It was extremely easy to create my membership at LA Fitness, extremely hard to cancel my membership. When I wanted to cancel my membership over the phone, they told me that I had to come into the gym in person to do so. I mentioned that I have recently got the news that I am immunocompromised and was trying to limit exposure to people and would like to do it over the phone. I was then transferred to the manager, who then told me that I still needed to come in to cancel my membership. I was told this at 5:15pm. I end up going to the gym at 6pm to cancel my membership in person since this was my only option. The person at the front desk told me that he could not cancel my membership and the only person that could would be the manager who is only there till 5pm. The same manager I talked to at 5:15, who told me to come in in person, not saying anything about certain hours I would need to come in! Totally wasted my time. It is pretty clear that they make it as hard as possible to cancel a membership. It’s too bad that businesses like LA fitness have a business model that makes most of their money from people who subscribe to their services who don’t actually use their services. They have systems in place, like this one, to ensure that. I don’t generally make time to run errands during the work day, as is true with many people. They know most of their business is in the early mornings and later evenings. To their convenience, these are the times where you cannot cancel your membership. I think the gym had good equipment that brought value to my life while I was using the service, but little things like this leave a bitter taste in my mouth.
I wanted to write a review on my experience with this club. I was in town briefly for a 3 month work assignment and signed up with a gym membership and training membership having explained I would only be there for that time. I was told when I signed up that when I moved I would be able to get out of the training membership contract. When I moved, however, I was told that I could not be released from the contract as OR has no such policy for voiding a training contract. In essence they lied to me and now I have to pay $240 monthly for a service I have no access to. There are no clubs near where I live and I have reached out to customer service without reply. Overall I have found LA Fitness as an organization to be unscrupulous, immoral, and dishonest.
Location just finished an utterly disappointing renovation. Purely aesthetic, now instead of looking like it's from 2000 it looks like it's from 2010. The only exception being a turf field that now takes up 1/4 of the space, pushing the rest of the equipment tighter together. The squat, weight lifting, and dumbell areas have been disappointing for a long time, but when I signed up from membership I was told that this renovation would come with weight lifting platforms and various other upgrades. Seems that was not true. I'm glad they kept the multiple racket ball courts instead of slightly expanding the worst parts of the space and equipment.
I really like this gym, but I am not a big fan of the remodel. It reminds me of a planet fitness gym with being crammed next to people when trying to workout. The personal training area is cool, but many people don’t use it and it is empty more than not. I just feel like I can’t breathe when trying to workout, but I do enjoy the pool and hot tub after a long day. The manager Liam helped me open my account and is very very nice! Every time I saw him there he would say hi and was very friendly. The lady who cancels the memberships was not as friendly and actually rude lol
New remodel looks nice, but I question their use of the space by cramming all the machines closer to create an area for turf that seems rarely used. Also, cleanliness is a big issue. The mens showers are gross and in massive need of a good scrubbing. Sadly that prevents me from wanting to use the pool or suana. I tried telling staff, but they seem more interested in socializing with their colleagues or playing on their phones. Disappointed and looking for a new gym.
Pretty good gym equipment its old but useable. I’m not in a contract with the gym it self but I get my membership through my work so I like it. Only thing that I can complain about is the staff just sitting at their desks and the front. While there’s people taking their shirts off in the weight area. Understandable like show those gains but there’s a bathroom and yoga area to do that. I know commercial gyms have a rule about keeping your shirt on while working out.
The gym seems adequate in almost every aspect except the reason I joined two months ago. I came here to shoot indoor basketball in the winter months but the court has only ever been half open due to an intractable roof leak which they seem to have no timeline for fixing. Each time I show up hoping there's been some progress, there's no news and the single available hoop has a 4v4 going or too many people practicing. Guess I'll go shoot somewhere else.
