Artist run centre providing housing for a few artists, and hosting artsy events. I just had a show with a bunch of other students from Emily Carr at JBG, and 100% of the profit went to the artists! The building is very run down and squeaky. Upstairs bathroom is open to public during events. Basement is converted into a ceramics/painting studio (they rent individual workspaces from time to time). Friendly residents, great atmosphere.

A truly unique location housing artist studios and multipurpose production/presentation/meeting space. The James Black Gallery is a melting pot of different artists, cultural programmers, and organizations from many different backgrounds and artistic practices coming together as a community.

I love this gallery. It's an excellent spot to see emerging artists flex their creative muscles. The gallery is a quaint old house close to some great places, so you can see an art show and then hop over to a funky pub and grab a drink.

A live/work art house that's been in Vancouver under various names for the last 15 years, the James Black is one of Mount Pleasant's most definitive yet most under-the-radar art institutions.

Super cool artists'hangout place. The house seems like it's falling apart which adds to its charm. You feel extra romantic inside something that is rotten

Cute place to go with some creative artists working there. I wish one day I can manage such a art building.
