My partner and I looked around for a new lunch spot to visit that had good, relatively healthy food offerings at a good price. Istanbul grill has been on my list since it opened a couple years ago and I'm so glad we finally tried it! I called about 10 am to see if I needed to make a reservation for two for lunch that day. The person said no worries, to just come right in. When we arrived about 11:50, they said we would need to wait five minutes for a table. We then said how we had called earlier, and then somehow a table was miraculously open for us to sit down immediately. That was odd, but I just went with it. The ambience is very cool with the all seeing eye all over one wall and other art pieces around. There are also beautiful chandeliers with the style of Eurasia. Even the women's bathroom (one stall) was well decorated and kept very clean. It took some time for a server to get to our table, but all of the tables were full, so I understood the short wait. The rest of the time, our waiter, Can, was very responsive. For $12.95 (the lunch menu price has gone up) you get a choice of an appetizer and an entree. I chose the 10. falafel and 13. Salmon. My partner chose 6. Shepherd's salad and 11. Beef shish. The falafel was served fresh and hot. It was delicious dipped in the greek yogurt. There are two pieces about the size of a small pancake. I would not recommend ordering the falafel entree option because it's the same amount of falafel plus rice and veggies. My salmon was delicious! It was incredibly flavorful and melted in my mouth. There were four large cubes of salmon on top of a bed of rice. The rice itself was just lukewarm, but still very good. I would have sent it back, but I was hungry. I tried my partner's beef shish and holy bananas was that good. I definitely recommend both of those dishes. One thing I really enjoyed was the pickled red cabbage. It was the perfect bite with my salmon and rice. If you haven't had something like that before, now is the time to try! We didn't finish all of our food and when we compiled the food, it was enough for a whole meal. I was impressed with the service and I really enjoyed my food. Overall, I recommend Istanbul Grill for a good lunch near downtown that is reasonably priced. We were out the door with a bill just over $30 with tip.

Hubby and I enjoyed an impromptu date night in the city and tried a new-to-us restaurant, Istanbul Bar & Grill on Throckmorton St We LOVE Mediterranean food and I'm especially partial to Turkish food, but it took us 2 years to finally walk into this restaurant because our 1st year in Fort Worth we could never tell if the place was even open and operating and it wasn't until this year that we finally started seeing people eating inside. Being from Vancouver, where we have REALLY good Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurants, I've been skeptical about finding authentic global cuisine in downtown Fort Worth... but I'm so glad we finally shook off our reservations and came here! Even though the vibe is very classy the staff were all very warm and inviting, witch made the experience cozy. Our waiter, Cenk, who is also the restaurant manager, was really attentive, friendly & professional through the entire experience. We were impressed! Let's talk food! Of course I ordered tea, and to my delight I was served a cup of tasty black tea in a traditional little Turkish glass cup. LOVE that little authentic detail The meal started with a complimentary basket of warm pita and mixed olives which were also very tasty! Again, that little detail of bringing WARM pita...SO GOOD! David ordered the Lamb Shank over eggplant puree. The lamb was a little on the dry side, not melt-in-your-mouth, but the sauce was flavorful and the eggplant puree was really creamy and delicious I ordered the Moussaka, and I'll say, I was surprised that it came with a red sauce, rather than a creamy & rich Bechamél sauce that I'm used to. Plus, instead of creamed/mash potato filling there we potato slices. Is this style of Moussaka unique to Turkey? Is the version I'm used to eating a Greek version? The dish was good, but I think it missed the mark based on my idea of a comforting, soft, rich & creamy version. All said, we will definitely return to Istanbul Grill! Great experience, wonderful service and very tasty food at a reasonable price point

