Just popping on as I'm disappointed with services I received here. The business itself seems friendly enough, however I am having heat issues in my dodge ram, took it in and was told he would start with replacing the thermostat, he did that and said he got heat pumping from the vehicle, I was super excited that it was a quick fix. Next day (didn't go anywhere that night) heat wasn't working. Called him back and he said might need a coolant flush and if not that it would have to go to the dealer, but he was too busy until the New Year. Fair enough. However in going online and doing research and posting things for advice, my operating temperature on my truck is just fine (tested that myself and touched the heat lines going into cab under hood, hot to the touch), have been told by numerous mechanics now that it never needed a new thermostat and it won't need a coolant flush at all. Just questioning why a thermostat was just thrown at my vehicle as the solution and absolutely ZERO diagnostics were done to figure out the true issue. Just questioning now if they actually know what they are doing? Sounds like I need my blend door looked at or the heater core. Just disappointing I spend money on something that didn't work and right around this time of year when money is tight, for me anyway! This is just a buyer beware message I guess. Wish they actually diagnosed the vehicle. Also, it doesn't need to go to the dealer, have talked to many mechanics who can do this. I just don't think he wanted to be bothered honestly.

My breaks had been squeezing for a while but since they were reflectively new, I figured they were just a cheap brand and I was prepared to replace them with something better. A shop nearby (not this shop) informed me that just to drive it around would be $70. If I decided to walk away, they would keep the $70, but put it towards the overall service if I completed it at that particular shop. I walked into JVW by accident and decided to leave my car there instead. I got a call not long after I left and the tech said they took it out for a drive and didn't hear a sqeak. He said they COULD replace the pads, but they urged me not to as they believed it to be a waste of my money and that pads sometimes go through spots of squeaks. He then mentioned the 4 tires (on rims) I had in the back of my vehicle and asked if I wanted them swapped (winter to summer). I planned to have them swapped anyways and said sure. All said and done, I was charged $50 for the whole deal. $20 less than the diagnostic quoted by the shop nearby. These guys don't just want your business today, they want your business tomorrow too. I'd trust them with a blank cheque. This is now the shop I will be going to for anything I need. I recommend you head over there. Be prepared for the rough greas monkey look though. They may come off a bit intimidating but that's just because they put their life and soul into fixing cars.

I was in Calgary for a week for work and was driving to Fort Mcmurray the next morning. I thought I heard a squeal on my brakes so I said to myself that I better get this checked out before I make the drive to Fort Mcmurray. I called the shop and asked how long it would be before someone could check my 2013 Nissan Titan out. The guy on the phone was very polite and said if you bring it down right now I can have a look at it for you. The mechanic took the wheel off inspected all my brakes for me and assured me everything looked fine. He even took it for a test drive and said nothing is wrong. Other shops would try and up sell you something or Charge you for something. When it came time to grab my truck I went up to the cash register to pay and the guy said no charge at all. The two mechanics took about a hour and half of there time to check out my truck for me and didn’t charge me anything. I want to thank the guys at JVW auto repair and if I ever need work done on my truck while I’m in Calgary I will definitely go see the guys at JVW Auto repair.

Do NOT take your vehicle here! About a year and a half ago I took my car in for an inspection and they passed it with just a leaky rear shock, and replaced my front rotors. Brake pads were still very new. I brought my car back to show the mechanic what my front driver side brake pad and rotor looked like, because another shop showed me pictures of what they looked like now, I was in for a winter tire changeover and the front driver side rotor and brake pad were very worn, the passenger side still looks great! You failed to inspect my brake calliper sir, isn’t it really important to make sure it’s working correctly and not seized like it was? You guys neglected to do a quick functional check on the calliper and refused to do anything about it to make it right after the fact. “Saying anything could have happened” and “brake pads and rotors sometimes wear unevenly.” As a result I have to spend more money to service my car. Not acceptable! I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

I had a flat tire that I was able to temporarily repair with two plugs on the way home from work. However the tire wasn’t safe for my morning trip into work. The crank fitting that came with my truck was the wrong one and I needed help. A local tire shop told me to park it and they will see if they can change my tire that day, I needed a better alternative. I saw JVW Auto had just opened for the morning. I met Ed and explained the spot I was in. Ed asked for my keys and pulled my truck in right away. Luckily Ed had the crank fitting to lower my spare and he went right to work. Ed quickly had my spare tire on and made sure I understood driving on a spare was not safe and I need to find a new tire promptly. When I asked Ed what I owed him he said “no charge, you seem stressed, just take care of that tire and be safe, everyone needs a break now and then”. People like Ed are rare anymore. Trustworthy, honest and kind. I completely recommend JVW for any Auto service you need.

