So I've only gotten delivery through an app but this is my go-to for fast American Chinese food. Don't expect michelin quality but it definitely satisfies my cravings and the value is there. No-frills classic flavors so far I've tried; Peking spareribs, roast duck, honey walnut prawns, salt and pepper fish, chicken chow main and friend rice. Today I tried the lunch special hunan crispy dragon beef with plain rice. It came with a personal hot and sour soup. Overall it was tasty but because of the freshly prepared hot food staying inside the plastic container it basically steamed and lost its crunchiness. It's nice to retain and reuse the takeout containers for later but I would actually recommend stabbing a holes in the corners to let the steam out and hopefully keep its texture. The flavor was still there and like the onions to help cut the sweetness. Maybe next time I'll ask for less sauce to see if that can help with the crunchiness too. Give this place a try

We have been ordering food from Kung Food for a while and each time it seems to get better. When eating in or taking out, the service is phenomenal. As for the food, absolutely delicious. The meatless chicken is amazing. It has the texture and taste of real chicken. I am not a vegetarian. My daughter is, and I tried her meatless sesame chicken and was blown away. Since then, I have been hooked. The salt and pepper tofu is also a winner. Not to forget the meat dishes. They are also scrumptious. Portions are huge and no skimping on the meat. I also have to mention the courteous service. Twice they made a mistake on the order and couldn't have been nicer. They were lightning fast in making a replacement. Overall this is, in my opinion, one of the best Chinese restaurants in the City. When you combine taste, quality and service, hard to beat Kung Food.

Y’all this was not good. I order twice cooked pork lunch special ($14) with crab rangoons ($10). Crab rangoons seemed they had been refried twice so they were so tough and dry to chew. Very little filling. Twice cooked pork was pork tenderloin instead of the expected pork belly. Sauce tasted like “everyday Chinese takeout sauce” and was loaded with MSG I got a migraine for the rest of the day. Lunch soup was questionably inedible - I think it was hot and sour? I threw it out. Cabbage and green peppers were good though. Rice also wasn’t great- it didn’t have a nice steamed texture but seemed kind of dry and reheated. I lived in china for years and wanted to see if the traditional dishes here were any good since the reviews are always so positive but sadly, no. Honestly if the crab rangoons weren’t so bad and expensive, I’d probably give it a 3.5

Disappointing. I ordered delivery and it took over an hour to get here. It would've been fine were the food delicious / good, but it missed the bar. I ordered Chinese broccoli + beef; sweet & sour chicken; and crab rangoons. Both tasted healthy (not in a good way). The sweet & sour chicken was made with TOUGH white meat, and the sauce oddly tasted like cherry cough medicine. ugh, probably the worst I've ever had from any Chinese restaurant. The broccoli & beef tasted like something I could make (but a worse version of it). Everything was so bland and tasted like simple salt + soy sauce + pepper seasoning I can make at 1/5th the price (if not less). The best thing we got was the crab rangoons - so would recommend this. Not sure where the dazzling reviews are coming from, but I was left very dissatisfied and barely finished half of what we ordered :\

Solid Chinese restaurant in NOPA. The quality is very consistent. I've been ordering food from this restaurant for the last month. Everything I tried was great. - Basil beef: good amount of beef, bell pepper and zucchini. I love the flavor of basil and garlic. It's right amount of saltiness and spiciness. 10/10 - Mongolian beef: too much onion otherwise it's a great dish - Sweet and sour chicken: very good. Well balanced between the sweetness & sourness. Not as good as leftover since you want the chicken to be crispy. - Shrimp dumpling soup: probably my least favorite since the dumpling skin is a little thick. I prefer thin skins. Very friendly staff and the restaurant seems to be active in talking about local politics from their posters and flyers (no comment here. Just an observation)

delicious vegetarian chinese takeout option! found this place on grubhub and it was really great! i ordered the Kung Pao Tofu w/rice and the vegetarian potstickers. They accidentally gave me an order of the green beans and they were phenomenal. lots of garlic and good spice! The veggie potstickers were so good. Thick doughy style potstickers as opposed to wonton ones. came with a yummy dipping sauce! THE KUNG PAO TOFU IS INCREDIBLE! i love when places *really* cook the tofu and it soaks up the sauce. good ratio of tofu:veggies. This is definitely my new go-to for chinese delivery:)