Come to this gym if you want your things to get stolen. Also dont bother to pay for a membership, the young ladies at front desk are busy playing on their phones or not there at all so anyone can enter and skip checkin in. They have no security cameras. Someone easily entered and cut my lock and stole my phone and other things from the locker. Another guy got his wallet stolen the same way. Gym doesnt care and takes no responsibility.
They make it difficult to cancel. For a subscription service with recurring payments, which is so convenient, they need to be consistent and make cancellation equally convenient. I asked them to freeze my account so they said they did, but my account was charged like normal for the last 9 months. I don’t recommend because they’re only focused on selling memberships they aren’t focused on taking care of you after they get your money.
This gym is a bit on the older side so some of the equipment is old but usable nonetheless! Loved the variety of cable machines to workout certain muscles, I thought that was neat. Clean locker rooms but I wouldn't trust putting anything worth anything in your locker. As of today the spa is closed for 3 weeks so beware of that but nice gym for the price.
Incompetent management and be careful of theft incidents. I accidentally left my swimming suit and goggle in the gym after leaving, so my partner called them and have my stuff stored with the front desk. We went back to retrieve them after a few hours, and unbelievably our stuff was gone - they couldn’t find the bag they stored for us.
I like this gym. I go early in the morning, and plenty of stations for everyone most of the time - not perfect but totally good enough for my own needs (mainly strength training). Showers and locker rooms are just fine. Has hot tub and sauna, of which I basically only use the former, from time to time. Courteous and polite staff.
Worst gym ever. Very specifically worst racquetball courts ever. Zero ventilation for 7 months. The courts are like a sauna. The AC was broken all summer, and still now not even ventilation. The manager just shrugs at complaints. Multiple calls to corporate management results in nothing. Who runs a business like that?! Pathetic
Working out here is fine but the amount of work you have to do to simply cancel your membership is bazar. There are no options to cancel online or in person. you are stuck paying $34 until you mail in a paper that just says "I'm cancelling my account." I would not recommend this gym.
Constantly dirty locker rooms They keep allowing people to pour water on a electrical sauna. When asked to change the the TV to Monday Night football they guy said they only had 3 channels. (If you have have CNN Fox and HGTV you certainly have ESPN)
It's not perfect but it's a public gym with sauna, pool, hottub, basketball court, bike room, turf row of punching back and duplicate machines for the more popular exercises. If they restocked their paper towels more often it would be 5 stars …
Staff really needs better training on signing up minors. She was insisting that we needed to be there to sign the form for our son that we have already signed. When my wife showed up the manger said we didn't need to sign anything.
Above all this place is affordable and clean, but some of the staff are not very friendly. The crew/maintenance people do an awesome job of keeping the place clean. Tip - skip the posers in the sales area and signed up online.
Great environment for all body types and ages with a wide range of machines to use at your dispense!! Also, with saunas in the men and women's locker rooms, there is no need to worry on the wait to get into one
The facility is bright and open. Shower and locker rooms are always kept nice and clean by this nice and kind young lady. Water in the swimming pool is nice and clean. Like this place a lot!
One of my favorites LA locations. They have equipment that other LA Gyms don’t have. It’s very well spaced out. Also they have a smoothie/drink bar. Something I’ve never seen in other gyms.
The pool is open, sparkling, each lane with a ♀️. I shared the larger lane for 1/2 my swim, then had it to myself. The water was warm enough to be comfortable right away. …
Sweating heavily before I even started my game of racquet ball. Then couldn’t dry off after my shower. Not awesome. Fix the ventilation problem!
Nice place. Been to plenty and this is one of the cleanest and layout is good.. perfect for weight training
They have pretty much all the equipment you need and it’s all in great condition. Friendly staff too
New member, I’m very impressed by the clean facility, friendly staff and high quality equipment.
Good spot if it's your company gym or you live close. Prefer other gyms but still go frequently.
Many homeless in the area. Did not feel confident leaving my care in the parking lot.
Staff is not polite, definitely an opportunity for senior management to improve on.
I do enjoy working out here... Respect to the staff for always being helpful...