I had the most wonderful experience with JVW! I just got a nail embedded into my rear tire tread and it was the week where everyone was installing their winter tires/snowing (I know this because I called over 12 different mechanics and all of then said it would be 5 to 8 business days to get me in). Not only was JVW super joyful and kind on the phone when answering, they said they would do their best to fit me in to repair my tire. I told them that I needed it by Friday and they said they would do that despite how swamped they were. Then shockingly, they surprise and delighted me by fixing my tire the same day (I dropped it off right in the morning)!!! I couldn't believe it and was so excited. Amazing customer service, amazing can-do attitudes, professional, and very grateful to have trustworthy mechanics like you around this neighborhood! Thank you so much!

DO NOT GO!! Went for an oil change and had an oil leak ever since. I have never had a leak from this car in the last 7 years. Went in for the first time and oil was leaking. Went back to him a couple weeks after and he was rude. He said the leak was fixed but turns out it wasn’t. I had to go to another mechanic to do another oil change because they said the washer that JVW used was a plastic washer which caused the oil leak in the first place. Did the oil change at the other mechanic and voila, no more leak. Not to mention that JVW charges $30 more for oil changes as oppose to most other mechanics. Also looking at other reviews on here, looks like I am not the only one having the same issue. All in all, I had to do 2 oil changes in a span of a month to fix the issue. Please save your money!

I had an oil change done and am unhappy with the service I received. First, there was no care or attention given to my vehicle and it was returned to me with oil all over the engine and an overfilled oil tank which is damaging for turbo engines just as much as a too low amount of oil in the tank is. Also, my vehicle has been leaking oil since the service, even after I went back to get my car checked. With the damage done to my driveway, the inattentive service I received when I brought my vehicle in a second time, which didn’t fix the oil leak, and the extra expense I will incur to get my engine fixed elsewhere due to the poor service, ultimately I can say that my expectations for a routine oil change have not been met and I will not be returning for service at this auto shop.

Had my brakes done here within the past 2 yr. Somehow the emergency brake cable seized up and froze the brakes on the drivers side into the 'on' position. Needless to say my brakes were worn out very quickly. No fault of Brake Check of course I took it back and the guys were extremely helpful with diagnosing the issue. Worked with a guy named Voight. (sorry not 100% on the spelling of his name) They ordered up the parts and even offered to machine my rotors to try and help save me a couple hundred bucks. After machining they told me my rotors were still 0.5" past the nominal size. I'm really happy with the service I received here and would recommend Brake Check 130th if anyone needs a honest, experienced place to get their brakes done.

I arrived in at 3.40pm, and asked for my front rotors to be checked as I was getting a lot of vibration from the drivers side when braking. They took my car in straight away and confirmed they needed changing. The require brake disks were not in stock but they immediately made a call, found a set, and went to pick them up so they could fit them before they closed at 5pm. I was on the road again by 4.30pm. Staff were very pleasant and friendly and were happy to go the extra mile to help me out. Waiting room was clean, comfortable, and had plently to read. Overall, friendly, efficient, helpful and reasonably priced. Stop by if you need your brakes or other maintenance done.

I am a single mother and have been laid off since COVID hit. I noticed the other day a grinding noise coming from my front passenger tire and assumed the worst that I had not only a brake pad issue, but worse it was down to the router. It turns out it wasn't my brake pad at all but the caliber had not been put on correctly by the shop that did my brakes eight months ago! There wasn't a single bolt holding the caliber on to the brakes. The owner found bolts in the shop that would work and fixed the problem for me while I waited. And the best part - he didn't charge me a thing for it! They have earned this woman's business for life!

I came in with my car just 10 minutes after driving over a ladder that flew off the back of someones truck. I was flustered and worried it would cost me a fortune to fix because my vehicle was making a lot of strange noises. Wojtek took me in immediately and had the problem fix in 5 minutes. To top it all off he sent me on my way without a bill because of the simplicity of the problem. I know if I had brought my car anywhere else I could have been charged at least 200 and would have had to wait a day for the fix. It's safe to say I found my new mechanic

I just had a brake and rotor replacement + brake flush + rear brake service for half the price of 8 shops + 1 dealership that I contacted in SE quadrant. Same quotes and they required you to change all four. On this shop they told me that you only have to change the front and not the back. Ed and Woytek (not sure if I spelled it right) was very professional and easy to deal with. They will give you honest opinion and suggestions. If you can't deal with them you have the problem. I'll keep on coming back for sure and definitely refer them to my friends.

Don't often review Mechanical Services but absolutely comfortable with recommending JVW Auto Repair. Ed was straight up with me, quoted me a price and had me on the road within 3 hours with new front and back rotors installed. Old Tuarus was low mileage but had sat outside for mostly 11 years....rotors rusted and at least one warped. JWV is my new keeper of my car in respect to maintenance and repair.....check this shop....you doesn't need a place that leaves you feeling positve on price and service.....especially in this City..

My 2014 Silverado V6 OEM muffler exhaust sounds ok but I wanted V8 sounds like I bought aftermarket for my half-ton truck. So I look for a place that can modify and install my new muffler exhaust I'm glad that I found JVW auto repair center he tells me right on the spot installation cost and they did exactly what I want to. I'm happy for the result and the labour cost was reasonable cheaper than the other places. I highly recommend JVW auto repair center for muffler installations and other related auto repairs.

