Easily the best customer service I've had in perhaps forever. I recently had surgery on my leg, making it so I'm unable to drive or even walk for the next few months. I wanted to make Valentine's day special for my wife, who has been doing all the "heavy lifting" with me laid up, so I decided to recreate her favorite breakfast from a local restaurant that was a Covid-casualty - Cinnamon Swirl French Toast. The key ingredient was Macrina Cinnamon Swirl Brioche, which is only sold in their shops. The easy solution was to have it delivered via DoorDash but after a week of trying (unsuccessfully) to get the bread to show up in the app, I was about to give up. I had spoken with a few managers and none could get it working. As a last ditch effort, I called one last time and spoke with someone new, who listened to my story and tried every option they had - and it still wouldn't show up. So, instead of telling me "too bad, sorry about that" - they offered to HAND DELIVER the loaf themselves. Obviously this is not standard service and was not to be expected, but they seemed moved by my plight and wanted to help out. I cannot express how grateful I am for their actions - there is certainly a reason they are the General Manager. Oh, and the French Toast was amazing. :)

Upon arrival to Seattle we had to wait several hours to get into our airbnb. We had a ton of luggage with us and did not want to drag it all around with us. We saw this little bakery coffee shop around the corner that had a steady flow of customers in and out. We decided to stop in for a bit. We sat down with all of our luggage and the staff weren't bothered by it. I purchased a sandwich on a fresh toasted baguette. The sandwich was absolutely wonderful. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They used quality meats and fresh greens. As we sat for awhile a homeless man came in and got a cup of water from their self serve watering hole. Nobody gave him and problems nor did he create any. The staff members treated him like just another patron. It warmed my heart to see that. The atmosphere is light and open with a very relaxing feel. It was a great place to take a few minutes to calm ourselves after some stressful traveling and to get a little nourishment. Lucky for us our airbnb is in the building right behind them and I get to enjoy their baked goods every day while here. I absolutely recommend this establishment.

Just a little bummed that I always feel like an inconvenience to everyone working at Macrina. Love the bakery, everything is delicious and fresh and the coffee is actually very good regardless of what you get. However, everyone is slightly morose. I had a lovely convo one morning with Bia and another person who made my coffee but then the next time I was there I over heard a conversation that 2 of the employees were having with a customer at the register. The jest was none of them like saying hi to people nor do they ever do it willingly. Just gross. Like that kind of convo should be done outside of work. At the time of the convo the bakery was full of customers and I had just ordered, everyone in the bakery could hear this exchange. Needless to say I’m put off by the lack of customer consideration. I totally support a casual vibe but can there be a little customer service education?

  • Genuinely Whatever

Wow. TERRIBLE. Asked if I could order a breakfast sandwich on a bagel. “NO, you have to but the breakfast sandwich and then buy the bagel and switch it”. My mother who is visiting went ahead and ordered a toasted bagel with butter and jam. They gave her a bagel, with cold butter on the side, jam on the side, and when we asked for a utensil they told us they didn’t have any to “LEND OUT”. What?!? The bagel was STALE, definitely a couple of days+ old. The only pleasant part was the human who was making the actual coffee, who seemed embarrassed for us about the interaction she just witnessed. So rude. So unhelpful. This place won’t last long. Negative stars.

The staff at the Belltown Macrina couldn't be more helpful or welcoming. We went twice during a short stay in Belltown and both times were great. The pastries are beautiful and the sourdough bagels are delicious as well.

Whether you're dropping in for your morning beverage, need a quick bite or just have a hankering for a sweet treat, Macrina delivers. Options include quiche, soups, sandwiches, a selection of salads, (their quinoa salad is the bomb!), and an array of delectable pastries. Coffees, teas, and fizzy beverages are also available here. Friendly staff and prompt service await you, and their patience is on point as you gaze in wide eyed wonderment at the plethora of goodies and try to make a decision on which scrumptious tidbit you imbibe. .and if indecisiveness plagues you, just ask for one to go!

Most disappointing Macrina Bakery experience. Croissants were decent but the bagels were overcooked and very tough to chew. Avacado toast tasted average at best. They didn't have sugar free options in coffee when I visited. We also had to wait in line for 15 min while there were only 3 customers before me. It appeared to me like the same person was taking orders and preparing them as well but I later saw that there were more people working inside. Not sure why it took so long. The situation with a line got even worse around the time we left.

We were two tourists walking around on a sunny December day looking for a great coffee spot and found Macrina! Wonderful baked goods and the best Americano I have ever had. Really nice friendly staff, relaxed and comfortable vibe, it was just what we were looking for—a very enjoyable stop!

