AMAZING FOOD We had the crispy wontons which were delicious, the filling tasted super fresh (not fishy) and the sauce served with it was so delicious. We also ordered the I also had the paa chu which were donut shaped tapas with a prawn and crab filling as well coated with panko and deep fried. They were also very crispy, cooked to perfection and seasoned well. For mains I had the vegetarian wok fried dish with the bamboo shoots, basil and mild chilli. The bamboo shoots were absolutely fantastic, I enjoyed the textures and the veg were cooked perfectly, none were overcooked. The broth was lovely and thick and the best I've had from any Thai place so far (I mixed in some of the sauce that came with the wontons and that took it to the next level for me by adding a bit of sweetness). I had it with the egg noodles. The veg noodles had also had tofu which I hadn't had before so it was exciting to be able to try it. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are well worth it. Will definitely be back to dine here.

Fresh and flavourful food with a nice mix of textures. Flavours are well developed. If it says garlic expect to notice it. If it says chilli, be prepared. Most of the meals have the option for you to choose the protein, the starch and the sauce so get creative. My personal favourite was the Kung Thai sauce. Let's face it, its named after the place, it's got to be good. Mildly chilli but I have also enjoyed the "Bun Mee" sauce before which is extremely chilli. Staff are friendly and attentive. The lady who served us was very good to us, a friend arrived late, midway through our meals, the waitress took her order promptly and also rushed it in the kitchen without us asking, within 10 minutes we all ate our meals together. There's a fair amount of vegetarian dishes on the menu. I sampled some of my friends food and found both of the days orders to be quite enjoyable. Food prices are a bit steep, expect to pay around R250 per adult inclusive of a few drinks. Both times I ate here I didn't mind paying this because I was so satisfied with the food. Portion sizes are also good. Wish I had taken photos of my food before we started eating. Below is a photo of the dessert we shared.

It has been eons since I’ve considered to post a review on any venue, Lo and behold, KUNG THAI is so deserving of the absolute praise I wish to convey. I’ve tasted authentic cuisine from my visits to Thailand and actually thrilled to find the true flavour available at KUNG THAI. The staff are ever so friendly and attentive to the customers needs, be it from the serviettes to the final takeaway provided. I must commend the Chef who is easily visible at kitchen dedicated and working her magic to insure that only quality and delicious dishes are served. Also the gentleman owner took the time to greet each guest and enquire about the meal chosen. This restaurant is truly a gem that shines so magnificently and I wish that they continue with the amazing dishes and wonderful service provided. Khop Khun Khrap, KUNG THAI. Ahaan aroi maak maak.

Prawn Tom Yum Soup

Great food and service... Enjoyed the pulled duck with a bit of chilli mixed in... The pork belly and crackling also very nice - pork a tiny bit dry, but with the crackling and sauce, it was really nice.. the prawn and crab donut was ok. Had chicken and prawn red curry for main - glad they add a lot of veges as well - it was good with only a tiny piece of feedback that I think it would be a treat with a bit more paste to be thicker and richer... Had the chicken with Chu chee sauce... That is a winner - asked if they could add some lemongrass into that which they did... That sauce with anything is such a winner - if it was bottled, I would buy a load of it .. brilliant service so all in all, a 5 star experience...

A great place for authentic Thai cuisine. Having stumbled across them by accident, I was pleasantly surprised by their duck, succulent and tender.. most places I know tend to overcook it. Their Pad Thai has to be one of the best in Durban, and I can honestly say it left my satisfied and itching to come back again for more. Add in the great service, knowledgable waiters and great area, Kung Thai is one of the best places to go for your Thai fix. Their prices are a little high, but I would say that it reflects good value for money and something of a treat when you want to spoil yourself or significant other.

Top notch pork belly with egg fried rice and extra chilli . Most authentic tasty Thai food outside of Thailand.

The food tasted great and the atmosphere was quiet.... Exactly what we needed after a very busy week... The only reason for 4 stars and not 5.... The portions are too small for the price. I had the Thai Green Curry and there was hardly any chicken in my dish. I was not happy about that. I am not happy paying over R110 for a dish that has probably the equivalent of half (or less) a chicken breast in it. Not cool guys!!!

Finally got to sit down at the new venue after enjoying take outs with Kung Thai. As always the food is great. Authentic Thai flavors and the service was as good as always. The venue could do with some extra decor to “warm” the space but otherwise was a great evening. The banana dessert is a must - best shared as it is rather large.

Kung Thai never fails to impress. Restaurant in Durban North is currently closed and they are doing take-aways, but high standards maintained as expected. Fresh ingredients, authentic flavours, huge servings that will leave you wanting more. Cannot wait for the new restaurant to open. Locations also at point waterfront and the food box in Morningside.

The food from this restaurant (currently takeaway) is absolutely wonderful. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from, and all the ones I've tasted are delicious. I highly recommend supporting this restaurant. Their ordering process is very simple, and your food is ready very shortly after you place it. Even though they don't deliver, it is well worth the drive to collect your order.

had a table of 8 due to my niece's birthday and was impressed the waitress remembered everyone's order without writing it down. food was fresh and tasty. i say that but i would not go back in a hurry strange as it seems. place was fairly full but emptied out by 9. the bill included a 12.00 donation or other which was a bit cheeky but other than that all was good.

This place which used to be awesome is now just average. Tamarind chicken- veggies are fresh but the chicken is not tasty. Beach salad is always a winner. Starters are good, calamari and fish cakes.
