Ok I don’t write reviews, but this insurance company has ASTRONOMICAL prices. We are canceling our plan immediately. I was in a minor at fault accident in 2017 and my boyfriend and I pulled me off as primary insurance and put me as secondary because we thought our policy of $3000 at the time was too much. Fast forward to now and we have two vehicles and we’re shopping around for new insurance. This company fed us lies stating that I am “at risk of being denied insurance” due to not being a primary driver since my accident. And I got ONE speeding ticket in the last 5 years (a ticket for going 10km over). Anyways they convinced us for full insurance on our one vehicle and liability on our second vehicle we owe just under $7000 per year. They were so convincing that I just agreed thinking that they must be telling the truth and I’m paying the consequences of my actions. Anyways, after our first monthly payment of $647 sunk in (on top of over all inflation for life, utility bills, mortgage, daycare cost for our son, gas cost for us to get to work so that we can afford to pay this “company”) we decided to look around again and do some fact checking. WELL….we have revived not just “quotes” but confirmed prices and policies from two insurance companies (and yes, both companies not only got a verbal driving history, but confirmed our driving history by looking up our records. So they factored on my accident and ticket) both of these insurance companies will insure both of us on both of our vehicles with the same liability amount as Johnson, for $4400/year. $2600 LESS!!!! They also stated that the “at risk of not being able to be insured” statement was 100% false and they couldn’t believe someone said that. Bottom line RUN AWAY PEOPLE. Day to day living costs enough already, Alberta insurance prices are crazy already, do not let these people add more burden to your finances. RUN AWAY! Enjoy the $1297 you guys have made off of us in just 2 months. Bravo to the money hustlers at Johnson!

Absolutely the worst company in business. To call, wait times over an hour. Email, they simply don't reply. Nobody takes notes or keeps records. 1 agent doesn't know anything from next agent. My last policy was cancelled for non payment meanwhile I'd been sending emails and calling daily to find out payment info. Because of this, it's impossible to get insurance with another company (any would be better) and they required me to pay the year in full for a new policy. I spoke with many different agents amidst this, waiting on hold for over an hour each time only to reexplain myself. I've emailed several times to no avail. Eventually I got a quote, when I called back to call in payment, after my hour long wait I was told that info was not correct and they added 1000 dollars. When I called back again to submit new payment, was advised yet again they had misquoted me. Eventually a number was settled on and underwriters gave the go to reinstate a policy for me. I was assured I was paid in full. A month later they sent me a letter saying I would be cancelled for non payment if I don't pay $700 more on top of the 3000 I had just paid. At this point I involved a lawyer as this company has cost me so many hours and misinformed me and cancelled me and complete nonsense to deal with. I paid for a year knowing I would only be driving the car for a few months. I was also promised that in the event I don't have a car (I made it clear I only need policy till september) they said they would refund the rest. Now I've been trying to reach them again for days via phone and email to settle this and they simply do not reply. If you value your time and cannot afford many hours a week of holding time only to be misinformed, don't even bother with this joke of a company and their joke of a team in customer service. I feel like the only reason they're in business is because no one replies even if you do call to cancel or terminate policy

SCAM ARTIST. This company and it’s adjusters fail to keep you updated or involved in the clients decision making. Providing 0 feedback and information regarding the dispute’s between Insurnace parties, offering no options to resolve. Time spent waiting on hold for over an hour, to be placed back on hold for a call specialist, just to be placed back on hold for another call specialist. My own Insurnace adjuster went ahead and CLOSED two accident claims without my knowledge!! My own Insurnace blaming me. Thus where I wasn't at fault for someone else’s claim against me, I went on to prove in court with a lawyer on my own, paying all out of pocket. They do not listen, work or fight for the clients interests or concerns, willing to take the easy route to avoid any payouts. First, approaching me to pay higher rates for an accident where I was not at fault in, taking 2 years to prove just that in the court system, resulting in my rates to go back down and removing the accident off my driving record. Again approaching me out of the blue trying to inform me that my rates would be higher for the year, because they re-estimated how much the vehicle cost to fix, another loop hole is this scam of a business. Save yourself and shop around. They’re in the money business, not for the customer service. I recommend Intact Blue Circle Insurnace. In the following months after writing this, I was contacted and my rates were lowered! Idk what the f*#% is going on behind the scenes, but because they did adjustment my rates back to reasonable cost I am willing to keep doing business. In my experience Insurance companies work for each other! Not for the customer. Either way you might be screwed

