Good for a cheap movie experience. Popcorn (even with butter) was the worst I've ever eaten. They make and pack it in advance, then store it in a cabinet. It's basically cardboard. The butter coagulates into the small bits of the popcorn so you got some nice little wet concentrations of broken down popcorn for you to enjoy. Once you sit down to enjoy the movie you notice that none of the side speakers work and only the front ones are turned on, meaning the movie is pretty damn quiet and hard to hear over the others eating around you. Having only the front speakers work for a cinema is pretty much a deal breaker when trying to enjoy a blockbuster movie. To add to this, you have a front row seat to the downtown Sherbrooke cinema audience. Prepare yourself for a bunch of loud sniffing, a very talkative backdrop and getting the back of your seat kicked for the evening. I'd also like to say that I've been attending this theatre for 4 years and it was not just a one night experience. I'm just a cheap guy.

I love this place. They make a point of playing VOA movies, which the Galaxy theatre rarely does nowadays. The tickets are affordable and so are the snacks. You can see a movie with drinks & popcorn for under $15/person if you're under 25, which is great. I fondly remember in my teens going out to many a midnight screening, with cool merchandise and a fun atmosphere. A solid local business that I am happy to support. Some of the rooms are pretty small, but most of the blockbusters are in the giant halls on the top floor. The piece de resistance: there are not 45 minutes of commercials before your film begins. Keep it up LMDC, I love you!

The facility's foyer on King St. was clean and airy. The young girl at the cash was willing to speak English to my unilingual friend (a small miracle in modern-day Quebec). My friend and I saw the Ennio Morriconi documentary in a small room that smelled of old electronics. Perfect! However, the projection room grew cold after about an hour. Pity. On the upside, no sticky floors and no gum stuck underneath the comfortable seats. P.S. Check out the room on the first level with the antique projection equipment. You feel the history of the place and the magic of motion pictures.

One of the last little cinema's left that has not been overly commercialized by the big box chains. I LOVE this place as it reminds me of the cinema's of my youth like the Egyptian, the Palace, the Lowes, etc... that use to be littered throughout Montreal. It underwent some refurbishment a few years back but still managed to maintain its charm. Movie tickets are still very reasonable as is the kids combo. Clean, professional and nostalgic, it's a family favorite. This is definitely one place we are going to sorely miss when we move out west.

Back in the day when seeing an English movie in its original version in Sherbrooke was as rare as seeing a unicorn. Eight years ago, I brought my Drama students to see matineés of "Across the Universe" and "Slumdog Millionaire". Great! Then, more English films started playing on a consistent basis at La Maison. Much appreciated. Lately however, the trend is to show the VOA's late, late in the afternoon or in the evening only. Please bring back VOA matinées between 1:30 and 3:30 for older Anglophone fans of La Maison Du Cinema.

They did not give me the good movie tickets. I noticed it after the previews and went to see them. I missed 35 minutes of my movie. No sorry or apologies, like if it was my fault...they refund my movie money but they said I have to leave the cinema coz I didn't pay to see the movie!!! I am not the one who did the mistake....So, one worker came in the room to see if we were gone after 5 minutes. I left my full popcorn and the soda in the trash and we quit...I will never go again...

The place is reasonable and cheaper than the other available cinema Hall in the town. But some of the screens are very small and also they don't have 3D shows for English viewers. The amount of show in 2D is quite good for both English and French viewers. The sound system is not the best but quite good. They should add 3D shows also for the English viewers. It will increase their earning a lot if they consider it.

One of my favourite theatres. Look - they don't have the same amazing auditoriums like at Guzzo or downtown Montreal. But they do have a nice ambiance, a solid selection of films in the original English performance and some smaller films. If there's a theatre that deserves your patronage, it's this one.

Not too costly. Comfortable enough. Food costs are good cinema-wise. Had a outage for 20 minutes but after 5 they gave us the choice to get back our money right away or stay while they fix it and we'd get another movie for free. Will go again and not just for the free movie.

I love my Maison du Cinema that let's me see English selections. I think it's time to look into repadding seats in certain theater rooms as they are not vert comfortable anymore. Bit except for that, it's comfy, clean and I love this independant 18 room cinéma

  • Alex Brulotte

I live downtown and love the fact that there is a cinema at my door step. The viewing rooms are not huge which I also appreciate. My only thing is I did not only go to see a movie but also to escape the heat but good god it was hot as hell in there too.

  • Ashley K

Charmingly small and in a great location, but the screen is also tiny. The theatre is old, worn-down and kind of dirty, the seats are not the most comfortable, and it could use better ventilation. I'm amazed they were able to raise the ticket prices.

  • Charlanne Cremona

This movie theater has so much selection for movies playing and different show times to choose for. Located in the heart of down town easy to get to. The concession stand is also cheaper then going to one of the chain theatres like galaxy.

  • Jason Charlebois

Super cute oldschool, family-owned bilingual cinema. Buy your tickets and snacks together for a suuuuper good price. Then proceed to a cozy seat. Great staff, great prices, great experience. Way better than chain cinemas. Go to this place!

  • Dean Milo

It's a bit of a hit and miss for English movies. If you plan to watch in English go early after opening day as sometimes movies in English are taken off after a mere 2 to 3 weeks. Despite this, the place is clean and staff is friendly.

  • G. Severide

The screens are good but not their sound system. We've stopped going since asked them to raise up the volume and they refused. The snack prices are astronomical. Now we go to the Cineplex in Brossard during our shopping trips.

