just below the water. It was mid October the sun was out and the temp was a perfect 82. I spent the day on the sand bars fishing while the better half looked for shells. The only bad thing to happen was we ventured off the packed sand and got the rental car stuck. It wasn't just stuck we had it buried up to the axles lol. Fortunately some guys with a 4x4 truck pulled us out which made me miss my lifted 4x4 truck at home. All in all it was a great day and I would recommend Huguenot Memorial Park to residents and visitors alike. I believe it's the nicest beach in the Jacksonville area!

Huguenot Park is another place on my favorites list in Jacksonville. I enjoy the early morning tide for fishing and for the surf. The landscape is laid beautifully by the sand dunes and scrubs of vegetation. The park has a information center at the front gate. There are public restrooms and showers nearby the park concession stand(wheelchair accessible). Children have a small playground to enjoy and parents can reserve shelters or camping space for extended stay. Wildlife is common in the area but not extremely dangerous. Across from the park is a scenic view of the Naval Station. The lake area is best for family events due to the shallow water (3-4ft). I would advise beach goers to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get the full Huguenot experience.

Great spot for an overnight or weekend. BUT, my site had a foot deep of sugar sand. As I pulled in, the car sank and was immediately stuck! No big deal for me, Im from Florida and know this routine. STOP, do not spin the tires so as not to dig it deeper in! To the trunk, I keep a USArmy trenching tool for this very occasion. Three digs and three tries and Im out. I was heading back out to the store, so stopped around back for three large sheets of cardboard. Brought those back, made a cardboard driveway and Voila! No issues in nor out. Be prepared for the No Sees also. Bad at Dusk and Dawn. It is a Port, so expect noises from ships. The birds will get you up just after Dawn so hope you are an early riser.

Enjoyed our stay very much! 3 nights. Fishing was enjoyable. Lots of spots to fish from shore. See pics. Campsites have electricity, but no water! There is a potable water station to fill containers, but you better fill your fresh water tank before you come or bring a long hose to use theirs or multiple trips with your container. They have bathrooms and showers for the campers. No shade here , this is a coastal barrier island. You cN drive on the beach most of the year. But if you get stuck your on your own. There are lots of signs to warn you. Watch out for the tide change from low to high, you can be under water before you know it. Pay attention and youll have a great time.

One of our favorite camping locations! We loved the fact we could drive our truck on the beach and unload all the beach gear (tent, chairs, toys,...). After 7 pm the beach is close to the non-campers so basically it was empty with few exceptions of other people walking on the beach. No hotels on sight so you get a secluded beach except for the right end of it where is the port terminal and from time to time ships are coming in and out. There are only two draws, first, there is no water connection available on site. You need to use the fill-station nearby showers, and second the pesky mosquitoes on the campsites. For us, definitely will visit again!

Overview: Great place to spend a day. Fishing, camping, or just lying on the beach. Clean with lots of room to spread out. The summers here can get a bit crazy, but that is with all the parks in this area. What to know: You can tent camp and RV camp. You can fish, but I'm not sure about how pets work. There is a sign in front that says no pets. I would call and check. An excellent area located in between the beach and river to swim. Also, a small but very cool nature center to visit when open. A butterfly garden and a playground. There are full bathrooms with showers too.

My ideal getaway. Beautiful family beach and open beach. Overnight campsites, picnic areas, playground area, 4 wheeler area, wildlife, and scenery to enjoy. It is a wildlife preserve so maintain your distance and stay off the dunes but it is very spacious with parking on the open beach side. Portions are still closed from the past hurricanes but most of it is accessible. The only drawback & safety issue to me is fishing is allowed on the beach which I feel should be done on the jetty side (where the boulders are). Beautiful clean sandy beach with clear water.

This place is awesome! Went on a Saturday morning around 11 and the family beach wasn't even half full. I did not try the actual beach because I came for the paddleboarding. The protected bay is a great place to practice standing and paddling. The water was very smooth. The current was a little strong, but I don't have much experience with paddling. The gate attendant was very friendly and helpful! It's annoying that the beach is not dog friendly. Tried to go a different weekend while we had the dog, arrived, and got rejected by the no dogs signs.