I had to call them again and finally they gave me a new adjuster she was good but still the process and headach I went through just to get this all done was just a horrible experience what if I wasn’t around and mom doesn’t speak good English would of been even more of a mess. All in all I’m just disappointed because I ended up losing a 1000 on rental for coverage which I was told by enterprise that no insurance company has coverage so I should take the 18.99 coverage? Which was a big mistake on my end because I didn’t need it suppposedly, pretty much the agent at enterprise Sunridge mislead me to believe that was true. Total mistake on my end 5- we’ve been with Them for years...

If I could give 0 stars I would. Worst auto insurance company we have ever dealt with. The customer service is awful. Our broker won’t ever call us she will only ever email and takes weeks to reply. They quoted us one price when we switched over and when it automatically came out of our account it was over $250 more than the price we were quoted and no one ever updated us to tell us that! It took two months to get that dealt with. The broker stated she was going to rewrite our policy at no charge as that was her mistake. Then it happened again and we had an invoice for over $200 for the cancellation of the policy! So back on to a two hour phone call to get nowhere and countless emails for her to deal with it we didn’t hear anything from them and figured it was sorted out as now our withdrawals were the original quoted price. Today I received another letter stating we owe ANOTHER $200 for the cancellation of the policy to fix it-once again the brokers screw up. We have called and emailed and have had no response and this is suppose to come out of our account early next week. I’m very unimpressed and will never recommend this company to anyone. Also I do recommend everyone google the reviews before making the switch. As I now notice this company only has 1.7 stars.

I m very shocked to deal with this insurance. They have very bad policies and procedures and they do not deal with us fairly. I had coverage for depreciation waiver but they add hidden clause and never mentioned over the phone and when 30 month over they still charge me the same and never did a review because they are newfound base company. I would recommend they shouldn't do the business in Alberta or other provinces because they said they don't have time to call their customer and update them. They said its customer responsibility to read the paper. Since I have been in Canada this is first time I m dealing with insurance who clearly write this "Depreciation benefits maintain the value of anew vehicle that incurs damage or loss within 6 years of the vehicle manufacture date" And they repeat this statement at point of selling but then they change if the vehicle 30 month later damage the Depreciation add why they didn't add clearly in the 1st statement. Anyways will complain to insurance regulators

Absolutely disgusting service!!! We had hail damage to our house (roof) and gazebo, they gave us a quote as to what they would give us and we accepted it. When the cheque arrived in the mail it was $4900 short of what they quoted us due to depreciation. I get that depreciation comes in to play, but they should have told us that before we accepted to go through with the claim. We put the cheque into savings waiting till we could afford the other $4900 to get our roof fixed when they emailed us asking for receipts. We told them the issue and what was going on and they said they were going to cancel our policy. No apology, no offer to let us give them the money back (since it does us no good right now anyway), just "we're going to cancel your policy". Screw these guys!!! I deal with State Farm for my business and they have been nothing but awesome, I'm moving my personal home and auto insurance over there in hopes I never go through this again.

They don't even deserve a 1 star. Unprofessional company that hires adjusters that won't even fight for you in a claim. Not only do you have to fight with the other party's insurance company but you would have to fight with your own adjuster as well. Its like all the facts and proof sent to the adjuster gets immediately disregarded. Got t-boned in an intersection because other party ran a red light, I am injured and losing work hours because of it, and they claim I am 100% at fault just because the other party said they had a green light with no proof or witnesses?! Adjusters are suppose to make the process less stressful but dealing with Johnson is the opposite of that and indefinitely stress inducing. If you're still reading this, take your business elsewhere, don't let this company screw you over like they did to me. Now I am expecting my insurance rate to increase for the next 5-10 years for an accident that wasn't my fault.

