Just read a BBC report - Ultra-processed foods 'linked to cancer'. Some of us knew this for years that's why we go to Joe's bakery and not supermarkets. It's not rocket science. My wife and kids are healthier by God's grace and direction to eat from Joe's. The quality of their stuff heals your body, mind and soul. At a cheap price. We never buy whatever Joe's bakery sells from a supermarket. Going on hols - we always take a few and freeze em. By the way - if you are depressed, lonely, tired or require some TLC - the staff there are always loving and willing to talk (when it's less busy). I love em guys. xx. Also, I am almost done (sorry if I so love these guys lol) - behind the scenes - Joe's bakery feed loads of homeless people in Bristol. I volunteer for a local charity so I know cos JB give us loads of stuff for the homeless every Saturday and other organisations collect during the week FOR FREEEEE. I do not do post or reviews - but today's report by some overpaid scientists and government organisations to tell us what we already know is ridiculous. What you eat brings healing. Eat from JB and be healed. Simple.

I recently visited Joe's Bakery, and I must say, their ice doughnuts are absolutely delightful! They're the perfect blend of sweet and fluffy, and the icing on top is just heavenly. Not only that, but their fresh bread selection is also a highlight. The aroma of warm, freshly baked bread fills the air as you walk in, and the taste lives up to the promise. However, there is one small downfall to the bakery – they seem to lack air conditioning. It can get pretty warm in there, especially during the summer months, and you can't help but feel a bit guilty for the hardworking staff who must be feeling the heat. Nonetheless, I genuinely hope they address this issue soon. With such delicious treats, Joe's Bakery deserves a comfortable environment for both customers and staff.

Overpriced, Bad staff, Poor Food. This place is a waste of a bakery! first off would it be hard to keep warm snacks available? the display is dismal the choice is the same and the prices are extortionate for what you get. I'm more than happy to pay good money for good food but not so pleased to have my pants pulled down because it's Joe's Bakery and it's in BS7. And the STAFF... this gets my back up every time! me and 1 other customer in the shop on the other side of the counter 5 staff all bumbling about while I stand there not even acknowledged. Busy fools with the customer service skills of prison wardens! funny there is always a cue whenever there is a mildly busy period...

This bakery is unbeatable. Wonderful bread, cakes, sandwiches and pasties. They have a bakery shop and then a separate 'take away' express next door. The queue may be out of the door but it moves fast and is well worth the wait! My personal favourites are the sourdough loaf and the carrot cake! This is an established family business, making high quality, artisan breads alongside good old family favourites. Visit at Christmas for the best mince pies around and Easter for cracking hot cross buns!

I'm a regular customer of this lovely bakery, because everything there is fresh, top quality, fair prices, amazing taste and great service. But yesterday on my visit a pleasent surprise was waiting for me. A new addition to their sweets collection. A portokalopita (orange pie), is a Greek dessert. It tasted amazing and I know that because of course I bought 4 pieces!!!! Thank you guys for the great work you are doing!!!!

Great local store, and the fact that there is always a queue there is a good sign, there is a separate part of sandwiches/drinks etc. The main shop itself when busy can be a bit difficult to find out where the queue is starting/finishing and there is a door in and out, but people do not always use it Usually plenty of staff so you do get served quickly

Think I’ve died and gone to Heaven. Pre-ordered an Online Delivery of Sourdough Bread , sliced and unsliced, rolls, doughnuts and Raisin Danish Pastries. The Pastries are melt in the mouth and deliciously moist. I’m very much looking forward to the bread which smells divine. I’m hoping Delivery continues as this Bakery is exceptional. Many Thanks .

Amazing amazing amazing sourdough - we ordered 16 loaves for our wedding, 8 each of the seeded and regular. All our guests were raving about how delicious the bread was and we even had the cousins converted who only eat white bread (!!) Only downside was that there wasn't more left over after the party. Strongly recommend - well worth the ££.

  • Jana Sedlackova

So happy that this is our local bakery! We usually get the brown sourdough that is so tasty I can just have it with butter and stays tasty for another 4 or 5 days even without toasting. The pistacchio croissants are the ultimate breakfast treat! And everyone that works there is always nice - thank you for being awesome! More

  • Toni Simion

It's not for the first time, when I call with a day before to book pizza dough, and when I come next day to pick up the order, to find out that it's not in the diary....and of course they don't have any left over, and they say only sorry! That's it! what's the point to call than??? Absolutely useless staff!

  • Jane Mays

Great selection! I bought some Mothering Buns from here on the weekend (the only place in Bristol I could find some) and they were delicious! The only downside is the location; it would be great to have a branch in the South West region of Bristol too, such as Southville (North Street) or Bedminster etc.

  • 7rodney

Disappointed that click and collect and walk ups were being serviced by the same queue. Further disadvantaged in that I could've just turned up and bought five mothering buns receiving a sixth free. I bought six online with no such offer available. All products delicious though and neatly packaged.