I like Mediterranean food, so my bias is showing. But let me tell you - Do not pass this place up! If you get a chance to eat here, do it. We picked this place in a rush, they seated our incomplete party, treated my wife and I like royalty and served up a number of Turkish staples without delay. I have always thought Americans could take a page from Middle Eastern hospitality and being here confirmed that. BTW the phrase Mid-East was a European term meaning “halfway to Asia”. Turkish food is largely cosmopolitan because it was centered at a major point of trade and it borders Europe and Asia. We had some of the best pita and hummus that I’ve ever sampled. A lamb burger with a semi spicy sauce, hunkarbegindi which offered plenty of “taste dances” across the stage of my palate, lamb shishkabob,, Whiskey, beer and some more whiskey. Oh and some Turkish coffee which looked and tasted like an espresso! Personally I don’t like coffee. There’s nothing worse than a good cup of coffee! I wish we could have stayed and tried the baklava, I love baklava! You might pass this place up by accident, it’s a corner spot, not easy to find in my opinion but I usually have Irish Whiskey coursing through my bloodstream and I’ve actually walked past my wife more than once without realizing she was there. The staff was friendly and attentive, the sincere kind of smiles that you see with kith and kin - not the fake television smiles. Have you ever noticed how unreal TV and YouTube smiles are? Our friends showed up and everyone was in agreement - this place must be Fort Worth’s best kept secret. Well Cowtown you need to spread the word! Istanbul Grill!

I popped in here for a late lunch. At one point it was just my table in the restaurant sat in the corner looking out into down town. The classical music playing gave it a sophisticated charm and felt like I was on a very high end restaurant. The waitress was extremely nice, but she wasn’t to attentive which was disappointing. Started off with the hummus which I was expecting more and with bow delicious it was I was even more disappointed because I didn’t want it to end. to this day was the best hummus I’ve had. The pita bread was light and fluffy. I then had the beef kabob over rice with hanger steak. It was good but not overly impressive. I have hard time giving high ratings to a steal of any kind that is burned. No reason to serve burned steak even on the edges. The veggies were sensational just need a dash of salt. This would be a great place for a business lunch. The drinks are À la carte and are served from a can so they can make your bill higher than necessary. I will be back for the hummus alone and I hope the service is better next time.

Update: we had a great visit with a great waitress - Abby. We loved her vibe. Food was great too! This was redemption day and Istanbul Grill passed with flying colors. I can tell that the food that I got was really good but it just wasn't cooked right. I asked for my steak kabobs to be cooked Medium but they were easily Rare to Medium Rare. I could have asked to have them cook a little bit longer but I don't like having my food taken back. I just don't trust disgruntled chefs or staff to not do something to my food. Also I was never asked how my food was after they brought it. I would probably go back again but I wouldn't trust them to get steak that is cooked to doneness. They give you these pita chips with olives and this really delicious olive oil mix that just tastes amazing. Again I would go back again but I would not get anything that was stake related. I would just stick with everything else. It was a pretty bad experience. After we got the food that's when the service went downhill. But it was good before we got the food.

What a fantastic experience, very nice dining environment. I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday to try something new. We tried the Turkish white and red wines both very tasty. We ordered the zucchini cakes which were great! We ordered the Sea Bass which was good but I wouldn’t order again. The Hünkar Beğendi however was absolutely amazing. We also ordered the Baklava and their desert beverage which is basically an espresso martini with Baileys. Be sure to ask for the dessert menu it’s not online. Wished I had taken a photo of it. The baklava was so good. I had to do some research on the Hünkar Beğendi after eating it. The eggplant sauce was so magnificent. From my research it is a becmal sauce with fire roasted and puréed egg plants or aberginis mixed together. It really created an amazing flavor. The dish was created around the 17th or 18th century and is also known as the Sultans Delight as it was created for the then reigning sultan who absolutely loved the dish. Basically a lamb chili on top of a egg plant becmal sauce. It is absolutely a Delight! I would 100% go back.

A taste of turkey in downtown Fort Worth! The food was very savory and very fulfilling. I arrived during the lunch menu and you get your money's worth at the restaurant. The piya is a nice white bean salad that has olive oil as a dressing with red and green peppers and some cilantro in it. It's reminiscent of a black bean corn salad but with Turkish origins. The service was supreme. I consistently had my water filled. The lamb Burger is solid. The burger itself without the dressings is juicy and has good lamb flavors. I loved the thick piece of cheese used in the burger. Cigarette borek. It’s a nice Turkish cheese roll to start off on. !The moussaka was the king of the whole course. It was savory with the cheese, zucchini and eggplant that tasted better than any moussaka I ever had. Moussaka is like lasagna in case you don't know. Fyi. It can get full around lunch time. And it can get loud with happy customers. You wait to be seated