Love their baked goods, and service is generally good when I come to this location. But really disappointed this morning. We just got a couple granola bar cookies, and the lady at the cashier till gave herself a 18% tip before flipping it back to us to insert our card. Note, no issue tipping and usually do; but never have I encountered a casier/server inputting the tip for me without asking nor mentioning it. Real sneaky and rude. To Macrina customers: check your bills.

  • Willie Porche

The place is nice and clean. Prices are a little high. $42 for breakfast for two. They love their herbs. Both dishes we had were full of them. Thr roasted potatoes were on point. Very good and crunchy on the outside with a soft silky interior . They don't' like to do substitutions, and a lot of their sandwiches are premade. No mayo in the shop. Coffee is great though. There is a lot of locals stopping in for wuick bites and ordering fresh bread for the day.

  • James

At the recommendation of our AirBnb host, we popped in here for some coffee and baked goods. We were not disappointed, even when coming in with high expectations. Macrina Bakery exceeded those expectations in the deliciousness of their food and coffee and the friendliness of their staff, even when we were pulling way too much luggage around the shop. It made for the best place to wait while we waited to drop off said luggage. I can't recommend them enough.

  • Narine Harut

Very nice small Bakery, clean and well maintained, nicely designed and decorated, great customer service, nice selections of savory dishes and baked goods. My niece and I choose one dish (by the way they big enough for two people), so we asked if they can divided for us in separate plates, which they did, so we were be able to try some of the baked goods, and were amazingly delicious , we had a great time and definitely will be back.

  • Victor Wang

This bakery has some surprisingly delicious food. Thought the baked goods in the display case would be dry but they kept it surprisingly moist. I had the cinnamon pinwheel and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly crunch on the outside soft on the inside. Not too sweet and perfectly balanced. The mocha also paired extremely well but I wished the chocolate flavor was more prominent and the latte art could be more impressive.

  • Vincent Randy Heslop

I worked around the corner for 4 years and enjoyed there baked goods for lunch and a morning break snack. There coffee is thoughtfully prepared with comforting. It's busy with limited seating and you will wait in line most mornings, but it's worth it! I particularly like the scones and cookies when they are fresh FOLLOW ME for the best recommendations as I travel the world!

  • Nathalia Y

I placed an order via DoorDash. Sticky bun and brioche burger. They were out of the brioche but instead of calling me to ask if I wanted a replacement or cancel the item. They made the decision by their own and sent me bagels instead. I absolutely HATE bagel. It's heavy and hard. I don't like it at all. They not only WASTED food, but also showed ZERO care with the customer.

  • Aishani Bhalla

It's wonderful they're open during this time! Finally got my hands on their baked goods. Pretty believable why they had a line outside their door! We tried their everyone bagel, morning roll, and dill scone! Everything was absolutely delicious! Would go again and try their St. Patty's menu! They've the option to order online in advance. Go check them out macrinabakery.com

  • Jehoshua

I've been to wonderful bakeries all over the country, and Macrina is not one of them. We had a box of pastries brought to work and let me tell you....it was bad. They must have a baker with no taste buds and on a low sodium diet. I won't eat it even when it's free! Macrina should go into the brick making business because their baked goods are not far off!

  • Christopher Goldman

I had to spend a week working in Belltown, and Macrina was the most convenient place for morning espresso. How lucky I am that it is such a wonderful place! The service is friendly, and the baked goods are amazing: both delicious and beautiful to the eye. I'm sure I gained weight during my stay. I'll return if I'm ever in the neighborhood.

  • Therese

The Coconut cake with fresh berries was absolutely the best tasting and such a gorgeous looking cake too !! It was a total hit at the celebration of life party . It definitely helped cheer everyone up with a slice of wonderful delicious yummy cake. I Highly recommend this cake . I should have taken a picture of the cake !!! Next time !

  • S

Very average food - right next to what you would expect to receive from a supermarket bakery but at 3x the prices. The sandwiches have very little art in them and are very high priced for the quality. Coffee is poor - it is diner coffee. The insult was the checkout machine - is is nearly impossible to leave anything but a 15%+ tip.

  • Yi Chiang

Probably the best bakery in the city! They are actually the only coffee shop to open before 7 as well. The retail location is airy and welcoming. Enjoy your baked goods with a drink here… they have both still and sparkling water on tap as well. I usually enjoy the breakfast sandwich or quiche whole watching people walk by.

  • Brad Wright

This place is absolutely great! An excellent selection of bagels pastries morning foods sandwiches soups… You name it! Service is on point and the people are super friendly. We sat inside but there was also an excellent area to sit outside as well. If I ever make it back to Seattle I’ll definitely be visiting again.

  • Crissie Alex

This place is a little secret spot that I adored. It had the MOST amazing breads I have tasted. Hands-down the best brunch! We went there multiple times during our stay in Seattle. When it is good, people return.. It's that simple! This is definitely worth trying if you are looking for good food and service!

