10/19/22 The store remains well stocked and the staff is helpful. Unfortunately it is still scheduled for closure due to the building of a new school. Local residents have set up a table to gather signatures to try and save the supermarket. 8/11/22 Update It has been reported that Morton Williams will eventually close to make way for a special education school. No closure date has been set or announced yet. For now, the store is well stocked and seems business as usual. 4/10/22 Update Morton Williams has varied produce that looks good and fresh. I was looking for broccolini, dill and shitake mushrooms for a recipe. Found all the needed ingredients. Deli counter has friendly service and is very accomodating on how you want meats sliced. Lines are well staffed and never a wait each time I've been there. However, I cannot vouch for high traffic rush hours. 2/24 Update With product shortages and price hikes, Morton Williams remains a good neighborhood market. Good sale prices on weekly specials like meat, fish, and produce. The produce always looks fresh and has great variety. Check out the sale flyer online and organize your shopping list before you go. I rediscovered Morton Williams on Bleecker St. Food Emporium in USQ closed and I was looking for a neighborhood supermarket other than the small, highly priced Gristedes on Univeristy Place. MW has a diverse selection of fruits and vegetables that are fresh, nicely displayed. The deli staff could be more friendly and helpful. Morton Williams is clean, neatly organized and carries all the key national brands you will need. Well sized neighborhood supermarket with weekly sale items on products you want for the pantry and your fridge. Checkout was quick and friendly.

I have been shopping here since last year. I kept coming back because the aisles and everything is nicely put on shelves. Not to mention the roast chicken is the best. I had come back to see if there was any lysol spray as I did not see it in the aisle. Also if anything is on the very top shelf I am not able to reach as I am vertically challenged. I asked one of the staff members by the front that was stocking something if he knew if they had any. He pointed me to the aisle I was in and I told him if it's on top I would need help. He looked annoyed and pointed towards another area for me to ask for help. As I approached the lady standing there also looked annoyed as she asked what I needed. I asked if she knew if there were any lysol wipes. She also pointed back to the aisle where I am able to find it and said it's on the top shelf. I was already annoyed at how not any of them took the time to go over to the aisle to help me as I am not able to reach. I just bought a few items. I would have given less stars but the cashier all of them that I have encountered have always been very pleasant. The other staff members should see how they interact with customers and learn from them. I have other people who have been helpful in there but is it about Friday afternoon staff that isn't happy with what they do? There are so many people out of work who would love to have the jobs. I was there after 4pm.

I honestly have no idea why I keep going here. Oh wait, yes I do - they are conveniently located for NYU graduate dorms. I hate this place! Everything in the store is over priced, however sometimes they do have sales. BUT, you have to watch the screen during checkout to make sure your items ring up as their advertised price or else you will get over charged - including non sale items. This happens often to me; the product will say $10.99, but ring up as $11.99. Sometimes the cashier will try to argue with you about the price, other times they will call their manager. Usually in the evenings they are super packed with long lines and horrible cashiers. I've been to this store about 20 times and only received good customer service about twice. I am starting to learn my way around NYC so I am able to grocery shop elsewhere for a better price. I do not recommend this place to college students like myself. Search around!

Great location - unfriendly staff. Upscale ShopRite owned chain in NYC. Offers higher end food from the deli and cheese department and a hot and cold salad bar. Neighborhood grocery store. Great experience however the detractors are the workers in the Deli department. Particularly one male in his 40's. He is incredibly rude and generally won't acknowledge me or other patrons while waiting to place an order. Doesn't make sense. Seem to get this bad attitude from the other members of the deli's department and two of the store managers (male and female). Not the same for the butcher and the cashiers who at least say hello and smile although they seem miserable too. Maybe because of management but I'm not sure. The managers and the deli staff could use an attitude adjustment. The 57th street Morton Williams has an incredible staff that is friendly and very welcoming.

I work nearby and shop here very often, usually prior to heading home. The store is always extremely clean and orderly no matter what time I'm there (store is open 24 hours and I'm in there at all different times of the night and day). The product selection varies between typical supermarket offerings and gourmet foods. The team of workers (managers, deli, produce, sushi chef, cashiers, etc.) have always been extremely polite and professional and quite helpful. I've asked management to stock items they didn't currently stock and within the week it was available. The sandwich club (buy 7, get 8th free) option is nice, too! I recommend having the folks at the deli counter make the sandwiches fresh instead of buying them pre-made and pre-packaged. It's worth the wait at the counter.

don't stay in the bathroom for too long.. despite my name, i am female and well frankly at my time of month, the urge to go can be pretty strong.. i was in the bathroom for no more than 10 minutes, I was about to finish up and a man said something like "Women's cleaning service" in a meek way.. I felt as there was no need to answer as I thought I was just going to mop the front of the room before he got to the stalls.. all of a sudden some woman started yelling "Who's in here?!" and hit the door or something..and continued to do loud things for a short time and went in the stall next to me.. I saw her when I washed my hands and when I bumped into her again in the aisles, she said something angrily to me in Spanish.. lol soul smashing..

