Cannot use the computer station to research a book, you need to use your phone and scan their app to know what they have in stock. Less and less books and more and more candles, cushions, gardening stuff and else! Its seems that the upper management is following the trends that are « in » right now, and forget what this store is all about…books!!!! Its use to be a place when you enter….time stand still! You could forget about the outside craziness and be surrounded by people who share the same passion, in a quiet and plaisant environment, and buy too many books just because it made you happy! Now, its dead, boring and feels like you entering a store that sell you « expensive stuff » instead of books! What a disappointment it is!

I'm so sad to watch the downfall of Chapters/Indigo. It went from being a cozy, homey bookstore to The Bay, which I don't understand because The Bay is dying. Why would anybody think turning a beloved bookstore into The Bay would be a good idea? It used to have the neatest products, especially for kids (see: Folkmanis puppets), but now? They moved the kids upstairs, super far from the bathrooms and up the escalator, which some kids find terrifying. And why? To make room for the blankets and throws and robes (aka The Bay). And I get it, you got hacked and your website took a while to get back online. But it's literally 8 months later, and we still can't order from it. Fail messages every time. So, like another reviewer said, we tried to call to see if the articles are actually in stock but nobody answers. Chapters used to have joyful, helpful employees who seemed to love their job. What happened? Late stage capitalism happened. What a shame.

I ordered online for an in-store pick-up. Item was in stock so the availability was very quick. There are dedicated parking spots in front and the process is easy. Pricing is also very competitive. The reason for my 2 stars? The staff were so incredibly rude, the one at the entrance pointing to the red dots you had to stand on to wait on for someone to come and get your order details and the person who went and got your order. You’d think we’re making the extra effort to support a Canadian business during a difficult time rather than just ... buy on a Amazon ... but at least my Amazon delivery driver is pleasant and courteous. Common courtesy is a minimum, I’m not expecting someone to ask me about how my last meal was but at least to say hello, smile and be kind.

Horrible service- Ordered 2 books as gifts- get there to pick them up the girl behind the counter can't work the scanner to find my order. Finally another girl comes to help only to give me half my order. I didn't realize until I got home- I called the Pointe- Claire location- there is no english option... not only that when you press 7 to reach a human, it says invalid option. I called customer service to find out what happened to the second half of my package the girl answers and tells me its at the store when I tell her its absolutely ridiculous that I have to go back in store to get the second half of my package as I live 20 mins away (without traffic!). Instead of offering to ship the item she hangs up! Great SERVICES Indigo!

I love the place! Everyone is usually friendly, but yesterday I had a really bad experience. I was looking for a book. An associate verified in the system, and they had 2 copies on the floor, but I couldn't find any. I ask for help from a floor associate who kept insisting there aren't any left on the floor. I mentioned that her colleague verified in their system, she didn't want to believe me. Her colleague heard us and she confirmed that there should be 2 left. She kept telling me that there aren't any and she didn't want to even look! I had to push her to it, and follow her for her to look, AND SHE FIND THEM!!! Very unprofessional. Kind of disappointing as well.

I had a fantastic experience at Indigo located at 6321 Trans-Canada Hwy, Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9R 5A5. The bookstore is a haven for book lovers, and the ambiance is perfect for leisurely browsing. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, making my visit even more enjoyable. The great selection of books for both adults and kids was impressive. However, it's a bit disappointing that the shop seems to be moving away from its core element, books, as it used to be more book-centric. Nevertheless, whether you're a bookworm or just looking for a cozy place to shop, Indigo is a must-visit for bibliophiles of all ages.

  • Doug F

Hopefully you've noticed by now that Indigo is slowly transforming from a book store to a "things you don't need but you'll buy them at an inflated price anyways" store. Don't believe me? Google it! They've changed their business model and books won't be their main attraction. "Chapters" sounds too much like a book, let's change that to Indigo instead. It's totally unfortunate! I've been going there for DECADES but I can't stand the place now. Instead of feeding your curiosity and mind with knowledge, you can buy a pillow and matching coffee cup with your initial on it.

  • Nicolas Desjardins

Beautiful store which is very clean and inviting. The computers make things very easy to find and friendly staff is always around to point in the right direction. They also have a kids section, things for the home and other surprises. Closing hours are later and that makes for nice evening browsing if you need to find something to relax. You can also find nice sales most of the times and they don't just liquidate the cheap stuff. Overall, great shopping experience. Starbucks is on the second floor so sit sat back and enjoy with some good java :D

  • Maxime Césaire

I had a good shopping experience! I was looking for a precise french comedy book and having asked for a bit of help from the staff, i ended up quickly finding exactly the book I was looking for. At first I was a little miss guided but I asked another employee and the book was quickly found. Their computer system wasn't giving quite the right section for situating the book but the employee found it even though. Big store, x2 floors , great selection to choose from! I recommend Chapters/Indigo. Enjoy your shopping there and thank you!