I've been with Johnson since approximately 2015. I've had great service up until this year. I had an unusual problem with my home insurance that took 10 months to deal with. It shouldn't have taken more than 30 days. I spoke to many agents who took ownership and said they would look into and escalate etc. No one ever did. Had a recent issue and I called Friday and got misinformation which required a call back. So I called back that evening and spoke to a senior agent who said they would look into and call me monday. Monday no call back. I called Tuesday and was told I didn't call and there were no records of that call. The agent hung up on me. I called back and there wasn't record of the last 2 calls. I've asked for the matter to be escalated Not holding my breath for a call back. No accountability or action on their part. Rethinking my provider.

Johnson insurance steals money fr ppl on govt disability. My health fell bad in late 2018 and I had house ins with them. I ended up in hosp for a yr and then in a care home where I still am. I was medically unable to contact Johnson and when they found out I was in a care home and not mine they cancelled my insurance. I have not resided in that home since late 2018 or early 2019 due to medical reasons. The house had regular furnace cleaning, taps were run regularly, lawn mowed etc . Family was helping me. They have zero compassion and steal ppls money. If they were going to cancel my ins and not honour my policy I feel that they should at the least refund me every penny since late 2018. Update: I reached out to them and nothing cannot it. NEVER GO TO THIS COMPANY

I've been dealing with Johnson for years, initially I always dealt with the same agent which was really great but I understand things have changed in this industry and all industries so now I get a different customer service person each time I call. Despite this change in the manner of customer service I still feel I get great service ALL the time. Every time I have to deal with Johnson, to make a claim, policy change or even just update my address the people I speak with are friendly, knowledgeable and willing to take the time to answer all my questions and check with other departments if they don't have the answer immediately. I have never had any issues and will continue to insure my vehicles, house and belongings through Johnson.

Excellent Service Top Knotch Company For Your Insurances. I have been with Johnson over a quarter century and at first I had my automobiles. Later I moved my house insurance with them. I have been their loyal client for all these years due to their promptness and diligence in all matters of insurance. Johnson is reliable and true to their services in all aspects. It be quotes, renewals, claims for auto and/or claims for house. You can rely on them for their service for any matters pertaining to insurance coverage. I have also extended to utilize their services provided for medical/travel insurance. Its having one company for all services. Thanking Johnson for their services and looking forward for many more years with them.

Been a customer for over 10 years, had a bad year last year for accidents.We had phoned them asking about our claim, they said the adjuster tried phoning, there was no call log or voicemail. We complained about that. So a week after that(still no update) they asked us to leave. Best decision they made. Thank you. Got no help when claims were made. Service is atrocious. Nobody will get back to you about your claim. When you phone nobody knows about your claim, they say you should email enquiries to adjuster, they don't answer those either. So if you want to waste your time and money use them. They were good when I first started with them, now good luck. Read the reviews.

Worst nightmare when we had to deal with them! It was very unfortunate we switched with them just before we got hit with bad hail! Very bad customer service, takes them forever to respond to requests. Talk in loops with no clear answers! We had our auto claim and we’re asked to send them the listings from our province to compare the price, if unsatisfied. We did so and they refused! They said that the listings should be from your city only as your vehicle is common! For our house, we are still waiting to get an estimate from last 6 MONTHS and the statements are changing forever! It is the WORST EXPERIENCE we ever had! Would not recommend to anybody..

