Very very disappointed in our experience today. Went for a lunch with my mom and my 3 children. I ordered a sandwich for my meal with a side Cesar salad. Firstly it was incredibly annoying that longer paper straws were not available. Not everyone likes to drink from glass at restaurants. We had to use these awkward short straws. Then I got my sandwich and noticed immediately how wilted my salad was...it was soggy and looked old almost. I chose not to say anything though...carried on with my sandwich instead which initially seemed to taste great...until about 6 bites in...looked down at my sandwich and a black hair was in my sandwich. I told the waitress who sent the manager, she offered to make a replacement meal. To be honest I assumed this would be on the house. I think I've only had one other similar experience many years ago at another restaurant and my mom has also so she said to me usually they take that off the bill. The replacement meal took SO long to cook that my entire table finished all of their meals and my son finished his dessert before they finally brought my meal. At this point I got it in a to go container. The waitress came close to meals being finished and offered a free dessert, at that point I realized the meal was still being put on my bill..which it was...pathetic! You aren't following proper protocol yet I still paid almost $22 for a meal? Horrible horrible experience.

Went in for a late dinner, around 8:30-9pm to celebrate an occasion. First impression was fine but it went down hill from there. First the hostess never gave us the summer feature menu so I had to ask the server for it. Once we were ready to order I asked for a glass of wine, she came back saying they were out. Then the entree I asked for she said they were out of that too…. Ended up just getting a salad which was underwhelming, no flavour, basically no toppings, etc. My boyfriend got a burger which he took one bite into and it was essentially raw…. Once we finally got our servers attention (after about 15 minutes) she apologized and asked for a new one to be made. The second one was fine but you could tell the kitchen staff was annoyed having to remake it based off the poor presentation and obvious signs of rushing. Once we got the bill the burger was still on there at full price, no compensation for any of the inconvenience at all. Ended up costing over $80 for two people. Overall bad experience, save yourself the trouble and go to a different restaurant.

I was having lunch on the patio today, when a giant fly went into my beer and died. It happened right infront of the server/bartender. I asked him I could get them beer replace with a fresh one. I even specified, not the full beer, just up to what I had left. The male bartender, slender guy with tattoos, made a snide comment saying "No, those are the perils of sitting on the patio". I've bartender for 20 years and I've always replaced a beer if a fly goes in someone's drink. It is pretty standard practice to do so, but he just laughed and said no. So I had to spend another $9 plus tax and tip for a new beer. I had lunch there and was going to stay for a second beer but I thought forget it, why give a bigger bill to someone who doesn't care about their customer? Their patio was also really filthy there was literally garbage everywhere, with wrappers and containers on the floor.

We got takeout from Jack Astors - we generally dine in. This time due to circumstances we opted for take out to bring to my elderly in laws. We picked up our order and brought it back to their home. Once we realized that the order was incorrect, we called back to the restaurant immediately. We were missing parts of our dinners. We didn’t get salad dressing for a Caesar salad, some side items like sauce for a Thai bowl . We called the restaurant and they asked if we could come back to pick them up. It would’ve taken us 25 minutes to go back and grab the items so we opted not to. We were told that the manager would call us back on Monday as this was the weekend. This occurred on June 25 and we are still waiting for a return call. Not totally dissatisfied with the food, and we improvised however, unimpressed with the customer service.

I have been going to Jack Astors for many years, Centennial in particular. Recently I have noticed a change in management and it has affected my experience at this location specifically. Erika was the manager that had approached my table to address the minor complaint I had. Erika had made me feel like my problem was not a priority, and immediately deflected the issue and was blatantly rude. She was focused on blaming the server, as opposed to taking responsibility of said issue. This evidently made me want to spend my money elsewhere. I have worked in the industry, and am familiar with how the environment works, and this was the first time I had seen her the entire time I was there. It was not a comfortable experience and I hope things change for this location as it use to be a pleasant experience.

Brought my daughter here for her 9th birthday. This is her favorite restaurant. Called to make a reservation. Told them it was my daughter's bday. The staff here went the extra mile to ask me what were some of her favorite things. They wanted to make her bday extra special. Well did they ever. We were brought to a booth that was decorated with Happy Birthday banners, balloons and gifts for my daughter. I mean what an amazing show of pure joy and kindness and the smile on my daughter's face, priceless. She also was treated with a tour of the restaurant. The food and service was excellent. "Best Birthday at Jack Astors ever daddy!" Big thanks to Ashley, Erika and the rest of the team. I mean just about all of the staff took the time to come over and wish my princess "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Asked to wait 15 mins as busy, looked empty in the dining area, but said ok, no problem, apparently they had a big party at the back. Waited, then as people started coming in and waiting there, they refused them. Sorry, I can't handle 4 or 6 people parties. Just to note, there we only had 3 in our party. So we thought we'll good thing we got in when we did, 20 minutes later, she said I can sit you, but you won't get served for another 20 or 30 mins??? What are you kidding me. We left disappointed after sitting for almost 25 minutes by this time, haven't been there for a long time, and won't go back. Note to Jack's put a sign next time, closed or sorry over booked, something! You refused so many people at the door, coming in with their kids, it's not a good look nor a way to treat your patrons. Went to The Express Italian Eatery, which had great food, lots of room, and well priced!

