This museum is absolutely fascinating. The museum begins with explaining the old history of the beginnings of Copenhagen, the old wars and pandemics, and then explores more recent topics such as the introduction of welfare state and the way that Copenhagen has become a wealthy city. On a rainy day, this was the perfect thing for us to do and I’d recommend it to anyone.

The exhibition is an detailed overview of the history of the city of Copenhagen, starting from the prehistoric are till the present time. A great collection of exhibits supported with video and audio material cover all the great events of the history of the city. In my opinion it is the first museum someone should visit when she arrives In Copenhagen.

Small museum, mainly dedicated to locals (noy everything is translated in English). Visit it if you have a Copenhagen Card and is included, otherwise you have better options for visiting and spending the money. Short tour, half an hour is enough. Cool 3D panoramic view layout of Copenhagen inside, at the last floor.

Wednesday is a free day. The museum has great English offer and kits of small interactive things, like call on the old phone and listen to the call to the nurses there, and this is also available in English! I especially liked the movie about squatters on the last floor

Flot museum, der er overskueligt at komme igennem. Både på dansk og engelsk. Gennemgår København op igennem tiden og de forskellige bydelens historie. Rigtig flot og stemningsfuld med masser af genstande fra forskellige tidsaldre.

Vi havde nok lidt for høje forventninger. Vi regnede med en bedre udførelse og en rød tråd. Vi blev lidt "tabt" nogle steder, hvilket var rigtig ærgerligt fordi bygningen har kæmpe potentiale. Den specielle udstilling med tidskapslerne var lidt meningsløs. Ideen er egentlig sjov men udførelsen helt håbløs. Mere

Spændende og flot bygning med masser af historiske sager at kigge på og lærer om. Personalet er flinke og yderst hjælpsome. Caféen er også et besøg værd. Afsæt + 2 timer for qt nå det hele igennem.

Vi var op museumet efter at det blev flytte fra vesterbrog hvor del lå før og hed by museum. Det var en god oplevelse særligt udstillingen om di tilbageværende værtshuse i København. Resten af udstillingen var udmærket men mangler sjælen fra det det gammel museum fra vesterbrogade

An incredible museum! Excellent displays, films and interactive elements. We were lucky enough to visit when the Ib Antoni exhibition was on and fell in love with his style and work. The cafe and coffee were excellent too, and their bar prices very competitive! Go visit!

Some of the exhibition rooms are a bit too dark to take good photos (or sometimes even properly see certain paintings), but otherwise it's a great place with super kind staff

Very close to the National museum both can be done the same day ! an hour or two are more than enough, the ticket also includes the admission to two smaller museums in Copenhagen within 48 hours from the ticket purchase

The museum is very informative and filled with a lot of old collections of artifacts. It's free on Wednesdays and during winter not many people were around early morning.

It is indeed a must place if you want to know about prehistoric Denmark and Scandinavian region,also very good for people who want to go through the early Vikings history