It's small, clean, and ok. The cashiers are not unpleasant but not pleasant. This is definitely not the Morton Williams type of store in familiar with at all. It's more like a local, neighborhood market. Good selection, some of the prices are not competitive, and I noticed many prices on the shelves are not the same price as the product. For instance the shelf says an item is 3.99 but it has a sticker at 4.29. There are several examples of this throughout the store. Today was my first and last experience as there are multiple grocers within the same ten minute walk. TL;DR: not great, not bad.

  • John Ryan

This store offers a wide selection of grocery lines and a select offering of hot foods and deli lines. There is a in-house sushi prep area... really cool.. but they prepare exactly the same tray selection everyday!! The fresh fruit and veg is poorly managed with the newest product on top(great for the shopper not so good for waste nanagement) and a wide selection of organic produce. Grab their weekly leaflet when you arrive as their offers are quite good. The counter staff generally are pleasant and efficient. Not cheap but well nothing is in this neighbourhood.

  • DEADMANS BABY

LOVE THE CONVIENIENCE OF THEIR HOURS 24/7. MOST OF THE STAFF IS GREAT ESPECIALLY THE LADIES WHO WORK CASHIER. THE MANAGER AND SECURITY ARE NOT NICE THOUGH. I HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR OVER 35 YEARS AND THEY SEE ME ALWAYS BRING NEW CUSTOMERS. I PAY OR THEY PAY FOR ALL WE GET. WHY DO THEY STILL FOLLOW ME AROUND THE STORE LIKE SOME THIEF? IT'S VERY OVERPRICED FOR MOST ITEMS. THAT'S THE PRICE OF CONVIENIENCE. I WOULD GIVE LESS STARS BUT THE CASHIERS ARE EXCELLENT AND THE OVERPRICED FOOD, DRINKS ARE VERY FRESH AND TASTY FOR THE MOST PART.

  • Brian McFee

This place habitually overcharges at the register compared to marked prices. Two of my last three visits have been incorrectly charged. Cashiers are always good about providing refunds, but the management seems to bet on customers not noticing or caring enough to check receipts. The most recent excuse was that the system hadn't been updated with the current price tags. Seems pretty sketchy. Also there's a bird that lives in the store above their buffet trays. Gotta be some kind of health code violation there. Definitely avoid.

  • m. s.

Clean super market that open 24 hours with reasonable prices. The isles are very neat and products on shelves are very well organized. Produce section are also very well maintained. However there is an inside section near the exit that's suposed to be a seating and eating area that is littered with the homeless population hanging around making a mess. The management should take steps to prevent loitering and maintain cleanliness throughout the entire store.

  • Janes Rans

Nice place, however, it's kind of a panhandling spot for unfortunate homeless/drug addict/alcoholic people. It's close to to Washington square Park which is nice. But there are methadone clinics and homeless shelters all over the area that you would not are there unless you live on the same streets. They don't exactly advertise what they do in those buildings. But overall, it's a great place with hardworking, helpful and friendly staff throughout

  • Eliza King

Horrible night shift staff. Literally walked in last night and a grocery delivery guy was getting cursed out by the front end cashiers. Nobody helped the guy out and I felt bad for him. The cashiers were all Hispanic and rude. Not to mention they kept saying the n word to him would not recommend for late night shopping. Will not be shopping there anymore in the future .Very bigoted and nasty staff!

  • Ross Campbell

Open 24 hours and close to NYU. That's all I can say for it. Against: pretty pricy, staff are unresponsive or rude (one cashier looked at my ID for 2 minutes and scratched at it with her nails. I'm ok with vigilance, but overall awkward experience), and sometimes unclear how much anything costs (price stickers are either misapplied or out of sight).

  • Maya J

Morton is pricey, but is good if you are looking for standard grocery products that you can't find at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. The meat section can be surprisingly good sometimes. For some produce items you find that they are the same as anywhere else. Keep your expectations grounded for customer service/checkout. Bring your own bags!!!!

  • Kim Fazio

I frequent this market because it's time convient for me. I agree with the reviewers that stated the staff are hostile if you need assistance. Seems they are unhappy and it shows in their face. I have been in the market when there is commerical taping occurring and the attitude is more friendly. Too bad the owner does not see this.