Very crowded on the weekends. Traffic is very busy. I recommend visiting during the week if you like quiet and peace. Don’t recommend on weekend and holidays.. park is quite abandoned not enough maintenance… the park is making a ton of to be in this shape. Is not acceptable. They claimed that they want to keep it natural… Wright… know the beach is very nice. I go again but on weekday. The shower water has a rotten smell to it. Know I fill my rv fresh water tank and that water was very good and clean… so I shower in my camper.

This place is great! It only cost $5 a vehicle. It has showers and bathroom on site. My favorite part is you drive right on the beach. Yup! No lugging tons of things to your perfect spot. You just ride to your spot and unload. The only thing I would suggest is more bathrooms closer to the beach. You do have to walk a bit if you are not near the entrance. They have portapotties (which I hate), but surprisingly it was clean and smelled nice inside. I still hate them though. My bf drove me to the regular bathrooms past the campsites lol.

Only $5.00 to enter by car for us to spend a lovely afternoon in an area of exceptional Florida beauty. This park has so much to offer. The campground is spread down the entire peninsula and it is beach camping at its finest. The view of Mayport Naval Station across the way is endlessly fascinating with all the ships to look at. Here is also one of the rare drive~on beaches in the state. Did you know… I have not parked this close to the ocean since I was a little girl on Volusia county beaches way back in the day!

One of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. Facilities were clean, the water is just incredible on both sides. We stayed in our camper on number 44 and it was a great spot but there's not really any bad spots. There are no see em bugs and stickers in the grassy areas so wear shoes around campground area and bring bug spray. I can't wait to go back though. We did some fishing and got reds, catfish, whiting, lots of bait and crabs and lots of other people were gigging for flounder at night.

Great place to hangout and fish. The first part of the park you do not need 4 wheel drive. Small jungle gym for the kiddos. Still haven’t figured out how the book a camp spot on their website. The 4x4 beach is clean and can be soft some parts. Make sure you track the tides (on the wall when you pay to enter) as you may find all your stuff in the water. Stay of the dunes and don’t touch the birds. They take this very seriously and will call the game warden.

Use caution if you RV camp at 2,4,6,8 have a plan to get unstuck in soft sand. The park staff , while can't tow you they did have wood boards that I was able to get under rear duels and power out. Used my rear jacks to raise the tires to allow the boards.

Best beach in the area for a sunrise! And you can park on the beach!! Had an entrance fee of $5 but completely worth it. Went there early morning hours around 6:30 AM, had a best time till 9AM on a cloudy day. Definitely need a sunscreen once sun is out. Had to keep moving car atleast three times and for around 20 feet as waves keep occupying territory as sun comes out. Very good place for kids to play in water as it’s not steep at all for a distance.

Something came up and we needed to leave the area so we called and asked to cancel our reservation and receive a refund for the money we paid as we were not going to be staying. But was informed that was not possible. Funny how they get to keep your money even if you do not stay. But if you stay an hour past your time you must pay them even more money. (We have not ever done that). Needles to say we will not be camping here ever.

I drove quite a distance to get there. It was a beautiful day. The sand is pretty. The water was as pretty as it could be. I'm from the Virgin Islands so I'm accustomed to seeing my feet in the water. However, this beach was ok, especially in this heat. I had a great time at the Caribbean Splash party. Cool vibes! I like being able to drive on the beach. Be careful parking and driving there. Lots of people got stuck in the sand.

Such a beautiful beach / camp site ! We paid 5.01 usd per car to get in and stayed till sunset ( beach close at 6pm) to catch the beautiful pink sky. We saw lots of pelicans doing the dive catch, sanderlings running in groups like a wind-up toys and of coz the seagulls. The highlight of the park is you can drive up your car till the water edge on this vast flat beach and chill out or fishing which we saw a lot of people doing.