It's weird, it's the exact same stuff I get back home in Detroit from one of those hole-in-the-wall take out joints. Well, actually, 'Kung Food' is a little better, yet, their menu is almost exactly the same: we had "General Tsao chicken", "Orange Beef", and "Sesame Chicken"; tasted exactly like the exact same dishes served at any other Chinese take out. The big difference is the price: very high at 'Kung Food'. I guess if you're in a rush it might suit, yet everything tasting much the same wasn't very appetizing.

  • Saminda Wijegunawardena

This place is tiny AF but packs a punch. And it's owned by a Chinese rapper so they've got that going for them. We had a delicious assortment of dishes and the most memorable thing besides the quality was the absence of the never ending thirst that accompanies MSG. There was no trace of the MSG found often in Chinese food, so they deserve credit guess? appreciated if because it's the reason can't eat Chinese food anymore.

Hands down the best overall tasting + value for Chinese / Chinese-American food in the city (for my Asian palate, I grew up in Hong Kong). Awesome portion sizes that lasts for multiple meals too. Also, fun owner (Andy) who tells awesome stories and is overall a great guy. Some favorites: - Mushroom Beef - Hunan grilled Butter Beef - Basil Eggplant & Chicken & Prawns - Walnut shrimp - Mongolian beef - Meatless General Tso/Sesame Chicken (even non-vegetarians love this)

Loved this hidden gem! Come from Australia and was looking for a great Chinese restaurant! The combination fried rice was a meal in itself it was beautiful and the lemon chicken and orange chicken was fantastic. Such beautiful friendly service well done to this family.

Very good authentic Chinese food for very reasonable prices. We started with shrimp dumplings and pork steam buns. Both were awesome. We had the lunch specials all for under $10 each. We had the Mongolian beef, orange chicken and sweet and sour pork. Allot of food for the price and very tasty. They even throw in a generous cup of sweet and sour soup and an egg roll. I'll definitely go back and will recommend to all my friends and family.

  • Sarah Jane Bland

It's pretty standard American Chinese food but it's tasty and I like their wide selection of meat substitute dishes and vegetable dishes. I would guess it's probably not vegan but it's a good place for a vegetarian meal. Portions are very generous. For 2 people we usually order 4 main dishes and a fried rice and that ends up being 3 meals of leftovers.

Ordered food at 730 pm. Food was bland, no seasoning except for the orange chicken. A few hours later I was violently ill which continued all night. It was the only food I ate that evening so I know it was the cause. Not at all worth the $60 I paid for 2 entrees and some dumplings. The reviews convinced me to order here. They are wrong.

Chinese food tastes good.. it's great in my opinion. However, Kung Food even appeals to people that don't normally enjoy American Chinese food. The quality of their offerings far surpasses the norm; I make a lot of Szechuan cuisine at home and yet I am always very excited when I order Kung Food! I go for the Garlic Eggplant, yang chow fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, Hunan Dragon beef, and more.

  • Coach Peter

Good Chinese. Large menu lots of typical variety and a few house specials worth checking out delivery and pickup. But watch the pickup.. Parking is non existant pretty much 24/7/365. And I mean nothing close to feel ok about leaving your car for 2 min to pick up and run. Service is friendly, usual family kind of operation. Food is consistant, hot, decent size portions. Hot and soup was good.

  • Andrew Nation

If your a Chinese food lover like me this is the spot!.. I’m picky when it comes to my taste in Chinese cuisine. This restaurant reaches my every desire in ingredients. Well done. Their soup for appetizer is amazing and has a little spice to it. I ordered the salt and pepper prawns very delicious not too much breading over the shrimp just right. Try it I know it won’t disappoint you!..

  • Meg Jpeg

We ended up not eating here. Not the place to go if you're looking to enjoy your atmosphere or food. We were excited to arrive but there was a box of trash out front, a table blocking the front door, and clutter in the windows. Not accepting dine-in. It is stated online, but the whole not allowing dine in has gotten old. Ended up walking down the block to have a sit down Asian meal.