Worst insurance company I have ever been with they want to get paid but refuse to do their jobs For it. had them cancel my policy claiming my accounts are frozen so I spoke to my banks main manager and have proof my bank was never frozen in my whole life. yet they refuse to fix their own mistake and this is after they refused to send me my policy card due to not having my postal code while having the correct address yet still lacked the common sense to google it nor call me till I got fed up waiting for it n called them myself. No communication No reliability No ownership for their mistakes And a complete disregard for their clients

I have a very worst experienced here. Before I payed $228 a month for my 2 vehicle. I bought another car and I close my other car to the new one. Before I register and close my vehicle I clearly asked how much will be my monthly payment now she said $306. So I was happy then.. now I received my bills it’s $524.86. It stress me a lot! So I called them and ask, they change their statement and told me that the $306 is the additional deductible and Not my monthly. So this is misleading me telling that $306 is my monthly but it not. I need to close my account here ASAP and find a better insurance. Be careful of this insurance!

Had an auto insurance policy for about two years on one vehicle, when it broke down I swapped to park insurance. Cancelled the park insurance after the truck went to the junk yard, only to find out it had not been cancelled two and a half years later. Was told that if I provided evidence of sale of vehicle they would refund me just over $500. They've come up with more excuses than even I could come up with, and only refunded 7 months. This company is truly criminal in their treatment of clientele, definitely will not be doing any business with them ever again. I recommend literally any other insurance company.

They take care of multiple insurance needs for me for the last 3 years. I feel really blessed to have them. Every year I used to shop for insurance and change. Now I'm confident that no one can meet their rates. I have 6 policies with them and will be opening a seventh soon. A number of companies have tried to buy me over. I challenge them to meet your rates and no one can come close. They have helped me throughout the pandemic with insurance relief, with dealing with my constant calls to park, and put a car back on the road as finances fluctuate. Staff are very nice polite and always so helpful. Thanks guys.

I've been with Johnson with 7+ years. The call agents for claims/account handlings are very helpful and resourceful on the phone. Most are also very polite and friendly. The first accident forgiveness was a big bonus for when I got in a collision 4 years ago. I recently had another collision and have begun to experience issues with this firm. The claims department is much ruder, unfriendly and at times they feel rushed or unconcerned with details you are looking in to. It is definitely been a pouring more salt into the wound experience. If you are better driver than I've been I recommend this company.

I’ve been with Johnson Insurance for years, and the agents have always been very helpful, personable and knowledgeable; they provide best advice, best service, and follow through with emails for future reference. I used to shop around at renewal time, and I remember going to AMA and receiving a huge quote compared with Johnson’s, almost double. I asked the AMA agent why is that, and they told me that they don’t know, that no-one can beat Johnson! Now this is a referral received right from a competitor! This year I forgot shopping around, it would have been a waste of my time. Johnson it is.

Just like most of the other review comments, my insurance premium was bumped up by $50 just for adding an additional driver to my policy with put me off completel.I have been with Scotia life insurance for the last 5 years and never had issues until they decided to partner with Johnson-Unifund.I have started shopping around already.I wouldn't recommend anyone to go with them.Though there are some good agents like Michelle who helped me reduce my premium. In addition to increasing premium I had to increase my deductible and lower my coverage to a great extent. NOT RECOMMENDED

I would give zero stars if I could. Hailstorm last week with pieces of our roof everywhere. Called them. Roofer showed up a couple of days later with NO notice. Informed us that only PART of our roof was damaged and they would only pay for that part of the roof. Incidentally the cost for that part of the roof is the same amount as our deductible. Shocker! Have yet to hear back from our adjuster. Not to mention the fact that our rates have gone sky high in the last few years. I can see EXACTLY why this company’s reviews are terrible. Stay far, far away.

I have been with Johnson for two years and everything was good untill this last renewal . My auto insurance went up 50 dollars a month , yes I know “ rates went up “ but I think 50 dollars in a little excessive especially with a perfect driving record . When I called them to change my auto plan to see if I could lower it they said there wasn’t anything that they could do . Also every time I call them to discuss my auto plan I am on hold waiting for 45-60 minutes. I will definitely be switching ASAP . Would not recommend Johnson insurance.