  • Eric C

Great selection, great service, great staff. Books are mostly in English with very small selection of French on the second floor, next to the Starbucks which has been closed ever since the restrictions for the pandemic started. Indigo has regular rotating sales and staff suggestions which are great to discover new reads. You will definitely find a book in your interest, fiction or non-fiction, with wide selection of young adults and comics, and also stationeries.

  • Jen Alper

Beautiful store, the showcased items are well placed and well chosen. HUGE selection. Non-book items are very nice. Quality items at an affordable price. Baby stuff is quite nice as well, also with a good selection. Layout is intelligent and it's easy to find things. The fact that it is in a large shopping area with a large free parking lot is also a plus. I would reccomend this location over the downtown one due to the easy layout and the free and easy parking.

  • Jason Hutch

I had an order prepared online. Recieved the email for pickup and the order was ready and correct. It was my first order with Chapters and will do it this way again. Surprisingly, I found this store to be very large with a lot of selection and a kids section in the back where you can find games and toys. 1 stop shop for a birthday gift(s). This one (Pointe Claire) even has a 2nd floor. Atmosphere is bright and staff were friendly. All in all a good experience.

  • Adam

As someone who's reading habits have shifted over the years. These days I read mostly manga, and such physically. I've got to say this store is always well stocked, clean, well organized. I've found the staff helpful, and willing to help you find an item if it's the last one in stock. As an English speaker I've never been made to feel like it's a crime to speak this language there. The staff seems to speak the language of money first, and politics second.

  • Melissa Lockey-Chatham

Far too few book stores are around anymore. This chapters is HUGE!!! Amazing selection of books. Has a well stocked area for home goods/novelty items as well, always a good selection of different articles. Kids section is well designed and set up for kids to be able to play with toys and read book with their parent(s). The Starbucks upstairs tends to be a little busy but it's convieniant to grab a coffee and a new favorite book at the same time.

  • Graham J. Layton

Not as expected. No way to search for a book in the store unless you go online. If you have to go online to search for the title then maybe you should order it online! 2 problems with that. 1) you have to bring your smart phone at all times. 2) you have to find store staff which on that day was difficult unless you go to the cashier and ask there. If the focus is now online searches and ordering, why have brick and mortar stores.....

  • Zachary Bergeron

Always clean and not too loud, nice Starbucks cafe upstairs. I have been visiting this Chapters for many years and every time I go I leave satisfied. Sometimes it is a little hard to get help fro an employee if not in the main sections but i blame the customers who are too lazy to even attempt to look for their own books. There are several computers placed in prime locations to help locate books throughout the store.

  • Erika Varkonyi

I ordered a book back in begining Dec 2022. It never got delivered. I contacted customer service multiples times in January 2023 with either no response or one saying they are looking into it. Now on March 5, 2023 I finally get a response saying they are looking into it, but due to the Feb. 8 attack it will take time. I have already been patience enough waiting 3months, now I need to wait more. Super disappointing.

  • divya dwivedi

This store is like an Epiphany , I’ve been around to a lot of stores in Montreal but they have a larger collection of French books , vs Indigo . They keep books from the classics to the latest writers , neatly segregated into staff favourites , classics , new authors , and so many more endless categories. The staff is always ready to help you find a book from their oh sooo many aisles .

  • Melissa Mayoff

If you need to shop for books and all you have are "ideas", Natasha is your girl! I had the pleasure of "shopping" with Natasha recently. By the end of the shopping trip I felt like we were old friends. She showed me several books that my daughter will love just from seeing what she has read and her likes and dislikes. I will definitely be looking for Natasha on my next shopping trip!

  • TB

Great bookstore, my daughter loves coming here. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Huge selection, great promos. I was there a week before Christmas midweek at noonish and the lineup was so long, snaking all the way to the kids section, I figured it would be a 20+ minute wait but management had all the cashes open and I was done in 4 minutes. That's the way to run a business.

  • OFIQ Canada

It was Chapters and now Indigo. Not only selling good books, you can find good collections of gifts for everyone for any occasions (love their mugs), children toys, women bags, and beautiful home decors. We ordered online and chose to pick up the book at the store (so, no delivery fee). We received an email when tp pick up the items in 5 business days. Overall a good experience!