Great family place to pack a cooler and some snacks grab the kids and grandkids and head to the beach to spend the day. You can drive your 4 wheel drive car on the sand and hang out by the calmer water or go play in the ocean. It doesn't cost much to get in which is nice. You pay so much per car and then per person. For a family of four it cost us $7.00 to get in. (Sorry didn't remember the break down)

very clean and nice place, highly recommended to visit. there is place for camping, fishing, swimming and place for families with kids. a huge place, with alot of choices to choose where is the best place for you to sit and have fun. your car is close to you as well. you can find places to barbecue. we had fun and it will be the place we will go every time we decide to go to the beach or a picnic.

Huguenot was a nice place to visit but not that impressive. It got hit hard by hurricanes. We stopped by to drive around the beach and eat lunch. Bathrooms were nice. Campground wasn’t that impressive. Sites were close together and no landscaping between them. Kind of like a sand dune parking lot. The warning signs for the loose sand was nice. Would recommend for a day trip but not for camping.

This is a wonderful park and a $5 admission fee. No pets. Campground and bathrooms. Beach area. A large area of several miles where you can drive 4wd and awd vehicles on the beach. The road to the campground has been washed out and needs repair, I hope the State gets to it, it will eventually be impassable.

This is by far the best drive on beach I've been to. The police presence was kind and nice, which allowed for a safe fun time. The beach was overall clean. Having food trucks on the beach was next level. Also the shaved Italian ice guy, that's nit "shaved ice" it was better and life changing. We will 10/10 come back and camp and visit.

I have been going to Huguenot Memorial Park since I was a little girl. Me and my sister (deceased) would always go behind the rocks on the ocean side and see the other side of Mayport naval base while picking up sand dollars (THEY ARE EVERYWHERE OVER THERE). To say the least, this beach is beyond beautiful and can't wait to go back next summer.

This was our first camping trip with our new airstream. Had a wonderful time. There are no sewer or water hookups so just be aware of that. Beautiful waterfront campsites with fishing and a beach that you're allowed to drive on. Fun time...

Unbelievable that this small park on the beach is so close to Jacksonville! Just off the beltway, the waterfront campsites are spacious and quiet. As a beach walker, I appreciated the miles of undeveloped beach front to get my steps in. Not a soul in site when I visited. Until the morning when I awoke to cadence as the Navy recruits ran by.

There is so much to this park, the fee is $5 to enter. You can drive your car on the beach. There is an inlet great for fishing and children as the water is shallow and gradually deepens. There is a side of the park that faces the river and a outer portion facing the ocean with many birds nesting in the dunes during the peak summer months.

Loved being able to drive and park on the beach. The beach length to the water varies along the park/beach. The water is clean and so calm. There were very few shells, BUT we found a shark's tooth. Our first ever! It was tiny and a treasure. This place is great for new experiences, exploring, wading in the water, fishing, and camping.

Good place to go if you don't feel like hauling a bunch of gear down to the beach. Just park your car and setup right next to it on the beach. We like doing the 'lake' side before the beach for flat water kayaking and paddle boarding. Tidal swings about 40 yards here it seems so don't leave your car parked too close on incoming tides.

I love going to Huguenot ! It's so nice to drive onto the beach and have everything right with you. We like to go to the small part along the river and fish. You need to have 4 wheel drive to go to the river side of the beach but on the main beach we see cars of all types. We have seen several cars get stuck in the loose sand areas.

This place is so cool! Costs only 20 bucks a night to camp and you can drive your vehicle on the white sandy beach! Great sunsets! Be prepared for noise from the shipyard nearby. They have showers and bathrooms. Bring wood because there is no downfall. There is a local outfitter that rents and transports kayaks down there for you.

Beautiful place to camp, fish, beach and just enjoy. Natural environment, they are doing some construction to the roads that have washed out. They have upgraded camp sites with electricity outlets and have added more camp sites on the inlet side. We love this place. You must bring your own food and there are bathrooms on site.

Love that you can drive your vehicle right onto the beach. It truly is amazing. Takes the hassle of having to carry all your stuff down to the water. You just drive to your spot and park. All your stuff is right there with you. Be careful of high tide though. Your car could be turned into a boat if your not careful.

Surfing beach. Beautiful. Not really a family beach because surfers sometimes accidentally can interfere with swimmers due to lack of visibility when surfing. There is however, a wonderful bay area that is great for kids. Picnicking & camping available, but there is absolutely no shade or privacy for camping.