  • Jessica Bouchard

Was a random walk in. Staff was neutral (not over the top nor engaging but not rude either.) Picked a walnut sticky buns and all of a sudden I was in heaven. Best sweet I've ever had. The bun was fresh and soft and the topping addictive and to die for. Will definitely go back to try another pastry/sweet.

  • Robert Malcolm

Right when you walk in you see loads of absolutely gorgeous pastries. It's almost a sensory overload! Portions are incredible. I had the breakfast biscuit(sausage, egg and cheese) , substituted the sausage for bacon and a blueberry scone. Absolutely amazing! Perfect texture, balance of flavors etc.

  • Jenna Keller

Friendly service and great menu for artisan bread, brunch, lunch, a wide variety of drinks and treats. Their jam biscuit was top notch! They kindly can toast their sandwiches and I like how you can do half orders. There’s plenty of seating inside and some outside. Definitely going back for more!

  • Alpha

Just an ok bakery and the price is on the high side. The quiche is thin and sandwich is ordinary. However, the scone is unique and pretty good. I tried the sample bread, it is too dry to my tasted. One positive is there are windows in the kitchen, so you can see the pastry chefs in action.

  • Lauren Bennett

Went both mornings for breakfast. Such kind staff, amazing pastries and desserts, delish coffee. Breakfast sausage biscuit was AMAZING and kept me full till dinner time. The general manager was super awesome too, lent us his shovel during a bad snow storm during our visit. 11/10 recommend

  • Kaytlin R

This is a great cafe. The baked goods are all amazing. The sandwiches and pot pie are delicious. The service is really nice. I was here on a work trip and my crew and I stopped here numerous times throughout the week for breakfast, lunch, tea, and coffee. We just kept wanting to go back.

  • Gostovah S

I pickup random goodies from macrina all the time and it's so good, but i finally ordered an apple pie from them for an event and my God it was amazing.

Spot on for a New Year's brunch. The huckleberry french toast is a star on the menu, and I can't live without lox if it's in proximity. Seating is really cramped. Watched a hungover patron puking outside on the sidewalk while a dog pooped next to her, adding to the Belltown ambience.

  • Bruce Bailey

This place is excellent. Hand made"artisan" bakery. Unfortunately I've tried multiple offerings (see photo from hotel room) and they are all excellent. I'm actually glad I live in another state, or I'd weight 300 pounds. If you are in Seattle, this place is worth searching out.

  • Ty James

Food was good, but most of the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. Why does it take 12 minutes to pour an orange juice? And act annoyed when I ask it about because we had already received food. And of course a place/people that expect a tip to just stand there and be rude.

  • Louise Britton

Great find. Good coffee. Toilets clean. A good spot between Pike Markets and the Space Needle if walking. Lovely gluten free options such as the guava and cream cheese hand pie. Water, including sparkling variety on tap for free. A refreshing change in more ways than one.

  • MaddiezMunchies

Gluten free raspberry coffee cake is amazing!!!! They have multiple other gluten free options, but note they are not celiac safe (they always tell you at the counter that they are not celiac safe if they see you are getting gluten free). The Belltown location is the best!

  • Jeremy Block

Easily one of the best bakeries in America. Absolutely must by a baguette from here and some of the loaves that rotate daily. I recommend having lunch here and on a nice day sitting outside along the sidewalk. A sandwich and cookie could feed two for lunch.

I was so lucky to stay right next to this place, so I was able to have a fresh bakery with expresso every morning. I have tried a few different bake and coffee. All these bake are so good. I felt like that I was in Europe picking the fresh morning bread.

  • Robert Ruenitz

Stopped to celebrate Pi(e) day on our walk. The standard coffees and salad in a container. The quiche was tasty and the salad out of this world: Vinaigrette onions, almond slices, flavorful cheese. And the berry pie we enjoyed as dessert several times.

  • Dannie Lynn Murphy

Could not have had sweeter staff here, even on a busy Sunday morning! And the pastries are PHENOMENAL to boot

Pastries are only average. Tried various baked goods to get a feel for various textures but underwhelmed on all of them. Strawberry muffin - bone dry on inside, Almond pinwheel - decent but needed more frangipane, dill scone - good flavor,

  • Gurupad S. Hegde

Nice neighborhood coffee shop. Always lively with lot of breakfast options. Menu changes very frequently. So, always check the menu either from online or in person. Only downside is they don't have any vegan breakfast option unfortunately.

  • Ruth RH

I absolutely love their mocha, which is more of a Mexican mocha. Also, the cashier was extremely nice and patient, given that I was new to the shop and needed a bit of assistance making sure my order was correct (I don’t like really sweet

  • Michelle Barnes

Came looking for some savory options for a quick brunch. The sandwiches are pre-made and can be heated up if desired. I ordered the CATE (cornetto, avocado, tomato, egg) sandwich. Good taste but thought it was pricey for the portion size.

