A relatively small museum compare to many others. Some historical items related to the American Japanese local to northwest region. In particular to the WW II era, when American Japanese were unfairly treated and put into concentration camps. Some compeorary art work there as well. The entire place will probably take less than fifteen minutes to finish the tour. Not a whole lot of people there either. We visit on Sunday morning and was the one group there when we arrived. When we were leaving another group of 4-5 people just arrived. Parking in neighborhood is relatively easy and encouraging Sunday morning visit as it is free.

Rich and artfully-designed exhibits with poignant, personal artifacts, including first-hand audio retellings. The museum is primarily focused on the Japanese American experience around World War II, and tells the story of how federally-forced relocations upended the lives of the Nikkei community in and around Portland. A must-see for anyone seeking local or Nikkei history, and highly-recommended for all to provide a lens for reviewing contemporary social and political climates.

This is an important stop to make in Portland. It tells the story of Japanese Americans in the US and raises awareness that the fight for equity hasn't ended. They're in the process of partnering with Museums for All so folks with EBT can get a discount or free admission. Masks are still required here so be nice and put it on.

Really great museum with top notch exhibition. The museum’s permanent exhibition os about Japanese American History in Portland. There is also a section with temporary exhibitions. When I was there, work from a Japanese American artist was being featured..

They recently redid the whole museum and have put a lot of effort into making this space educational and interactive. It tells the story of the Japanese American Community in Portland, featuring local families and their experiences being in internment camps during World War II. This is a must see for every American and history buff. More

I have visited the Legacy Center many times. The permanent exhibit offers a poignant education about Japantown before WWII, and also the experience of our citizens who were sent to internment camps. The changing exhibits are always excellent as well.

Wonderful, small exhibit on the history of Japanese people in the West Coast. Not too far from the Greyhound Portland Station. I was very happy that I stopped here in the hour I had before needed to leave for the airport. It was perfect for

Very small museum, but it's worth the $5 admission. The permanent exhibit explains why there's no Japantown in Portland anymore after 1942. The quotes brought me to tears. This is a reminder of the tragedy of war and a warning to those

The Oregon Nikkei (Japanese Community) Legacy Center/ History Museum is a must visit for everyone. The authentic displays and video interviews are important reminders of what happened to all Japanese American citizens on the west coast

I enjoyed my visit to this Japanese Museum. The museum basically is telling the history of the horrible treatment of Japanese citizens during WWII and the terrible Japanese internment camps. It was an eye-opener and highly suggest for

I came here on the Min Yasui Day walk and was super impressed by the display. For such a tiny looking place, there was a lot to see and learn about the Japanese American's who lived through the war and the interment. If you are of

This was a great museum. Very educational and matter of fact. It was truly heartbreaking, but I felt it was important to learn about.

I visited this museum earlier this year. The information was very interesting, and I enjoyed the art. We must learn from history to avoid repeating our mistakes.

Small but powerful museum that tells the story of Japanese internment camps. Don’t let the neighborhood keep you away.