We had lamb shank over rice, eggplant on the side and the tomato stewed lamb over eggplant. Both were delicious! The lamb shank was flavorful and fell off the bone, but the tomato stewed lamb was by far the best choice. I am not usually a big eggplant person (why we substituted for rice with the lamb shank), but the eggplant on both dishes is what really won us over. It tasted like smoked gouda queso and it was amazing, I could eat an entire bowl. My two complaints would be that they did not have lamb chop which is what we originally ordered (before replacing it with the shank) and that our two meals came out staggered so my husband was watching his dinner cool for a few minutes before mine arrived. When I'm paying more than $50 a person I expect to get our meals together so we can enjoy them together. Still the food is amazing and the staff were friendly and attentive.

This may be our new favorite restaurant. The food and service is excellent. I definitely recommend trying one of the appetizer combos. It's a great way to try different flavors. I chose the hummus, Turkish cheese and spicy ezme. My husband had the garlic shrimp appetizer. Everything was delicious. For entrees I had the lamb shank which was huge and extremely tender and flavorful. My husband had the branzino which was also delicious. We will definitely be going back because there are several other dishes that we can't wait to try.

When you walk in you're greeted by friendly faces. Seating was instantly available. The interior instantly reminds you that you are downtown and at a high quality place. However it still felt as though casual was perfectly acceptable. The atmosphere was casually romantic with middle eastern decor. The waiter was great. But what we care most about is the food right? The lamb meatloaf was great with the perfect combination of spices. The lamb steak was cooked perfectly and was mouthwatering. The lamb sausage was good but didn't compare to the other two. The drinks were also great. I highly recommend the Turkish coffee. The downside for me was the baklava. It was dry and very small portions. It felt more like a presentation than an actual desert. I would recommend staying away from the baklava and trying a different desert to end the night with. Overall it was an amazing experience. I will be back.

A great option for weekday lunches, particularly when dining with coworkers in a group. While the cuisine might not be entirely authentic, it's the only Turkish food choice available in the downtown area. Nearby, you'll find Dimassi's Buffet, a 10-minute drive from downtown, and Byblos, just 5 minutes north. The ambiance is clean and inviting, and the service is commendable. They offer a lunch special for around $17 inclusive of tax, which includes a main course and a generous serving of a side dish. However, the value diminishes during the evening. The drink selection is satisfactory, without any standout offerings. Also, they don't have apple or Goggle Pay!

Absolutely fabulous experience! from the exceedingly kind helpful silver fox of a host to our hilarious busser and a fabulous waiter with phenomenal recommendations and I haven’t even gotten started with the food yet! oh. my. gosh. first we enjoyed the most assuredly blowlingly delicious appetizer of my life pacanga borek beef pastrami red pepper and turkish kasseri cheese stuffed in in a fried crispy phyllo roll with perfectly paired greek yogurtthen the best lamb of my life. the adana kebab with beautifully prepared roasted vegetables and perfectly subtlety flavored rice. the tomato based sauce on the hunkar begendi was equally divine compliment to that dishes lamb. I stole some of the sauce to have with my rice as wellTHEN DESSERT. Baklavasavored every sensational bite.

I’m going to agree with all the other reviews, this place is delicious. We had the falafel and cigar boreks appetizer. Would recommend both, but I do wish we had tried the grape leaf appetizer. We had the chicken kebab and a lamb shank, both delicious. We got the flan and baklava for desert and my partner insists it’s the best baklava they have every had. 10/10 would recommend and would come back. One piece of feedback, we happen to walk in at a moment when our server was busy. A gentleman sat us, and came by with water and pita, but didn’t really say anything to us. It would have been nice if he could have said “Your server will be right with you” or something to that effect. We thought he was our server and was wondering why we were waiting and he wasn’t taking our order.