Nice beach and it appears to be a very pretty place to camp. There was a surprisingly long line to enter the park at the point where they collect $5. Sat for 20 min to enter. There is a nice smooth lagoon to do watersports on, there was a person windsurfing. Good viewing of the container ships coming in too.

Great little park, beautiful clean beach , nice place to hang for a while. But be advised that the Mayport Navy yard is right across the St. James River maybe helicopters flying in and out can be a little annoying once in awhile a few Jets and of course there's always a little bit of wind.

The beach, tidal pool, and north jetty of Hug-A-Nut are possibly the most beautiful and relaxing within a hundred miles of coastline. Tent or RV campsites are nice and plentiful. Park staff is friendly. However...those blasted Sand gnats were ferocious directly following the rain.

We love going to this place! You can drive on the ⛱ beach, five people in the truck cost $5.00 to get in. They have bathrooms and showers to rinse off. They also have a playground, and have a place for camping with a tent and plug in places for RV campers. Very clean and nice!

Absolutely love this campaign site! My family and I felt safe. The bathroom and showers are surprisingly clean and the site gives you all you need (electricity, table, and firepit). No water to connect to your camper but again the showers are great so it's all good with me.

I wish me and my Husband can purchase our favorite little camping spot. The only thing that I HATE its NO water hook-ups., And the water pressure sucks in the Showers. The old guy thats a camp hostess is lazy and rude. But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our little jewel on the River.

Love this park. Beautiful and quiet with calm beaches. Great drive on beach and very Nature pavilion with lots of local treasures. Great place to take your family for a nice day trip or an overnight camping trip. Thank You Jolie who guided us on a nature walk.

The campsite was large and right on the river. No water hookups so bring it in and fill your fresh water tank in your RV. The playground for the kids is great. You can drive on the beach with your vehicle. Very relaxing, did some fishing from our campsite.

Beautiful dunes and fun beach driving. Feels remote. Level site, electric and easy access to water to fill our tank. Some helicopter traffic during afternoon but none at night. Clean rest rooms; shower room a little worn but clean and plenty of hot water.

One of my favorite parks to canoe to and park and play. It’s so nice you can park on the beach and not have to walk very far to the water. It also has camping grounds and a way to get there by boat. Enjoy sand bars and finding all the sand dollars

Jacksonville special, for Jacksonville natives and visitors. Awesome place to bring family and friends, beware keep your kids under close watch because people drive on the beach. Lifeguards are there other parents are there. Awesome!

Overall great park but it needs a little cleanup. I'd highly recommend it if you don't mind the winds and the beautiful view of the naval base across the water. My sister loves visiting with us every year and coming to Huguenot Park

Dogs aren't allowed on the beach website said all sites unavailable so we camped elsewhere but the beach is clean water usually smooth and calm for the kids. Seagrass makes for lots of wildlife to find and learn about.

Camping on beach, next to Atlantic, doesn't get any better. No septic, only electric, but plenty of potable water, clean bathrooms and separate showers and a dump station. Well worth the inexpensive cost.

Best beach in Jacksonville! One of the only places in JAX where you can take your vehicle/motorcycle on the beach. This park also offers great camping near the beach and offers beautiful views.

Huguenot Park is beautiful. You can drive your car out onto the beach, just make sure to mind the speed limit, and don't drive like a jerk or through the birds (as they nest on the beach).

Beautiful place to camp and fish. The kids love this place to. Staff is always friendly and helpful . But go early or make camping reservations in advance. They fill up quick.

Amazing place for kite boarding. The nature is beautiful and the sand on the beach is hard so many people bring their 2-wheel drive cars right up to the water's edge.

Miguelito Memorial Park This is one of beautiful parks and nice beach and you can park your cars near to the water You can catch fish. There are a lot of birds there

The family and I had a blast here. Nice not having to park a mile away from the beach and carry all your belongings. Will be visiting again soon.

Took my 3 boys in late August. Water was perfect, saw 30 dolpins on the Mayport side. Had an incredible experience

We had a blast and saw a few dolphins playing in the waves as one of the ships was coming in, the kids loved it!