  • Gary Gerbis

I found that the employee's were very attentive and if you asked for fresh hot popcorn from the machine they would be happy to give it to you. They have no problem if you only speak English. So Thanks to the staff keep it up

  • Patrick Capes

Of the 2 biggest cinemas in Sherbrooke, this one is the more Anglophone friendly. more movies and more showtimes in English. Also a more local business, worth encouraging. Lots of parking, which is praiseworthy downtown.

  • Samantha Cote

They always air the big movies the Thursday before the Official Friday Premier and most people in the are don't bother checking. It's great because you get to see the movie a day early and the theater is often empty.

  • Lea Payet

Since I'm not a student anymore I go there everytime I want to see a movie because I'm under 25. The people who work here are always nice. I would really like it they could accept credit cards tho it's kinda annoying

  • Steven Mansour

I like this cinema lots, they have most new releases in English, even though they don't keep them very long. Staff is young but friendly and seems to care about customer service. Comfy seats, good screen and sound.

  • Jeanne B. d'Arc

the screens are smaller compared to other cinemas but they have great selection of new movies. parking is provided about 7 min walk away. The service is great and friendly. they sometimes even have english movies.

  • Andrea Ramirez

It's very good located! You can watch films in their original language or in French. The website is quite useful for the showtimes. And if you're a student, there's a special price no matter the day of the week!

  • Amy W

I love this theatre! It’s feels like such a nice, more personable (and less expensive) experience than going to a cinema chain. The staff are always super friendly, the cinemas clean and the popcorn delicious!

  • Grant Patrick

The theaters are always clean and we'll set up. Great atmosphere to watch movies and the English versions tend to have less people but they always play at good times so both Languages are well taken care of!

  • sara

I highly recommend this cute small cinema house...better price than the galaxy cinema chain and they have English movies while in the galaxy cinema in Sherbrooke they change the language of films to French.

  • Rene Cote

Went to see the Meg 2 in the Lux theatre and was a bit disappointed. The theatre claims the sound experience is incredible! There were speakers all around the room but sound was only coming from the front

  • Bobby Dorman

The parking is far and small. The rooms are small and the chairs are tight, uncomfortable and misplaced. Otherwise, there's a good diversity of movies and documentaries and lots of language choices.

  • Aaron Tringle

Pretty good cinema all in all however seating could be better and a little disappointed you now need to order and pay for bottled water instead of just getting a regular soda cup with water...

  • Forrest Sarrasin

My go to for English movies in Sherbrooke. Movie titles are current and the snacks are reasonably priced! Parking is changing with the downtown construction. Park at the SAQ or Maxi and walk.

  • Nathan Baron

The place is usually clean. Staff are nice, prices are on par with the market but not enough English selections at all. With regards to the English, they do have some but again hit and miss.

  • sonohuey

Cinema is nice with plenty of parking nearby. Offers showings in English. Biggest downside - they only take Canadian cash or debit card. Closest ATM is bus station across the street.

  • Eric Ouellette

Nice popular downtown cinema with many screens and offerings. Some of the screening rooms are a bit small for the older releases or less popular movies. No healthy snacks options.

  • Melissa Teasdale

Love this movie theatre - lots of variety and selection in movies playing, very reasonable prices and great ambiance / vibe. Lots of good restaurants nearby and plenty of parking.

  • Christian Pouliot

What's nice about la maison du cinéma is that répertoire films can be seen here. There is always something to eat and you can buy tickets from the Pizzicato restaurant close by.

  • Paladin

A bit old, but they will have movies in English when the others will have them removed, also one of the only places where you're not forced to watch the movie in 3D

  • Tom H

The best place to watch movies in Sherbrooke hands down, the ticket price alone is a good argument. It is only let down by the availability of free parking

  • Roxane Leger

The theater would not let us pass before people who were purchasing their tickets eveb if we purchased ours ahead of time... Otherwise nice place

  • Jonathan D'Amours

Prices are amazing, some theater rooms are smaller than standard but that did not affect our experience since we just sat closer to the screen.

  • Chant Afarian

A nice movie theater with smaller screening rooms. I like that the ticket prices are inexpensive for university students. I love going here.

  • Eric Bertrand

Good old fashioned theatre. Not the biggest screens. But some of the only English movies in the area. Great vibes. Cheap ticket and snacks!

  • Jean-Pierre Gladu

Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Wider range of international movies but blockbusters sometimes doesn't stay as long as other cinema.

  • Jenn Allen

Love going to this theatre to see movies. They have the best English selection, the prices are great and it has a great atmosphere.

  • Sara Fleury

Less comfortable than the the Galaxy, but this is a local business I'm glad to encourage. Lots of VOA movies and repertoire too.

  • Samuel Bouffard

This is one of the best movie in probably the whole of Quebec, with over 15 screening rooms, there is always the movie I want !

  • Fraidoon Amiri

A great place to enjoy time with friends or family while watching your favorite movie. Friendly staff and clean environment.

  • Etienne Falardeau

Great cinema overall, fairly inexpensive, great ambiance for all your kino needs. Concessions are decently priced as well.

  • Melanie Cutting

  • Taks Tambi

I cannot say enough how grateful I am to hav a theatre in sherbrooke that plays the movies in their original language!

  • William Neale

Tremendous ambiance, a great art-deco feel to the theatre. Keep giving us so many titles in English, and thanks guys.

  • camille berry

I love going here, it's always amusing and I live five minutes away! The popcorns are small but I love it there

  • Isabelle Dufort

Smaller theater with more screenrooms. Has the most beautiful exit in town. More movies in english. Love it.

  • Amy Tarzwell

Very cozy and cute, current English movies. Chairs are kinda small if you are big. Cheaper than Cineplex

  • Linda Wood

They have English movies which is good, but I wish they had more choices than I would rate it 5 stars.