By far worst insurance company I have ever dealt with...and I deal with them daily for my Job. Been emailing the same lady DAILY with not one single response from her. She originally sent over incorrect insurance for a mutual client, her mistake. The client and myself both have had a terrible time trying to get them to fix THIER mistake. Still is not done and it's been over a week. Worst customer service I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with, don't waste your time with these guys

Terrible terrible service. Avoid this company!! Called asking for an auto quote and he pretty much told me to try somewhere else. I insisted on getting a quote just to compare to other insurers. With hesitation he proceeded to get my information from me. Then after 2 questions he basically said, yea we aren't going to be able to give you a better rate, try RBC. I hadn't even given him the numbers of what I was currently paying nor what kind of vehicle I was trying to insure! What a joke!

Incredibly poor in every aspect of how they conduct their business... I had a claim with them and their "approved provider" took 6 weeks to fix my vehicle. On top of that, it was nearly impossible to contact my individual case manager as I was told they spend 75% of their day answering calls in the cue and only have 2 hours to return correspondence with their claimants. This company used to provide WAY better customer service to their clients but sadly those days are long gone.

This company seemed great when I first switched to them, I moved 3 properties with them and saved significantly. Fast forward 9mnths and we are trying to sell one of the properties, called them to inform it was currently vacant while for sale, expecting maybe an extra fee. No they dropped the insurance on it and gave me 19 days of coverage. Try finding insurance for a vacant property. At least they aren't going to charge me to cancel my policy on the other 2 properties.

Been with them 5 years called been on hold 25 minutes still waiting called first thing this morning said due to high call volume and then told me they were closed it was too early fake messages also increased my insurance with no notice I am trying to find out why OMG finally got 5o talj to someone to find out my insurance has increased $600 a year for no reason I have never had a claim against it I am so mad right not will be looking for a different company

Absolutely worst service I've had dealing with any customer service. When it was time for renewal they sent me a letter to increase my monthly rate. Even though I have a clean driving record. I cancelled my policy and I was told my renewal payment would not be taken but when I checked my account they had taken out payment. I cancelled my policy 17 days prior to payment and they still took my payment. I would not recommend this company to anyone ever.

I have two cars insured with Johnson, they gave me the best rate and I've had no issues so far. My calls were always answered without long wait times, everything was super easy to set up over the phone and my questions were answered immediately. Sadly one of my cars was involved in a parking lot hit-and-run, dealing with Johnson to get it fixed was a breeze. I cannot relate at all to the bad reviews here!

Terrible customer service after they went to a central call centre. We have used them for over 10 years and were disappointed to find out how much more we were paying compared to other companies. Not helpful at all and unbelievably slow when it came to paying out a policy for a claim. We paid the penalties and pulled everything we had from them and went elsewhere. Don't waste your time with them.

Very hard to deal with! I'm seriously considering switching as I had my first claim. I was not at fault and gave the adjuster all necessary details for the other driver but 1 month later they still haven't even contacted the other insurance company to start the claim. I have phoned the adjuster daily and left messages but I haven't received any calls back since the initial call 1 month ago.

Incredibly expensive. Insurance is pricey and cancellation fees are out of this world. Agents are misleading about cancellation fees and how they apply. PC Insurance gave me auto+renter's for $40 less/month than Johnson gave me just auto. There was also zero attempt at retention, even after chatting online with one agent and speaking to 2 others. Absolutely would not recommend. Shop around!

I would definitely give zero star if I there is an option to do that. I've been following up couple of time to my assigned adjuster and until now i haven't heard anything. I got into car accident last November 10, 2019 and reported a claim the following day but until now I haven't receive anything from this over delayed insurance company. VERY UNFORTUNATE AND FRUSTRATING

I would rate this company a zero if I could. They don’t care about you as a person or a human being all they care about is money, do not deal with this company. We’ve been with them for over 20 years. We have been living in a hotel for two months with little to no communication. This is by far the worst we experience! We feel disrespected, betrayed used and spit out!

