This is a small museum that you can see everything in less than one hour. It's at a great location on Michigan avenue with free admission, so such a nice little spot to enjoy some art for free. I visited in June 2019 and they had four photography exhibitions from Luisa Dorr, Nichole Sobecki, Nina Roder, and Jan Hoek & Duran Lantink; learned quite a bit from them. The upper level has mainly Christian art. There were also cute cartoons of saints by David Lee Csicsko.

Went for an exhibit of Steve McCurry’s photographs. The museum is right off Michigan Ave on the north side with paid parking garage across the street. The exhibit was fabulous and I left inspired to work on my own photography.

If you feel like paying eight dollars per person to walk around a small museum of entirely religious art, all while an angsty undergrad hovers over you making sure you don't damage the collection, then by all means check this place out. Otherwise, there are plenty of other places to spend time and money (and patience) in downtown Chicago.

An excellent experience, I went there several times during my years as a Loyola student. Some of the events were a little to 'high class' for my taste, but it was nice to be able to be able to walk around in a calm environment in between classes. A nice way to spend a few hours an afternoon.

As of 2/15/23 it appears permanently closed; signage removed, seemingly abandoned. With the constant looting of Bottega Veneta next door & Canada Goose on the other corner this is hardly surprising. Oh well, like the rest of Chicago, LUMA used to be a nice place to visit, now just a memory.

The permanent collection of Medieval and Renaissance sacred art and reliquaries is stunning, beautiful, and impressive; but it is the fact that they pair this religious history with contemporary art focusing on issues of social justice and inclusion that really makes it shine.

Took in the Shaker Exhibit. My primary focus was on the woodwork on display. Simply amazing examples of Shaker craftsmanship. Overall the museum is fairly compact. An interesting sidebar while your best girl is on the Mag Mile draining your bank account.

I enjoyed an unhurried viewing here of what I call art portraying the human condition. A good example was the photographic exhibit of Pigeon Hill. A photographic portrayal with an accompanying biography of how challenged people overcame

I absolutely LOVE the Loyola Museum of Art! The exhibits are both engaging, and absolutely beautiful. Every time there is a new exhibit on display, I make a point to see it. LUMA never fails to amaze me with its diverse collection.

This small museum is easy to miss, but it is worth to go. Entrance is free. Exhibition was about religious art from Europe: Italy, France etc., paintings, sculptures and so one

  • Frank Greene

Hidden gem in the city. Free admission through the summer. Nice collection of religious art upstairs, several pieces almost 1,000 years old.