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were seated within a few moments. However, from that point on we had waited 20 minutes at our table without even having been offered drinks. If one of the members of my group hadn't approached the staff, I don't believe we would have even been acknowledged. The best part was having the manager (?) approach our table, vehemently apologize, and then offer to comp our meals, even mentioning that we should order three desserts as those would be free too, just to be greeted with a bill that was not even 50% off. I would advise others to ideally avoid this restaurant not because the food was poor, but because you'll waste your evening just waiting to receive attention, let alone water.

Dropped by here to get a quick bite to eat for dinner which we normally do once or twice a week. Our server was friendly and pleasant. When ordering, we asked what our options were for sides and one of us decided to go with the truffle fries. When the food came, the meal had a side order of regular fries and the server gave us another plate with the truffle fries saying she gave us extra. I thought that was quite nice considering the food was mediocre. She brought the receipt when we were done and turns out she actually billed us separately for the truffle fries, costing us an additional $10. Very deceiving and sneaky; probably will not be back.

In Canada to attend my grandson’s first softball tournament. His Mom suggested we do lunch at Jack Astors. I ordered the Jacked up beef Nachos. Wow was it jacked up! Made to feed at the very least 4 people. The waitress did not offer this information. The beef was seasoned, melted cheese with fresh tortillas and garnishments. The bill certainly surprised me, but after speaking with Mike, the Manager he gave me a discount! Atmosphere was nice, wonderful outdoor seating with shaded tables. Service was prompt and courteous. My grandson inhaled his burger. Jack Astors will be my go-to spot whenever I return.

Had a good lunch/dinner today, our server was beyond caring and kept checking up on us and our food. She was quick to bring us whatever we needed and was a pleasure to talk to. Food was a bit too salty which is odd since other jack astors I have visited have always nailed their French fries and nachos. Nachos were not all the way loaded with veggies as other location but it was mediocre. A little irritated at the end since it says on Sunday online they open at 4Pm. We called and asked if they were open around 3:30PM and were told yes you can come so we drove down and arrived at 345PM but doors were locked. Had to wait until 4PM to get inside but no biggie since they served us right away.

Celebrated my nephew's 18th birthday on Saturday September 9th. Our server was Bianca and she was very friendly, professional and well educated on all items on the menu. She was able to direct us to the best meals and desserts for the evening! Lots of laughs with her and will definitely be returning!

Food was good, atmosphere was fine. I was at a co workers retirement dinner. There were about 22 of us. I had chicken fingers and one pint of drought beer. It came time to pay, I was not given a bill, just told the server what I had, after adding a tip, my bill ended up just under $51. Later, after speaking to others who attended this function, I was told that an 18% service charge was already added to my bill , I was unaware , given no paper bill and then added an additional tip. No pleased, will probably not be returning.

Place is nice, good music. There was nobody to greed us so we sat at the bar section. Our server Lucas was great, but unfortunately food was not good. Over priced steak for what you get. Perfectly cooked steak but tasteless. Best part of the experience was dessert. One thing that I like to point out is that we noticed there was a huge lack of staff team work. Our server was leaving so we paid the bill to make it easier for him, but since we became nobody’s table, the server helping the tables next to us didn’t even say hello or ask if we need it anything else or offer to clear our piling table.

Due to the menu change, we shall not be returning. For whatever reason, several dishes have been discontinued (specific complaint from my SO being the lack of Sesame Chicken Bowl and Fish and Chips). So, without specific dishes to draw us in, there's no reason to go back, given the wide variety of food options in Hamilton. I want to be clear - the service was excellent, and the staff were wonderful. It is the menu change that has lost our business.

Attended a retirement party recently in the afternoon. The service was pretty bad and to top it off I was charged $54.40 for two pints of Goose Island!!! The waitress presented me with the correct bill as I was chatting to a friend and then presented the machine which I tapped without checking. So, a bill for $26.36 which included the tip became $54.40. I’ve launched a dispute with my credit card company. I would never go here again!!! Poor service, poor atmosphere and mistakes like this, assuming it was a mistake are not acceptable!!!

Wow - best NY striploin I've had in a long time !! Ordered the Memphis, 11 oz steak w/loaded baked potato.. my compliments to the chef - my dinner was cooked to perfection !! Your waitress Brooke is quite knowledgable and charming, she really made me feel welcome. Several other of your waitstaff asked if everything was fine, and everyone had a smile on their faces. Great meal tonight. I had the Mushroom Truffle Cheeseburger and my boyfriend the Holy Smokes BBQ burger - both were excellent. Truffle fries as a side and bruschetta as a starter we're also really good. They had a DJ and a raffle for Grey Cup tickets tonight - was a fun vibe. Had the opportunity to meet the regional manager, Dalis. Her and her team were very friendly and kind.

We had great service from Erin. She was so thoughtful and served us with a smile. She offered the birthday dessert to us cheerfully. We really the food and service