  • Robert Piche

A quick, affordable, grocery store offering organic and traditional foods. They have a huge well stocked salad bar offering both cold or hot options and soups. The prices are fantastic considering they are dab middle of Manhattan. Open 24/7 which is also great. Restrooms are available to customers except from midnight till 9am.

You can basically find what you're looking for whether a loaf of bread and the fixings to go in the bread great eclectic varieties of food. Staff very helpful service animals are also welcome clean and well light .☕ pet foods groceries and very clean …

The store at 130 bleecker street in Soho too many bums asking for money staff is snotty don't wear masks the hot food on steam table is cold not kept at proper temperature good place to catch a food borne illness when I said something to deli person he shrugged his shoulders said what do u want me to do stay away stay away

  • Mike Stamatelos

Be careful of the price for the Christmas trees outside. A 6’ tree is $130+. A 7’ tree is ~$60 at Whole Foods down the street. They do not list their prices or the name of their company. The Christmas tree company is not listed on Google or Yelp. Writing the post here as there is not a way to review the operation outside.

  • Angie Giordano

Had everything I needed but a little overpriced and staff was very helpful the fruits and vegetables are very fresh but they were a little overpriced also but no matter where you shop today everywhere is ove rpriced but check it out for yourself you won't regret it I give this store a thumbs up …

  • Maneo Choudhury

They are removing Ben and Jerry's from their shelves for absurd political reasons. They could have just ignored the issue but they went out of their way to express their terrible views. If that's the game they wanna play, I see no reason to ever shop there again. There are other stores that do carry good ice cream

  • DC Cymbalista

it is a bizarre supermarket - somehow more international foods, with more retro brands, and with more fun candies and offerings than you would think when you enter into it. worth exploring - and while some items are expensive it is also home to the $2.99 hummus and the $1.99 bags of italian chocolate candies!

  • Ashley Dawson

My go to late supermarket....they have a huge selection on grab and go food and deli meats/cheeses. It may come as pricey bc you're in the city but alot of items are reasonable prices. They have a whole seating area where you can grab coffee, which is pretty cool. The best part is that they're 24 hours!!!

  • Al Heitzer

Its bathrooms are deplorably filthy with either no toilet seat or both in disrepair. I am a senior with medical problems that mandate use of a bathroom at least once each half hour. I always clean up after myself but these two stalls in the men's bathroom are a horror story.

  • Jason Hawkes

Hot food Buffett great and inexpensive for area. On second thought they became lazy with the food offerings and late bringing the food out 2:30pm and still was waiting for them to bring out the second half of food their are better options cheap for here but better elsewhere

  • hajila

Horrible staff. I brought bottles back because the drinks were putrid. The rims of the bottles were pitch black. The manager refused me a refund, said it was the manufacturers fault which is a lie, and had a snide and aggressive attitude. Worst customer service I've seen.

  • Hattie Lynch

Love how lucky I am to have Morton Williams so close to me! The store has always been clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. They do a great job. I've also noticed an improvement of displays since their newest manager, Ron, took over. Keep it up!

  • Edward Vangieson

I've been to the two Morton Williams in NY and personally I prefer the NY one. This one is pretty small and crowded. There is not as much selection as the one in NY . I feel like it will only get better! So hopefully I can stop by as it slowly improves!

  • Troubodour

It's a pain to ask for help from the staff, I ask where I can find a product and they don't even answer. I made a 200-dollar purchase and after the cashier passes the products, she leaves the cash register and leaves, so I pack them on my own.

  • July Serrano

I rather give no stars to this supermarket!! Employees are not helpful at all. To many cashiers and not 1 going around to check if someone needs help. Employees need a tour around the market to know where items are at. Very poorly managed!!

  • Johan Rivera

It's cool. Expensive like you think it'd be, but some surprising sales for the area. Workers are very blue collar no nonsense but they're just trying to do their jobs and I love that. Also better prices on cheeses than I initially thought.

  • D A

I've been a regular for many years. It's good for most essentials. The vegetables or fruits are sometimes not fresh or rotten. Some older employees are nice but there are some cashiers that are always incredibly rude and just make me not

  • Brittany Miller Lappano

A really enormous grocer with a fun New York City, and specifically neighborhood theme. Lots of options, affordable prices, and elbow room unlike other city grocery stores. Morton Williams also has a fantastic selection of prepared foods.

  • Samriddha Malla

It is a big supermarket with varieties of goods. The fruit and vegetables were really fresh. Also has organic produce. The deli had good food and looked very delicious and sanitary. The staff were also respectful and helpful. Loved the

  • jeff goldberg

Great supermarket. Good options for prepared foods. Nice, friendly staff. Chairs and tables to dine in. Really, everything you need in one stop shopping. Lots of gluten free and dairy free options you won't find in other supermarkets.