My brakes were making a terrible grinding sound so I GPS'd to the nearest brake shop. Luckily for me, it brought me to Brake Check. The guys here were straight up with me. Honest when I asked what needed to be done, they said "only the rear, the front still have some meat on the bone". I know a ton of shops that would have just said do both even when it didn't need to be done. I was in and out in about an hour. Fair pricing and a couple of great guys. Would highly recommend this shop for anyone looking.

I drive up from monarch and have my vehicles serviced on a regular basis. I'm told each time what needs to be done on my vehicles and what of my concerns can wait. I find their prices to be pretty reasonable compared with automotive places in lethbridge. I also like how I'm getting high end parts compared to the cheaper ones I've had lethbridge shops use. Brake check is always concerned about the safety of their customers vehicles, which i really enjoy as i am a parent and safety is my top priority.

I did not get the name of the guy who fix a small thing about my car. I went there without an appointment and ask if how much would it cost to fix a missing screw or knots at the buttom of my car. He just told me to pulled in the first bay. And he lift my car. Just waited for 5 mins and it’s done. I ask how much would i pay, and he just said “Its okay and have a great day.” He is so nice and their service is so nice. Will go back there for sure if i need a mechanic if my car break.

Wow! Such a quick and professional experience. Highly recommend! I was pressed for time to get my brakes and rotors replaced on my Ridgeline. I called in and expressed my urgency to the owner, he said, bring it in, no problem. The work was done in less time than it took me to grab a bite over at Boston Pizza. I was just there on Tuesday morning and the guy quickly took my car in and kindly checked my exhaust/muffler and gave me a quote for free. He even patiently took some time to look at places for the parts needed for my car and when he couldn’t find it because my car is still new, he gave me ideas as to where is the best place to take my car to get it fix. That was very kind of him and quite professional. Thumbs up for this place and this guy!

Was concerned about some leaks after I went to another place and they quoted me way too high. Called up JVW based on reviews, and they really impressed me! Checked out my car the next day within a half hour, and showed me in detail everything that was wrong with my car. They ALSO surprised me by not charging me a thing just to look at it, and I left this place a lot happier then I came in. Bring your cars here!!

Unbelievable experience, my boyfriend went in there to get a quote on our breaks for our vehicle, and just because my boyfriend is black he quoted him $600. Then I came in there a hour later to get a quote and because I'm white he quoted me $130. I will never use their services and I will tell everybody about the experience that I had. This is 2016, I didn't know we still had racism like this in businesses.

Walked in this morning having an issue with a strange noise coming from one of the wheels. Gentlemen said he can take a quick look since next customer was coming in shortly. 5 min later he came back everything is solid and it was just bunch of mud stuck. Noise was gone right away and I wasn't charged for that. That 5 minutes interaction made me think this a trustworthy place. Sure will be back. Thank you

Exceptional service! Even after repairs were complete! Took my husband's truck there, was repaired quickly and at a good price. Two months later we were told by a different shop the original concern wasn't fixed properly so we brought it back, they looked at it and took the time to show us it was indeed fixed correctly the first time around. Would highly recommend!

Replaced rear brake pads 2 months ago on my Siena 2011. Asked twice for good ones. The guy said they are good. But even after two month they make annoying noise when I braking slightly . I also was recommended to replase my front struts while they showed absolutely no signs of wearout. As on me this recommendation was an attempt to rape me on money. Never go there.

I went to Canadian Tire at 8:30am to diagnose what was a simple issue. I was told I need an appointment and came back at 10. At noon I came back for the 2nd time and my truck still hadn't been pulled into the shop. Got my keys and left. I went across the street to here, pulled it right in, got it diagnosed, resolved and left in less than 10 minutes. No charge.

Had a squealing belt, giving me headaches for months. I came to brake check and a great mechanic immediately diagnosed the problem and fixed it within 20 minutes. All other shops would've made me wait 5 days and charge me for tightening two bolts. Such a relief, great service. Even walked me through the process of fixing the problem. Fantastic.

I had my car repaired last week for an alignment, after the repair my car is still out of allignment and my steering is not straight and they can’t even show any papers showing that the allignment is done.I wouldn’t recommend this shop, it’s just a waste of money! Im never going to this shop!

Will never do my oil change here anymore. They literally did change the oil and filter and they did nothing else nor bother checking arround the car as they told me they will do check around the car like multipoint inspection. Oil level is a bit low. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED!

Don’t book tire change with them. They booked us after 2 week and then at the time of appointment they outright declined to change the winter tire. On asking the next door shop they say JVW always does this to their customer.

We had our struts replaced on our Dodge Journey and Ed was very friendly and knowledgeable. JVW was fast and priced well. They were quick to get my vehicle in after my first call. I will definitely be back for more service.