  • Social Media 55

Great supply of books and great coffee. My advice is get yourself to the second floor get a coffee so you can enjoy your time with a nice cup of coffee as you do your shopping. I. Like this store because they have a great variety of books and magazine and most of all they have what I’m looking for. Thank you for the great service and thank you for staying open so late.

  • Alvaro Rivera

I went in during a time that looked pretty busy, but as soon as I went in, I was greeted and asked if I needed help to find what I was looking for. Charlotte helped me find the book I was looking for and I was in and out of there in less than 2 minutes. Excellent service and extremely nice workers. I love this place. 10/10 recommend, they have a book for everyone.

  • Tony A.

It's so much more than a bookstore. You can always find something to gift someone for a special occasion. My biggest irritation with their business model is the constant and never ending specials. Don't get me wrong, I love a good deal as much as the next guy, but if you ever need something that isn't on special, you can't shake off the feeling you're overpaying.

  • gab hug

Great bookstore, they had chairs everywhere few years ago, but they took them out, since I guess they felt people were more reading freely and not buying. My dad would come here almost every weekend for +20years. This store often feels more like a library, and the Starbucks upstairs is very popular. Hopefully this beloved Chapters won't die off soon!

  • Desmond Yu

Feel great to visit the biggest bookstore. It has been a long while since pandemic hit. Buying books on line never match the real experience of seeing, browsing and the touching whatever interesting. Besides, a bookstore is not just a bookstore. It has various dimensions, as far as your imagination will guild you to. It was enjoyable and rewarding.

  • Travis Chalmers

One of the older Chapters stores, this place is still going strong. It makes me sad to see the books being replaced slowly by miscellaneous decor and stationery items, but if that's what's needed to keep this well-stocked chain going then so be it. Update! Still a slow creep of non book stuff. If you need a mug with a slogan, this is your store!

  • Anik S

Great selection of books. Staff is helpful and kind. Store is clean and well kept. Only bummer was that the washroom was closed to the public. When you are shopping books, you need time to look around, I was told to run to the Toys r us next door for the bathroom which I thought was bad customer service considering that we spent over 100$.

  • Greg Monkiewicz

Nice place to browse new books and magazines. I like their extras as well that they have for sale such as their pillows, smart gear, reading accessories and plenty of other knick knacks. They have a nice Starbucks upstairs and a few nice chairs and sofas to sit in while you read different magazines or browse books before purchasing them.

  • Jessica Jones-Dumais

I’ve always loved going to Chapters. It’s always organized and easy to find help when you need it. There’s almost always a long line to wait in at the cash but it moves quick. It’s nice that there’s a good amount of seating around the store. They also have a bunch of events throughout the year that are always fun for the kids!

  • Connie H

Nice selection of books. Two floors worth if shopping. Have even little ideas for gifts so not just books. Starbucks is on second floor, but feels like locals are abusing the policy of taking books with there coffee as they do not put them back or sometimes they just leave them at the table where they were sitting and leave.

  • Cara McCallum

Love chapters!! You can find anything here: books, gifts, games, etc. Staff is always helpful and obliging. Store always has a nice variety of books and gift options. I always leave with a bag of stuff whether I was looking for anything or not. Also, this location has a great selection of liquidation books for good prices.

  • Paul Barron

Great store with a wide selection of books and a great sale at the moment. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. They have a Starbucks if you fancy a coffee. The staff are helpful but not obstructive, they really give off an aura of being book lovers themselves. I love proper bookstores and this is definitely a proper bookstore.

  • Haris Qureshy

Super friendly staff throughout the store. Was astonished to see how friendly everyone was. Don't see that anymore in retail. Good selection of books, just wish they would be competitive with their prices vs Amazon. I bought the Carmelo Anthony book, and wanted to get the Obama book, but it was $22 cheaper on Amazon.

  • Stacey Vos

This is one of my favorite book stores! They have a lot of selection and fun gifts to buy as well. A great place to spend time browsing for your next good read and shopping for a card or gift. You can collect points from your purchases. If they don’t have the book you are looking for you can have it ordered.

  • Joel Charlebois

THE classic big chain bookstore. There can be many people hey it always feels calm and quiet. There is everything you need - a book for everyone you know and everyone you don't know. PLUS! There's a Starbucks Coffee Shop upstairs to prolong your enjoyable stay. Well worth the time spent there! Well worth it!

  • John Dobie

We stopped in to see their English selection of manga and there was a huge selection, it was great. Although the books had a security sticker on the back page that would ruin the books if removed, but I am not sure if that is the stores fault. Still we bought what we came to find and the selection was good

  • Marion Hewel

Great place to find something to read. Safety measures here are good. If you absolutely need to go to the toilet you must ask and it is made available to you. Upstairs you can find a lots of reading material on sale. You can buy three books for $10 great deal! Starbucks is open upstairs with restrictions.

