I put a $300 deposit on a trek remedy (which the store already had on order at the time) and then because of an injury was not able to go through with the purchase. I contacted Chris straight away to let him know. He had indicated that if I wanted to keep the deposit and see how I recovered I could put it towards another bike later. Getting another wasn’t realistic so I contacted them again around my partner’s birthday to ask if I could utilise it as a store credit and that I would be spending close to $700 on top of the $300 deposit (new helmet, clipless shoes, x3 shorts, x2 jerseys). It was passed on to me that this would not be allowed as Chris was ‘annoyed’ he now had to discount the trek that his store had on order prior to my deposit anyway. Pretty ironic as they were having a sale and their entire trek fleet was $1000 off. Very disappointing as I would have still been spending a significant amount of money with their store. Good lesson in substandard customer service and I’m glad to take my business elsewhere.

An absolute embarrassment. Went in to get a spare part as they are an ‘Authorised Trek Dealer’ and the bloke - who I can only assume to be the mighty Ken himself - wouldn’t listen when I told him what bike it was off. I was then told that he couldn’t find 5-10 minutes to stop and look it up in the system because he was busy putting stock away. Never had a shop actively prevent me from spending money I was prepared to part with yet Ken Self Cycles did so like seasoned veterans. If you’re looking for anything bike related in Hobart I’d go literally ANYWHERE else.

Bought a mountain bike from here about 8 months ago and couldn’t recommend a better place to buy from. As a beginner myself with very little experience, both salesmen were more than helpful with guiding me in the right direction for my purchase. I was able to test ride and try on protective gear as well! I get my bike regularly serviced here and they are always a pleasure to deal with! Amazing customer service and knowledge about their products. 12/10!!!!

Great service today from Chris who re-assembled and readied my bike (I’m visiting from interstate) to allow me to take my wife out to lunch before my Tasmanian riding holiday begins in the morning. Chris and the team were friendly, thorough, easy to deal with and I highly recommend them! … (nothing like getting a few brownie points in the bag before my first ride)!

I have bought two Trek bikes from Chris over the last year. Their level of care and service is superb. Nothing is too much trouble and their after-sales service and back up is exceptional. I would recommend any bike enthusiast to visit Ken and his family and get kitted out with everything you could possibly need!

I kindly ask if they had the time to fix my electric bike, it was just a hole on the tire and they denied their help because they do not work with "cheap brands". I was going to pay for the service, not asking for charity