  • James M. Keane

Incredibly EXPENSIVE! Visit Only if the alternative is death by starvation - unless you want a good laugh at the prices. Costs average 300 to 400% of what you'd pay anywhere else in the USA while the selections are pathetic.

  • Rashada Ireland

They have every household items at reasonable prices. They have so many different locations and so many products sometimes you get lost lol but I can guarantee you that’s it’s one of the best supermarkets to shop at.

  • Philip Etienne

love having this place in the neighborhood - the prices are sooooo much better than any other place in walking distance and the selection is pretty diverse - the produce is damn good - even compared to whole foods

  • Savannah Dempsey

Lots of options but I’ve only ever had bad experiences. Customers are rude, workers are rude, usually only 2 registers open during busy times, certain groceries are overpriced. I try to avoid.

  • Nahum Chiu

Very clean and well stocked with a variety of brands not typically stocked in the average supermarket. They also have many Shoprite branded items. Worth a look if your health-conscious.

  • nicole lamoreaux

Place is usually well stocked. I wouldn't buy the milk as it usually goes bad quickly. The produce is good if you're planning on eating it within the few days after purchasing.

  • Francesca Villanova

Every time I buy prepared food from this location, it goes in one hole and comes out the other hole in half an hour. Whoever cooks here doesn't care about food safety! Beware!

  • Lance Thompson

Can be very expensive. Has a help yourself cafeteria area. Can get made to order sandwiches and cured meats. This is an expensive supermarket.. Very few items go on sale here.

  • Ajunwa Courage

Its the best place to shop although some things there are quite expensive... But apart from that its has every good quality and decency that its very important for a store

  • JamJam Jamilah

turn an corner and JUMPSCARE there is a aisle dedicated to israeli produce. owner of this chain is a zionist. would not frequent if you are against genocide & apartheid

  • Kathryn Steiman

Huge selection of produce and shelf goods. Meat/fish dept. is OK. Pricing can be very good to exorbitant. Shop the sales, compare prices between brands. Staff is nice.

  • Ashley Yu

Nearby a lovely park with few seats. Many items and pretty much organized. The traffic light sign of registers and the street sign of the aisles are very interesting!

  • Giacomo B

Not a bad supermarket, decently sized considering the area. I didn't appreciate the fact that some products didn't have the price tag, in my case it was the bagels

  • Ivan Beacco

Due the lack of decent markets around the area, this is very popular. But the staff is quite cranky and the place itself is dingy, not in a bohemia kind of way...

  • Teekay Mahleka

The pricing labels were not placed well with some items not having prices at all so had to ask at the till. Other than that it was a decent shopping experience

  • Ross Johanson

Sigh...multiple returns for spoiled milk, fish, meat. This market is the inspiration for the NYC food horror stories you hear so often. Avoid at all costs.

  • Christina

Normally stop by this location after work, late night. It’s quiet with very little foot traffic. Love it. They also have a large variety of goods as well.

  • Jherriann Barker

I was able to get salted cod ,which is what I had a craving for, it was the only place within the vicinity, where I work here on 5th Ave that carries it.

  • Anthony Ptak

It's essential market for the neighborhood. Eclectic selection is always a bit different. Pricing is good for some items and overpriced for others.

  • Soorim Song

Great prices, especially for such a convenient location. I hope NYU will not demolish the building - this supermarket has fed so many students!

  • Steven Ferraro

A little bit pricey, but clean, well stocked shell's make up for it. At about 7am at the one by Mercer Street there was like no one shopping???

  • KING MORRIS

I always appreciate the effort that’s put into the visuals of this store, plus they have a lot of products that I can’t find anywhere else.

  • Lucinda Grange

This place might be the best thing to happen to a Brit abroad! Loads of British foods at reasonable prices. Wonderful find.

  • Hope Lyon

Good neighborhood market with all the stuff you need. Deli opens very early which is a bonus. Lots of prepared foods too.

  • Lamia Alami

Love that supermarket! They have a good selection of international products. The 1 in Greenwich Village is open 24h 7/7

  • Teddy Kyung

Good selection of items and weekly sales. I'm informed this store will be gone and become a school in next couple years

  • Judith Steinman

The only real supermarket in my neighborhood. They have lots of ethnic foods, good produce, and a good meat department.

  • Randi Luxenberg

  • Klas Eskilson

Some of the staff aren't super friendly. High prices. Good selection of fresh goods. Huge beer selection.