  • Gabe Sulkes

Love Kung Food! The most delicious friendly and accommodating Chinese restaurant in San Francisco that I’ve found. They are great on gluten free, understand ride noodles and ingredients and have gluten free soy sauce. I mostly get chow fun (generous serving size) but there are a lot of options. Ambience is good, BYOB is awesome. Staff is goofy and attentive. Highly recommend

  • Yuri Tolmasoff

Fantastic for Chinese food. They get super busy, so I understand why the phones are busy. Calling in orders is tricky. They recently opened up their dining area. If you don't mind the hustle and bustle, the food will keep you occupied with flavors and delight. Ordering online helps if you're on a short lunch hour like me.

I know it sounds strange but order your food in the old style Chinese boxes, it always taste better in them and these guys actually still keep them in stock. Normally they give you the new normal plastic container for what ever reason the food doesn't taste as good! Trust me, old Chinese food boxes! Not only are you saving the planet but you get better food, Win Win!!

  • Isabel Coosten

Wosrt take out experience in my life. The food came over 20 minutes later than we were told it would arrive (a total of 75 minutes for us to get the food). Then one of our boxes was completely broken on the top, and none of the dishes come with rice but are still expensive AF! The chicken was also completly flavorless and dry. Will never be ordering from here again.

  • Sig A. Rothschild

Very high quality chinese food indeed, seriously a hidden treasure in Covington. Only thing is there isnt much space in there, and long waits in you go during peak hours, but its worth the wait. Their selection off the menu is great and the food quality is awesome. We REALLY like the imperial beef stew, Brocolee w/chicken spicy level 10 and the Pad C U.

  • Cameron Kurotori

This is some really good Americanized Chinese. The spices and flavors were great. Portions were large Menu has tremendous variety and all the staples you’d expect. Crab rangoons actually have imitation crab not just dairy filling. I suggest you call ahead, put in an order , double park outside and hop in and out in 60 seconds.

  • Madelynn Gallegos

We weren't expecting to have such a great meal! The kung pao chicken was seasoned perfectly and the pineapple fried rice was the best pairing. On top of that Chino was such a helpful and kind host! Wish we lived here so we could eat here more often.

We ordered dinner from here, the entree (which was over 15$) didn’t even come with rice?? A pound of rice cost a dollar I can’t IMAGINE you would have to pay extra for rice? The crab Rangoon were terrible and the “dumplings” were wrapped in bao dough and two thirds uncooked dough. Will not be eating from here ever again

  • Ilana Peritt

My friend and I were looking for a good last meal in San Francisco before we left and were particularly looking for dim sum and dumplings. This place did NOT disappoint. The owner was SO nice and the food was fairly priced and absolutely delicious. The barbecue buns and veggie dumplings were among our favorites :)

  • Chris Grant

Hey I love their shrimp fried rice and deer Seafood noodle soup. PS there is a sexy lady there with black hair young and she's always wearing the white panda sweater. I would like to take her out hopefully I'll get to take her on a date soon.. FYI my brother George likes their food as well. Thank you …

  • Rahul Chawla

We ordered the Cumin Lamb, Garlic Chicken, and Combo Fried Rice. Plenty of food for 3 of us to share family-style. The lamb and the sautéed veggies it came with were very tasty, my favorite dish. The service was good and the establishment had a nice ambiance.

Ordered sweet and sour chicken and pan fried noodles. The chicken was sandpaper dry, the sauce a coagulated gloop. The noodles were fried crisp to the point of absurdity. It's also stupidly expensive. The wait-staffs are kind. I probably wouldn't order again though.

The portions were large and can be managed by a mere mortal or two. The food was very tasty and good value for money. It was great value for money with three main meals and a rice (noodles came with the mains) all for 35 bucks approx. Well done all at Kung food.

  • Ed Maguan

The food was pretty decent and the staff was very nice. It hit the spot for my Chinese food cravings. We had the black pepper beef, salt and pepper tofu, the dimsum, chicken and corn soup, green peas, and general tsao chicken. It was all pretty good!