  • Joanna Juszkiewicz

Good place to grab something to eat and a loaf of bread but their stuff is always grumpy and a customer doesn't feel welcome in the shop as all! Also super slow service, massive queues outside, don't know if the problem is not enough staff or ladies working there just can't be bothered...

  • TOM Stuart

bought a sourdough starter here about 4 months ago, went back to ask for a little more and they wanted to charge another £15, which i understand as its their business. Another bakery up the road gave me a load for free. shame as their bread is ok.

  • Ying Yin

This modest-looking bakery has delicious bread that can rival great bakeries in Paris. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. Don’t be put off by the queues, the girls inside are very efficient and it wouldn’t take too long to be served.

  • Annabel Williams

I moved house recently so Joes is sadly no longer my local bakery. It's a brilliant place, fresh bread and delicious pastries and other bakes. I wish them all the best for the future...I'm sure I'll make a special trip for those amazing arancini

  • Kate Beckett

Fantastic range of bread and cakes staff are friendly and have kept going throughout really tough times. Queues form at busy times because their produce is worth waiting for and they're keeping customers safe. Try the seeded sourdough it's fab.

  • E O Connell

The cherry Bakewell is absolutely delicious. The Greek orange cake thing is to die for. The pasties are delicious. Their sourdough, rye and German bread are also all staples in our house. Love going here and trying out everything …

  • Jay Newton

A good place to go if you're looking for a cheap lunch option, the express entrance on the left really helps cut down lunch time queues. They have a good selection of breads and pastries. The staff generally seem plesant and helpfully.

  • Eli Munroe

My husband just bought me back the best coconut jam sponge I've ever had in living memory.... my goodness the sponge was so light and rich... it was devoured within 2 minutes. Will definitely be going back to taste more delights

  • Ambient Dweller

Eve and Co at the Gloucester Rd branch are a joy!! Friendly, always asking how you are and always smiling. Top notch sandwiches and the steak slices are to die for. Along with value for money. Well done all involved. ❤ …

  • Will Bolam

Great local bakery, their sourdough bread is the best I've found in Bristol, and their rolls are very good - wouldn't do a BBQ without them! Also love the chorizo sausage rolls (though I don't think they're made at Joe's)

  • Jonathan Goossen

Delicious doughnuts, best we've found in Bristol. Great selection of other breads and fair prices. Thanks for all of your work to stay open and safe this past year, it's brought us a bit of normalcy every week!

  • Chin Hui Tan

The bread and cakes are great, but please try and encourage your staff members behind the counter to smile a bit more. I felt very intimidated walking into the store to be greeted by a lady with a stern frown .

  • Wendi Williams

Excellent service very polite and friendly staff, and they were very helpful in the current crisis, plenty of choice from bread to sandwiches and hot pasties and pies, I highly recommend the samosas.. Thank you

  • Rosie-Beth Hickling

  • Joe Mooney

  • Chris Smith

Collected sausage rolls and cheese and bacon puffs for Bishop road school fayre. Food was great as always but the man who served was great couldn't have been nicer to my daughter and her friend

  • Amelia

Wonderful bakery with so many excellent products at wonderful prices. Unfortunately I can't buy my bread here due to the soya flour but my brother and the rest of my family love it.

  • Tom Brawn

I had the best chicken mayo sub from here! Staff are the friendliest bunch of people you could ever want to meet and as a Bristolian I think Joe's bakery is by far the best …

  • Cirwen Costa

My partner and I always get our sourdough from here. It's gorgeous and fresh. The doughnuts are my favourite part about this shop though! (highly recommend their apple doughnuts)

  • Gwen Roberts

I LOVE Joe's Bakery- best bakery in Bristol for sure! Every time in come in here, the staff are so friendly! There is a reason there is always a queue outside this shop :)

  • Eva Fernandes

Brilliant selection of high quality bread, cakes and savoury items. Especially like the range of sourdough. A great independent local bakery, competitively priced too.

  • terry wilson

Poor customer service, both times i bought bread from them the top of the bread was very hard,, felt like they were baked from the day before. Never shop there again

  • oxyharmonic

Joes have been supplying bread and croissants for Easton Market for a few weeks now. They have always been incredibly helpful, and the bread looks and tastes great.

  • adrian diggory

Awful service, chef screaming out back, no customer care or attention. Food so overcooked it took an hour to reach an edible temperature. Never again. Avoid.

  • Ling Lee

I love their Devon slice. The cream is so sweet, the pastry flakey and the icing on top IS the icing on top! Only problem is they sell out quickly …

  • Khim Witty

Their pastries, donuts and muffins were delicious! Staff were also friendly, which adds to the experience. Will definitely be back for more tasty treats.

  • Nuala Morey

Staff are always welcoming. Excellent, fast service with a smile and always happy to make me my sandwiches as I am vegetarian and struggle for choice.