  • Lauren L

Ordered some bagels and a mini orange cream cake for a late brunch. The bagels were chewy and flavorful, probably the best I’ve had in the city. That cream cake!? Are you kidding!? What did you put in that mousse!? Absolutely delicious.

  • S PJ

All sandwiches are pre made A lot of items sold out at 11 am on a Saturday Staff nog very friendly Avocado toast was ok but could do without the load of salt Grilled cheese was disappointing Double choc cookie was delicious

  • Charlye Tran

One of Seattle famous bakery with their bread sold at Whole Food and many other food outlets. They also serve breakfast and brunch on the weekend. Love their potatoes bread and many of their cakes and desserts.

  • annie zhiye wang

Came here for some coffee, and ended up getting the Morning Glory Muffin as well. It was super tasty, and the top of the muffin was crunchy because of the raw sugar on top. The shop is pretty spacious as well!

  • Olesia Stanovska

Quiche is greasy and very small for the price. Scones are average in taste and coffee isn’t that great. There are a lot of bakeries in Seattle downtown that MUCH better than Macrina. I will not go there again.

  • Amy

A great pastry place as always. But I miss their table service brunch. Now you have to hope you can snag a table to eat, from folks drinking just a cup of coffee. Better to go elsewhere for breakfast.

  • Vitalii Kravets

This place is a mess. My table was never cleaned. Cappuccino was burning hot. It took them 55 minutes to bring my waffles: 50 mins before complaining and 5 after. Oh, and dirty silverware of course.

  • Vishakh Vasudevan

It was a very rainy morning and we decided to enter this Cafe for some warm coffee and some comfort food which is exactly what we got, a gentle welcome with smiling faces and good food. Thank You.

  • Malika Shettar

You’d think a bakery would be good at baking? Think again. The bread is flavorless (ham & cheese brioche) the blueberry pie is not good, and the best I can say about the coffee is “it’s coffee.”

  • Arpit Sharma

Delicious food. Good options for morning breakfast. Chocolate croissant and inverted strawberry shortcake and grilled cheese sandwich are all very delicious. Avocado toast was really fresh.

  • William Geary

Kind of disappointed. The 11$ sandwich was small and mostly bread and cheese. The $5 squash loaf was pretty spongy and average. For something so expensive I was expecting to be blown away…

  • Ekaterina mavleeva

Bought a macrina Colomba Easter cake from Ballinger thriftway. It was so disgusting, no one ate it. May be it was a bad batch or thriftway poorly stored conditions anyway…buyers be aware

  • Catie Sanchez

Cozy cafe for a quick breakfast! We ordered the ham and cheese brioche and multigrain cereal. There was a good crowd for a Sunday morning, but the service and the food were very prompt.

  • Jairo Barreto

Compared to La Parisienne French Bakery, Macrina Bakery is in a good location for tourist. They have plenty of room for their customers, great customer service, and friendly staff.

  • Carlos Jauregui

Yummy bread and great treats. The staff is always nice. My go to's are olive bread, sourdough, salmon bagel and croissant! Usually I get coffee on the way out. Few seats available.

  • E E

Mediocre coffee with safeway quality baked goods. Except the location, nothing special about this place. I wouldn’t come here for coffee or bakery, unless i absolutely have to

  • Felicia L

Really disappointed in the 9 inch birthday cake I ordered. It was as definitely old, dry and falling apart. Emailed them about the issues I had but they never got back to me.

  • Sean Gordon

MARKET SPECIAL Spring vegetable omelette withs sauce verte and cheesy grits. Served with herb-roasted potatoes, fresh fruit and our Ciabatta Roll. Holy moly this is amazing!

  • Mark Reagin

They have a good variety of savory and sweet pastries, and a beautiful selection of breads. Their great food come with great service and chill minimally decorated cafe.

Delicious spot for handcrafted pastries. Order ahead online to avoid long lines. The bialy sandwich, raspberry cornetto, and dill scone are fantastic!

Cherry hand pie - tasteless and dry, threw it out after two bites. However I have had one of their croissants at a coffee shop and it was good.

  • Garrett N.

Not my favorite Macrina location due to the crowds and difficulty in finding a table, but still quality breakfast and pastries to be had here.

  • Courtney Meyer

Amazing staff, great coffee and great atmosphere! The pastry selection is absolutely divine. Try a BLT breakfast sandwich!

  • Erika RS

Great pastries in a comfortable setting. The seating is fairly limited which can be a constraint during the morning rush.

Noticed more vegan options in the pastry case last time I went! I didn’t buy these, but their chai is reliably good.