My first time stopping by, and it was a pleasant experience. I stopped by during a typical business day lunch hour. Istanbul uses a very wise, and practical menu of pick 2 popular dishes for a set price during weekday lunch. This made choosing easy, even for those that would be completely unaware of Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. The flavor profiles were authentic and vibrant. The gyro was not dried out which can happen so frequently. The rice was fluffy. The bread was soft and the yogurt sauce was proper. The interior was simple, but very refined and charming. The staff was professional, but without being stuffy or overly pretentious. I will definitely return there from time to time.

We tried Istanbul Grill for the 1st time a couple Sundays ago and were delighted to have chosen this place for our Sunday afternoon dining experience. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant sooths you as you sit in the semi quietness of the beautifully decorated space. We were just as impressed with the decor and lighting, as well as the food we ordered. Our waiter Cenk was very attentive and ensured our party of 6 had any questions answered, drinks kept full, and made helpful suggestions throughout our visit. We began with both the cold and hot appetizers, then moved on to our main entree dishes. We had lamb kebabs, beef gyros, and the chicken delight. Portions were generous and we had plenty to take home for another meal. We will definitely be back!

Had no reservations. Walked in for 3. Discovered this place as we were nearby, so figure try it out. Wow! The owner was super nice and made sure to accommodate us! Armando, our server, was superb at his craft! He had many tables with large parties along with our 3 seater table, but Armando treated us as if we were a large party as well! Definitely recommend!!! Hope to see Armando soon!!!! Had Turkish Flan, Rice Pudding, Greek Gyro Dinner, Chicken Kebab Dinner, Hot Mix Appetizer, Pita bread with various Olives. EVERYTHING tasted GREAT to us as this was our first time to this restaurant!!!!!!

The food was amazing with so much flavor. My only feedback and the reason why I removed 1 star was due to the service and wait time of getting our order for desserts. We tried to catch our server's eyes plenty of times and had to wait literally 30 to 40 minutes to get a dessert menu and a cup of turkish coffee. Then our desserts come (mind you it was amazing and we are glad we waited) but our coffee never did and we were just too exhausted to wait any longer so we canceled our coffee which our server knew and canceled the coffee order and apologized plenty of times.

Absolutely loved it! There are Turkish restaurants in most towns, but one that does authentic Adana Kebab's and Chicken Tava are rare! One of the folks there was actually from Mersin so he knows what it means to serve real Mediterranean type food. I could eat my way through the menu. I did try the Lamb Tenderloin kebab tonight. The meat was tender and melted in your mouth. The grilled vegetables, rice, bread, and olives in oil, just pushed the meal over the top! I forced myself to get the baklava and was not disappointed! Four pieces drizzled with chocolate syrup and a dab of whipped cream was fantastic! If you get a chance, please stop in here, you won't regret it.

Very solid 9/10. I have no complaints about the food. The ezme is a really nice appetizer. I enjoyed the service, our waiter was not trying to push us through like cattle and let us enjoy a course before asking us for our next order. I would suggest ordering the lamb kabob dishes medium, as my medium rare lamb was a bit too chewy(not the restaurants fault). The only comment I have is there is a door that confuses guest walking up to the restaurant. It is a locked side door but this is not obvious to customers walking up to the restaurant. I would suggest putting a sign/arrow on this door directing guest to the main entrance.

I thoroughly enjoyed my solo dining experience at the Istabul Grill. Armando was my very friendly and knowledgeable waiter. A dish of olives & olive oil and fresh hot pita was my starter provided shortly after I sat down. I enjoyed a glass of Meiomi pinot noir with my very flavorful lamb kebabs entree. Probably some of the most tender lamb I’ve had. Finished my meal with some amazing baklava. This place has a very nice ambiance and I highly recommend giving it a try.

This place was great. The food was SO delicious. Started with the falafel, which was crispy and delicious. I had the branzino which was cooked to absolute perfection. The skin was so crispy and flaky and the fish was tender and light. The flavors on the veggies were delicious. My husband had the chicken tava. I tried it and it was so delicious as well. Again, the flavors were bold but very well balanced and not overbearing at all. We finished with baklava and it was the perfect amount. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our service was great. It was fast but not rushed.