  • Sara Campagna

The store itself is nice, but the Starbucks is gone, the washrooms are VERY dirty and the buttons for wheelchairs are nowhere to be found for the washrooms. Furthermore, the washroom for those needing to pull in with a wheelchair is out of order. Not an accessible place. They have ok sales post-xmas.

  • E LI

Clean and friendly staff. Wide variety of books, gifts and trinkets to fall in love with. It's too bad they removed the coffee shop on the upper level, it would be great if they could reintroduce that back but this does not warrant a removal of a star as the over all experience is still a great one.

  • Sarah Yun Li

Needed a book for my kids school, it shows in stock on their website, but it just won’t allow me to choose “pick up from PC store” for some reason, I wanna make sure they have it before travel there, so I called the store to verify if it’s actually in stock, but the phone never being answered…… :(

  • Fat and Funny

Easily the best chapters/indigo since the one in downtown Montreal closed. The store has just about everything you need and then some. I was really impressed by the store, the staff and the selections. The staff was very friendly and clearly like what they do. **extremely LGBTQ friendly

  • Gabriela Ioachim

Such a wonderful place. Staff is always really nice and helpful and I've never had an issue with them. The Starbucks upstairs can get really crowded and uncomfortable during busy hours, but you can always take your drink and sit at some of the other tables in the book store and read.

  • Francis Marcouiller

What a nice place to window shop! They have so many books, and ataff is not rushing in you to force sales. You really can take time to read books. Enjoy looking at all their products. They also have home accessories toys and board games. These stores are an experience.

  • Nathalie V

It's sad that the name changed, chapter's with the opened book was obvious. My teenager said that indigo makes her think of a place to buy paint. I like the set up inside, well lit and easy to find books. Staff is always very helpful, especially Emma.

  • Elenor Arless

Staff is well organized and bilingual. Lots of space in between aisles. Employees carry fast pay machines so you dont have to wait in line at the front if you're using card. Good atmosphere and well stocked. The Starbucks is also fast and very clean

  • Dayna Faulkner

Great selection of fun home decor, yoga stuff, and clothing. All the great selection of goodies Indigo carries .Clean store ! Great staff members who helped me find my book promptly. The 4 stars is for Starbucks not being in the building anymore .

  • Patrick Seguin

The staff is helpful. The store is clean and organized. For me it's not the best store as far as the range of categories. The fiction section is well stocked but they have little to no choices in classical, philosophical and spiritual literature.

  • Tanjil Akhter (AT)

Fabulous book's store. I went for pick up a book that ordered online. Two storied store nice to explore and know about lots of books authors and publishers. There are also Reader reliable goods, like coffee cups, candles, ️, pencils etc. …

  • TerryG

Love it so much. Warm atmosphere, lovely bilingual staff, amazing selection of books, irresistible gift ideas and sheer heaven for anyone who loves paper goods and writing accessories. Plus comfy seating and coffee shop on second floor.

  • Larry Fagen

Very nice place. Not sure how it happens but I go in there to kill time, and end up spending $100. They have great gifts. I'm not a fan of their books since anything/everything they sell is available in the Kindle store for far less.

  • Jessica Tremblay

Has recently been rearranged and I find it much nicer now. All kids things upstairs. I wish there was still places to sit and read... especially in the kids area. And it really is missing a coffee shop.... Starbucks was the best

  • Florence Ouellet

I always find what I need in books there or online. Their selection of candles is outstanding - lots of canadian finds and a wide variety of scents. I would recommend this place for gift finds just as much as book and art finds.

  • Me l

I will always call it CHAPTERS. We need another coffee shop upstairs with Christmas decoration during winter and Halloween decorations during autumn. Please stop making it look all cold modern and ugly like the Indigo in laval.

  • N F

I had given a 5, now a 1. Hard to find an employee on the floor, when you find one they tell you to use the app. The store is 3/4 deciration. When I walk into a book store, I want to find books kitchen items or fake plants

  • Tanya Yankowsky

I love Chapters! What a wonderful place to spend an afternoon!! Amazing deals, friendly staff, HUGE liquidation section...not to mention activities and children's authors' readings every day during March Break!!

  • Ushma D

It's out of the way but I m glad they are still around for anglophones. All thr book stores in montreal only carry French books and it's a turn off. Parking is available, helpful staff, easy to find my books.

  • Robert Pitre

Great variety of books and printed material. Various price ranges. A little disappointing that the BBQ section was so very limited. No books at all regarding flat plate Bbq's. Great customer service as usual.