Been with Johnson for almost 12 years never had an accident or any major claim through them. Yet my rates have sky rocketed for no reason. Compared to quotes from other companies for the same coverage it will be almost 1000$ cheaper a year. Even discussing the rate the best they can do is save me 40$ over the entire year which is laughable. Will be switching asap

Bought a house and told them I no longer needed my tenency insurance. Today I found out they've continued to charge me tenency insurance for a year, and have refused to cancel it because of a co-tenent listed on the policy from 6 years ago? So i need an old tenents concent to cancel my policy? What? Stay away, they're not interested in helping you.

They told me to insure it with someone else and then come back after 3 years. I said if I had to insure my bike somewhere else I would take all my business somewhere else and all I got was silence on the phone.

With the amount they charge to policy holders with no claim history you think they would put more resources towards client service.

That is a significant rate increase for a clean driving record over 30 years!! After reading all the recent reviews, it might be time to start looking elsewhere.

I have dealt with Johnson Insurance, and their predecessors, since the late 90’s. I have occasionally checked competitors quotes and always found Johnson to be fair in premium costs. Based on my experience I am very satisfied with their rate, how quickly claims had been reviewed and overall with their customer service. When my friends look for an insurance company I have no hesitation over recommending Johnson.

If I could give them a zero I would. Worst insurance company ever. Just a few things to point out they cancelled our rental’s condo insurance without our knowing then blamed us when the condo flooded and we needed the insurance money. When we cancelled our insurance with them they continued to charge us.

And my rates for home and vehicle with Johnson's Insurance - a tonne cheaper than where I was for 20 years -should have switched years earlier!

The email they provide you with when you voice your concerns isn't even a even a real email. My husband replied to the email provided below more than a week ago and there has been no reply yet. Do not get your insurance from this company. Customer service does not exist within a mile of this place!

I waited 4 weeks to get a refund back. Y'all never even sent it. Terrible organisation. I'm so disappointed with how poor the service is. I have hit a rough patch, and cant even get my own money back so I dont go to bed hungry. Never in my life have i ever actually felt screwed over by a company.

I have had more than three vehicles insured by Johnson. Their representatives were friendly, helpful and came across like they wanted to help me. I have had one accident in my 74 years of driving and they handled my situation quickly, thoroughly and to my satisfaction.

Update 2 years later..Wosrt insurance company me and my family lost everything we owned do to the storage company they hired in calgary first general..and got nothing total scam and worst i ever seen to deal with now tied up in court with this usless company...BEWARE

Lots of Hidden charges, after you paid in full 3 weeks later they will come up with new charges and they are very unhelpful luck of knowledge representatives. Once they get your money they never response to your questions at all. And come up with lots of excuses.

Nowhere in my contract says if I cancel my motorcycle insurance I have to pay $300 premium for the off months now that I want to cancel they tell me I owe them $300 just to cancel stay away and go to a different Insurance Company I promise you won't regret it

I agree with The previous review. I used to have a great agent rep. Then it changed to an angry witch. Now it is a different person each time I call. 1 star for service. However, the rates are good... So I guess it all evens out. 2 stars for rates.

Johnson and Unifund are by far the absolute WORST insurance companies ever. Zero compassion and they treat you nothing more than a case number, actually worse as the adjusters were out to get you and I will never use them again. Don't go near them!

RIDICULOUSLY OVER PRICED. Shop around. Don't settle for this company. We were paying more for our auto insurance with this company than we are paying for auto, trailer, and home insurance with another. I would rate them less if I could.

I just got notified that in 1 week my insurance will be cancelled due to 1 at fault accident in 4 years. YOU CAN GET BENT with your GARBAGE company. Any time I've needed to call, it's been a complete hassle. Good riddance, clowns.

After being rear-ended, two months go by... I call them to see what's up for repairs and they tell me I need to call the other person's insurance company. No word from an adjuster, no word from insurance. 2 months. Not impressed

We agreed on an insurance plan for my car, after 2 weeks I get a letter in the mail explaining the insurance no longer covers collision. No change in rate just removed the only reason I have car insurance. Not a fan.

Only 1 day optional for insurance payments "Flexible" payments means pay the full premium upfront, or have monthly withdraw on the 5th. Don't waste your time trying to contact them during "holidays" they're not open.