Abby is a beautiful example of how professional, exceptional, attentive, and inviting those in the dining industry should be. She is one of the reasons I enjoyed my dining experience. Istanbul Grill is a beautiful restaurant with delicious dishes that are sure to satisfy. They start you of with pieces of naan accompanied by olives. I don't like olives but these changed my mind. The taste wasn't overpowering. My entree was the salmon. Tender, flaky, seasoned perfectly. My only issue with it was that one piece had 3 bones in it, which I caught just before swallowing. Other than that, I believe I will return to try more of their tasty offerings.

What a great surprise in Fort Worth. Staying across the street at hotel and decided to give this place a try for lunch with business associates. All of us loved it. Great food and great service. Best Mediterranean food I have ever had. We enjoyed so much came back the next night for dinner. I highly recommend the lamb chops. It’s hard to find great lamb chops and these are the best. This restaurant feels European at times due to the pace of serving (you will not be in a hurry to leave unless you want to). Food is delicious if you like Mediterranean dishes. We ordered an appetizer of 3 cold dishes, all of them excellent (try the Spicy Ezme!). Main courses and dessert are in the pictures. I will have that Hunkar Begendi again in the future. I really wanted to love this place like everyone else but maybe I came on the wrong day. We ordered spicy ezme, Adana kebab and Hungar Begendi. The spicy ezme was delicious and highly recommend! The Adana Kebab I wasn’t too fond of it. The kebab lacked flavor and it was dry, parts of it had a bitter taste which was weird, the rice was ok. The Hungar Begendi was good but didn’t have enough eggplant, barely anything in there but did have great flavors. I will say they provided the absolute BEST service, absolutely sweet, funny, polite and attentive!! I definitely will come back and try different dishes

It's a busy place, especially on the weekends, so you better put a reservation ahead of time. The food is great, the lamb was cooked to perfection - juicy and not overspiced, so you can actually taste the meat. The Turkish coffee, unfortunately, was not as good as we remember from our trips to Turkey. Overall, it is a great place with a good atmosphere and good food in a great location.

We had a wonderful dining experience for my mothers 83rd birthday. The Gyros, lamb burger, steak kabobs and lamb shank was phenomenal! Ehhh. Took a while to get service. Wish they had Turkish cheese bread with their sauce. Turkish tea tasted like hot Lipton tea. Was not really a fan. I was looking for a Turkish authentic restaurant. This was not it. Cute date to take someone special because of their candle lit setting but, unfortunately I won’t be coming back. Still looking for a good restaurant with some amazing Turkish dishes.

An amazing gem in the heart of downtown Ft. Worth! A Turkish rooted Mediterranean restaurant that satisfies the palate of any food lover! The variety is vast, the portions great, and prices are fairly reasonable. The wine selection is superb and the staff warm and welcoming. Each dish we ordered and experienced was super delicious. Delicious, authentic Turkish food. Great service. Our server was actually an aero space engineer, which was surprising. The space can be a little tight during busy times but it's worth it. My boyfriend had Turkish coffee for the first time and we were all full of energy for several hours afterwards. Haha

We had a excellent experience here. Our first time at this restaurant. It’s classy and casual at the same time. Service is outstanding and food is so fresh and delicious. Our new favorite Mediterranean place in DFW. Our daughter accidentally spilled water and they were so kind and helpful to clean up the spill. We ate the chicken delight, chicken kebabs and Greek salad with Gyro meat. Omg it was all so good! Wine was excellent too. Highly recommended. Right opposite PF Changs.

First visit for a group birthday dinner and everything was perfect! There were 12 of us and all of our drinks and food arrived at the same time which is rare when you’re dining with a large party! , The drinks were cold, the food was hot, hats off to your entire staff! Our server Armando was the cherry on top, he took phenomenal care of us and you can tell he really loves his job! We will be back soon!

The food, service and ambience were fantastic. Out server, Darci, was superb. Also, the young man who generously took photos of my husband and I. My grilled salmon was cooked to perfection and my husband's falafel plate was great too. One of the best lentil soups I've had and he enjoyed his zucchini cakes. Coffee was great too. We will definitely be back!

This place has amazing food!! Please be patient, they are operating with little wait staff but food has been really good and worth the little wait! This is the second time we came and love to try new things on the menu. The lamb stew was to die for, so tasty, we wanted to lick the plate. Gyro is warm and tasty and hummus is on point with great flavor and olive oil drizzle. **Update - just ate here again and they are staffed up!