  • Terina McLaren

Awesome as always! The lineup was long but all cashiers were on duty and a person up on a ladder directing waiting customers to the next cash available, very efficient. Well done, keep up the great work!

  • Mark Maceluch

Love books, they also have a few items like coffee mugs, tea, some bed linen and cozy sleepware to curl up in on the sofa, couch, or bed. Gota love the kids sections also. Staff always helpful and kind.

  • Jorge Luna

I love the variety on these stores... but this one lacks screens to search the location of any item and we spent a lot of time looking for the right section for the book my little one was looking for.

  • amy-grace pizzuco-ennis

Went there yesterday to get some candles and I ended up buying some books on sale! Super aesthetic place, I jammed to their Playlist a lot:) Staff was also very nice especially at the cash

  • Yannicke Himbeault

Honestly my favorite place to go the smell of books ...so many things to see ...I used to go as an outing with the kids when they were young to this day ...we enjoy it so much …

  • melissa campbell

Big selection of books, don't like that they removed Starbucks upstairs because now there's now lounging area to have a drink and read... beautiful stuff they have in there though.

  • Red Bear's Lawn Care

I think this place is wonderful. They have a little of everything and not just books. I go shopping for toys in their toy section. See what else they have. You might be surprised.

  • Alyssa Teixeira

Staff is always super helpful and they play great browsing music. I love finding new titles to treasure. And I found a stuffed egg with a face. Come on what's not to love

  • Maitrayiee

Great store, has a lot of selection of books as well as various accessories. The second floor seems bare compared to the rest of the store. Wish it had a coffee shop too.

  • Delia Dyer

Amazing store. They had a large variété of books. Two floors so it is a big store. I love the fact that they have a baby section. You can get pretty much anything there .

  • JEr G

Nice clean store, great place to spend a couple hours. Slightly dissapointed in the ever expanding toy section, takes attention away from picking out a book with my kids.

  • Félix Dubois-Robert

This is my favorite store ! Can't go there without buying a thing or two. Books, decor, office supplies and more. I simply love it there. Staff is super friendly. 10/10

  • Michel Desjardins

Great bookstore for English books in Montreal West Island. Also great place to find gifts for adults and kids. Not a good store for French books. It's very limited.

  • Matthew Olsthoorn

This is the biggest bookstore in the west island. Great selection of items and great staff. There's a selection of toys and games as well. Great for gift ideas.

  • Sheila Southon

Classics and new popular books, most in English but some en français aussi. And like all bookstores is pivoting to sell other cool things. Friendly staff too.

  • Sam van der Walde

Great location! Always clean and the service is fantastic :) Nancy in particular is very knowledgeable and friendly. Always ready to give a recommendation!

  • Wasteful Maximizer

It's pretty neat. I like the layout and the staff are nice. The mangas and light novels should be separated though and preferably in alphabetical order.

  • Hilary L. Archer

Love this store. The staff are always ready to help or suggest. And the play area for young kids is really cool. Sadly. No more Starbucks upstairs.

  • dale mino

I usually drive my woman there for her books and she always leave with at least 3 books the service personal is very courteous and very personable

  • Matthew Bocsi

Couldn't find the pricing on anything. When I found out the price was on the back of the book I was only disappointed, almost had a heat attack

  • Cody Stuart

Helpful staff with a large selection of books and home goods. Cashier helped me to update me profile and start collecting plum loyalty points.

  • prince bajwa

Best customer service with best employees to help you out with your shopping with smile and friendly nature. Place is super clean i loved it

  • Mark Newton

Well organized selection of books and book related material. Could have opened an additional cash as the line was very long at check out.

  • Rejivar A.

Has super nice staff. If they dont have the book you want it's easy to find at one of the many kiosks/computer. The books smell awesome.

  • Alain Defazio

Had to get educational gifts to my grandchildren this year and books were the answer . The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful..

  • Sonia Matte-Carrascosa

I hope it never closes. Love going there. So many nice things. Great place to find nice home finds, great books, and unique gifts

  • Matthew Rusniak

Pros: Largest chapters in Canada. Super selection and service. Starbucks upstairs. Cons: hard to find one. It’s a great spot.

  • tina bright

Don’t ask why Amazon is doing so well, when you can buy what you are looking for there, without the attitude from the staff.

  • b f

Great selection of kids toys! I love the new setup with all the kid stuff upstairs. I do miss the Starbucks though... …

  • Joy Lampert

Good service, helpful staff. A pleasant change in the wide selection of items sold at Indigo compared to a few years ago.

Nice stuff, gift ideas, but on the pricey side a little! But for book lovers, they still have them!