  • Maram Battah

Authentic Turkish food, most workers are turkish. They were very nice. It was 7 of us and each ordered something different, fish, beef lamb and chicken it was all good. Everyone loved it. Def recommend. Will definitely come here again

I've been wanting to eat Turkish cuisine for very long time. I'm glad I came here. Food is just amazing. We got Lamb shank and adana kebab. They come with Rice and vegs. I would have given it a 5 ⭐ if quantity of stir fry vegetables were good. But Kebabs and Shank were juicy and so tender that I didn't use my knife......

Beautiful little corner restaurant. Great lunch options at a very reasonable price. Everything taste fresh and flavorful. Very relaxing environment as well. I had the falafel appetizer and the Lamb shank (chefs special.) The lamb had a delicious eggplant purée under it and a side of rice. The meat was tender and juicy. Fell right off the bone. Excellent place for something filling but not heavy.

  • Raquel Wynn

It was the first time coming here but it will not be the last! The food was absolutely the best Mediterranean I’ve had in the states, the service was perfectly timed, no one rushing but I still felt attended to, it’s warm, approachable, and a GEM in downtown! Do not sleep on this place! You will regret not coming here!!

Took a client here and the food was excellent. The lamb shank is as good as it looks. We also did the cold and warm appetizer platters. Every bite was a "oh that's so good" comment from someone at the table.

Excellent food and wonderful service! If you like great Mediterranean food, you will love this place! My moussaka was outstanding and my wife loved her salmon dish. Great service and the place is beautiful. I rate this place based on the price which I consider higher than average. Five of us with only water to drink was $130. So for that it was pretty good, not exceptional. The beef kabob was mixed. The flavor was good but the temp of the steak was all over there place. Some rare, some well done. Bread, hummus, and olives were about average.

  • Amanda Hill

The staff and atmosphere was great, it was a little loud, but overall great. The food was plated so elegantly and the food was impeccable! The flavor combination were amazing! We had the falafel, braised lamb shank, lamb meatballs, and baklava for dessert!

I just received amazing service here today and the food was just so perfect. I am a huge fan of lamb kabobs and not many places can cook them and flavor them right. These here were so tender and juicy and full of flavor. I also had two cups of Turkish tea which I really enjoy. Next time I can’t wait to try from the dessert menu as well. Restaurant is very clean and nice.

  • TX _Marauder

Passing through and seen their place. They have a limited menu. Which I like. Make good stuff? Then make it. They have lunch specials that are pretty cheap for how fancy it is. Ordered the chicken kabob. Came with a humus appetizer. The grilled vegetables and pickles that came with the levy were perfect. Service was top notch. Highly suggest giving this place a try.

  • Bronwyn ST

If you love lamb, this is going to thrill your pallet. Atmosphere is elegant. Service was top notch. Restaurant is spotless. You will not be rushed through dinner. Really lovely wine list with some excellent Turkish and Greek wines to explore. Be sure to have dessert with an excellently prepared Turkish coffee.

Beautiful restaurant on the corner downtown. Great service, amazing food! Seemed to have a good wine list, but we had been walking around in heat & humidity all day and only had water. Appetizers delicious, chicken, eggplant, cabbage rolls and gyro wonderful. Just order all the desserts! Best dining experience of our whole trip. 5★★

We had the baba ganoush app and it was really, really good. I had the Chicken Delight for dinner at the waitress’s recommendation and I recommend it as well. Very tasty, loved the eggplant purée. The place is great if you like Mediterranean l, which I do. It was packed on the Saturday and we needed reservations. More

Istanbul Grill is definitely the best food I've had in Fort Worth. Whenever I find a Turkish restaurant that's good I usually order too much. After ordering babaganoush, piyaz, pacanga borek & the lamb shank it had me wanting more. Unfortunately I couldn't eat another bite so you know I'll be returning in the future.

Love the Istanbul Grill! We've eaten here a good 4 times in the last year. Each time was some of the best Turkish food you can find in DFW and for sure the best in Fort worth. It's right in the middle of downtown and really convenient if
